Victoria Beckham Beauty Haul

I have a Victoria Beckham Beauty haul to share today! Everything looked so beautiful in a polished yet effortless kind of way and I was really curious to see what they looked like in person. This is the first time I’ve tried anything from a Victoria Beckham Beauty line. Past launches with Estee Lauder always sold out so fast, I felt like I blinked and everything was gone. Her current collection can be found on her website Victoria Beckham Beauty and also at Violet Grey.

Lip Definer ($24 each) in 1, 2, 3 and 4
Bitten Lip Tint ($34) in Bisou
Satin Kajal Liner ($26) in Bronze and Black
Lid Luster ($36) in Mink

I ordered directly from her website and everything arrived relatively fast for standard shipping. Products came in a white drawstring bag and everything was well packed/protected. I have on item in the haul that I’m not reviewing yet which is her Cell Rejuvenating Moisturizer because I need more time to test. First impressions are positive from me but more on this later.

Lip Definer

Her Lip Definers were the products that interested me the most. I ordered Shades 01, 02, 03 and 04. They’re smooth full coverage lip pencils in shades designed to enhance the natural lip color. They’re described as waterproof and I found them very opaque and long-wearing. Colors I bought and some lip pairings I’ve tried:

01 is a pale peach (designed for fair to light lip tones)
- Pairs well with Marc Jacobs Cream and Sugar, MAC Velvet Teddy, Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose
02 is a neutral beige brown (designed for light to medium lip tones)
- Pairs well with Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria, Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit, NARS Dolce Vita and NARS Tonka
03 is a pink rose mauve (designed for light to medium lip tones)
- Coordinates with MAC Twig, MAC Mehr, Pat McGrath Omi
04 brown rose (designed for medium lip tones)
- Coordinates with Pat McGrath Blitz Trance in Flesh3, Pat McGrath Attitude, Flesh 3

When I used these pencils alone to line and fill the lips the result was too opaque, dark and rich for my skin tone. But this is the case with most lip pencils. The best way to wear these is as a lip pencil to outline and define the outer edges of the lip and pair with a lipstick or gloss. I am still experimenting with the combinations but overall I think the colors are really beautiful and easy to wear.

Bitten Lip Tint

I have mixed feelings about the Bitten Lip Tint. It has a berry tint that looks beautiful on the lips but being a stain that is semi sheer – one coat was a bit streaky. Two coats evens out better. It’s non drying and has a very slight sheen to it. Once on the lips it stains the lips purple. As it faded it left an unflattering purply brown look on my lips but it did last a very very long time. It’s a gel tint with a sponge tip applicator – however there is no room inside for any air flow in or out of the tube so when I put the sponge back into the tube to close it, the air from the inside popped the top insert out. It was easy to push back in so its not a deal breaker.

Satin Kajal Liner

The Satin Kajal Liners come in 3 colors and I tried Bronze which is more of a golden brass shimmer rather than a bronze to me and Black which is a true black. They’re ultra soft and pigmented. There’s a sponge tip on one end to smoke out the color. When applied along the top lashes it blended beautifully and it stayed put all day. However I tried it on the bottom of the eyes and it smudged on me. I think they’re nice to try but if you absolutely need something long wearing I think the Sisley Phyto Khol Eyeliners are far superior.

Lid Luster

The concept of the Lid Lusters appealed to me but only one of the colors looked like something I could see myself wearing. They’re pressed pigments with lots of sparkle and pearl and they blend beautifully! Mink is a sparkling ultra shimmery deep silver taupe with brown tones. It applied a lot cooler-toned than I anticipated but is still really lovely. I think the formula is better than Hourglass Scattered Light Eyeshadows and those are among my favorites. I do wish they had more colors to pick from. Hopefully they will expand the line. They glide on so easily and I had no fall out issues with the sparkles.

Overall thoughts are that I think she has a beautiful beauty line to start. I would have loved to see some coordinating lip sheers or lipsticks to go with the lip pencils with the initial launch. I think the Lid Luster formula is really phenomenal and I hope she expands the color range!

Holiday Glow with By Terry

Holiday season is here and it’s this time of year that I’m all about the glow. So many of you loved the glowing holiday makeup looks from past seasons so I’ve put together some new ones for more ideas and inspiration! As a lover of all things glowy I’m thrilled to partner with By Terry to give you a closer look at their new Starlight Rose CC Serum and Starlight Rose CC Powder. Both products are beautiful for that natural glow from within kind of effect.

CC Serums

For me the best way to add a natural glow is to start with a good base. I like mixing in liquid luminizers into foundation to add some radiance and color to my look. I also sometimes will use a shimmery fluid and apply all over on top of moisturizer but under foundation for a healthy glow. The key is to find something that has the perfect amount of shimmer with a lightweight feel so if you layer it with your skincare and foundation, it adds glow without being too heavy. The By Terry CC Serums are perfect because they they have a fluid lightweight texture and nice velvety dry down so it lasts all day and looks like skin but better.

Her classic Brightening CC Serum is a glowing base that comes in four color options to add radiance and color correct the skin in the most natural way possible. I’ve used these for years and although quite a splurge a bottle lasts me a very long time. This time of year I love Sunny Flash which adds warmth and glow to my skin. I either mix it in with foundation or use it as a subtle bronzer. It brightens up the skin to give it some life!

Each year she has a special limited-edition color of her CC Serum and this year’s is Starlight Rose. This is a soft rose with subtle gold shimmers infused to brighten the skin. It contains rosehip butter which helps the skin regeneration process and hydrates as well. It’s sheer when blended but is easy to build up with fingers on the cheekbones. I like using this as a primer under foundation. It’s truly stunning and if you splurge on one fluid luminizer this season, I think this is the best option.

CC Powder

To add more glow as a highlight the Starlight Rose CC Powder has three colors pressed into a beautiful mirrored compact. The colors have a soft radiant shimmer to them with what By Terry calls “soft focus micro spheres” to blur skin and smooth lines. I find it adds a really pretty highlight to the cheekbones or anywhere you want added highlights. There’s a glittery overspray to add a festive quality to it. Underneath you’ll find three finely milled pressed shimmering powders that make the skin glow.

Longwear Ombre Blackstar

To brighten or define the eyes the Ombre Blackstar has been a long-time favorite. These are among the longest lasting cream shadow sticks I’ve tried. Bronze Moon has been a staple for as long as I can remember loving makeup! It was one of my first By Terry purchases when I discovered the brand. (Also available as a mini in this Starlight Rose Best of Set which I think is super cute.) Blond Opal is the perfect highlighting color. For the lids either Misty Rock (shimmering purple) or Frozen Quartz (lighter shimmering cool rose) are gorgeous picks. I love Black Pearl for a smokey eye and the color also doubles as a liner if you use a detail brush to smoke out the lash lines. I like these for on-the-go options because they’re easy to apply and blend with fingers or intensify your look to take it from day to night.

The Les Tissages de Chanel Tweed Pink has been launched in the past a few times. I love this formula of blush for the delicate soft wash it gives the skin. This year’s is a bit deeper in pink with more pigment compared to the older ones I have although the color is very close. On my medium olive skin (I wear Chanel B40 or 50) it shows up for a soft baby pink flush. It has a beautiful sheen to it. There’s a lovely overspray but underneath is a mix of pale pink and medium rose pink infused with tiny silver bits of shimmer. On the skin it looks naturally radiant with just the perfect amount of glow.

Chanel Duo de Camelias Illuminating Powder Duo

For Black Friday Chanel has created a special new limited-edition creation called the Chanel Duo de Camelias Illuminating Powder Duo ($70 for 8.5 g/0.3 oz, made in Italy). It will be available for purchase starting Friday November 29th exclusively at Chanel.com and I’m thrilled to give you a peek at this new highlighter! It comes in a black velvet pouch like all other Chanel compacts and a small brush. It’s a stunning radiant pale almost white gold kind of shimmer that gives the skin a luminous glow.

The Duo de Camelias Illuminating Powder Duo has two iridescent shades that have a beautiful shimmer. There are tiny little sparkles that capture the light to give a reflective glow depending how it hits. One side is described as a golden beige and the other is a pearly platinum. The texture can be applied with a sheer finish or more intense highlight depending on how dense a brush you use. Color is easy to layer and blend, goes on smooth and doesn’t emphasize my pores. Lasting power was pretty good – it stayed put from morning until late afternoon without budging or fading too much.

You can apply each side individually or blend. The highlighter itself has a radiant finish and these photos and swatches can’t capture the true beauty or depth of the sparkles as much as I see in real life. As always I’ve done my best to try and show you what it looks like. It’s multi-dimensional so it will look different depending on whether it’s in natural light, sunlight, has a flash and contrast level with one’s skin tone.

Beauty Favorites Loving Right Now

I cannot believe it’s holiday season and that the year has pretty much flown by. It still seems like it should be summer to me but the holidays are here whether I’m ready or not. Today’s post features my November Favorites with another giveaway at the end!

Favorites in Fragrance

1 – Diptyque Santal Candle has been one I’ve been burning since fall. I’ve gone through a few and it’s a beautiful warm sandalwood that gives all the cozy vibes. It’s my favorite sandalwood candle out there.

2 – Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt is my year round fragrance. I think it’s wonderful for this time of year. It has a mix of ambrette seeds, sea salt and sage. I’ve been eyeing the Wood Sage and Sea Salt Set to possibly gift myself. Nordstrom also has it in a pretty teal limited-edition packaging this year in the smaller travel size.

3 – Byredo is another fragrance favorite. The travel sprays are my favorites to carry in my purse. La Selection Boisee has three of my favorites. Black Saffron is the one Andrew likes the most on me (it’s a berry kind of scent, listed notes are notes of pomelo, saffron, juniper berry, black violet, accord cuir, cristal rose, blonde woods, raspberry and vetiver). One of my favorites is Mojave Ghost (described as a woody and aromatic scent with notes of ambrette, Jamaican nesberry, violet, sandalwood, magnolia, chantilly musk, crisp amber and cedarwood). I also really love Super Cedar for a more earthy scent (has rose petals, Virginian cedarwood, silk musk and Haitian vetiver). I think all three are super unique and beautiful.

4 – Diptyque Baies is my favorite scent from the Diptyque line. I’ve bought it in all forms and all candle sizes. The room spray is lovely if you live or work in a setting where you can’t burn candles.

Skincare Favorites and Highlights

5 – The Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Essence Mist* is a new to me face mist. It was part of the 5 Step Normal Skincare Set I tried from Soko Glam and it’s very calming and hydrating. I highly recommend giving it a try.

6 – Sol de Janeiro just launched an unscented Brazilian Nude Cream which I ordered on launch day. I’m a huge fan of the Bum Bum Cream and Shower Cream-Gel which I usually order from Sephora but sometimes it’s nice to have a fragrance-free option. The Brazilian Nude Cream is currently exclusive to Sol de Janeiro’s website and they’ve started Cyber Monday early! Save 25% off orders $75 or more now through 12/2. I really love it and Andrew has been using it too. It’s thick (in a good way), hydrating, absorbs nicely and has a velvety dry down. To me it’s very similar to Kate Somerville’s Dry Skin Saver which I used to use but have not restocked in a while.

7 – Tatcha The Silk Peony Eye Cream* has been wonderful this in this dry weather for me. It’s hydrating and fills in fine lines under the eye that have been creeping up on me. It melts into the skin wonderfully and I highly recommend giving it a try if you want some extra moisture.

8 – Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist has been a favorite that’s made my “best of” list many times. It’s the one I travel the most frequently with for it’s super fine spritzer and a refreshing hydrating feel. It’s available in multiple size options, also in this 3-Piece Travel Set with special edition packaging if you want to be extra fancy.

Kosas Wet Lip Oils

9 – Kosas Wet Lip Oils* launched earlier in the month with five color options. They’re beautifully hydrating and have serious pigment for a lip treatment! I think all the colors are perfect. I’m partial to Dip and Malibu but every one is really phenomenal. They are hydrating but don’t feel like they’ll slide off. They’re also starting Black Friday early (full Black Friday roundup coming your way on the blog soon), save 20% on orders of $50+, 25% on orders of $75+, and 30% on orders over $100 (excludes gift cards).

Chanel Skincare and Bodycare

10 – Chanel Les Exclusifs line is so amazing. Their Fresh Body Cream has been a long time favorite I splurge on repeatedly. They just launched the Gentle Oil Hair and Body* and it is SO amazing. It comes in a large glass open top pour out bottle and has a very lightweight scent of citrus and white musk and jasmine just like the body cream version. I’ve been using it on the body and it’s the best body oil I’ve tried. I want to find a little dropper to use with it though. My skin has never been so soft!

11 and 12 and 13- The Sublimage line is among the best I’ve tried in skincare. I love the Sublimage La Brume Face Mist (it comes with refills). They’ve added more to their Sublimage line including Les Grains de Vanille Purifying and Radiance Revealing Face Scrub* (super hydrating) and L’Huile en Gel de Demaquillage* which is a gel to oil makeup remover cleanser. I’ll have a more detailed review soon but the oil cleanser leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth and I LOVE it.

14 – La Creme Main Le Lift has been in rotation this season. I love how it smoothes the hands and hydrates in a beautiful way. I like all the hand creams they’ve launched but this one is my favorite.

Base Favorites

15 – Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Illuminating* in Warm Radiance has been a lovely base to add a sheer glow and hint of radiance on dull skin days. Detailed review + swatches here.

16 – Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer in 220* was sent for me to try along with a box of other goodies! I had previously been using 235 for spot concealing but it didn’t do much for brightening or under the eye. Using a lighter and warmer color in 220 has made a WORLD of difference for brightening under the eye. It’s creamy, opaque and blends easily. It doesn’t budge or cake on my skin either. Fenty for the win!

17 – Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder Glow* in Translucent and Medium Deep have been lovely for adding a bit of glow. I don’t use them as setting powders as the name suggests – it’s too glowy for all over, but I use them as a bronzer or highlighter and skin looks candlelit in the best way possible.

Storage Solutions

18 – I’ve been promising a beauty storage post for you and I still have one coming! I have accumulated several different acrylic storage units and my favorite one to date is the Original Beauty Box. I just bought the smaller Original Beauty Box size (shown in this post) which measures 10 deep x 7 wide by 9.5 inches tall. It fits on my Ikea Billy Bookcase shelves and also works for the top of my bathroom counter. I have 3 of the larger Deluxe Beauty Boxes which store more (and also fit taller compacts) which I also like and still use, but having the smaller one is easier to fit on my desk, on a shelf or on the bathroom counter. You can see more photos of the larger ones in my old loft tour post here.

I plan on doing an updated storage post and will do my best to do it before end of year with comparisons, side by sides, pros and cons of everything I use.

Bite Beauty

19 – I bought the Bite Creamy Color 4-Piece Mini Amuse Bouche Supercharged Lipstick Set from Sephora last month and it’s so cute! It has four new colors and when I put it on stories several readers asked me if it was the original or new formula. I had no idea there was a “new” formula but readers pointed out that the entire Amuse Bouche Lipstick line had been discounted online at Sephora, shades have been pulled as they sell out and that it was rumored that this was a preview of a new formula. I don’t have any news or info but it appears that many of you are beauty super sleuths! I just checked the Bite Beauty section at Sephora and so many things have been marked down including the Agave Lip Mask, Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick, etc. I wonder if it’s because items are going to be reformulated or repackaged or both.

The colors in the 4 piece set seem creamier and with a more glossy finish compared to the original Amuse Bouche, but the texture does feel very similar. I can’t tell for sure if it’s different. I feel like they’re a little bit softer but am not sure if it’s because of the mini size bullets. They’re creamy, opaque, long wearing and rich.
