I hope everyone had a great week. I spent the last couple days in Los Angeles to visit with family, preview the new Hourglass store in Venice Beach and meet up with Edward Bess at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. I’m a bit behind on reviews but am working all weekend editing and photographing for posts to be published this week. Right now I’m in love with (left to right):
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is one of my holy grail powder highlighter palettes with three shades of their Ambient Lighting Powders in Dim Light, Incandescent Light (exclusive to palette) and Radiant Light, it is something I find perfect for travel and it works for both eyes and cheeks
- Charlotte Tilbury Blondie Lip Lustre is the perfect soft pale pink that doesn’t wash out the complexion, lasts for hours and is also lovely as a layering color
- NARS Anita Audacious Lipstick has been in frequent rotation as a good neutral rose pink
- NARS Himalia and Subra Dual Intensity Eyeshadows are my go-to shades when I want something easy to wear that goes with just about any color of lip/cheek or clothing (if you just get one, Himalia is a must-check-out)
- Tatcha Travel-Sized Beauty is my latest obsession, their minis of Beauty Oil and Classic Rice Enzyme Powder Cleansers are what I bring with me on weekend getaways (the packaging of the travel sizes are just as good in design and quality as the full size, huge plus for me)
- Guerlain Waterproof Mascara has been a must-have all summer for volumizing and holding the curl, I just bought my second tube of it
- Kat Von D Ink Liner is my everything for liquid liners right now
- L’Artisan Mure et Musc is my favorite scent of the moment, I just purchased my second bottle after my last one accidentally broke (I knocked it off my desk and it shattered)
- Edward Bess All Over Seduction is my holy grail cream highlighter, some asked me for a recommendation on a liquid/cream version that doesn’t interfere with foundation if you put it on top, this one is THE one to try (Sunlight shown above, but I also adore Afterglow the darker peachy bronze version)
- Formula X Remarkable Translucent Nail Polish is the perfect pale sheer (swatches soon)
Some weekend reads and videos I think are worth a look:
- Three of my favs RaeViewer, Essie Button and Vivianna Does Makeup take us behind the scenes at Burberry’s S/S 2015 show (plus tutorials on the Burberry Beauty looks)
- Temptalia has some dupes of Tom Ford’s Negligee lipstick
- A look at beauty organization with Muji acrylic drawers on Lipstick With Some Sunshine
- Love this casual effortless but so-well-put-together look at 9to5 Chic
- Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog has the 411 on Hourglass’s new Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
- British Beauty Blogger gives us a tease/sneak peek at Charlotte Tilbury Holiday items
What are you loving this weekend? P.S. I’m behind on responding to comments and e-mails, I’ll be responding as soon!

The ambient lightening palette and CT lipstick – straight onto the wishlist. Beauty blogs are bad for my bank balance!

How do you apply the EB highlighter? It looks beautiful!
With the fingers or with a cream product brush (I like Chanel's, my face brush essentials here http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2014/04/the-beauty-look-book-essentials-face.html
I am loving my new Dior lip baumes. I bought Escapade, a rose and Milly, a nude pink and she gave me the cutest sample packet with a magenetic closure that had 4 of the baumes I did not purchase. I fell in love with Spring, a light coral and Lili, a rose-pink and went back and bought them – and she gave me another one of the sample envelopes! I gifted it to my niece. The formula on these baumes is amazing. It is very hydrating and moisturizing. I was surprised that they have so much pigment to them and pleasantly surprised that they wear much like a stain, the color stays on your lips for a long time and lasts through drinking and eating. I love these and think they are the best lip product of 2014. I am usually meh about Dior's lipsticks but these are amazing. I like them even more than the By Terry tinted balms I've been loving. I got mine at Saks which has them exclusively for now and they have them online but I think other stores will be receiving them in October.
Hi Jo! You picked some great colors! I stopped by Saks a few days ago but they didn't give any samples with my purchase. I picked up Escapade as well along with a light peach. I wanted to give Milly a try but the artist said it would be too pale on my lips. Lili and Spring are also on my list. I might just order from Dior.com for the additional shades 🙂
Nudes don't usually do much for me but Milly is quite flattering on me. You should at least try it on. If you order from Saks the sample packet contains Spring, Lili, Diorette and Rouge Dior so that could be a way to help you decide on other colors. I think you would love both Spring and Lili. If you go back to Saks you could ask if she has any of the sample packets – since they are offering it online with any Dior purchase they no doubt have them available in store. Their beauty event is coming up soon and this time you have to purchase a bit more, $250, than their usual requirement which I think was more in line with Neiman's $125.
I have fallen in love with Tatcha products but I haven't tested out their beauty oil yet.
All this looks amazing! Dying to try it all! <3

I've been hearing so many good things about Hourglass palette, I have to try it!
Why do you waste this much money on makeup? I've seen you in person and it honestly doesn't do much for you either way.
To counter the drying heat we've been experiencing in So Cal, I've been enjoying Tatcha's hydrating beauty mask on a weekly basis. It's made a huge difference in the overall condition of my skin. After removing the mask, I seal in the goodness with some of Tatcha's Camellia Beauty Oil or Rodin's Olio Lusso depending on what my skin seems to need at the time.
Makeup wise, I've been keeping it light with Guerlain's Terracotta Joli Teint foundation and Clé de Peau's highlighter in Sand Beige brushed across my cheek bones. For eyes and lips I do whatever strikes my fancy, but I've been favoring light, transparent shades.
Love your favorites 🙂 I had been neglecting my skin with this heat and humidity which ended up drying out my skin. I need to break out one of the beauty masks soon!
Just popping back in to say that I was looking over some old emails and found one from Saks about the Dior Rouge Baumes. It says that you can get the Rouge Baume sample pack I talked about earlier with any Dior purchase online at Saks by using the code DIOR38.
Thank you Jo!!
Sabrina, I just read Anonymous @ 9:21's comment and she is a coward. If that is what she thinks she should keep it to herself and not read your blog. It was so rude. You are a lovely person and appreciate makeup and present us with the most beautiful makeup blog out there please do not even think twice about her rude remarks.
I agree with Jo. This is a beauty blog, not an ugly blog and you don't want the trolls taking up residence here. I wouldn't hesitate a single moment to delete Anon's comment. After all, she's not contributing to the conversation; rather she's trying to incite anger in order to get a attention and stroke her own ego. Some people only feel good about themselves when insulting others. Pathetic.
Thank you Jo and Eileen, you both are so sweet to me, I'm just going to shake it off.
I have to agree with everyone's thoughts and believe anonymous is really a jealous person.
I'm sure you could spot her in a room; green with envy.
Hey anonymous, how about using your real name, first and last when doling out the hate. Or better yet, since you obviously see Sabrina, tell her in person. Coward is right.
Ignore this Sabrina, you are doing such an amazing job for all of us beauty lovers and give us a place to both share & admire everyday. Much appreciation goes out to you.♥♥♥
Thank you Michelle, xoxo!
Okay, I know this is WAY off topic, but how the heck do you get your sidebar titles like that with the line break? I've been trying to figure it out for ages! xx
Amazing post as always Sabrina. Thanks for all the hard work u put in your blogs 🙂
Just a quick question, which brush do you recommend for the ambient lightening palette other than the brush Hourglass recommends? Thanks 🙂
Hi Tahira, I've been interested in the Hourglass brush but never got around to trying it. For my highlighters I have been using one of the MAC or Chanel blush brushes which seem to work just fine. My favorites here:

That shade of lipstick from NARS is gorgeous! I imagine it's one of those lipsticks that are flattering on almost everyone! Swatch please! Would love to hear your thoughts on it! 🙂

Love your blog! I bought the guerlain mascara and had such high hopes! It was amazing the first few goes, but got really clumpy within the first couple of weeks and smudged sooo bad :(. Also loved NARS Volumizing- but had the same issue with smudging 🙁 Tied armani eyes to kill wp and it doesn't deliver the wow lash factor I'm looking for. My mascara search continues…
