MAC Loud and Clear + Glow Play Blush Haul

MAC Loud and Clear and Glow Play Blush Haul Picks

I have a MAC haul to share today with swatches and a few beauty looks! I haven’t been this excited about a MAC launch in a long time and I have a MAC Loud and Clear + Glow Play Blush haul today. Several things have already sold out so if you haven’t checked out the collections yet you may have to do a bit of hunting. If you have your eye on anything I highly recommend buying sooner than later. I found mostly hits with the two collection launches and have a few misses.

Glow Play Blush

MAC Glow Play Blush Haul

The Glow Play Blushes ($30 each) are a unique cushiony creamy blush. They have almost a bouncy feel and apply like a hybrid cream-powder. The colors are buildable and also easy to blend out but there were a couple of shades that didn’t show up on my medium skin. Colors I hauled:

  • Totally Synced is a pale lavender, I swatched with a very heavy hand below, on my face it is quite a bit more sheer, for this one to show up I have to layer heavily and once layered, the purple pink is a bit odd on my complexion
  • So Natural is a gorgeous natural beige with a hint of shimmer, this is a very natural color, I also have to layer heavily for this to show up, but I really like that it gives a super natural contour on my face
  • Blush Please is a really pretty natural mauve rose with a slight sheen
  • Cheeky Devil is an ultra pale pink, it’s sheer so it barely shows up on my skin
  • Cheer Up is another light pink, this is also lighter on my complexion and is most likely going to be best for fair to light skin tones
  • That’s Peachy is a pretty soft peach (my favorite!)
  • Groovy is a bright coral peach that I think will be perfect for summer

MAC Glow Play Blush swatches

On my skin I found they lasted all day and blended in seamlessly to the face. They have a slightly creamy feel but dry down to a powdery finish. Texture is really quite nice! My only hope is that the formula won’t dry out in the compact eventually as it’s not sealed 100% and these do feel like creams.

Loud and Clear Lipglass

MAC Loud and Clear Lipglass

I am in love with all of the Loud and Clear Lipglass colors ($18.50 each) – some of the colors are a bit light for my pigmented lips but they layer so well with lipsticks or a liner.

  • Deco A-G0-Go is a pale milky beige, best when layered with a lipstick to soften the color
  • Female Gaze is the prettiest sheer shimmery beige
  • Heart Heist is a pale milky blue-based pink
  • Painted Lady is a perfect light peach
  • Voyeur Is Me is a 90s like pink brown cream

Loud and Clear Lipsticks

MAC Loud and Clear Lipstick Haul

By the time I ordered the Loud and Clear lipsticks a lot of the colors were sold out. Colors I picked are all full coverage, creamy, smooth and last long on the lips:

  • Sugar Sweet Cameo is a pale peach, this is a bit light for my skin, I pair it with a slightly deeper liner and blend with Stripdown, Whirl or Boldy Bare
  • Fleur D’Coral is a bold coral pink
  • Yash is a repromote and part of the regular lineup, this is one of my favorite nudes
  • Baroque the Internet is the prettiest rose pink matte

MAC Loud and Clear Lipstick Swatches

Loud and Clear Eyeshadows

MAC Loud and Clear Eyeshadows Omega and Bougie Babe

Most of the Loud and Clear Eyeshadows looked like mattes and they seemed similar to existing colors. I picked two to try and I found these to be disappointing in texture. They feel ultra dry and aren’t the easiest to blend. They’re more pack on and pat kind of colors for me. I was able to use these to smoke out the eye and pigment is decent. I’m calling these a miss mainly because of the texture.

  • Omega is a repromote which is a matte grey
  • Bougie Babe is a matte brick red brown

MAC Loud and Clear Eyeshadows Omega and Bougie Babe swatches

Loud and Clear Extra Dimension Skinfinishes

MAC Loud and Clear Extra Dimension Skinfinishes

The best items in the collection for me are the Extra Dimension Skinfinishes. These have a really pretty flattering undertone and the shimmer is just perfect! Finish is smooth, pigment is medium but buildable, shimmer isn’t too strong.

  • Post Modernist Peach is a shimmery champagne gold
  • Hot Damnoiselle D’Avignon is a shimmery peach gold

MAC loud and clear collection and glow play blush

Overall some really lovely easy to wear launches for spring! My top picks are the Glow Play Blushes in So Natural, That’s Peachy and Groovy alongside the Extra Dimension Skinfinishes in both colors! I think the lip colors can be easily duped although I do like how the lipsticks and lipglasses layer together in this collection.

You can find the MAC Glow Play Blushes and Loud and Clear Collection out now. I hauled my picks from Nordstrom and MAC.

Have you checked out anything from these launches yet? What did you think?

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia + New Longwear Lip Pencils

February 20, 2020

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia

Chanel launched new Rouge Allures with the Rouge Allure Camelia Collection ($40 each) earlier this year and also revamped all of their Longwear Lip Pencils ($31 each). I have swatches of all 8 of the lipsticks and 15 of the 19 lip pencils.

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia and Velvet Review

The Rouge Allures come in two formulas, Regular Luminous Intense and a Velvet Luminous Matte. These are cased in the beautiful click case and the ends are embossed with a gold camellia. Formula-wise these are really excellent. The Rouge Allure Luminous Intense colors are smooth classic lipsticks, have medium but buildable coverage and have a natural looking sheen to them. I cannot detect any scent or taste. Colors are really pretty for a soft pink or bold look.

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia Luminous Lipsticks

The Regular Rouge Allures in the Camelia packaging:

  • Camelia Blanc 327 is a pale pink that is almost like a clear balm on my lips
  • Camelia Rose 337 is a soft medium girly pink cream
  • Camelia Rouge Metal 607 is a stunning metallic red that isn’t too frosty and has an ultra smooth pearl
  • Camelia Pourpre 637 is my favorite, it’s a wearable deep plum with a very subtle pearl

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia Luminous Lipsticks

Below wearing:

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia Luminous Lipstick swatches

The Rouge Allure Velvets are luminous mattes. They have a soft almost airy feel to them. They’re ultra smooth, non drying, almost feel hydrating, with a soft velvet finish. Pigment is full coverage and very opaque – they’re like one-swipe wonders. I would have loved some more neutrals or lighter colors but every single one in this launch has flawless coverage. Since these are dark they leave a stain on the lips and when the color fades you can still see quite a bit of color left on the lips.

  • Camelia Fuchsia 347 is a bright bold pink
  • Camelia Rouge 357 is a bold orange red
  • Camelia Grenat 617 is a matte plum red
  • Camelia Carmin 627 is a perfect bold red

Chanel Le Crayon Levres New Formula and Colors

The Le Crayon Levres Longwear Lip Pencils have been revamped into all new colors. To me the new formula is very similar to the original, the main difference is the new ones seem more matte and more long-wearing. In the old original formula Nude 05 was the perfect universal pink brown with shimmer. Unfortunately there’s no dupe in the new line although I do think there are a couple colors that pull similar. I have 15 of the 19 new colors swatched. There is also a clear version which acts like a matte lip primer to extend the wear of lipstick. These also come with a lip brush on one end.

Chanel Le Crayon Levres New Formula and Colors

Neutrals below, the ones closest to my natural lip color is Rose Naturel or Pivone:

Chanel Le Crayon Levres New Formula and Colors swatches neutrals

Descriptions:

  • Peachy Nude 154 is a pale milky peach
  • Beige Naturel 156 is a light pink beige
  • Rose Naturel 158 is a medium pink rose peach
  • Nude Brun 162 is a medium brown
  • Pivone 164 is a soft rose
  • Rose VIF 166 is a bright warm pink
  • Swatch comparisons to the original 05 Nude, MAC Whirl, MAC Stripdown and Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk

Deeper and bolder colors:

Chanel Le Crayon Levres New Formula and Colors swatches bolds

Descriptions:

  • Rose Caractere 168 is a bright electric fuschia
  • Bois de Rose 172 is a warm pinky rose with some shimmer
  • Blood Orange 176 is a bold bright orange
  • Rouge Cerise 178 is a bright bold red
  • Rose Framboise 182 is a deeper bright fuschia
  • Rouge Intense 184 is a brick red
  • Berry 186 is a hot pink
  • Rose Poudre 196 is a shimmery warm rose pink
  • Rouge Noir 194 is a satiny matte plum brown

Lasting power is very long with these. I find since they’re mattes there is a tiny bit of tugging on bare lips. These are best applied in a feathering motion for me or applied over a balm/lip primer. I’m still playing around with all the colors but really love the way Rose Naturel, Nude Brun and Pivone wear.

Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia and New Lip Liner Review

Overall some solid launches in the lip department from Chanel. I would recommend buying based on color preference. Formula-wise I think they all wear extremely well. For the lipsticks there aren’t many neutrals but the bold colors are classics that I think will flatter a wide range of skin tones.

You can find the new Chanel Rouge Allure Camelia Lipsticks and Longwear Lip Pencils at Chanel.com and all Chanel counters. I will have the La Fleur Et L’Eau Collection reviewed soon!

New Tom Ford Eye Color Quads

February 17, 2020

Tom Ford beauty new eyeshadow quads

I’m back with a Tom Ford Beauty post! By popular request I have a review and swatches of all five new Tom Ford Eye Color Quads in Arabesque, De La Creme, Mink Mirage, Sous Le Sable and Noir Fume ($88 each for .31/9 g). As a long-time Tom Ford Beauty lover I could not have been more excited about new palettes, especially since most of the new ones are neutrals! Unfortunately most of these are strong misses for me and not as stellar as the other quads in terms of pigment and color payoff. Still I think there are some nice wearable options good for everyday wear.

Top Row: De La Creme, Arabesque, Noir Fume
Bottom Row: Sous le Sable, Mink Mirage

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quads De La Creme, Arabesque, Noir Fume, Sous le Sable, Mink Mirage

More thoughts on each palette below, ranked from best to worst based on my testing experience.

Mink Mirage

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Mink Mirage review

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Mink Mirage swatches

Mink Mirage is the best palette pigment-wise and it has all matte colors. I believe it’s replacing Cocoa Mirage which had some of the most boring colors ever but had amazing pigment and actually looked a lot better on the eyes than in the pan. Mink Mirage has a matte cream, a soft matte brown, a medium brown and smokey black. The powders in this one are easy to blend and perform flawlessly for a nice smokey neutral eye. It’s easy to wear for any occasion and quite versatile to take from day to night.

Wearing:

  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
  • Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter Wand in Peachgasm
  • Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk
  • Charlotte Tilbury Lip Collagen in Rosy Plump
  • Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Mink Mirage

_____________

Noir Fume

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Noir Fume

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Noir Fume Swatches

Noir Fume is the next best one for a soft smokey taupe eye look. It doesn’t swatch the best on the arm but on the eyes it layers beautifully for an effortless smokey eye. There’s a soft sheer ivory which smooth and evens out the lids. Other colors include a sheer golden brown that almost has slight olive tones, a shimmery taupe and a cool deep taupe grey brown matte.

_____________

De La Creme

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad De La Creme

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad De La Creme swatches

De La Creme has the prettiest color scheme out of all the new palettes in my opinion but colors don’t show up on my medium tan skin as well as I had hoped. If you’re light or fair I think it will show up better. It has a perfect warm champagne peach shimmer, a warm copper, a warm soft matte brown and a medium warm matte brown. If I layer heavily on top of a creamy emollient cream base color adheres better on my skin – but I have to pack/pat it on. Any blending causes the colors to sheer out and almost disappear onto the same soft brown wash. I wish this had the same texture as the Nude Dip/Honeymoon quads because I think the color would show up better on the skin.

_____________

Sous le Sable

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Sous Le Sable

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Sous Le Sable swatches

Sous le Sable also has such a gorgeous color palette and it swatches beautifully on my arm, but on my eyes, it disappears into my skin and pigment is barely noticeable. I have to pack on the colors with a heavy hand to see any distinction between the bottom mattes. The shimmery rose is so SO pretty but doesn’t show up on my medium skin. The pale matte rose has decent pigment but the other three didn’t perform as I had hoped. This made my heart sink – the colors are what I had hoped Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk would look like (which gives me a horrible pink eye look). Tom Ford’s Sous le Sable has more brown undertones making the color scheme better – I just wish the colors would actually show up on my lids.

_____________

Arabesque

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Arabesque

Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad Arabesque swatches

Arabesque is the worst of the five. I’m a huge fan of the glitter palettes because I think they make great toppers. I applied these in a patting motion on the lids and there is barely any color. Just sparkle in which case I feel the Golden Peach Cream Eye Duo or even the Golden Mink Quad are much better.

_____________

Tom Ford Eye Color Quads, New Colors Review

Out of all five the only two I truly feel are worth the splurge are Mink Mirage and Noir Fume. The other three are definitely not worth the $88 price tag and are huge disappointments compared to other Tom Ford Quads I’ve tried.

I personally think the color scheme of the new launches are truly beautiful, but that’s where it ends for me. Pigment and color payoff are simply not there which is surprising and disappointing to me considering Tom Ford usually launches high quality products.

Have you tried any of the new quads? What did you think? Did they end up working for you or did you find them patchy/sheer? I bought mine from Nordstrom and Sephora. They’re also available at all Tom Ford Beauty counters now.

Valentine's Beauty Gift Ideas to Treat Yourself

one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine / ten / eleven

I have a mini roundup today with a few last minute Valentine’s Day gift ideas to treat yourself! I will have reviews and swatches of all the makeup items in upcoming blog posts!

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs are still among my favorite gloss formula and I’m beyond thrilled they added three new shades to the full size lineup in Glass Slipper, $weetmouth and Hot Chocolit! The mini Glossy Posse set from holiday is still available (swatches here).

I’ve been thrilled with all the Chanel launches this year! The new Rouge Allure Camelias are all stunning and they’ve also revamped their Longwear Lip Pencil in 19 new shades. The Le Blanc collection just launched online and it’s stunning! There is a new product called the Rosy Light Drops that comes with a pump dispenser. The new Le Vernis in Petale and Fleur de Pecher are both must-haves! (Review, swatches and dedicated posts coming soon.)

For perfume lovers the Chanel Chanel Crayons set has four scented crayons each with a different variation of the Chanel perfume! They’re super cute to keep in the purse for touch ups or to split up and gift away to friends.

So many of you have asked for a review of the latest Diptyque Paris en Fleur Candle. Of course I had to buy it! I’m still undecided about the rose scent – it’s very powdery and I have yet to burn it. I caved mainly for the beautiful packaging.

For new lip oils this season I’d say the best ones for me have been the Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Glosses. They are sheer but I love they way they look and feel! New Romantic is my favorite soft mauve shade.

For the ultimate glow the Natasha Denona Love Glow Cheek Palette is super glowy and shimmery. The diamond powder is the only color that has full on glitter while the other three are more glowy. If you want more of an everyday palette I still think the NARS Overlust Cheek Palette is the best one I’ve seen in quite some time.

The Venus Et Fleur roses are 100% worth the splurge! If you remember from a few years ago Andrew bought me one of the boxes and it lasted well over 12 months! The mini ones are super cute for your desk or vanity. Here’s a snapshot of how they lasted over a year and at the full one-year mark in this post.

Venus Et Fleur Beauty Look Book

There is so much I’ve been wanting to share that’s new in the beauty world – but it’s all been put on hold. I’ve been extremely sick and stuck in bed the past week. Thank goodness I’m finally starting to recover and on my way back to feeling myself. A few more ideas below!

More as soon as I can get back to posting!

Dior Lip Glow Oil Review

February 4, 2020

Dior Lip Glow Oil Review via The Beauty Look Book

There are quite a few new lip oil launches this spring and I have a Dior Lip Glow Oil review and swatches today. There are eight colors available. Six are available at all Dior counters in Pink, Coral, Raspberry, Cherry, Berry, Rosewood (the non-shimmer ones) like Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus etc. and then there are two of which have shimmers with tiny glitter flecks in Pearl and Holo Pink that I found online at Sephora. I ordered five of them.

Dior Lip Glow Oils Pink, Pearl, Raspberry, Holo Pink, Rosewood

Dior Lip Glow Oil

The Dior Lip Glow Oils have a wide cushiony applicator. It allows me to coat the entire lip in one swipe which is nice. They have a thick texture that adheres to the lips and while it feels lush and thick, it’s not greasy or too sticky feeling. It’s comfortable and offers instant hydration to the lips. After testing I have mixed feelings about these. While I like them and think they are lovely the colors all look the same on my lips, even the sparkle ones. They have a slight color enhancing finish to them – they do transform the tint on my lips in a subtle way. Raspberry and Rosewood have the deepest tints to a flushed pink on my complexion.

Colors I bought:

  • 001 Pink is a soft pink
  • 003 Pearl is a clear almost white base with loaded glitter
  • 007 Raspberry is a sheer medium bright pink
  • 010 Holo Pink is a clear pink base with glitter suspended
  • 012 Rosewood is a medium rose

012 Rosewood

Dior Lip Glow Oil 012 Rosewood

The glitter ones have a very subtle glitter effect. I can barely see them in a swatch or on the lips. The shimmers in the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer or holo options for the Dior Addict Lip Glows are a lot more noticeable.

Moisture-wise I don’t think these are the best for a lip treatment. I tried these on numerous occasions and even waited until a super dry lip day to see how these performed. I had dry lips to the point of peeling one morning. Application offered instant relief and moisture as it hugs the lips and acts like a glossy cushion. It stays put for several hours without budging or fading. The main downside for me is the moisture doesn’t stay there. Once it’s off the lips there isn’t any remaining moisture. With other balms, even when they fade or wear off, I feel like lips are left hydrated and feel better. The effect of any hydration seems to only be there when the product is on the lips, once it is off, my lips are left feeling dry again.

I like these as a lush thick gloss with high shine. As a lip oil, it didn’t perform as I had hoped – but that doesn’t make them bad. For moisture I prefer the original stick Dior Addict Lip Glows by far. Even the Addict Lip Maximizers have more lasting hydration on me.

Look wearing 012 Rosewood:

Look wearing same as above for eyes/face, lips are 003 Pearl (which looks pretty much the same):

Dior Lip Glow Oil Review via The Beauty Look Book

If you’re looking for a subtle color-transforming gloss with a lush look and high shine, I’d recommend trying one. I don’t think you need more than one color as they look very similar in my experience. They have a very subtle minty scent but it’s barely noticeable and there’s no tingle or plumping sensation which is a plus for me since my lips are sensitive and often go fully numb with plumpers.

You can find the Dior Addict Lip Glow available at all Dior counters. The shimmer ones appear to be exclusive to Sephora for the moment. I bought all of these from Sephora. Makeup bags shown in most are by The Daily Edited (clear pouch) and Cuyana (mini bright pink bag).

Have you tried these yet? I ordered a few of the new spring items and the Rosewood Dior Addict Lip Glow. Review coming soon!

New Bite Beauty Launches – Haul Picks + Review

January 30, 2020

Bite Beauty New Launches Revamp

Bite Beauty revamped their entire product lineup and I have a haul review to share today! I’m still very sad they discontinued and reformulated the best lip balm I’ve tried but I’m happy to report the new Agave+ is very good.

In today’s haul post:

Agave+ Intensive Vegan Lip Mask

Bite Beauty Agave+ Lip Mask Buzzed

There are two new Agave+ Lip Masks in Clear and Buzzed (rose gold). I bought the tinted version and was pleasantly surprised. I found it hydrating, lush, smooth and lightly scented just like the original just a little less fruity smelling.

Buzzed is a deeper color vs the original Champagne, but it pretty much applies like a very sheer, almost clear shimmer on my lips. I found both new and original formulas worked pretty much the same on my lips. I did not notice any bad taste or bad smell for Buzzed. The only difference is the color and the newer version seems to be slightly thinner in texture, but it’s very very slight.

I’m surprised at all the overwhelmingly negative reviews online at Sephora for the new formula, although most of them seem to be for the Clear Agave color which I did not try. I was full on prepared to hate the new formula, but I don’t. Still I am upset the original was discontinued and wish they had added a new one to the line rather than pull the cult classic.

Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon

Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon review

I really love the new Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayons although they are heavily scented with a fruity scent. They’re described as matte but they still have a slight creamy sheen to the finish on my lips – which is actually a plus since I prefer it that way. These are twist up lip crayons with ultra rich pigment and long lasting power. They’re one swipe wonders pigment-wise although since they’re in crayon form, you do have to swipe multiple times to fill the entire lip. I went for the neutrals. Many of the colors are already sold out online at Sephora, but you can still find them in store (use the zip code locator on their website) and also at Bite Beauty. Colors I bought:

  • Sugarcane – pale creamy pink
  • Amaretto – perfect neutral nude
  • Leche – nude pink
  • Calvados – medium brown nude
  • Glace – mauve
  • Nonino – soft berry mauve
  • Honeycrisp – bright coral pink

Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayons

I didn’t have any of the original lipsticks or pencils to compare. I did a major purge the last move we did over the summer and got rid of a lot of older products I had. Off the top of my head the new Glace looks darker/cooler than what I remember it being and on my complexion it makes me look like death. Sugarcane also feels like it’s lighter/more pastel than what I remember the lipstick being. All the other colors are solid wins for me. My top three favorites are Amaretto, Leche and Nonino.

Below looks wearing Leche and Honeycrisp. Foundation + powder are the new Bite formulas listed below.

Changemaker Skin-Optimizing Primer Normal to Oily

Bite Beauty Changemaker Skin Optimizing Primer Review

There are two primers in the lineup called the Changemaker Skin-Optimizing Primer. I opted for the Normal to Oily version and this is my least favorite product I tried. I used it a few different ways: on bare skin, over the Tatcha Water Cream, over the Tatcha Dewy Cream and over the Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Water Cream. The primer was not compatible with any moisturizer I tried. There was tons of separation from the moisturizer and foundation any time I used the primer.

If you are looking for a good mattifying product that doesn’t add any color to the skin this is a great product. As a foundation primer though it didn’t work for me – it caused the foundation on top to separate no matter how I tried. It also had a silicone feel that sat on my skin in an unpleasant way and made my skin feel a little itchy. Luckily I did not get any allergic reactions but this one was a solid miss for me.

Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation and Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder

Bite Beauty Changemaker Foundation and Powder

For the bases I swatched a few colors in store and decided on M70 for the foundation and Medium 1 for the powder. I found both compatible with my moisturizers (just did not work well with the Bite Beauty primer).

The Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation has smooth medium coverage and is easy to blend with fingers or a sponge. It looks very natural and has a semi-matte finish. There’s enough pigment to cover my freckles and sun spots. I was torn between M65 and M70, I’m probably in the middle right now. Since I’m at my lightest right now and tan easily I opted for M70 which is just a tad too dark but will be an exact match once the sunshine returns.

I found it lasted a long time on my skin, but depending on the moisturizer I used it did have a tendency to settle around my mouth/smile lines a little. Otherwise it performed really well and held up all day without separating or fading. It does have a silicone-like feel to it but it’s not irritating or heavy. I really liked that there was no darkening or oxidation on my skin. I like it a lot but it’s not my favorite formula.

I found the Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder shades odd as a lot of them looked really peachy. Powders tend to darken a lot on my skin so I went with a color I thought would be a little bit lighter. Medium 1 works perfectly for my skin – it’s semi-sheer and applies smoothly with a brush to set/mattify the entire face. It’s very lightweight and I like it a lot! I haven’t tried it with other foundation formulas but I love it with the Bite Beauty foundation.

Bare skin, applying foundation, foundation all over and then set with powder below, wearing Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation in M70 and Pressed Powder in Medium 1. Sweater by Everlane.

Bite Beauty Foundation and Powder before after bare skin

Overall I found the new Agave+ Lip Mask and Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayons to be hits for me. I really wanted to love the new base products but it’s not 100% love. The primer is a miss. The foundation and powder are good, but not holy grail material for me. I will continue to reach for them and use both, but they’re not must-haves.

Have you checked out the new Bite Beauty launches yet? What did you think of the new lip mask versus the original?

You can find the new Bite Beauty launches at Sephora and online at Bite Beauty. I hauled my picks from Sephora.

Chanel Nail Polish

Best Chanel Le Vernis Neutrals + Soft Shades for Spring

January 23, 2020

Best Chanel Le Vernis Neutrals

By popular request I’m rounding up my favorite Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Polish neutrals! This has been one of my favorite nail polish formulas as long as I can remember. I’ve been a fan through several reformulations and love the colors they launch. I’ve also added a few other softer mauves and purples I think are nice for spring with swatch comparisons.

Most of these you can still find now at Chanel.com and most retailers, although some colors are limited-edition and are harder to find (like Afterglow and Chicness). Organdi is the one I wear the most and also the shade I get the most compliments on. A lot of you wanted swatch comparisons to see the different undertones and depth.

Below left to right is: Blanc White 548, Afterglow 703, Organdi 504, Bleached Mauve 646, Daydream 735, Chicness 612 (discontinued, from cruise 2018), Purple Ray 709 and Mirage 739

Chanel Nail Polish Blanc White, Organdi, Bleached Mauve and Daydream

Below swatch set 2, all available at Chanel.com still except Chicness (discontinued) and Afterglow (but still available at Saks right now):

Chanel Le Vernis New Dawn, Afterglow, Purple Ray, Chicness and Mirage

My top three favorites right now include Organdi (probably my most-worn neutral), Daydream (new for spring-summer 2020) and Afterglow (from cruise 2019).

I like to use these with the Chanel Le Gel Top Coat for extra shine and lasting power. If you apply properly you will find these last a long time. If you’re getting tip wear or chipping, it’s likely you’re not coating the tip enough with polish or the top coat. Just like any paint, when it dries, the product shrinks so make sure you paint all the way around to the tops. Also note that not all top coats are compatible. For example Seche Vite is a great brand for quick dry top coats, but it runs on the thick side and always shrinks on me no matter what brand of polish I use. As it shrinks it pulls the polish around the edges and causes early tip wear.
