Charlotte Tilbury Quick and Easy Looks

Charlotte Tilbury launched five instant-look sets in her new Quick and Easy Collection. These are kit trios with cream twist up sticks packaged in a mirrored cases for busy women on-the-go. I was intrigued by the concept and ordered a few. There are five color variations total. Kits are priced at $75 each but each component is available separately as a refill ($27 for the highlighter, $20 for the eye wand, $27 for the lip + cheek wand, $20 for the case). All available online at Charlotte Tilbury.

Each kit has 1 Easy Lip and Cheek Wand, 1 Easy Eye Wand and 1 Easy Highlighter Wand. While doing some research on the colors I found that while there are 5 different Easy Lip & Cheek Wands and 5 Easy Eye Wands, the Easy Highlighter Wand is available in 2 colors.

on the nails: Dior Vernis Bayadere 633

I bought 3 kits and 2 refills. After playing around with these I have mixed thoughts. I love the concept and the colors are beautiful. The packaging is clever and super convenient for on-the-go whether you want to throw it into your purse or travel. Quality and color payoff of the products is excellent. Here are my thoughts on each product.

The Easy Lip and Cheek Wands are really nice! I liked them more than I thought I would. I usually don’t like products that are for both lip + cheek because I find them either too dewy or too dry. These work for both. Swiping on the lips gives you medium to full color payoff. Finish on the cheeks is more subtle once you blend it out. Not 100% matte, still a little creamy, but not super emollient.

The Easy Highlighter Wands come in two colors and if you’re a fan of the dewy highlighter look they’re really nice. They don’t have a dry down and remain dewy but I wouldn’t call them quite as dewy as the Chanel Baume Essentiels. On my skin these have a nice shimmer glow without glitter or frost.

My thoughts on the Easy Eye Wands are mixed. Pros: once they set they are budge-proof, colors are buildable and easy to blend (but you have to work quickly), color selection is nice! Cons: a single shade isn’t enough for a complete eye look, product is a little bit dry so there is a bit of tugging on the skin but once you warm it up it’s easier to work with, product size is very small.

Onto a look at the kits! Swatches below:

Charlotte Tilbury Quick and Easy swatches

Pretty Fresh

I bought the refills for the Pretty Fresh Look with just the Easy Eye Wand and Easy Lip & Cheek Wand. On my skin the Pretty Fresh eye color is a neutral champagne shimmer that pretty much matches my eye lid color so it was nearly invisible once blended. In the look below I added the Easy Eye Wand in Golden Glow.

Pretty Fresh Lip & Cheek is a pretty vibrant coral pink. I think it’s fun and fresh for summer. I also added the Easy Highlighter Wand in Chic Glow which is a pale opal shimmer. Skin-tone wise I’m wearing the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation in Shade 7 now.

Overall Thoughts

I love the concept and the quality is on point. However I don’t think these are going to give you a “complete” look unless you’re more of a minimalist and want just a subtle pop of color to refresh your look. These kits will cover the basics and I think they’re great for a quick and easy look. As much as I love a simple eye look I find I still need 3 colors for the eyes. Another downside is the price. I think the price points are fairly steep given the size.

I like that you can buy the individual shades. The compact is clever and holds everything in place so product doesn’t get lost in your bag. Individuals also come with caps so the product is sealed. Overall I really love the Lip & Cheek Shades. I think they’re nice for that quick and easy look for both the lips and cheeks. All the colors I tried are super wearable and have good color payoff.

If you were looking for swatches and a review I hope you found this post helpful! I don’t know that I can call them must-haves. I like the concept, quality is great and I will use them.

You can find these available at Charlotte Tilbury right now. Have you checked these out? What did you think?

Dior Addict Lipstick + Forever Skin Glow Foundation Reformulations

May 14, 2022

New Dior Beauty Launches Addict Lipstick + Forever Skin Glow Foundation

I put a few of the newly reformulated products from Dior Beauty to the test! They revamped their Addict Lipsticks and Forever Skin Glow + Matte Foundations and several of you have been asking for a review. I have a look + swatches at some of the new launches for you today.

Addict Lipstick (New)

New Dior Addict Lipstick Review

The new Dior Addict Lipsticks are a shine formula that’s refillable with added hydration and shine. They’re available in a wide range of colors retailing at $39 and refills priced at $32.

The formula is described as offering 24 hours of hydration and 6 hours of wear. They do feel comfortable on the lips with a nice glossy finish and hydrating feel. They have natural medium coverage with medium lasting power. In terms of lasting power I don’t think I could get 6 hours of wear with these. They do stay put as long as I don’t touch my lips to anything but between drinking water, coffee, snacking I can’t avoid contact and it does transfer. However it’s a formula I don’t mind re-applying. They have a sweet almost candy-like scent but it’s not too strong or overpowering.

The Dior Addict Lipsticks are refillable and there are three different cases you can purchase separately to interchange your lipstick in a fun case. Cases retail for $28 each which I find a little steep but they’re fun and I thought they were pretty so I splurged on the Pink and Denim one. They seem to be sold out everywhere right now but I hope they will restock soon.

Dior Addict Lipsticks New + Cases

New Dior Addict Lipstick Review

Lipstick shades I picked include:

  • 100 Nude Look is my perfect everyday nude pink
  • 329 Tie and Dior is a pale cool rose pink
  • 331 Mimirose is a soft peachy nude
  • 537 Atelier is my lips-but-better pink beige brown
  • 422 Rose de Vents is a pretty rose pink
  • 525 Cherie is a warmer deeper rose with some shimmer

On the lips below, also wearing:

Dior Addict Lipstick 100 Nude Look

Dior Addict Lipstick Tie and Dior

Dior Addict Lipstick Mimirose

Dior Addict Lipstick Atelier

Dior Addict Lipstick Rose des Vents

Dior Addict Lipstick Cherie

My favorites are Nude Look, Rose de Vents and Cherie. I ordered mine without testing them (they didn’t have testers when I went to look). Now that I’ve had a chance to sample some I think I would have opted for some of the brighter fun shades like Rose Bobby, Rose Bagatelle or Dioriviera for more variation.

Overall really love these. If I could do it over would have picked a few different brighter colors!

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation in 3N

Dior reformulated their Forever Skin Glow Foundation and the Matte Foundation and the reviews out there have been mixed. I tried the Glow variation which has been revamped to contain 86% skincare with more hydration and improved lasting power. I really loved the original and I think the new one performs the same on me, but I would say your mileage may vary depending on your skin type and sensitivities to alcohol (it’s high on the ingredient list). My skin is hit or miss with formulas that have alcohol and I was fortunate to find this worked for me.

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation in 3N

The colors in my shade range are different in the original versus new version. I’m usually in the N neutral range for Dior foundations. In the original version I was a match to 2.5N because 3N oxidized and darkened once it set. The newer version seems to be more true neutral in undertone (see swatches below) and I had no oxidizing with the new formula. For the new version 3N is a good match. Feedback from a lot of you indicates many also experienced the same color-wise with the new formula (better undertone, no oxidation, good wear time).

The new Dior Forever Skin Glow has medium coverage with a glowy finish. Formula evens out skin tone enough that I don’t need concealer. It makes the complexion glow and look radiant. For me it worked well on top of several different moisturizers like the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Hydrating Moisturizer. (I tried it over quite a few!) Overall I think it’s a very good formula, but if you are sensitive to alcohol ingredients it probably will be irritating to your skin.

Dior Forever Bronzer and Backstage Blush

I recently partnered with Dior Beauty to share a makeup look in action with some of the new launches. You can see the video on Reels here. I know some of you still prefer blog posts with images as a reference guide so I thought I’d swatch everything and share some more thoughts here too.

The Dior Forever Nautral Bronzer is one of the best matte bronzers I’ve tried. It’s available in 8 shades (biggest shade selection is available online at Dior.com while other retailers seem to only carry a few shades) and I’ve tried Shade 03 Soft Bronze and 05 Warm Bronze and love both. It’s a natural bronzer with a matte finish and doesn’t look muddy. Shades range from ultra light to deep. For the Summer Dioriviera Collection they have Shade 04 and 05 with the limited-edition embossed texture which I think is beautiful!

Dior Forever Nautral Bronzer in Shade 05

The Backstage Blush is often sold out but pops back in stock every now and then. If you find it I do recommend it! The Pink shade gives the skin a very soft pink glow. The flush depends on how much you layer onto the skin. If you don’t want to wait to track this down I find that NARS Blush in Thrill gives me a similar effect.

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes

The Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow palettes are some of the most under-rated palettes! If you’re not into the trendy warm or red tones, Dior offers quite a few neutrals and neutral-cool options. The one I wear the most is Nude Dress. They still have a lot of more bold and trendy variations too. Formula this round has improved significantly in terms of better color payoff than older versions.

Last mention is yet another rave for the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara. It’s been one of my favorites for nearly a year now. It’s the best for volume and holding a curl on my super straight lashes. The brush can get some buildup after a while but I just wipe it clean with a piece of paper and it’s like brand new again. I love it with their Diorshow Lash Primer which I’ve purchased and repurchased countless times.

Eye Makeup Sisley-Paris

Sisley Phyto-Khol Star Matte & Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows

May 11, 2022

Sisley Phyto-Khol Star Matte & Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows

Always excited for newness from Sisley and today I have a look their Phyto-Khol Star Matte ($62 each) & Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows ($58 each).

Phyto-Khol Star Matte

Sisley Phyto-Khol Star Matte

The Phyto-Khol Star Eyeliners are long-wear eyeliners and now come in matte shades. I really loved the sparkling shimmers but love that they have a non-shimmer version now. These are in a retractable twist-up style. Formula is creamy and smooth. There’s no tugging in the application and they are long-wearing. Pigment is ultra-rich and intense. I’ve played around with the black shade and brown colors and they’re long-wearing without smudging.

Sisley Phyto-Khol Star Matte review

Colors include

  • 1 Matte Onyx – intense black
  • 2 Matte Tonka – deep brown
  • 3 Matte Jungle – deep jungle green
  • 4 Matte Graphite – grey
  • 5 Matte Peacock – matte blue
  • 6 Matte Chestnut – matte brown

Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows

Sisley Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows review

The newest makeup launch includes six new shimmery metallic eyeshadows called the Ombre Eclat Liquide. They’re quite expensive but the colors are stunning, formula is super long-wearing once it dries and sets and I love the finish. Every single shade is a stunner!

Formula is a nice pigmented liquid. They blend easily before they dry/set but once they set they don’t budge. Layering wise you will need to work quickly to blend if you use more than one shade. They come with a sponge tip applicator and if I’m applying one single color all over the lid it’s easy to brush onto the eye lids and blend with a finger. If I want more intense color then I find it easier to take a cream eyeshadow brush (I like MAC 242) and swipe it on the sponge applicator to pick up product, then brush it onto the lids.

Colors include

  • 1 Champagne – shimmery champagne pale gold
  • 2 Copper – shimmery soft fawn
  • 3 Pink Gold – pretty pink with subtle gold shimmer
  • 4 Coral – warm copper pink shimmer
  • 5 Bronze – shimmering brown with gold shimmer
  • 6 Wild – sparkling olive green with gold flecks

Sisley Ombre Eclat Liquide Eyeshadows

My favorite so far is Pink Gold Shade 3. I love mixing it with Shade 4 Coral or any of the brown tones. I think they’re the perfect effortless wash of color for summer, especially for a nice vacation look!

NARS

NARS Summer Unrated

May 3, 2022

NARS Summer Unrated 2022

NARS launched a few new items recently including their Summer Unrated Collection with an eyeshadow palette, three cheek duos and a lip balm called the Orgasm Lip Mask. I have swatches for you today!

Summer Unrated Blush & Bronzer Duos

NARS Summer Unrated Blush Bronzer Duos

There are three Blush and Bronzer Cheek Duos, each with a blush and bronzer in a large mirrored compact. I have the Orgasm + Laguna and Orgasm X + Casino variations. Colors are repromotes and quality with these palettes is very good (just like the singles). They’re nice for a summer glow. Texture is smooth, pigment is medium but buildable, lasting power is great.

Orgasm is a peachy pink with gold shimmer and Laguna is a medium tan. Below wearing:

NARS Summer Unrated Blush Bronzer Duo Orgasm Laguna

Orgasm X is a deeper coral pink with gold shimmer and Casino is a deeper bronze. Wearing the same base as above but with different eyeshadows in the lighter/golden/bronze tones instead and with the Orgasm Lip Mask on lips (goes on clear).

Summer Unrated Eyeshadow Palette

NARS Summer Unrated Eyeshadow Palette

The Summer Unrated Eyeshadow Palette is a stunning one! It has a beautiful mix of mattes and shimmers with a couple sparkle shades. Every single color performed well on me. They’re smooth, pigmented, apply beautifully and are buildable. I love that there are warm shades but they don’t look too warm or red on the skin. There are enough neutrals to balance it all out and with 16 shades the combinations are endless!

Orgasm Lip Mask

NARS Orgasm Lip Mask

Last we have a look at the Orgasm Lip Mask. I hauled this from Sephora and like it, but don’t think it’s a must-have. It’s better than the Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask (which didn’t work for me) but you can find other balms that give you the same hydration. It’s thick but not too goopy. It does hydrate but I get better results from the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask or Summer Fridays Lip Butter.

The NARS Orgasm Lip Mask has a pale pink tint to it, but it pretty much goes on clear.

NARS Summer Unrated 2022 Review

Overall everything performed really well. The cheek duos are nice to have if you don’t own any of the colors already. I love the eyeshadow palette. The lip mask is ok for me, but didn’t wow me.

You can find the NARS Summer Unrated Collection out now. Available at NARS, Nordstrom, Sephora and all other NARS retailers.

Charlotte Tilbury

New Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Launches

April 21, 2022

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk New Launches

There are some new Pillow Talk launches from Charlotte Tilbury and I have a full haul + swatches for you! I have some hits and a couple partial misses in today’s roundup. You can find all the items out now, I hauled my picks from Charlotte Tilbury and Nordstrom.

If you’re shopping multiple items I highly recommend you check Charlotte Tilbury’s website first to see if the colors you’re looking for are still in stock. She has bundles available and most of them are customizable and have a price break.

Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter

Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter

There are two new highlighters called the Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter ($45 each). There are two variations in Romance Light and Dream Light. Both have four shades each for a glass-like glow. Each palette has a mix of finely milled shimmers and a couple sparkle shades. The sparkle is super fine so it’s not chunky on the skin. Finish is smooth even though they’re very metallic.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter

Romance Light is the lighter variation which I prefer for my skin tone. It surprised me how pretty the glow is! I don’t know that I would call it a must-have since you can get a similar effect with other highlighters on the market.

Below wearing:

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter Romance Light

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter Romance Light

Dream Light is the deeper variation. It’s a semi-miss for me, mainly because the color is a bit too deep for my skin tone as a highlighter. On my skin it pulls very copper, very warm and a bit too dramatic. It would probably work better on someone with very tan to deep skin tone. I do love it on the eyes though! I think the colors are stunning as an eyeshadow palette.

Pillow Talk Multi-Glow Beautifying All Over Glow Highlighter in Dream Light

The product describes this as an “all over glow” highlighter. I found them too glowy to be used all over the face.

Quality wise these get a solid A+ for texture, packaging, lasting power and finish.

Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow Colour of Dreams

The Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow ($40) was relaunched in this collection. I bought both the last round but never used them so I gifted them away. I decided to give Colour of Dreams a try. The color is beautiful but I’m not a fan of the packaging style and it is too dewy for my cheeks. If you’re a fan of the dewy cheek look (like the Chanel Baume Essentiel) then I think you will love this.

It’s too dewy for my cheeks, a bit too sheer for the lips for my taste. It’s not a bad product. Just not what I look for in a lip or cheek product. Colour of Dreams is a neutral rosebud shade.

Swatched next to the Pillow Talk lip lineup for reference below.

Luxury Eye Palette + Eyes to Mesmerise

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eye Palette ($53) in Pillow Talk Dreams

Charlotte Tilbury added a new Luxury Eye Palette ($53) in Pillow Talk Dreams and I’m obsessed. It has two metallic shimmers with a fine texture and two soft pigmented mattes in a light rose and plum brown. I love the colors and color payoff. I think it’s really stunning!

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eye Palette ($53) in Pillow Talk Dreams swatches

I also swatched the Eyes to Mesmerise ($34) in Pillow Talk which isn’t new, but I hadn’t swatched it yet. If you like mauves you will love this one. I think it’s a really pretty shade, but I prefer Rose Gold for the pink tones.

Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands

Last I have a quick look at the Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands ($40 each) in Pillow Talk Light/Medium and Medium/Deep. These have been restocked so if you had your eye on these they’re back! I’m reposting swatches I had from a previous review below.

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand Swatches | The Beauty Look Book

Overall the quality and color payoff of everything in her new launch is great. The colors didn’t all work out for me, but there are some solid new loves for me. If I had to pick one stand out it would be her new Pillow Talk Dreams Eyeshadow Palette. The highlighters are nice but not must-haves.

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait Review

March 30, 2022

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait

Chanel launched their new Rouge Allure L’Extrait ($55 each) which is their first refillable lipstick ($40 for the refills). I saw the collection earlier this month in Miami and hauled 6 of the 20 colors in the new launch. The Chanel team also sent a selection of colors so I had a few more bolds to share! They are available now online at Chanel.com.

A closer look in one of their beauty boutiques in the Brickell City Center below!

The Rouge Allure L’Extrait is one of the best high-pigment lipsticks I’ve tried. They are ultra creamy, smooth one swipe wonders with a comfortable hydrating feel. Formula adheres nicely to the lips (almost hugs them!) and stays put remarkably well. No bleeding, sliding, creeping!

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait review

These come in a slim black case with the pop up end. They are tiny for the price and since these are refillable the cases aren’t labeled on the bottom. If you have more than one you will have to pop open each lipstick to check the shade. The shade names are in tiny print on the gold tube casing which is hidden once you insert it into the base.

You do need the full case to use the lipstick. There is a click component in the base of the refill portion that allows you to twist it up. Without it you cannot twist up the lipstick.

There are two neutral colors, a few pinks and a wide range of reds, orange shades and bolds. For the red lipstick lover you will really love this launch because they’ve thought of every variation, brightness and undertone of red! For the neutral lip lover (like me) you will still find a couple of nice lighter options. I hope they add more neutrals!

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait review

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait swatches

Colors I have:

  • 812 Beige Brut is a perfect flawless beige
  • 814 Beige Imperieux is a medium coral peach
  • 818 Rose Independant is a pretty rose pink
  • 822 Rose Supreme is a medium cool rose
  • 824 Rose Invincible is a deeper rose pink
  • 828 Brun Orgueilleux is a plum brown
  • 832 Rouge Libre is a blue red
  • 862 Brun Affirm is a brown pink red

Below swatches on the lips below! Quick note that most reds look REALLY red on my complexion. Also wearing:

Diptyque Fragrance

Diptyque Do Son Collection for Spring 2022

March 24, 2022

Diptyque Do Son Collection Spring 2022

Diptyque just launched their limited-edition Do Son Collection featuring their Do Son scent in beautiful special turquoise packaging. The Do Son Eau de Toilette is one of my favorite scents from the line with a beautiful mix of Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Marine Accord. I own it in multiple formats like the perfume, hand cream, and hair mist!

This spring’s limited-edition collection has Do Son in multiple variations, size options and sets. The packaging is stunning in the most beautiful shade of turquoise blue!

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette and Hand Cream Set

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette and Hand Cream Set

on the nails, Chanel Le Vernis Onirique 923

The Do Son Eau de Toilette and Hand Cream come in a Boxed Set ($120) with a travel sized perfume and full size hand cream. Both are also available for purchase individually ($45 for the hand cream, $75 for the 30 ml Eau de Toilette). I love the smaller sizes which makes them perfect for travel or the purse!

Eau de Toilette

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette

The Do Son Eau de Toilette ($150) is available in the 100 ml size which has a nice lovely lightweight floral + marine accord mix. It’s not too strong on the tuberose which I actually love. To me it’s a unique floral that isn’t too flowery. Lasting power is medium on me.

Eau de Parfum

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Parfum

I tried the Do Son Eau de Parfum ($190, for 75 ml) for the first time a few weeks ago in the Diptyque store in Miami. I almost always prefer the EDT format for scents when both the EDT and EDP formulas are available. I was pleasantly surprised by the Eau de Parfum! It’s stronger on the tuberose notes. It has a mix of Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Amber Wood. It’s richer in feel with stronger floral notes. It’s hard to pick a favorite but now that I’ve tried the parfum, I think I like it more!

Tubereuse Candle

Diptyque Tubereuse Candle

Diptyque’s version of the candle is Tubereuse ($78). I love this one for a lovely fresh and green kind of floral. The turquoise glass jar is so beautiful, it brings life to my home office with the color!

Coffee Table Book

Diptyque Do Son Coffee Table Book

Diptyque has launched another book! The Do Son Coffee Table Book ($120) is a large sized book with photographs and illustrations inspired by the Do Son universe. As the ultimate Diptyque collector I bought it the minute it launched online (along with a couple other things). A week later I received a package from the Diptyque team with the full collection so now I have one for my office and one for our coffee table!

You can find the Diptyque Do Son Collection out now at Diptyque. I recommend checking their Special Offers page to find the latest gift with purchase offer they have.
