A few things I’m loving this weekend:

Mini lipsticks are in right now. Charlotte Tilbury has the cutest Lipstick Charm Trio with Bitch Perfect, Penelope Pink and So Marilyn. They are super tiny at 1 g each, but each lipstick comes with a purple ribbon attached. I bought this trio as a gift but now I want one for myself. (Available at Bergdorf Goodman, on backorder at Nordstrom).

Tom Ford Lips & Boys launched Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. They will be making a re-appearance at the end of the month at select Tom Ford Boutiques and Counters. I made several different orders since no one website had all the colors I wanted. My items are still trickling in. I’ll try to post swatches and reviews as soon as I can. In the meantime, I recommend the Tom Ford Beauty Thread at Specktra.net for reference and swatches.

Gold lipglosses are still an obsession for me. My favorite right now is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Ibiza Nights has been a go-to for me. It’s the prettiest sparkling gold. Swatches and color focus series here.

If you missed out on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals for Truffle, the good news is they are having a promotion of 20% off orders $100 or more with code HOLIDAY20. I ordered three from the last promotion (two as gifts, one for me) and the new Nude Privacy Clutch is to die for gorgeous. I think it’s the best one they’ve released to date. Color comparisons below for reference on the pale colors. More inspiration on how I’ve used these clever pouches here, here, and here.

Dior Lili Nail Polish is still my perfect nude for right now. Full review + swatches here, but I can’t get enough of this color.

November is flying by faster than I expected it to. The holiday season is just starting and I’m not prepared at all. This weekend I’ll try to start making to-do and shopping lists to try and get an early start. I think most of my holiday shopping will be done online this year to avoid crowds and lines. Our new place is slowly coming together as we get all of our furniture delivered piece by piece. Our coffee table and some bookshelves finally arrived and I’m excited to start decorating and adding personal touches.

Right now, I’m loving a mix of new and old beauty items.

I’m all about flat zip pouches, I’ve been loving this Black Croc-Print Small Clutch (1) by Whistles, (similar here, white here) which is the perfect size for a makeup bag or a clutch. This newly released all-black Privacy Clutch by Truffle is also calling my name.

For cheeks, I’ve been using soft bronzers non-stop. The Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder (2) has been raved about for quite some time. Several of my blogger friends told me to get it. I listened, bought it, and I love it. I’ve been using Bronze 02.

Pinks have been my go-to lately for lipgloss. I’ve been loving the Dior Pink Excess (3) for holiday and Laura Mercier Pink Pop Lip Glacé (also in this mini 5 piece set) (4).

On the eyes, I’ve been using the Laura Mercier Mini Caviar Set (5) almost daily. Amethyst is a really pretty soft purple mauve that goes with virtually every lip/cheek look I’ve tried. If you gift yourself one beauty item this season, I would highly recommend this set (unless you already own all the colors).

Charlotte Tilbury’s Powder and Sculpt Brush (6) is a tool I keep reaching for. It’s perfectly shaped for contouring and highlighting. The bristles pick up just the right amount of product. (Review here.)

NARS Audacious Lipsticks (7) are still a huge hit with me (swatches of my picks here). Every color I’ve tried is amazing. I’ve been loving Anita a neutral pink.

Lumira released a new collection called Paradisium. The Eau de Parfum (8) is to die for. It has Bergamot, Grapefruit and Lemon, Fig Nectar and Guava, Vetiver, Sea Moss and Cedarwood. It’s the most unique scent I’ve smelled. It’s refreshing and uplifting and soothing. The closest thing I can think of is Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt which I liked but wore during super humid weather where it turned on my skin (in a bad way) and did not work well with my body chemistry. It was too earthy and after having it turn once, I can’t wear it anymore (thank goodness I got a sample to test before splurging). The Lumira Paradisium is a better alternative, it has enough sweetness in it to keep it from turning on the skin. the lasting power is phenomenal. A dedicated post on the line to come soon.

My Tatcha love continues. I’ve been loving the Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm (9) and Indigo Hand Cream Mini (10). Be sure to check out the holiday sets, these two products are included in a number of beautiful gift options this year.

Burberry’s Effortless Liquid Liner (11) is a beautiful classic liner. I’ve been experimenting more with this liquid liner and although it still takes me some time to get a good even line, practice is improving my liner skills.

I know it’s fall/winter season now where darker scents are in season, but I’m still loving the florals like Diptyque Geranium Odorata (12). It’s a brightening scent that I find refreshing. (Original review here.)
I hope your week is going well so far! What have you been loving this week?
The Lumira EDP, Diptyque Geranium Odorata and Burberry Liner were provided for review consideration. Rest purchased by me.

Loving Right Now (plus Tom Ford Giveaway Winner Announced)

November 1, 2014

On my desktop right now I have the Fall/Winter special edition of Lucky, Garance Doré + Rifle Paper notepad, Christian Louboutin
book, Diptyque mini photophore with Freesia and the new Diptyque Spice candle for holiday (review soon). Even though Chanel released several almost-identical looking reds, I’m currently obsessed with Chanel Expression which has a slight pink base making it a softer red. For lips, I’ve been loving the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks, in particular Stoned Rose and B*tch Perfect.

This weekend I’m loving these links:
Many thanks to everyone who entered my Tom Ford Nude Dip Giveaway. I am completely floored at how many entries I received. I really enjoyed learning about everyone’s favorite neutral eyeshadow palette picks – I received over 300 comments and it appears that the most popular pick is hands down anything from the Urban Decay Naked series. The winner selected via the Rafflecopter widget is Madison T, congrats!! (E-mail madisonti***[email protected], check your inbox!)

Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Thursday Link Love

October 23, 2014

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you have been having a great week. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of October, time is literally flying in front of my eyes. Thank you everyone for your kind words and sending sweet notes via e-mail and comments over the past few weeks. My husband and I recently moved and the whole process is kicking me in the ***. We are starting from scratch for most of our furniture with the new place and we had no idea everything would take so long to make and ship – even items that don’t seem like they are custom pieces of furniture. Luckily we found some pieces that work for now and are slowly getting everything put together. In a way, it’s a bit like a blank canvas which makes it fun.

A few links I’m loving this week:

  • Brunch and Art from Egg Canvas is perfection (and her photos are amazing too)
  • Loving Lipstick With Some Sunshine’s Autumn Makeup Bag picks
  • This Bite Beauty Best Bite Remix set on Temptalia is adorable
  • Lucky girl Beauty Professor met Lipstick Queen founder Poppy King (check out her interview)
  • The Non-Blonde’s secret beauty weapon is Vincent Longo Flamenco (and I need it)
  • Amelia Liana shares her special event contouring and highlighting tips
  • Emoji talk on Garance Doré (happy I’m not the only one who likes to talk in emoji)
  • Tatcha has launched their Personal Skincare Consultation online that provides personalized recommendations if you’re not sure where to start
  • Many thanks to Elle Quebec for featuring me in their October Issue! I’m beyond thrilled 🙂
 Have a great Thursday!

Loving Right Now + Weekend Reads

September 20, 2014

I hope everyone had a great week. I spent the last couple days in Los Angeles to visit with family, preview the new Hourglass store in Venice Beach and meet up with Edward Bess at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. I’m a bit behind on reviews but am working all weekend editing and photographing for posts to be published this week. Right now I’m in love with (left to right):

  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is one of my holy grail powder highlighter palettes with three shades of their Ambient Lighting Powders in Dim Light, Incandescent Light (exclusive to palette) and Radiant Light, it is something I find perfect for travel and it works for both eyes and cheeks
  • Charlotte Tilbury Blondie Lip Lustre is the perfect soft pale pink that doesn’t wash out the complexion, lasts for hours and is also lovely as a layering color
  • NARS Anita Audacious Lipstick has been in frequent rotation as a good neutral rose pink
  • NARS Himalia and Subra Dual Intensity Eyeshadows are my go-to shades when I want something easy to wear that goes with just about any color of lip/cheek or clothing (if you just get one, Himalia is a must-check-out)
  • Tatcha Travel-Sized Beauty is my latest obsession, their minis of Beauty Oil and Classic Rice Enzyme Powder Cleansers are what I bring with me on weekend getaways (the packaging of the travel sizes are just as good in design and quality as the full size, huge plus for me)
  • Guerlain Waterproof Mascara has been a must-have all summer for volumizing and holding the curl, I just bought my second tube of it
  • Kat Von D Ink Liner is my everything for liquid liners right now
  • L’Artisan Mure et Musc is my favorite scent of the moment, I just purchased my second bottle after my last one accidentally broke (I knocked it off my desk and it shattered)
  • Edward Bess All Over Seduction is my holy grail cream highlighter, some asked me for a recommendation on a liquid/cream version that doesn’t interfere with foundation if you put it on top, this one is THE one to try (Sunlight shown above, but I also adore Afterglow the darker peachy bronze version)
  • Formula X Remarkable Translucent Nail Polish is the perfect pale sheer (swatches soon)

Some weekend reads and videos I think are worth a look:

What are you loving this weekend? P.S. I’m behind on responding to comments and e-mails, I’ll be responding as soon!

I hope everyone has been having a nice weekend. We’re experiencing a heat wave in Southern California so I’m trying to stay indoors to keep cool. This upcoming week I’ll have some posts on a few foundations I’ve been testing along with some skincare loves. (After several weeks of another skin flare up episode, my skin has finally started to clear up again and return back to its normal state.) I spent Saturday morning with Beauty Professor at the Neiman Marcus Project Beauty event and will be sharing what I purchased at the event soon. I’m also still working my way through my Charlotte Tilbury reviews so stay tuned. I wasn’t happy with my initial photographs on the eyes/cheeks so I’ve had to reshoot the product photos which is why it’s been taking forever to publish.

I wanted to share a new addition to our home (non-beauty related). I just received my first Gray Malin print which I ordered from the Labor Day sale event (they had free shipping and free framing). I picked one of his Prada Marfa prints and couldn’t be happier. I have so many of his prints on my wish list. (You can also find some of his work on sale at One King’s Lane.) Be sure to visit his Lifestyle Blog for inspiration.

Some weekend reads and videos I’m loving right now:

  • I’m living vicariously through others to see what on backstage during NYFW, I’m dying over this neutral NARS palette featured on the @narsissist instagram
  • @marcbeauty posted this sneak peek of a nail polished used on the models at their SS15 show, I’m wish I knew what the color was called, anyone have any ideas?
  • Garance Doré x NARS has a really cute video on the new Audacious Lipsticks
  • Love this video on The Man Repeller with Jenna Lyons (NARS also included)
  • Paris on Four Months has some exquisite work she has done for Dior (love love love!!)
  • Temptalia gives us a first look at YSL’s new Blush Volupte in Singuliere
  • Front Row Beauty has swatches of Chanel’s VFNO Sweet Star Le Vernis (I’m hoping this color of nail polish will eventually make its way to the US)
  • Messy Wands has some helpful skincare tips on how to deal with a sunburn
  • The Non-Blonde shares her top perfume picks for fall (I’ve made notes)
