Natasha Denona Mini Love Collection + New Lip Liners

Natasha Denona Mini Love Collection Review

Natasha Denona recently launched her Mini Love Collection with new shades for eyes, lips ad cheeks. I’m thrilled to be able to share a look at the new collection today! She also added new shades of pencils in her I Need a Nude Lip Liner formula and I hauled a few colors from Sephora.

___________

Natasha Denona Love Cheek Duo

Natasha Denona Mini Love Collection - Love Cheek Duo

The Natasha Denona Love Cheek Duo has a soft cream blush in a pink coral cream and an iridescent pink gold shimmer. The cream dries down to a soft matte finish and while it’s more of a baby pink on me once blended it looks more natural and soft. The shimmery highlighter has a beautiful multi-dimensional sheen that flashes pink and gold without being too glitzy.

The product description says the Cream Blush in the Duo is the same as the cream from her Diamond and Blush Palette Darya (reviewed here). I pulled mine out to compare even though it’s pretty old and the colors are identical on my skin. The Highlighter in this Duo is similar to the Duo Glow in the Diamond Palette but the one in the new duo pulls more pink in undertone.

Natasha Denona Mini Love Collection - Love Cheek Duo

Performance-wise the Love Cheek Duo has excellent wear time and is easy to blend. The highlighter isn’t too shimmery and I think when layered they can give a lovely soft delicate glow. Swatch comparisons below to her Mini Bloom Blush (review here), Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush in Strawberry Drip, Chanel Spring 2021 Blush Highlighter Duo (review here).

Mini Love Palette

Natasha Denona Mini Love Eyeshadow Palette

Up next is her Mini Love Palette. I love her mini eyeshadow palettes because they come with perfectly coordinated colors for a complete look. The colors in this palette all perform beautifully – there is a nice mix of mattes and shimmers. Quality and performance wise colors blend nicely, they’re pigmented, lasting power is good. I just didn’t like the colors for me. I personally do not like purple eyeshadows for me. They don’t mix well with my olive complexion.

Colors include a sparkling mauve pink, matte mauve, deep matte plum, shimmery pale pink and shimmery rose pink.

I Need a Nude Lipstick in Amorosa

Natasha Denona Lipstick Amorosa

For the lips there’s a new lip color called Amorosa which is a nude pink. Her nude lip colors come in a wide range of options and undertones, many are too light for my complexion, but I really like the look of Amorosa! It’s a nude pink and gives me a true-nude lip look. It is better if I pair it with a slightly deeper lip pencil and blend but I’ve swatched it below by itself for you to get an idea of how it looks. It’s creamy, opaque and has full coverage.

Below wearing the Natasha Denona Mini Love Collection including her Mini Love Eyeshadow Palette, Love Cheek Duo, Amorosa Lipstick. Top is from Revolve. For my base I’m wearing the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Foundation in LM14 (review and swatched here).

I Need a Nude Lip Pencils

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Lip Pencil Review

Last but not least as a nude lip lover I hauled some of her I Need a Nude Lip Pencils. Formula-wise they’re perfect. They have a smooth texture with high pigment and a natural matte finish. They’re not drying and glide on the lips perfectly. Lasting power is phenomenal and stays put for hours without budging or fading.

Color-wise I think these are best when used as a lip liner and combined with a lipstick + gloss. I know many of you like to use liners as a line and fill kind of product, like a lip crayon. For me these nudes pull too nude if I apply all over the lips. If you go to her Instagram @natashadenona and look at her Live Swatches highlights she has really helpful demo, application tips and live swatches.

For color selection nudes can be tricky depending on your skin and natural lip tone. A lot of nudes that I like don’t always work for you especially if you don’t have warm olive tones like me. My pigmented lips vary in color day to day. Sometimes they’re pink, other times they’re more purple, other days they look more brown. For me these lip pencils look really similar on my arm. If you look at the swatches on the @natashadenona Instagram Highlights you will see the colors have more variation on lighter skin tone.

She has her lip pencils labeled with a color code to distinguish the undertone (NP = neutral pink, NB = neutral beige). Colors I bought (please note they look so close on my arm in the photo but there are differences in undertone, especially when on the lips):

  • NP1 Natasha – light neutral mauve pink
  • NP2 Ilona – light medium pink brown
  • NP3 Julia – medium pink
  • NB2 Noa – medium beige
  • NB3 Dana – cool beige brown

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Lip Pencil swatches

The two that worked best for me are Ilona and Julia, but they pull very light on my complexion. The Pat McGrath Permagel Lip Pencil colors in Done Undone or Buff or Structure work better for my lip tone and complexion for a natural lip (swatched here) – but these have more color while the Natasha Denona Lip Pencils are nudes just as the name implies. Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Le Lion de Chanel

January 28, 2021

Rouge Allure Velvet Le Lion de Chanel review

Chanel launched a collection of lipsticks called Rouge Allure Velvet Le Lion de Chanel ($42 each at Chanel.com). These have the classic Rouge Allure lipstick click magnetic packaging in a black and gold case with the tops embossed in a lion motif design. Luminous matte with a soft diffused look on the lips. Comfortable and weightless without feeling dry.

The formula is one of the smoothest softest mattes I’ve ever tried. Coverage is flawless and soft like velvet! Lasting power is very good and non-drying. I don’t detect a heavy scent although they are very softly fragranced with a super soft clean powder floral that I find pleasant and soothing. Color-wise they all run bold and dark on my complexion. Even the lightest color 227 pulls darker on my skin tone (Chanel B40).

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Le Lion de Chanel

There are eight shades of Rouge Allure Velvet Le Lion de Chanel available individually ($42 each) and online at Chanel.com there is a Trio Set available in a box with shades 257, 277 and 58 ($126).

227 Beige Rugissant – warm beige
237 Beige Ardent – pink brown
247 Rouge Impulsif – bright coral
257 Rouge Triomphal – bold red pink
267 Rouge Audacieux – deeper red
277 Rouge Fauve – warm red
57 Rouge Feu – bold orange
58 Rouge Vie – diffused rosewood

Overall I think the formula is a solid A+ for all the shades. Color range is bolder and more dramatic than I am used to wearing but still classic and chic. I hope they continue making more shades in this formula because it feels so smooth and luxurious!

Chanel Spring-Summer 2021 Collection Review

Chanel Spring Summer 2021 Makeup Collection Review

Today I have my Chanel Spring-Summer 2021 Collection Review with a detailed look at the Les Fleurs de Chanel collection for spring. The collection is now available online at Chanel.com. I suspect it will trickle into retail stores and counters in the next few weeks.

There are a few repromotes in this launch as it appears the eyeshadow palettes that were supposed to  be part of this collection did not make it to the US. I don’t know if they will make an appearance at a later date or not. For now they’ve repromoted Warm Memories and a few other eye products to complete the look. In today’s review:

Cheeks

Chanel Fleur de Printemps Blush Highlighter Duo

The Fleur de Printemps Blush Highlighter Duo is the star of the collection in my opinion! It has a beautiful warm pale pink shimmer on one side and a soft coral pink satin on the other. I swirl the colors together in the pan and it has a really pretty soft pink glow. The texture/formula is the same as the Cheek Duos from Cruise 2019. It has a soft finely milled texture that’s almost creamy but definitely still powder.

Swatches and swatch comparisons to a few other colors:

Eyes

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad in 354 Warm Memories and Le Volume de Chanel in 120 Metal Terracotta

For the eyes they’ve repromoted Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad in 354 Warm Memories and Ombre Premiere Laque in 32 Vastness and 26 Rose Quartz. (Original review here if you want to see more swatches.) The new color in this collection is the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in 120 Metal Terracotta. This is a pretty metallic copper – on my lashes it gives a subtle tint. I think it’s a nice alternative to black or brown if you have lighter color hair or lashes. On darker hair like mine it will look more subtle. Formula performs just as good as the other shades of the Le Volume de Chanel mascaras.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad in 354 Warm Memories and Le Volume de Chanel in 120 Metal Terracotta swatches

Lips

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in 134 Eclosion and 136 Pivoine Noire

For the lips there are two shades Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in 134 Eclosion (bright coral) and 136 Pivoine Noire (bright coral red). These are matte lip colors with an intense color payoff and long lasting power. They are ultra pigmented and adhere well to the lips.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque 73 Invincible and 77 Dark Blossom

They’ve also included two shades of the Rouge Allure Laque 73 Invincible (repromote, swatched here and here) and a new color 77 Dark Blossom which is a plum shimmer. I really love the look of Dark Blossom even though it seems more like a fall color to me, it’s a really pretty soft plum. It is on the sheer side but you can layer it for more coverage.

Nails

Le Vernis in 883 Pensee, 885 Anthurium and 887 Metallic Bloom

Last we have a look at the three new Le Vernis in 883 Pensee (soft peachy pink with a very tiny hint of pearl), 885 Anthurium (gorgeous pink red) and 887 Metallic Bloom (the prettiest warm coral orange red shimmer). I was really surprised at how pretty Metallic Bloom was on the fingers – it’s a bright happy shade that looks much prettier on the fingers than it does in the bottle. Pensee is a nice soft peach but for me requires three coats for smooth even coverage.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Swatches Part 2

January 19, 2021

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Review + Swatches

I have my Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Swatches Part 2 up today with lip swatches of Shades 67 Steady through 78 Tenacious. For quick reference I have all of the shades arm swatched in my first Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Review + Swatches post from a couple weeks ago along with the lighter neutrals on the lips. My full review on the formula, pigment, lasting power etc is in that post as well. All the shades can be found at Chanel.com.

I swatched most of the remaining colors (except for the last few deepest colors). These are done on bare lips. For skintone reference I’m a match to the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation in B40 or BD41. Equivalent of MAC NC35, Pat McGrath Light Medium 14, Tom Ford Natural and Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion in Buff. I’ve lost most of my tan so I’m lighter in skintone right now than I am most of the year.

Color descriptions:

  • 67 Steady – bright coral
  • 68 Unlimited – bold orange
  • 69 Remanence – bold hot pink
  • 70 Immobile – bright red with pink
  • 71 Mythe – shimmery bold warm red
  • 72 Iconique – muted red with a hint of shimmer
  • 73 Invincible – bold orange red
  • 74 Experimente – plum red
  • 75 Fidelite – brown plum cream
  • 78 Tenacious – plum with a hint of berry

By Terry VIP Expert Palette in Paris Mon Amour and Twinkle Glow Highlighter

Happy New Year to you all! I have my first review of the year with a look at some items from By Terry. They launched a new VIP Expert Paris Mon Amour Palette* and Twinkle Glow Highlighter* over the holiday and I have swatches for you today.

Twinkle Glow CC Highlighter

By Terry Twinkle Glow CC Highlighter

The Twinkle Glow CC Highlighter has sold out most places but is still available right now at Beautylish. It’s a multi-dimensional highlighter that has a soft peachy rose gold shimmer to it with a very luminous glow. It’s not quite as metallic as the Becca Shimmering Pressed Perfectors but has that same soft texture and a similar vibe in how it catches the light and adds shimmer. On my medium tan complexion, it pulls warm and almost bronzey but still has enough contrast on my skin to be a highlighter color. If you’re lighter than me it will definitely pull more on the bronzey side. If you are darker than me I feel like the gold tones will be more visible.

By Terry Twinkle Glow CC Highlighter

Swatches below next to the Brightening CC Palette (back in stock and reviewed here) which has a softer shimmer with sheerer pigment and the Diorskin Nude Luminizer in 01 (which has a more visible glow).

By Terry Twinkle Glow + Brightening CC Palette Swatches

It has a smooth application even though it’s quite shimmery. Lasting power is excellent and it stayed put without fading all day on me. As lovely as it is I don’t know that I would call it a must-have – you can get a similar effect with other brands.

VIP Expert Eyeshadow Palette

By Terry VIP Expert Eyeshadow Palette Paris Mon Amour

The VIP Expert Palette in Paris Mon Amour has a mix of satins and mattes. I really like the combination of colors! It has a couple warmer shades that make for pretty layering but also has a good mix of neutrals so it’s not too warm. Colors include:

  • Matte white
  • Satin cool brown
  • Shimmer baby pink
  • Shimmery soft peach coral
  • Deeper dusty matte brown
  • Darker bronze shimmer
  • Metallic sparkle gold (works as a topper)
  • Shimmery wine plum
  • Shimmery sandy taupe
  • Matte ivory

The colors have a soft look to them but are easy to layer and blend. You can create a wide range of looks with this palette and I do think it’s one you can wear year round.

Hope you found these swatches and makeup looks helpful! You can find most of the products online at By Terry. They’re also having a pretty good sale with some major markdowns on the By Terry Sale Page.

Quick note that the highlighter was limited-edition and has sold out most places by now. I was able to still find it at Beautylish as of this morning if you have it on your wishlist!

I took some time off the blog for the new year but regular posting will resume next week! Stay tuned for more beauty newness soon.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Review + Swatches

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Review | The Beauty Lookbook

Happy Monday! I have a look at the new Chanel Rouge Allure Laque ($40 each, 20 shades) today! These are Chanel’s new satin liquid lipstick with a lightweight feel and shiny finish. Coverage is natural looking with medium pigment but they can be layered for full coverage. Texture is light and smooth with a weightless almost airy feel to them. They’re comfortable on the lips with medium lasting power. These come with a beveled sponge tip applicator for an easy line and fill kind of swipe. Available now at Chanel.com.

In terms of similar coverage and feel these remind of the NARS Velvet Lip Glides (which I think are being phased out). Soft almost whipped texture, good coverage, weightless, nice satiny finish with a soft shine. Downside is they are not budge-proof and they do transfer if you touch your lips to a cup or mask (or anything else). I haven’t had a chance to give all 20 shades a full day wear test, although for the handful I have worn, I’ve been able to get very good lasting power. They have stayed fresh looking around 4-5 hours before I took them off for a snack. I do think some of the darker and bolder ones can get even better wear time, but the neutrals I tried wear very nicely on my lips.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Review | The Beauty Lookbook

The Chanel Rouge Allure Laques aren’t scented although there is a soft scent that is hard to describe. It’s exactly what I’d think a lip gloss would smell like – once on the lips I don’t detect the scent very much. Colors and swatches of all 20 shades below.

I wasn’t able to get all 20 lip swatched but here are a few for you. I will try to have the rest of them swatched on the face/lips by the end of the week in a second part. I just got a much-needed hair cut and my stylist added toner to help blend out the remaining highlights and it looks so dark now! Also wearing:

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque 63 Ultimate

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque 65 Imperturbable

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque 66 Permanent

Bottom line, I love what I’ve tried so far. If you loved the Rouge Allure Ink I think you’ll definitely love the Rouge Allure Laque. I feel like I am the only beauty lover that did not like the Rouge Allure Inks in the neutral colors. They barely showed up on my lips and did not last long at all, although the bolder/deeper shades performed well. I think these Rouge Allure Laques are a better version of the Rouge Allure Ink with better coverage (although still medium/natural), better lasting power, and a better glossy finish.

By comparison I think the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion (reviewed here) has the best pigment/coverage and lasting power for a weightless liquid lipstick, although the colors are matte and pull darker while the Rouge Allure Laques are more glossy/translucent.

The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue (swatches here) has the longest wear for a liquid lipstick in the Chanel line, although the concept is different with the full coverage matte base for color and glossy top coat.

If you liked the NARS Velvet Lip Glides you will also love the Chanel Rouge Allure Laques. I know some of you loved them (just like me) while others did not like it because the lasting power wasn’t long enough.

I hope you find these swatches helpful! I have more saved on my Instagram Reels @beautylookbook if you’re looking for swatches in different lighting.

I hope you found this Chanel Rouge Allure Laque review helpful! You can find the Chanel Rouge Allure Laque available now at Chanel.com. Currently available in 20 shades. Also available in a Rouge Allure Laque Trio Set (with 64 Exigence, 73 Invincible and 80 Timeless).

Armani My Way Eau de Parfum | The Beauty Lookbook

I’ve been playing with some new fragrances this holiday season and one of my latest discoveries is the Giorgio Armani My Way Eau de Parfum. Armani has been a favorite since the day it launched and I’m excited to partner with Nordstrom to share a look at this beautiful fragrance alongside some of my go-to makeup staples.

The Armani My Way Eau de Parfum is something I would describe as a bright sweet floral. If you like tuberose and jasmine you will love this. It also has notes of bergamot, orange blossom, vanilla, white musk and cedarwood, but to me the floral notes dominate. It has a slight fruity undertone to it which makes it sweet, but not too sweet. Lasting power is quite amazing – just a few spritzes lasts all day long. It’s definitely one that lifts and brightens the mood – it’s a happy kind of scent!

A few of my makeup staples from Armani include:

Luminous Silk Foundation – among the best of the best for a natural glow foundation with good lasting power, medium coverage and a wide shade range! My match is usually 6.5 or 7 depending on time of year. I am wearing Shade 7 in this post.

Luminous Silk Concealer – one of the best opaque full coverage concealers that is still easy to blend. I wear shade 6.5 for brightening and spot concealing. A little goes a long way so you don’t need a lot.

Eyes to Kill Mascara – I’ve tried this in both the Classic and Wet Waterproof formula. Both have been staples for years for that defined volume and length.

Fluid Sheer – The Fluid Sheers were my very first Armani purchase back when I discovered the line. I really love Shade 2 for the perfect champagne glow. Right now since I’m more tan I like Shade 11 because it’s such a pretty soft bronze. I apply them as a highlighter on the cheek bones.

Armani Makeup Staples: Luminous Silk Foundation, Concealer, Eyes to Kill Mascara, Fluid Sheer

Wearing my favorites listed above. Also wearing the Eye Tint in Shade 44, Neo Nude Powder in 5.5, A-Blush Liquid Tint in 32, Ecstasy Mirror Gloss in 101.

If you’re looking for a gift for someone who already has everything, you can’t go wrong with gifting them their favorite fragrance. It’s something they can always use! If you love sweet florals I think this is worth checking out.
