Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine Refillable Lipstick Review

Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine Refillable Lipstick Review

Sisley launched their new Phyto-Rouge Shine Lipsticks ($60, refills are $48) and I have six to share swatches of today. I’m always excited for Sisley newness and I was thrilled to see new spring colors for lips in a shine formula (I’m all about a glossy lip!). The Phyto-Rouge Shine Lipsticks are extremely steep in price at $60 each. They are refillable with the refills being $48 each (still very spendy). I think these are the best shine lipsticks I’ve ever tried.

Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine Refillable Lipstick Review

The Phyto-Rouge Shine Lipsticks have medium buildable coverage. I think the color payoff is exceptionally good for a shine lipstick. These feel very comfortable on the lips. They’re like a balm + lipstick + gloss hybrid in one. They glide perfectly on the lips and the texture is perfect: smooth, creamy, not too soft, not too thick, perfectly hydrating. There is a subtle sweet vanilla like scent.

Lips feel smooth and hydrated with these. There is a slight plumping effect with the shine and hydration but it doesn’t feel like a plumping lip product.

Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine Refillable Lipstick Review

The Sisley team kindly sent four to review. I purchased two more. The colors are flawless straight out of the tube. I couldn’t ask for more in a shine lipstick formula. Lasting power is pretty good for a shine lipstick. It won’t be super long wearing as it is a glossy finish but it’s a lipstick I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day.

  • 10 Sheer Nude is a sheer light nude pink with a subtle sparkle, coverage is impressive for a nude this light in color (a lot of colors like this are either too pale or too sheer on me, but this one is perfect!)
  • 11 Sheer Blossom is a warm cream pink with a hint of peach
  • 20 Sheer Petal is a perfect pink cream
  • 21 Sheer Rosewood is a pretty rose pink with a slight shimmer
  • 22 Sheer Raspberry is a perfect raspberry pink with a subtle silver shimmer
  • 40 Sheer Cherry is the perfect true cherry red with shimmer

Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine Refillable Lipstick Review

Every single color I tried is perfect. It’s hard to pick a favorite although I love Sheer Blossom and Petal – I love the pink tones! I think I have a good color selection right now although I have been eyeing the Sheer Cocoa and Coral colors. I decided to wait and splurge on some of the new Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait Lipsticks (review coming soon).

Chanel La Comete for Spring 2022

Chanel La Comete Rouge Allure Velvet Review

I have a look at the Chanel La Comete Collection for spring today! Chanel launched eight new shades of the Rouge Allure Velvet ($42) lipsticks and two new Blush Comete ($70) shades, all available now online at Chanel.com.

New Rouge Allure Velvet La Comete

Chanel La Comete Rouge Allure Velvet Review

The new Rouge Allure Velvet La Comete lipsticks are beautiful! Most of them far surpassed my expectations. They’re a smooth, weightless luminous matte with a slight hint of shimmer. Pigment is medium but layerable. I like all of them all with the exception of one shade which I found terribly patchy. The colors have a classic vibe, some may feel they’re more fall-winter colors. I do think there are a few that are neutral-enough to wear year round. The bolds are more classic colors I think you can wear for date nights, or if bolds are more your style.

These come packaged in the classic Rouge Allure lipstick case but the ends have an embossed star which is supposed to be the good luck symbol for Gabrielle Chanel.

On the arms/hands the pearlescent quality is more noticeable, but on the lips the shimmer translates into a subtle luminous quality – not really shimmery, but not fully matte either.

  • 108 Terre D’Etoiles is a gorgeous wearable brown pink
  • 118 Bois de Rose Astral is the perfect kind of medium rose pink I’ve been looking for for AGES!
  • 128 Rose Eclatant is an electric warm red
  • 138 Rouge Vie Radiant is a deeper red with cool tones
  • 148 Rouge Cosmique is a classic red
  • 158 Brun Solaire is a red brown
  • 168 Pourpre Etoile is a plum
  • 178 Brun Celeste is a sheer blackened plum with silver sparkle, this is the only one I found patchy

Blush Comete

Next we have a look at the two Blush Comete Soft Glow Blushes. They have a stripe embossed texture and a star on the surface. It’s not quite an overspray because it takes a few uses and brush swipes before the star design disappears. I really loved the texture and finish of these! On my medium tan skin tone Peche Cosmique is almost a highlighter, it’s pale on my skin and adds a soft diffused pale glow. Corail Etoile is a pink coral with a subtle shimmer to it. Both have a subtle sheen but they aren’t frosty or too shimmery.

Chanel La Comete Spring Collection

Bottom line: Excellent quality, beautiful colors, lovely textures. Solid A+ (except for one of the lipsticks). That being said there are lots of new launches coming out, the new Rouge Allure L’Extrait Lipsticks just launched online and I’m excited to try the new formula! Colors look brighter and more spring-summer like to me.

New Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipsticks and Lip Liners

Anastasia Beverly Hills launched new Satin Velvet Lipsticks ($23 each) and Lip Pencils ($18 each) and they looked so beautiful on Instagram I couldn’t help but order a bunch to try. It’s been a while since I’ve tried any of her lipsticks since I only remember her launching mattes in the past. This round she has a new Satin Velvet Lipstick formula which is more like a regular lipstick. Her Lip Liners looked promising, and I love the square shape! I hauled 6 of each. Here are my thoughts, swatches and lip looks.

Satin Lipsticks

New Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipsticks

Satin Velvet Lipstick ($23 each) is more like a satin lipstick. It’s not really that velvety to me and I am 100% ok with that. They’re ultra pigmented, smooth, creamy and have great lasting power. (I still like to use a lip primer underneath to smooth/prep the lips like the MAC Prep and Prime Lip.)

Formula is really good and I love the sleek slim no-fuss packaging. Color selection seems pretty good too although with nudes and neutrals it’s always hard to see how it will look on the lips. A few of these were misses for me simply because the color doesn’t work for my skin tone or lip tone.

  • Tease is pale pink peach and looks like washed out death on me, would probably work if I paired it with a liner and gloss (similar to Tom Ford Blush Nude on me which looks great on so many others, but not me)
  • Warm Peach is a light warm peach orange, also a bit pale for me on its own, but if I add a brown liner I can make it owkr
  • Peach Bud is my favorite, it’s the perfect mix of peach and pink
  • Praline is an easy to wear neutral nude on my lips
  • Dusty Rose is a light rose neutral, goes on my lips lighter than what I see in the tube, but if you don’t have pigmented or brown tones in your lip, then this will look more true to tube
  • Taupe Beige is a neutral cool-toned pink beige

Lip Liner

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liners New

The Lip Liners ($18 each) are your basic everyday lip pencil. I like that they’re not too creamy and not too stiff. They do tug a little but it’s not so matte that it drags. I’m still in the process of testing different combinations but I swatched them on their own below on the lips so you could see the color.

  • Baby Roses is actually a wearable pale peach on me! I was worried it would be too pale, but it works on me!
  • Hazelnut is a cool-toned brown (not my color, but looks pretty in the arm swatch)
  • Deep Taupe is a deeper cool-toned brown
  • Warm Taupe is a warmer taupe brown
  • Sunbaked is an interesting peach, warm but not orange, I love it!
  • Dusty Rose is a deep plum rose brown

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipstick + Lip Liner Review

Overall I think they’re all worth checking out. After testing what I ordered and looking at other reviews I would have probably skipped the lipsticks in Tease and Warm Peach and opted for the Soft Brown or Rosy Brown instead.

They do appear to be permanent which is nice (even though some of the colors keep selling out). I still have some more lipstick reviews coming soon for the new Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine, Natasha Denona I Need a Rose, Chanel La Comete and Hermes Shine lipsticks! So stay tuned!

Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks and liners yet? What did you think?

New Tom Ford Beauty Launches at Nordstrom

More spring beauty launches are starting to trickle in and I’m excited for new formulas, fresh colors and pretty palettes that are coming out! I hauled some of the new Tom Ford Beauty launches from Nordstrom and I think there are some winners!

Tom Ford Beauty Eye Color Quad Creme and Satin Matte Rose Garden Lip Colors

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Creme Eyeshadow Palettes

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Creme

Tom Ford launched a new eye palette formula called the Eye Color Quad Creme Eyeshadow Palettes ($89 each). These have a unique creme to powder finish that are ultra smooth with a good mix of matte, satin and shimmers. Texture is really unique in the sense that they have a creamy texture and feel but aren’t super emollient like a traditional cream. Colors are easy to blend and layer.

Rose Topaz is a neutral-cool palette with a nude beige pink (almost my skin tone), warm champagne, sparkling silvery taupe and a cool-toned brown with plum tones. Quality is excellent and tones are beautiful. It does pull more cool-toned on my medium olive skin, if you have neutral fair tones I think it will pull more neutral on you.

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Creme Rose Topaz

_____

Tiger Eye is my favorite with a shimmery light peach, shimmery coral golden peach, shimmery light taupe bronze and satin warm deep brown. I think this will be great for spring to summer.

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Creme in Tiger Eye

_____

Smoky Quartz is an all matte/satin finish palette with a light bark tan, medium light pink terracotta brown, cocoa brown and black-brown. This one surprised me because it looked darker in the pan and swatches than it applies on the eyes. On the eyes it’s almost like a deep but still natural contour eye palette and I love it!

There is definitely a powdery dry down with these on my eyes. It has a soft lightweight texture. Lasting power is quite good. I think all three make for great everyday kind of wear.

New Tom Ford Lip Colors

Tom Ford Private Rose Garden Satin Matte Lip Colors Rose d’Amalfi and Rose de Chine

For the lips Tom Ford launched three new Private Rose Garden Satin Matte Lip Colors ($60 each) to go alongside his new Private Blend Rose Garden Fragrances (also available in minis in the Tom Ford Private Blend Roses Travel Set + Atomizer $200). I bought 2 of the 3 shades in Rose d’Amalfi which is a matte light rose pink and Rose de Chine which is a stunning warmer coral rose. Both have an ultra smooth texture, rich pigment, matte finish and long lasting power.

For a lot of matte lip colors, I’ll prep the lips with something like the MAC Prep + Prime Lip which is a lipstick base to help smooth the lip surface. It also prevents feathering and holds lip color in place.

Tom Ford also launched a couple of his best selling shades in the Rose Prick Lip Color Collection. Shades include Indian Rose (one of my favorite shades) and in Casablanca (deeper rose). The colors are the same as the regular lip color formula, the only difference is the packaging is pink and black which is super fun!

EM Cosmetics Masterpiece Collection Review

The most beautiful makeup collection of my dreams has launched from EM Cosmetics with their new Masterpiece Collection! Everything is absolutely stunning and I highly recommend checking it out. I haven’t been this excited about a new makeup launch in quite a long time. You can find each piece available at EM Cosmetics.

In this collection:

Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette

EM Cosmetics Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palette

The Divine Skies Eyeshadow Palettes have a beautiful texture, amazing pigment, and ultra smooth texture that is layerable and easy to blend.

Rodin is like the palette of my dreams! It’s a neutral palette with a slight hint of warmth to make it super wearable with shimmers and mattes. It has a Tom Ford Nude Dip kind of vibe but with more warmth, variation and contrast between the shades for a complete eye look (while the Tom Ford shades are cooler toned and a bit more frosty). Their online swatches are very good on different skin tones so definitely check those out! It has a neutral champagne gold, a sparkling champagne opal kind of color, shimmery bronze taupe, matte fawn, matte warm cocoa and matte deeper brown.

Da Vinci is the darker variation with three shimmers in a pale shimmery peachy copper, an olive gold shimmer, copper shimmer, terracotta brown orange matte, warm matte brown, and a deep matte brown.

Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Blush

EM Cosmetics Heaven's Glow Blushes in Baroque and Rococo

The Heaven’s Glow Radiant Veil Blush is a unique blush that has a beautiful subtle glow. Baroque is a light pale neutral with a hint of pink and beige. It’s hard to see on camera but it does show up as a very subtle pale neutral glow on the skin. In the summertime I think it will make for a beautiful subtle highlight on my skintone.

Rococo is a stunning medium-deeper neutral shade. It’s a glowing mauve brown neutral with a subtle pearl.

EM Cosmetics Heaven's Glow Blushes in Baroque and Rococo swatches

Lip Cushion Tinted Lip Luminizer

EM Cosmetics Tinted Lip Cushions

Last but not least there are two new shades of the Lip Cushion Tinted Lip Luminizer. This is one of my favorite lip formulas for a creamy tinted wash of color. They’re ultra pigmented, have a twist click up applicator and have good hydration. Mona Lisa is a neutral-cool beige and Van Gogh is a terracotta rose.

A few of you asked how this compares to the Tarte Maracuja Lip Balms. I love both formulas for a tinted lip balm. The EM Cosmetics formula is creamier/thicker and more opaque. Tarte’s formula is glossier with a more translucent quality so it looks glossier on the lips.

EM Cosmetics Masterpiece Collection Review

I love every piece of the collection. If you’re a neutral makeup lover like me I think you’ll love these too. It’s a nice change from the warm red and orange tones that are super popular these days.

Chanel No 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation Review BD41

I hauled a few items from the latest No 1 de Chanel Skincare collection and have a review with some thoughts to share today! The lineup has products with their Red Camellia extract and oils to refresh and hydrate the skin. You can find the collection now at Chanel.com and Ulta Beauty. What I hauled:

I skipped most of the new skincare and tested everything with other Chanel skincare items I own and love including the Hydra Beauty Water Cream, Hydra Beauty Micro Serum and La Solution 10 de Chanel. The new foundation formula worked beautifully with these.

No 1 de Chanel Haul + Review

Revitalizing Foundation

Chanel Revitalizing Foundation in BD41

The No 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation is a fluid illuminating foundation with sheer-medium coverage. It’s very lightweight with a nice glowy finish. On its own it’s very glowy but I liked that it wasn’t greasy feeling. It has a plumping smoothing effect on the skin with the Red Camellia Oil. Finish has medium lasting power even when set with a powder. Since it’s dewy/luminous adding a powder on top will cancel out the shine and glow with most formulas. I found the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder added on top helped set and tone down the shine but still allowed the glow to show through.

I picked B40 and BD41 and my perfect shade match now is BD41. I also picked up B50 for summer.

Overall feels and looks nice on the skin. If you have oily skin it may be too hydrating for you. Right now it works for me but in the summer months I suspect I will gravitate more towards the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation or CC Cream.

Compared to the Les Beiges Moisturizing Tint the new No 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation has more coverage, a more fluid texture and is more lightweight.

Just the Revitalizing Foundation in BD41 on the skin:

Lip and Cheek Balm

No 1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm in Healthy Pink, Wake-Up Pink, Lively Rosewood

There are six shades of the Revitalizing Lip and Cheek Balms. I picked three to try knowing that there would be a chance I would not like these on the cheeks and I was right. These are luminous tinted balms. Applied with the fingers you will get a more lightweight tint but if you apply them with a lip brush you will get more pigment.

I have mixed feelings about these. They’re not bad, the quality and performance is quite good. But they are too dewy for my personal taste on the cheeks and I found they had no dry down which makes them have a sticky texture. They have a more sticky/tacky feel compared to the Baume Essentiel sticks but have the same amount of glow/shine in the finish.

On the lips they’re more comfortable and easier to wear but I would have preferred something in a twist up stick format instead.

No 1 de Chanel L’eau Rouge Fragrance Mist and Revitalizing Serum-In-Mist

Chanel L’eau Rouge Fragrance Mist + Revitalizing Serum-In-Mist

The last two items I hauled are my favorite! The No 1 de Chanel L’eau Rouge Fragrance Mist was a huge surprise for me. It has a soft refreshing soothing kind of scent to it. To me it’s hard to describe, it has a similar vibe to the Hydra Beauty skincare line and also smells like some of the Shiseido skincare line. Chanel describes it as:

“Opening with an energetic burst of citrus and red berries, the scent unfurls into a heart of jasmine and rose, the iconic signature of the House’s fragrance, along with comforting iris and musk notes.”

To me this is a must-have but I know scent is so personal it might not be for everyone. It’s currently sold out at Chanel but still available at Ulta and I am ordering a backup.

I also really adore the No 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Serum-In-Mist. It’s a bi-phase formula with Red Camellia Oil and camellia water for a dewy refreshed mist of moisture. The oil is noticeable on the skin but it’s still lightweight. If you don’t like the emollient feel I’d recommend their Hydra Beauty Essence Mist instead for a more lightweight feel.

No 1 de Chanel Haul + Review

No 1 de Chanel Haul + Review

Overall some nice pieces in the collection. I think the foundation is beautiful but it’s not my favorite simply because I prefer something with more coverage and something less dewy. The stand outs are the L’Eau Rouge and Revitalizing Serum-In-Mist. I like the concept of infusing makeup with skincare.

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Review

January 21, 2022

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Review

The latest from NARS is their Light Reflecting Foundation ($49, available in 36 shades) and new shades of the Light Reflecting Setting Loose Powder ($39, now in 4 shades). I posted a video on my Instagram Reels showing the application of the foundation in Sahel and so many of you had more questions about the formula I thought I’d do a full review!

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Sahel Review

The new NARS Light Reflecting Foundation is a foundation with skincare benefits described as a formula that will blur, smooth, conceal and maintain moisture. According to NARS the formula is 70% skincare. The NARS team sent a few shades and I found my best match to be either Santa Fe M2 or Sahel M2.5. I’m at my lightest right now, most of the year I’m usually a match to Vanuatu M3.5 or Barcelona M4.

In case you missed the tutorial you can watch it below:

The foundation finish has a natural glow and an easy to blend formula with medium coverage. I found it covered most of my sun spots and freckles without looking too heavy. I really don’t need concealer with this foundation! It has a lightweight feel I don’t feel it on my skin.

I would say texture is the biggest difference between this one and other NARS foundations. It has a more natural look and lighter texture compared to the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation (reviewed a few years ago here).

A lot of you also asked how it compared to the Sheer Glow Foundation formula and I wish I could compare but can’t. I used it for a while when it launched, loved it, and then suddenly developed an allergic reaction to it so I stopped using it. I have no issues with the new Light Reflecting Foundation though.

I haven’t used this new formula enough to notice skincare benefits but I like the way it looks, blends out and feels on the skin. It does have a natural light reflecting quality to look like my skin but better. It is a long wear foundation that adheres to the skin so I find it essential to double cleanse at the end of the day. It’s not challenging to remove like a waterproof mascara but with all newer longer wearing foundations and powders these days you will need to take a little extra care at the end of the day to remove all of it at night.

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Review

Side by side with Foundation vs No Foundation (applied with a beautyblender)

NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Sahel Review

The Light Reflecting Loose and Pressed Powders used to be in heavy rotation when they first launched in the translucent Crystal shade. Both are stark white in the compact but smooth and set foundation without adding any white tint. I’m thrilled they decided to add more shades which I think will be better for tan to deeper skin tones.

Both the pressed and loose powders have NARS’ light reflecting complex. It diffused light, blurs out fine lines and has a soft look without any flashback in flash photos.

NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder in Crystal

You can see the Light Reflecting Pressed Powder in Crystal in action in my Reel (linked above). I highly recommend giving it a try! It has a very stiff texture in the pan. If you swipe a brush you will almost think no product is being picked up on the brush but once you apply to the face you will see the transformation!

Here’s a closer look at the Light Reflecting Loose Powder in Shore for medium to medium-deep skin tones. It looked a little dark in the jar but I am pleased to report it doesn’t darken my foundation. This one has a mesh sifter cover and a lid to prevent spilling/leakage. It has a superfine light feel, almost like air.

NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder in Shore

NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder in Shore

One more quick look at one of my favorite concealers in the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger. Right now I find Macadamia a better match for spot concealing/brightening. I could probably use Custard too, but most of the year I’m either Macadamia or Ginger. In the summer I go as deep as Praline.
