Tom Ford First Frost Eye Color Quad + New Balm Frost

Tom Ford First Frost Eyeshadow Quad and Balm Frost | The Beauty Look Book

There are two new launches from Tom Ford Beauty and I have a look at the Tom Ford First Frost Eye Color Quad ($88) along with the limited-edition Balm Frost ($56). As a die-hard lover of Tom Ford I knew I had to have both and ordered them without hesitation from Nordstrom.

First Frost Soleil Eye Color Quad

Tom Ford First Frost Eyeshadow Quad | The Beauty Look Book

The Tom Ford First Frost Eyeshadow quad comes in the white and gold packaging and has that same pressed metallic formula as Nude Dip, Honeymoon, Body Heat etc. I will say that the current online stock images seem to be off for the First Frost palette as it is a cool-toned palette with pink and taupe while the stock images show something warmer with more peach and bronze tones.

First Frost has four smooth metallic shimmers. They’re easy to blend and layer. You can apply them with a wet brush for more intensity/shine but I prefer using a regular dry eyeshadow brush like the MAC 239S, Tom Ford 12 Eye Contour or Hourglass No 3 or No 12. Colors are a white pearl shimmer, medium rose pink that has a warm base but flashes a cool-pink and gold shimmer, a neutral-cool taupe brown with silver shimmer, deeper cool toned bronze.

On my medium-tan skin the colors look more contrasted with my skin and more cool-toned. If you’re lighter or warmer in complexion the colors will pull less pale/frosty and look more true to pan on your skin.

Some comparison swatches to last year’s Soleil D’Hiver (reviewed here) and Nude Dip. The colors are in the similar color family to my eye. The main difference is in the undertone and depth of the colors.

Tom Ford Balm Frost Review Sabrina The Beauty Look Book

The Tom Ford Balm Frost this year has a sheer pink iridescent base coated with the prettiest dusting of sparkles on the exterior. It looks incredibly beautiful straight out of the box and has that perfect holiday feel. The sparkle is a top coat on the exterior but underneath you still have a pale iridescent shimmer that flashes silver, iridescent green, and pale gold.

On my arms vs lips it looks completely different. On the arm swatch below I see more white and gold. On my lips it is very sheer but the sparkles leave a pale pearlescent sheen. The color on my lips is almost white with a super soft pale pink glow.

Swatches below on the arm next to the Tom Ford Gloss Luxe in Crystalline, Tom Ford Balm Frost, Dior Lip Glow in Holo Pink (discontinued), Dior Lip Glow in Rose Gold, Fenty Gloss Bomb in Diamond Milk

Tom Ford Balm Frost swatch comparisons

I’m surprised how different this looks on everyone I’ve seen try this! I have a more pigmented natural lip, sometimes it’s more brown other times it’s more purple – so any sheer lip color will look different on you than it does on me. Also my natural lip shows through around the edges often. With this one I feel the frost/sparkle contrasts with my natural lip to give it a more frosted look. If you add a liner or lipstick underneath it doubles as a fun top coat.

Formula-wise it had minimal texture on the lips – I didn’t feel any texture from the sparkle. It has nice moisture but isn’t as hydrating like the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms or a lip oil. I think it’s fun and I love how beautiful it looks. For me it was worth the splurge although I the Soleil Lip Blush is more special with the pink tinge it gives the lips (the clear base with gold flecks). You can still find the Lip Blush individually or in a Soleil Lip Blush Eye Duo Set.

Overall love! Both were worth the splurge for me. I bought the Tom Ford First Frost Eyeshadow Quad and Balm Frost from Nordstrom. You can also find them at Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and all other Tom Ford Beauty retailers.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick Review

Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick Review | The Beauty Look Book

Victoria Beckham Posh Lipsticks recently launched and I could not be more excited! She launched nine colors of hydrating lipsticks and I ordered six of them from her website Victoria Beckham Beauty. The lipsticks seem to be an exclusive on her website for the time being, but you can also find her products at a few other places like Violet Grey and Net-A-Porter. Her Posh Lipsticks come in a slim twist up tube and retail for $38 each.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick Review | The Beauty Look Book

The formula is ultra smooth and creamy. They glide on the lips in a beautiful way and have a slight waxy feel. I would say coverage is sheer-medium with most of the colors except the darker ones which have medium pigment. A few swipes back and forth covers the lip entirely with a natural sheen. Finish-wise I would say they’re somewhere in between lightweight and heavy – but they are really comfortable. Lasting power is ok – they fade within a few hours but these days I don’t mind something that doesn’t last super long since I have to take off lip color anyways anytime I wear a mask. To extend the wear or have more pigment, I’d definitely recommend layering with a lip pencil.

Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick | The Beauty Look Book

I skipped the lightest shade, the red and one of the browns. All the colors are creams (no shimmer). I think they’re beautiful everyday kinds of classics! I have a lot of natural pigment in my lips so if your lips aren’t as dark, these will show up a lot better on your lips/complexion. While I was able to get full coverage I still feel like my natural lip showed through a little.

Colors I hauled:

  • Girl is a light pink beige cream
  • Spice is a brown beige ginger
  • Pout is a sheer light pink peach
  • Pose is a muted mauve
  • Sway is a soft mauve berry
  • Play is a deeper wine plum

Swatches in different lighting, top is with full flash. Bottom photo with different lighting also next to the Victoria Beckham Beauty Lip Pencils I have (you can see the review in this post here):

VBB Posh Lipstick Review | SABRINA

Girl and Pout are both a bit too light for my natural lip color but if I wear a lip pencil underneath and blend first I can make them work. I love the look of Spice even though it pulls a bit brown on my skin. My favorites are Pose and Sway. Based on my swatching experience I think Fringe (a brown shade I skipped) might have been a good one too!

Overall experience is positive for me and I’m happy with my haul picks. I love the sleek slim packaging and even though these are on the spendy side I do think they were worth ordering. I would have liked to see more color options in the medium color range (versus the pale or deep end) – but I think this is a great start to the lineup. They perform well, texture is beautiful, pigment is sheer but lovely. They’re a great no-fuss kind of classic lip that offers hydration and sheer medium coverage.

Formula-wise I wouldn’t call these the best of the best simply because I prefer colors with a little more pigment but I think they are very good. For me my heart still belongs to the Pat McGrath lineup because of the color selection and pigment. I also prefer the Chantecaille Lip Veils (for pigment and color selection).

You can find the Victoria Beckham Beauty Lipsticks available online at her website Victoria Beckham Beauty. Have you tried any of these yet? What did you think?

Chanel Holiday 2020 Collection Les Chaines D’Or de Chanel

Chanel Holiday 2020 | The Beauty Look Book

Happy Wednesday! I’m finally back with a new post featuring the Chanel Holiday 2020 Collection Les Chaines D’Or de Chanel. We have been away on a mini getaway to celebrate our Anniversary. If you want to check out a few snippets you can check out my Instagram Highlights under the Miami section @beautylookbook. I played with and swatched Chanel Holiday before we left town. I think the colors are really beautiful and luminous for a glowing look. You can find the entire collection online now at Chanel.com – in today’s review:

Les Chaines de Chanel Illuminating Blush Powder

Chanel Les Chaines de Chanel Illuminating Blush | The Beauty Look Book

This holiday Chanel has one illuminating blush called Les Chaines de Chanel. It’s a luminous copper bronze rose with a super smooth sheen. On my skin it warms up the complexion in with a pretty soft pink glow. Pigment is medium with smooth coverage. It’s easy to apply as a soft wash but also buildable. The shimmer is ultra-fine so on my skin it’s not frosty at all. It comes in a black mirrored compact with brush and a stunning embossed chain design. I give this a solid A+. It is definitely a powder formula but has a soft silky almost gel-to-powder like feel. Lasting power is excellent and stays put without darkening. Color shifts depending on how the light hits the pan so don’t let the intensity intimidate you if it looks dark from certain angles.

Ombre Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadows

Chanel Holiday 2020 Ombre Premiere Eyeshadows

There are four new Ombre Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadows. They’re metallic with tiny flecks of sparkles for a shimmery festive look. I ended up liking these a lot more than I anticipated. In the compacts they looked a little dull but on the skin they’re really flattering and easy to wear. I’m super picky with gold undertones and on my arm/hand the golds looked like they would not work on my tan olive skin. They are very wearable. There is no fallout on me when I apply these, they stay put like the other colors in this formula. Pigment is medium when applied dry. You can apply with a damp brush to intensify pigment.

  • Or Blanc is a shimmering antiqued white gold
  • Or Antique is a sparkling antique deeper gold
  • Cuivre Rose is a pretty metallic rose shimmer (LOVE this one)
  • Cuir Brun is a soft smokey shimmery deep cool brown

Le Vernis Longwear Nail Color

Chanel Holiday 2020 Le Vernis Chaine D'Or

For the nails Chanel launched one Le Vernis Longwear Nail Color in Chaine D’Or. It’s a metallic antique gold. Coverage is smooth and although metallic applies easily with minimal visible brush strokes. On me this is a one-coat wonder although I applied it in two coats. As pretty as it is I don’t find it flattering on my skin and undertone. It’s a little too brassy on my fingers. I feel it will be better suited for those who are lighter or deeper in skintone than me. Quality wise it’s excellent though.

Rouge Allure Luminous Lip Color

Chanel Holiday 2020 Rouge Allure Review | The Beauty Look Book

Last is a look at the four Rouge Allure Luminous Lip Colors for holiday. These all have varying degrees of shimmer and are a little more shimmery than most other Rouge Allures I’ve tried. Application is smooth and comfortable. They have a super soft almost almond-like scent like the Rouge Allure formula but it’s VERY subtle and I barely notice it once it is on the lips.

Formula is creamy and offers full coverage with a luminous sheen. They feel nice on the lips like a traditional lipstick. For me lasting power is pretty good!

  • Or Beige 107 is a soft beige with gold shimmer
  • Or Cuivre 117 is a nude plum shimmer
  • Rouge D’Or 127 is a bold warm red with shimmr
  • Pourpre D’Or 137 is a deeper plum (almost looks identical on my lips as Or Cuivre)

The stand outs to me are the new Les Chaines de Chanel highlighter and Rose Cuivre Eyeshadow. I also love a good smokey brown so Cuir Brun is another new favorite for me. I hope you found this review and swatches helpful! You can find everything available now online at Chanel.com. I suspect it will launch soon at other retailers and counters as well.

Hourglass Cosmetics Sculpture Holiday Collection

October 2, 2020

Hourglass Holiday 2020 Sculpture Collection

The Hourglass Cosmetics Sculpture Holiday Collection launched recently with two new palettes and a lipstick duo. I have a review today with some beauty looks to share! The new launches are beautiful and perfect for giving you that gorgeous lit from within kind of holiday glow. However, if you’ve been a long-time Hourglass collector and still have a lot of product left in your palettes, I think you can shop your stash to get the same look. The collection is available at Hourglass Cosmetics, Nordstrom, Sephora and all other Hourglass retailers.

In today’s review:

Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture Palette

Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture Palette

The Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture Palette has quite a few repromotes from the existing Hourglass lineup. In the palette we have:

  • Dim Light – a soft finishing powder in a pink beige satin
  • Diffused Light – another finishing powder in a pale yellow
  • Glistening Strobe Light – a smooth metallic warm peachy champagne (new)
  • Natural Bronze Light – a satiny warm neutral bronze (new and limited to this palette)
  • Vibrant Flush – a coral shimmer blush (new and limited to this palette, deeper than Incandescent Electra)
  • Mood Exposure – a soft mauve rose satin

Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture Palette swatches | The Beauty Look Book

I ended up liking this one a lot more than I had expected! Part of my initial disappointment was that it’s half repromotes – I have more than enough of Dim Light and Diffused Light to last me several lifetimes. I do understand they are versatile finishing powders to soften the look and add a glow to the skin but I really hoped they would create new colors – especially tones for medium-tan to deep skin tones.

Quality-wise I think the palette performs exceptionally well. Even though I’m medium-tan all the colors show up on my skin and the days I’ve been wearing this palette I’ve gotten tons of compliments on how good my skin looks. It makes you glow in a very natural way. I hope they consider adding the new shades in full size. For those who haven’t tried the Hourglass powders before – these blend into the skin beautifully without emphasizing fine lines or pores. They add a really stunning glow without looking frosty.

Ambient Lighting Edit Mini – Sculpture Unlocked

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Mini Sculpture Unlocked | The Beauty Look Book

The Ambient Lighting Edit Mini – Sculpture Unlocked is a 4-pan version of previous Unlocked palettes (reviewed here). If you missed out on the palette last year it’s a good time to try this one in a more compact version. If you’re like me you might be a bit disappointed they didn’t come out with a different variation. I’ve seen a number of other beauty bloggers say they wished they had launched were more options for different skin tones. I 100% feel the same. Quality and color-wise the colors in this year’s version perform the same as last year’s.

Sculpture Confession Refill Lipstick Duo

Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Duo Sculpture At Dawn and At Dusk

The Confession Refill Lipstick Duo has two new shades in At Dawn (a soft neutral-warm pink rose) and At Dusk (deep cranberry red). I think both shades are going to be versatile on a wide range of skin tones. They have full opaque smooth coverage with very good lasting power. Formula is ultra creamy and has a natural shine to them. I do think they are over-priced given the size. Quality-wise they are really good.

Dupe-wise At Dawn is similar to their individual lipstick I’m Addicted. At Dawn is warmer and a little bit lighter. It’s also a warmer version of Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk on my skin. If you found Pillow Talk too dusty/ashy on your lips you might want to give the At Dawn color a try.

Hourglass Holiday 2020 Sculpture Collection Review | The Beauty Look Book

Overall a solid collection of beautiful launches. Quality-wise and color-wise everything performs well and I think they give a beautiful natural glow you can wear all seasons. If you already have a lot of Hourglass palettes and still have plenty of product left, I think you can safely shop your stash if you want to avoid dupes. That being said I do love the look of the Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpture Palette given the number of compliments I’ve gotten wearing it – it works for everyday and I also think it photographs well.

Have you checked out the holiday Hourglass launches yet? Or are you waiting for other collections? I’m really excited about the new Chanel and Charlotte Tilbury launches this year.

Chantecaille

Chantecaille Safari Collection – Fall 2020

September 18, 2020

Chantecaille Safari Collection Review | The Beauty Look Book

I have a look at the new Chantecaille Safari Collection today and it features one eyeshadow trio and three lip colors created to support Space for Giants. If you’re looking for some nice fall transition colors nice for an everyday polished look I highly recommend giving this collection a look! You can find the collection at Chantecaille, Blue Mercury, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

Safari Collection Eye Trio

Chantecaille Safari Eye Trio

The Safari Collection Eye Trio ($75) is a limited-edition palette and is a bit harder to find right now as it has sold out online at Chantecaille but still available at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. I was happy to be able to find it and am completely obsessed! The three shades include:

  • Nanu a soft shimmering taupe
  • Red Earth is a shimmery reddish copper plum
  • Selenkey is a shimmery gold

Each shadow has a tiny bit of overspray on the embossed elephant pattern. The shadows have medium pigment, a super soft texture and a luminous finish. The palette is easy to wear for a wide range of skin tones and I think it will be flattering whether you are warm or cool toned. They work effortlessly to layer and blend – I think the texture and formula are beautiful! Lasting power is very good – they stay put with minimal fading until the end of the day. That being said, if you can’t track this down don’t worry – I think the colors are easy to replicate with other brands for a similar vibe.

I personally find the Luminescent Eye Shades more special and unique for their sparkling luster and pigment. I swatched Elephant, Lion and Giraffe next to the trio for comparison.

Chantecaille Safari Eye Trio vs Luminescent Eye Shade

Chantecaille Safari Eye Trio vs Luminescent Eye Shade swatches

Lip Veil

Chantecaille Lip Veil Safari Collection

I think this is my first time trying the Chantecaille Lip Veil formula and I’m head over heels in love. It has the comfortable feel of a balm but pigment of a lipstick. It’s the perfect hybrid of shine and lipstick in one. I am definitely going to have to try other shades. These are very expensive but I think the formula is excellent. Since they are a shiny formula lasting power isn’t going to be super long, but it’s one of the formulas I don’t mind reapplying. It stayed put for a few hours before I noticed the color showing signs of fading. UPDATE: Colors just popped up online at Nordstrom too! In the Safari Collection we have:

  • Plumeria a soft pink-plum
  • Acacia a gorgeous pink plum rose
  • Tamarind a medium brown cinnamon

I normally feel like I cannot wear browns on my lips but Tamarind has enough warmth to give it some life!

Chantecaille Safari Collection Lip Veil

Chantecaille Lip Veil Plumeria Look

________

Acacia, a soft plum

Chantecaille Lip Veil Acacia

________

Tamarind, a cinnamon plum

Chantecaille Lip Veil Tamarind

I think the Lip Veils are the stand outs for me for both the color and formula. I find that most cool-toned mauves are too blue on my skin, but I really like how Plumeria looks. I think Acacia and Tamarind are perfect naturally flattering colors for the transition to the fall season, and I feel like they’re classic enough I can wear them in Florida where summer weather lasts until November sometimes.

You can find the Chantecaille Safari Collection out now at Chantecaille, Blue Mercury, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

New Shades Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue + Special Edition Joues Contraste

September 15, 2020

New Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Gloss and Joues Contraste Powder Blushes

I have a look at two different product launches from Chanel! They recently added eight new shades of the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue and also three re-promoted blushes in special edition packaging to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Joues Contraste Powder Blush.

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue New SHADES Beauty Look Book

The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Gloss is a long-wear full coverage liquid lip color with a high shine top coat. These are double ended tubes with two sides. One has the lipstick with a sponge tip wand applicator, the other has a shiny gloss with a brush tip. Out of all the long-wear lip products I’ve tried this is one of the longest lasting formulas. The color does not budge once it sets, but you will need to reapply the top coat as needed.

I’ve tried a few of these in the past and really love the formula. It’s best to apply on a clean lip. You can apply liner first if you prefer, but I usually just apply straight out of the tube. New shades include:

  • 164 Chic Beige is an ultra pale light beige cream
  • 166 Timeless Beige is a perfect neutral beige
  • 172 Light Mauve is a light blue-based mauve pink
  • 174 Endless Pink is a medium warm pink
  • 176 Burning Red is a bright bold classic red
  • 180 Passionate Red is a deeper bold red
  • 182 Light Brown is a taupe brown
  • 184 Intense Brown is a dark cool-toned brown plum with a hint of shimmer

Swatches below alongside a few of my other favorites (you can see other ones on the face in this post here, Intense Nude and Intense Caramel are still my favorites).

New Chanel Le Rouge Ultra Duo Tenue Gloss swatches

Quality and pigment is excellent for me. The only ones that didn’t work for me were just because the colors didn’t suit my coloring. Chic Beige is too pale for my complexion and Intense Brown is too deep/cool toned. Out of the new colors I think Timeless Beige is the best easy to wear everyday color. Beige can be hard to pull off as many are too pale, too yellow or too flat. Timeless Beige is perfect! I also love Endless Pink for a pretty warmer brighter but still  neutral pink shade. I think the reds are phenomenal too.

Chanel 40th Anniversary Joues Contraste

Chanel 40th Anniversary Joues Contraste Blushes

This year marks an anniversary milestone for the Joues Contraste Powder Blush. They launched classic colors in a special limited-edition compact with a burgundy colored CC logo instead of the white. Colors are existing shades so if you already own them I don’t think there is a need to repurchase unless you are a Chanel collector and love the packaging. I do believe that different countries featured different colors in this launch. The US colors include:

  • 02 Rose Bronze a soft shimmery pink with an iridescent sheen (this color was one of my first Chanel splurges when I started getting into makeup!)
  • 260 Alezane a classic beige with a hint of gold shimmer
  • 320 Rouge Profond is a classic flushed red

Chanel 40th Anniversary Joues Contraste Blushes Rose Bronze, Alezane and Rouge Profond swatches

All three have that classic soft texture all Chanel blushes have. I do think the formula and color payoff has improved over the years and these have very good pigment while still having a natural look.

Makeup Looks

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Gloss 180 Passionate Red

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Gloss 182 Light Brown

New Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Gloss and Joues Contraste Powder Blushes

Overall I think Chanel launched some beautiful classic colors that you can wear on an everyday basis. I want to try a few more shades of the Le Rouge Duo Gloss. I used to love and own Darling Pink and think I may repurchase it. A number of you have mentioned you loved Intense Rosewood so I will probably give that one a try as well.

I think the three repromoted blushes perform well. They have a soft but buildable texture that is easy to wear. All three show up on my medium tan skin. If you’ve used Chanel for a long time you know that their blushes have been sheerer in the past – I do think the formula has improved over the years.

New Hourglass Haul Picks

Hourglass New Launches Sublime Flush, At Night, Unlocked Extensions Mascara

Hourglass launched a few new things recently and I have a new Hourglass haul roundup featuring products for eyes, lips and cheeks. Everything is available at Sephora and Hourglass Cosmetics. In today’s roundup:

Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder Review

The latest addition to the Ambient Lighting Powder line is the new Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder. This has a mix of two Ambient Lighting Powders and a Strobe Highlighter in one swirled compact. I wasn’t exactly sure what this was intended for – is it a highlighter? Setting powder? Blurring powder? On my medium tan skin I found it to be a good finishing powder to use after my foundation and regular powder. It acts like a soft glow powder to add some radiance all over.

Color is sheer – it looks like a beige yellow with some pink swirls in the compact. On the skin I think your mileage will vary depending on skin tone but for me it’s sheer and subtle enough to use all over the face. The effect is subtle but still noticeable on my skin. I don’t think it’s different enough from the Diffused or Dim Light to justify owning but I do like how it looks on the skin.

I’ve read a few people said this made their skin look dry. This was not the case at all for me. However I do think some shimmer powders can emphasize dry patches or lines if the color is either too light or too matchy. Sometimes pale pink or pale champagne highlighters look terrible on my medium skin because the shimmer emphasizes lines.

Product is sheer so this will look different on you depending on your skin tone and undertone. Swatch comparisons below for reference:

Ambient Lighting Blushes

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes in Sublime Flush and At Night

There are two new Ambient Lighting Blushes in Sublime Flush which is a soft pink shimmer (this was in Ghost 2019 palette) and At Night which is a brick red mixed with pink champagne. Both are really lovely! Pigment is medium but easy to build or sheer out. On me lasting power is very good – they stay put all day. Swatch comparisons to a few other blushes, they look really similar on my arm but they definitely look different on the face:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush swatches

Sublime Flush is not quite as deep or flushed on my medium tan skin but definitely shows up. Since I’m a bit darker than normal it is almost light a highlighter.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Sublime Flush

Below wearing the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Sublime Flush with the No. 28 Lip Oil in Adorn. Beauty breakdown:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Sublime Flush and Lip Oil Adorn

At Night is a really pretty soft almost diffused brick red on the skin. It’s very wearable and for me one of the more unique colors. I think this is the perfect transition to fall. It’s not too dark or dramatic.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in At Night

Below wearing the At Night Blush with At Night Lip Oil

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush and Lip Oil in At Night

No 28 Lip Treatment Oil

Hourglass No 28 Lip Oil in At Night

I’ve been a huge fan of the No 28 Lip Treatment Oils even though I think they are crazy expensive. At Night is a medium-sheer brick red with blue tones on my skin. I believe it was a limited-edition release a while ago but it slipped my radar until now. The color itself will fade within a few hours but since it’s an oil it fades evenly and nicely so you don’t have that dark ring around the edges. This is a nice red option that isn’t too bright or deep – it’s the perfect red for those who feel like they can’t pull off reds. It’s what I had hoped the Victoria Beckham Bitten Lip Tint would be (which turned purple on my lips).

Swatched next the other Lip Oils I have and a few shades I thought might be similar including the new Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath in Walk of Shame and Pat McGrath LUST Gloss in Flesh 6 (swatched here).

Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara

Hourglass Unlocked Extensions Mascara Review

Mascara is a category I just don’t get excited about. I feel like most of them are hype but in all fairness I have wimpy lashes which will rarely holds the curl and since they are very straight it often looks like I don’t have any. The Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara is a tubing mascara which I found ok for a tubing formula. It takes 2-3 uses to get it going for me. I found it did lengthen and added nice volume but it had zero holding power for the curl and it made my lashes straighten out. I prefer the Caution Extreme formula from Hourglass, but out of all the new formulas that have launched this year I feel like the best ones are the new Pat McGrath Dark Star and Kosas Big Clean. A lot of you have mentioned you love the Ilia Limitless Lash which I did try and like the look of, but think I’m allergic to (my eyes got terribly itchy with this one).

Bottom line I think it’s ok. Didn’t work for me but most formulas don’t. If your lashes can hold the curl and you don’t mind tubing mascaras then I do think it’s worth a try.

Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner

Hourglass Liquid Eyeliner

The Hourglass Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner isn’t a new launch but it’s been on my radar for some time. I had high hopes as I love their 1.5 MM Mechanical Gel Liner. My feelings are mixed – it does give a super deep glossy black finish and is indeed waterproof on me. Cons for me are the dry time isn’t quick so it smudges if I blink without letting it dry. Once it sets it does stay put. The other downside for me is the brush. It’s like a felt tip which is very delicate and after one use already looks like it will wear down. Since the applicator is kinda essential I don’t think I will be repurchasing. The Tom Ford Eye Defining Liquid Liner Pen and Cle de Peau Intensifying Liquid Eyeliner are far superior and 100% worth the splurge.

Hourglass Haul Picks

I think there are some winners with the new launches! I really love the look of the At Night blush and lip oil. Sublime Flush is a pretty pink but still a little light for me unless I pack it on. The Infinity Powder ended up working for my complexion but I don’t think it’s unique enough to get super excited about.

You can find the Hourglass launches now at Sephora and Hourglass Cosmetics. Have you checked anything out yet? What did you think?
