Holiday Gifting with the Molton Brown Muddled Plum Collection

December 11, 2018

Molton Brown Muddled Plum Holiday Collection

Every year around the holiday season, I always gift Molton Brown. For me it’s a no brainer because there is always something for everyone – even those that are hard to shop for!

I’m the biggest fan of their Bath & Shower Gels which have the most refreshing scents. Each year Molton Brown launches a limited-edition scent for the holiday season. This year they introduced the new Muddled Plum Collection which is perfect for those who want something different from the traditional spice or pine scent. I’m thrilled to partner with the brand to give you a peek!

Molton Brown Muddled Plum Holiday Collection Review

Muddled Plum is a warm and cozy scent with a fruity feel that mixes rum, saffron and plum into one delicious fragrance. They describe it as “a celebratory aroma featuring rich notes of oak-aged rum, saffron and plum” which couldn’t be more perfect because I love anything with sandalwood during this time of year.

Top notes: orange, saffron and elemi.
Heart notes: plum, davana and oak-aged rum.
Base notes: sandalwood, benzoin and musk.

The Muddled Plum Collection is composed of 6 different products, all great for gifting. Everything is beautifully packaged that looks like a gift in itself. The collection includes Body Lotion ($44 for 10 fl oz) and Bath & Shower Gel ($35 for 10 fl oz). I prefer to use the shower gel as my bubble bath after a long day as it lathers nicely, has a strong scent and leaves my skin feeling soft. The Body Lotion is perfect to apply after a long bath and leaves your skin feeling deeply hydrated.

A perfect stocking stuffer is the Festive Body Wash Bauble ($15 each). This item is shaped like an ornament so you can also hang it from your tree!

The collection also includes an Eau de Toilette ($65 for 1.7 fl oz) which has really good lasting power on the skin. This one makes for a nice warm fall scent with the mix of sweet and a little bit of spice.

Molton Brown Muddled Plum Perfume

My ultimate fave product from the collection has to be the Scented Glitter ($45) which I’ve never seen before! This is such a cute idea – you can sprinkle it on your tree, gifts, your dinner table or letters you send. It’s purple and silver to match the festive plum color theme.

Lastly, from the collection we have the Single Wick Candle ($50). It burns beautifully and fills the entire room within minutes. It has a soft mellow burn so it’s not overpowering.

There are so many gift options for the holidays at multiple price points! The new Muddled Plum Collection is a great option if you’re shopping for the person who already has everything as there’s a good chance they haven’t tried it yet! I typically buy their Hand Creams or one of their Holiday Crackers to give away, but this year they also have an amazing Opulent Infusions Advent Calendar as well!

You can find the Molton Brown Holiday gift sets and Muddled Plum Collection at MoltonBrown.com. The collection is limited-edition for the season and can also be purchased with gorgeous gift box options.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set + My Top 10 Chanel Favorites

November 28, 2018

Chanel Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set Review | The Beauty Look Book

Chanel launched three Le Voyage Travel Skincare Sets on Cyber Monday and they’re still available for a limited time. For the first time I can remember Chanel has launched miniatures in skincare sets! Most of the time they are full sizes for makeup, fragrance and skincare in the US. I do think there are more options available internationally but in the US we don’t always have access to all the launches. I have a look at the Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set which retails for $120. Online they also have a Le Lift Le Voyage for $185 and a Sublimage Le Voyage for $425. In addition since so many have asked I’ve included my Top 10 Chanel favorites at the end.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set Review | The Beauty Look Book

The Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set has two miniatures from the Hydra Beauty Skincare line and their classic eye makeup remover. Do note with the Hydra Beauty line everything has scent in it – something you might want to try before you buy in case you’re sensitive. I haven’t had any irritation issues using this line. Everything is available individually in full size form but the set has miniatures:

  • Hydra Beauty Micro Serum (15 ml/0.5 fl oz) is one of the prettiest lightweight serums I’ve tried, I used this years ago (when I still lived in San Diego), it has product encapsulated in micro droplets and are released upon application. It’s lighweight but helps your moisturizer to absorb better.
  • Hydra Beauty Creme (20 g/0.7 oz) comes in a super cute black mini compact. It has a seal inside to protect the product and prevent it from drying out and also has a mini spatula. This is so cute and has genius packaging. I’m keeping this and going to refill it when the creme is used up. I have not tried the cream before but did test it over the past week. It’s smooth and has a very lightweight feel.
  • Gentle Biphase Eye Makeup Remover (30 ml/1 fl oz) is too cute for words. This has been one of my favorite eye makeup removers, it doesn’t work the best on waterproof formulas, but for regular ones it is a staple.

Top 10 Chanel Beauty Favorites via The Beauty Look Book

My top 10 has changed over the years. So many of my tried and true staples were reformulated. I also found that my skin developed sensitivity to many of their foundations which have a higher alcohol content in some formulas. There are still a few that I can use without issue. My top 10 Chanel favorites. Press samples have a * but many of the items I purchased myself. You can find these at a wide range of retailers, I buy my items either from Chanel.com (because it always comes beautifully boxed and they sometimes have exclusives or early launches) and Nordstrom (because they have the best customer service in store and online):

  1. Les Eaux de Chanel in Biarritz * I love anything citrus and this is a beautiful mix of mandarin and lily, it’s more of a spring summer scent, but in Florida it’s warm almost the entire year so it’s perfect for me anytime, it’s also available in a Body Lotion and Shower Gel version which I have not yet tried
  2. Powder Blush in Foschia Rosa is the prettiest semi bright warm pink blush, review and on the face here
  3. Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Multi-Colour Powder in Medium * is my favorite semi bronzer semi highlighter in one, review here
  4. Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base is the best cream bronzer for me, I’ve gone through a few tubs of these
  5. La Creme Main hand cream, review of the 3 options here
  6. Le Vernis in Organdi * is the best everyday neutral pink, review here
  7. Rouge Coco Gloss in 172 Tendresse  is the best pink for me, swatches here
  8. Rouge Coco Gloss in 722 Noce Moscata is the prettiest semi-shimmery neutral caramel, swatches here
  9. Hydra Beauty Mist is one of my favorite face mists, it’s super expensive but I really love it
  10. Le Volume Mascara Waterproof is a classic for me

One last look at the travel set:

Chanel Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set Review | The Beauty Look Book

I hope you found this roundup helpful! The sets are really cute and nice for travel. You can find the Hydra Beauty Le Voyage Set for a limited time at Chanel.com. My top 10 picks also available at Chanel and Nordstrom along with many other beauty retailers.

Le Voyage Set provided for review. Additional press samples featured have a * next to them.

I’ve split my recommendations into two posts. The first one today focuses on skincare, hair care and body favorites. So many readers have asked for more hair and skin recommendations over makeup, but that roundup is coming soon! For my makeup gurus I’m working on getting swatches of new NARS, a concealer roundup, Pat McGrath launches, Marc Jacobs Holiday and some Louboutin items up for you ASAP!

As a beauty blogger I put a lot of products to the extensive test, both purchased items and press samples. Skin care is always tricky for me because of the time it takes to see results along with the expectations I have with what “visible results” are. Other things such as seasonal changes, diet, aging, stress, hormones, that time of the month etc. all play a big factor as well. When it comes to testing skin care I recommend trying minis if you’re unsure. Sets are always great to try things first if you’re unsure about recommendations, reviews or ingredients. The one thing I appreciate most about the Sephora site is that they have more ingredients listed for product compared to any other retailer I shop at.

Sephora Skincare Favorites Fresh Mask Set, Ouai Body Scalp Scrub, Jo Malone Wood Sage Sea Salt

Skincare Face Cleansers

I love having testing different cleansers! Out of all the skincare categories I think I like cleansers and masks the most. My favorites:

Exfoliation

I feel like exfoliation is key to having clear skin, but face scrubs are so personal. What one’s skin can tolerate truly depends on what other items are being used in a routine. If you’re using acids, peels, Vitamin C or retinols on a regular basis your skin sensitivity will be increased significantly and therefore you might not be able to use certain products. For me I keep acids and peels to a minimum (although I do want to try more). I don’t use Vitamin C on a regular basis.

  • Fresh Sugar Face Polish is my favorite because it’s hydrating and also melts/dissolves into my face.
  • Kate Somerville Exfolikate is a classic with lactic acid and fruit enzymes to exfoliate the skin, it will tingle, so if you have ultra sensitive skin try the Gentle Version instead.
  • Jack Black Face Buff is Andrew’s favorite. He’s tried all of mine and several other men’s brands but says this is hands down the best and insists it’s better than any of mine.
  • Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powders aren’t really exfoliator scrubs, but I use them as a cleanser/exfoliator. If you have ultra sensitive skin I think these are great alternatives to face scrubs.

Skincare Moisturizers & Oils

  • Eve Lom White Brightening Cream is one of the most gentle face moisturizers I’ve tried with ingredients to combat dullness and pigment issues. I haven’t noticed that my sun spots have faded but it does brighten subtly, lift and tone. It calms the skin and makes it smooth. This is my fourth jar!
  • Kate Somerville Exfolikate Glow Moisturizer is an interesting concept because it has exfoliating ingredients, but doesn’t make you peel like the name implies. It has both glycolic and lactic acids that help with uneven skin texture. It hydrates nicely and adds the perfect amount of moisture.
  • La Mer Moisturizing Soft Lotion and Moisturizing Matte Lotion are Andrew’s favorites. He liked the Soft Lotion when we were in San Diego and for the cooler months here in Florida. For most of the hot seasons he prefers the Matte Version for a lightweight finish.
  • Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream is one of two Drunk Elephant products I’ve tried and like. It’s suitable for any skin type and I like that it feels nice on the skin – it has the perfect texture and amount of moisture.
  • Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Infusion de Rose Oil * is something I used up years ago and just started using again. It’s a lovely fluid rose oil that is ultra hydrating and soothing.
  • Eve Lom Radiance Oil is another one I just started using at night. I had finished my Kiehl’s and L’Occitane favorites and decided to try a few new ones. This one is really hydrating and lasts through the night. I think it’s going to be perfect for winter months ahead as we’re going into the dry season.

Skincare Extras: Masks, Mists, Treatments

  • Fresh Mask For Miles Set * has four of my favorite Fresh items, Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask, Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask, Sugar Face Polish and Rose Face Mask. I think this one makes the perfect gift for anyone, especially the hard to shop for!
  • Fresh Rose Floral Toner is one I actually use more as a face mist, it’s alcohol-free and is a nice soothing face mist. I like to apply this before workouts.
  • Glamglow Supermud is my holy grail clarifying mask, it sucks out impurities, excess oil, unclogs pores.
  • Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial is a favorite of mine and Andrew’s. We’re going to stock up on this one during the event. It’s a great resurfacing product that really does work over several uses and leaves skin feeling super soft.
  • Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist * is my holy grail face mist!
  • Kate Somerville RetAsphere Micro Peel is one of the most gentle night peels that I’ve used that is effective, I also used to use her RetAsphere 2-in-1 Retinol Night Cream which is one of the few retinol products my skin could tolerate.

Body Products

  • Ouai Scalp and Body Scrub is scented in their rose scent. I haven’t used it on the hair, it was just so amazing as a body scrub I kept using it like that until it was all gone. I felt like couldn’t live without it so I bought another jar before the sale started.
  • REN Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Salt Scrub is supposed to be an anti-fatigue body scrub. I bought this as I had really sore muscles after starting to lift weights. This made for a nice soak and hydrated the skin without leaving a greasy film.
  • Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen with SPF 50 is my holy grail of body sunscreens. It’s easy to reapply, isn’t greasy, doesn’t smell like sunscreen and it’s transparent (no white cast). We’ve also found it effective in intense Florida sunshine.
  • Kopari Coconut Deodorant * is my go-to deodorant right now, it’s natural, lightweight, applies smoothly and keeps odor away (also available as a mini in this Beauty Besties Set).
  • Kopari Coconut Melt is the best overnight body treatment I use for extra dry skin.
  • Jo Malone Colognes are something I never see go on sale, so the event is a great time to save. My two favorites are Wood Sage and Sea Salt and Basil and Neroli. The layering combinations are endless and fun to play around with.

Hair Care Favorites

Everything about my hair care routine is going to change now that I just got highlights. So many of you have given me amazing color-safe shampoo recommendations. Since they recommend not washing your hair for 72 hours after the process I’ve been ok without any options, but I’m going to check them out this weekend. In the meantime items I swear by:

  • Aquis Lisse Luxe Long Hair Towel is something I discovered this year and really love it! I suddenly found it kept disappearing on me. Andrew did not know it was a hair towel, found it in the clean laundry pile, liked the texture and absorbent quality so much he decided to steal it and use it for during and post-work out sweat. I’ve since ordered a few more in the regular length and Waffle Texture to try and keep one as my own.
  • Aquis Prime Starter Kit * this is something I just started testing, it’s a four piece set with products and a turban to prevent hair breakage. I’ll have a more detailed review soon, but think it’s excellent.
  • Moroccanoil Treatment * is a classic multi-tasker, I use it pre-heat and as a finishing product. I also love the way it smells! Been purchasing this for years but one shown was gifted.
  • IGK Dry Shampoos are among my favorite. They had a limited-edition trio of minis online and I bought a few as I like the smaller size to carry in my totes. Jet Lag is my favorite for my hair, but all three are amazing. No white residue on any of the formulas.
  • Ouai Hair Oil another favorite for the hair, it’s a nice lightweight oil. Scent is floral and strong and might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love how it performs.

Lip Treatments

  • Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is my favorite lip treatment I think is going to work for any skin type. They have clear and tinted versions (swatches of Champagne, Lavender, Maple and Smashed here)
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Advance Zodiac * is a fun way to gift someone a lip balm that’s a little more personalized if it matches their zodiac sign! These are listed as online only. I received a few in the mail and think they’re so fun. I’ve tried the regular non-limited edition packaging one and think it’s better than the regular lip treatment, although the tinted ones are super fun too.
  • Dior Addict Lip Glow is something I actually consider more makeup than skincare, but I know some of you consider it skincare! It’s the best color-transforming balm I’ve tried. Perfect for an easy look and nice to reapply. It’s tough to pick just one shade, my favorite is Coral.

The top things I’d recommend include: Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen, Ouai Body and Scalp Scrub, Fresh Mask for Miles Set, Drunk Elephant Baby Facial, Glamglow Supermud, Kopari Coconut Deodorant, Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist and really any of the Fresh Holiday sets. I want to fill my bathroom floor to ceiling with their shower gels and face masks.

To keep on with my tradition with my Sephora Beauty Insider Event roundups, I’m doing another giveaway! I’m giving away one $250 eGift Card to Sephora. Open internationally, 18 years and older. Giveaway is going to run through November 1st. For a chance to win enter by using the steps in the widget below. I’ll select one person via the widget within 48 hours after giveaway ends. Natural Non-Toxic Deodorant from Kopari

October 15, 2018

Kopari Coconut Deodorant Review | The Beauty Look Book

Using natural deodorants is an essential part of my daily beauty routine and one of my favorites is the Kopari Coconut Deodorant. Since exploring clean beauty this year so many of you have expressed interest in me reviewing more in natural beauty products. As a huge fan of Kopari I’m thrilled to partner with them to share more about their Coconut Deodorant – it’s already a favorite and it’s been featured in a number of favorites and shopping recommendation posts along with their Coconut Melt. This particular deodorant is one of three formulas that I’m very loyal to. As I’ve tested some natural beauty products I’ve found that some formulas can be hit or miss performance-wise, but Kopari products have never let me down. I love this deodorant is aluminum- and baking soda-free, keeps odor away and doesn’t dry out. It’s no surprise so many other people love it as well because it really does work!

I’ve always avoided antiperspirants because of their ingredients. From a young age my mother and aunts always told me not to use them. For those not familiar, note that there is a difference between deodorants and antiperspirants. Antiperspirants are products with ingredients such as aluminum, baking soda and added fragrance to prevent sweating while blocking odor. These include chemicals that block pores to prevent the releasing of sweat. This in turn also prevents you from sweating out the toxins while absorbing aluminum into the body. There have been studies that link these issues to causing breast cancer and while there is a lot of debate about these claims and correlations, it’s a risk I don’t want to take. Deodorants on the other hand have ingredients that block odor but still allow you to sweat out the toxins.

Kopari Coconut Deodorant Review | The Beauty Look Book

Aside from being natural and non-toxic, the main benefit of using the Kopari Coconut Deodorant for me is that it really does work to keep odor away the entire day. It goes on the skin 100% clear and doesn’t stain white clothes or tees. It has an emollient texture that glides on but doesn’t feel sticky afterwards. It won’t have a powdery or matte dry down because of the formula, but it doesn’t feel thick or greasy. Since it doesn’t contain sweat blocking chemicals I still find that I sweat during a workout but it keeps the odor away even after runs or bike rides in the Florida humidity. For other regular day to day indoor activities it does minimize sweating for me.

Kopari Coconut Oil Deodorant - Best Natural Deodorant

It smells like sweet coconuts when you first apply it. The scent is strong but doesn’t interfere with perfume or lotion. I also like that I’ve had a Kopari tube for several months and it has never shown any signs of drying out like some of my other deodorants did way before they were even 1/2 used up. It’s maintained the same consistency and freshness since the day I opened it up.

Kopari Natural Coconut Deodorant Review | The Beauty Look Book

Kopari Coconut Deodorant | The Beauty Look Book

I’ve been focusing on being more healthy and working on building my strength this past year. Steps have been taken to change our diets to live healthier. I’ve also increased activity with more exercise and weight training to build strength. I’ve taken more care of my body to help cope with stress. Having a more active life style combined with the Florida heat makes me prone to sweating more so having a good deodorant that works is absolutely essential.

Kopari Coconut Deodorant Review | The Beauty Look Book

I particularly love the fact that there is now a mini version available in the Beauty Besties Set at Sephora. The full size is 2 oz/ 57 g while the mini is 0.9 oz/ 26 g. I had been carrying the full-size around with me from home to my bag to places like the beach or in a bag when we go to the bay to run. The mini size is super convenient to have an extra around to keep in a gym bag or beach bag. So far even in outdoor for extended periods of time heat the stick hasn’t melted in my bag!

Kopari Coconut Deodorant Full Size vs Mini

I’ve used this Kopari Coconut Deodorant formula for months and like it enough to keep using it consistently. There have been a number of formulas I’ve bought in the past that didn’t work and I tossed after a few tries. I’m really happy with this one. Love that it’s non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without aluminum, baking soda, and silicone.

As always I’d love to hear your thoughts about natural deodorants that you’ve tried. Let me know what worked or what didn’t for you! If there are any other things in natural beauty you’d like to see reviewed please let me know in the comments! You can watch their #TheTruthStinks Video for more information about this new launch. Kopari Coconut Deodorant is available at Sephora and other Kopari retailers. It’s one I highly recommend.

Many thanks to Kopari for partnering to sponsor this post. As always all opinions are my own.

Chanel Hand Cream Review: La Creme Main, Texture Riche and No 5 L’Eau

October 8, 2018

Chanel Hand Cream Review, La Creme Main, No 5 Leau On Hand Cream and Texture Riche

I’ve been a little absent on the blog and Instagram catching up on some things at home, doing some de-cluttering and also fixing up things at our house. I have a lot to share with you in beauty this week and today I have a review of the three Chanel Hand Creams that have launched over the past year. Chanel launched their first version La Creme Main Hand Cream last year in the cutest egg shaped packaging I’ve ever seen. The second launch was in a scented version called the On Hand Cream in the No 5 L’Eau which is a soft powdery version of the perfume. Most recently this fall Chanel released yet another formula called La Creme Main Texture Riche which is supposed to be a deeper richer texture that offers eight hours of hydration. I have thoughts on all three for you today.

Chanel Hand Cream Review, La Creme Main, No 5 Leau On Hand Cream and Texture Riche

All of them are packaged the same way in a white squeeze tube shaped like an egg. The cap is removeable and I’m really happy to report it always clicks back on even when in a handbag. They run at $50 each for 1.7 fl oz/40 ml, made in France.

Chanel Hand Cream packaging

La Creme Main

I reviewed the original La Creme Main when it launched last year and still love it to this day. It’s hit or miss for some. I like it because it has a velvety dry down without any sticky or emollient residue. It smells like a soft sweet floral with a clean linen-like feel. It’s formulated to soften, smooth and brighten the hands. One I apply it, I do notice that my hands experience instant relief from dryness and they also look smoother (probably due to the silicone). The overall texture and feel is very lightweight, easy to blend and absorbs fast. If you have extremely dry hands or cuticles you will need something stronger like L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream or Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve.

Shown above, Le Vernis in Organdi, Le Vernis in Nuvola Rosa, Le Rouge Crayon Discretion, Rouge Coco Gloss in Melted Honey and Bourgeoisie, my kitty is obsessed with the shape as well, whenever he sees it, he guards it like it’s his lol! I have gotten quite a few scratches trying to grab it back.

No 5 L’Eau On Hand Cream

The second version is the No 5 L’Eau On Hand Cream scent which is a soft powdery version of the perfume. I really love the Eau de Toilette but the hand cream has a more powdery feel to it. The scent lingers a long time and is fairly strong for a hand cream. It also offers light moisture with a soft emollient finish like a lightweight lotion. It does dry down nicely but doesn’t quite have the same velvety feel as the others do. Since I wear other perfumes this isn’t one I reach for often unless I’m wearing the Chanel No 5 L’Eau as the hand cream is pretty strong.

La Creme Main Texture Riche

The newest version is the La Creme Main Texture Riche. This has a noticeably thicker feel than the original and also has more moisture while still having that velvet dry down feel. Chanel reports that this offers eight hours of hydration. I can’t say for sure exactly how long I felt it on the skin, but when I apply it in the morning I don’t feel the need to reapply anything throughout the day. It’s thicker with a product called May Rose Wax so it creates a veil of moisture on the skin that stays put without being heavy. It has a similar scent to the original hand cream which I noticed stayed there for hours.

Chanel Hand Cream Review, La Creme Main, No 5 Leau On Hand Cream and Texture Riche

I really love all three. I’m partial to the original version just because it works so well for humid weather conditions, night or day. I keep one by my bed and often one on my desk to apply as needed. It works well at night because there’s no greasy residue so if I touch my pillow or face it doesn’t feel sticky. The scent is pleasant as well so it doesn’t interfere with perfume. Going into the dry winter season I think I’ll really like the Texture Riche. Best Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives Sets for Skin, Hair + Home

Best Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives Sets | The Beauty Look Book

Today is the day the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens for everyone! It runs through August 5th. I have a few more sale swatches and reviews coming up in the next few days but today I have a roundup of the best beauty sets I hauled for the skin, body, hair and home. There are a lot of great value sets and deals for beauty and as the ultimate beauty junkie I could not be more thrilled. For quick reference, you can see my initial haul post here. Also reviewed so far are the NARS Endless Summer Collection, Charlotte Tilbury sets and the Sisley All Eyes on Sisley Set. Several of the items I bought already sold out, I’m keeping my fingers crossed they will be restocked! I hauled quite a few of the sets this year:

A look at each set plus thoughts and first impressions. For the hair I always look forward to Moroccanoil sets. They often have jumbo sizes which are hard to find individually for me and I love when they come with a pump. I’m actually pretty stocked on shampoo and conditioner right now so I bought this year’s Moroccanoil The Ultimate Hydration Collection for my mother-in-law to try out. It’s $74 for a $104 value and contains a 16.9 oz Hydrating Shampoo, 16.9 Hydrating Conditioner, 0.69 oz Body Souffle and 0.84 Hair Oil Treatment.

For the body, I had to buy the Le Labo Body and Hair Travel Set for Andrew so he can have one for travel. Both of us love the Hinoki Shower Gel. It has a really potent unique scent that lingers after the shower. We’ve gone through several of the full size which I need to repurchase again. This particular set has four 2.5 oz sizes of the Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel and Body Lotion.

The Malin + Goetz Jumbo Rum Body Wash came at a perfect time for me. I discovered it during our stay in Miami and fell in love with it. It has a gentle feel to it but has a really delicious dark rum scent. I usually gravitate towards body cleansers that have a little more strength in terms of cleansing. This one is gentle and works best if I lather with a wash cloth. I’m obsessed with the scent though and it does leave the skin soft. It’s 32 oz and comes with a pump. Win win for me.

The beautyblender blend.cleanse.carry Set has two pink beautyblenders, a mini solid cleanser and a carrying case. I was really excited about it but have to admit I was hoping it would be a hard storage case instead of a soft silicone case. This was my fault though as I did not read the online description and in store I didn’t take the time to touch it. The price cannot be beat though and I’m excited to put the case to the test.

Glamglow is always a go-to for me. I was tempted to stock up for myself but decided to stick with what I have and repurchase items I use up later. I did buy the Glamglow The Clear Skin Set for my brother. It’s a $96 value but for the sale it’s priced at $59 for a full size SUPERCLEANSE Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser, SUPERMUD Clearing Mask (the best in my opinion) and a mini Matte Glow Moisturizer. I also bought the Glamglow x Becca We Know Glow Duo which just launched online. I have not had a chance to try this yet but did hand swatch the powder which applies like a warm gold color on the skin. I hope this comes out in a full size eventually. The pink gravity mud appears to be the same as the current silver version in the purple tube, just a different color.

The Diptyque Floral Candle & Eau de Toilette Set is a beautiful set with three mini candles in Baies, Roses and Tubereuse. It has the three matching spritzer perfumes in mini sizes which are perfect for me to carry around in my purse. I had been eyeing Do Son for months now although it’s more of a fall scent to me so I’m trying to wait before buying. The mini will get me by for now. It also has Eau Rose and L’Ombre Dans L’eau (also better for fall).

Last but not least is the Jo Malone Travel Candle Collection which has three 2.1 oz travel candles of Lime Basil and Mandarin, English Pear and Freesia and Peony and Blush Suede. This was an impulse buy for me. The only one I truly love is the Lime Basil scent so I might end up exchanging this for a couple of the full size candles or one of their hand washes instead.

Sisley Paris x Nordstrom All Eyes on Sisley Set

Sisley All Eyes on Sisley x Nordstrom Set Review | The Beauty Look Book

I’m continuing my reviews of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Exclusives with a look at one of the value sets from Sisley Paris. This year they have two starter/introductory sets for the Anniversary Sale including All Eyes on Sisley ($210) and Introduction to Sisley ($175). The line actually has quite a few starter sets for other products and today I have a look at the All Eyes on Sisley Set which includes two full-sized items of the Sisleya L’Intégral Anti-Age Eye & Lip Contour Cream (0.5 oz) and Eye Contour Mask (1.16 oz). Both are great to help reduce puffiness around the eye area – something my eyes are very prone to.

Sisley Set with Sisleya Eye and Lip Contour Cream, small ridoki roller and Eye Contour Mask

The Sisleya L’Intégral Anti-Age Eye & Lip Contour Cream is an anti-aging cream that helps firm and lift the eyelids and under the eyes it reduces puffiness. It comes with a small ridoki massage tool which works wonders to help prep and smooth the eye or lip area before you apply the cream. It has a metal plated roller with an amazing cooling and smoothing effect. You massage it in strokes around the eye moving away from the center of the eye. The gentle motions help support circulation and works really well to reduce swelling around the area.

For the cream, a small amount goes a long way. It’s hydrating and in the immediate term reduces the appearance of dryness and fine lines. Skin feels instantly refreshed without any greasy residue. It absorbs into the skin, has a hydrating feel, doesn’t cause breakouts under the eye and has no scent to it. Key ingredients include Persian acacia, yeast and soy protein complex, soy peptide extract, Atlas cedar extract and pomegranate fermented extract. I’ve tried it on both the lips and eyes, I prefer it on the eyes. Full size plus more details listed here.

Full ingredient list per Sisley: SORBITOL, MINERAL OIL, OLEYL ALCOHOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL DICAPRYLATE/DICAPRATE, CETYL PHOSPHATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) PROTEIN, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, TRIETHANOLAMINE, STEARYL ALCOHOL, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) FLOWER EXTRACT, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT EXTRACT, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, SESAMUM INDICUM (SESAME) SEED OIL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PANTHENOL, POLYACRYLAMIDE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CARBOMER, C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN, CETEARETH-33, SODIUM METHYLPARABEN, SORBIC ACID, TETRASODIUM EDTA EG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, OCTOXYNOL-13, LAURETH-7, TRISTEARIN, METHYLPARABEN, ACETYLATED GLYCOL STEARATE, FRAGRANCE, ETHYLPARABEN, BUTYLPARABEN, BHT, ISOBUTYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, (CONT. LINALOOL)

The Eye Contour Mask has been a favorite since I tried it from the Beauty Subscription Program (it’s exclusive to the Sisley website). This particular tube is my third one. It’s a mask you leave on for around 10 minutes then wipe off. It also hydrates and depuffs the eye area and soothes the skin. They recommend using 2-3 times a week and I use it around 2 times weekly. It’s one of my favorite things to do mask-wise. Ingredients include Arnica, Chestnut tree, Gingko Biloba, Vegetable Glycerin, Vitamins E and B5, Chlorella, Malachite, Linden, Alpha-Bisabolol, Rose Water. Full size plus more details listed here.

Full ingredient list per Sisley: GLYCERIN, WATER/EAU (WATER), HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ISODECYL NEOPENTANOATE, SODIUM ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, ROSA CENTIFOLIA, FLOWER WATER, PANTHENOL, ALLANTOIN, BISABOLOL, TILIA CORDATA EXTRACT, MALACHITE EXTRACT, ARNICA MONTANA FLOWER EXTRACT, GINKGO BILOBA LEAF EXTRACT, AESCULUS HIPPOCASTANUM (HORSE CHESNUT) SEED EXTRACT, ALGAE EXTRACT, ROSA DAMASCENE FLOWER OIL, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, PEG-40, HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, PHOSPHOLIPIDS, POLYGLYCERYL-10 STEARATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, DISODIUM EDTA, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, DEHYDROACETIC ACID, TOCOPHEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, (cont. citronellol, geraniol.)

Sisley Eye Contour Mask review

For the Nordstrom Sale this set is priced at $210 but the value of both products individually is $355 so it’s like they are adding the eye mask to the set for free. The prices are indeed very steep but I think it’s 100% worth the splurge. I used up and repurchased the Eye Contour Mask which I never want to be without. The eye cream is one I enjoy using and the roller feels really nice on the face. If you have more than a few things on your radar, make sure you check out the Gift With Purchase going on. It also has a step up option.

Sisley All Eyes on Sisley x Nordstrom Set Review | The Beauty Look Book

You can find the All Eyes on Sisley Set at Nordstrom. Today is the last day for Early Access (for cardholders) and the sale officially opens up to the public tomorrow! All the Beauty Exclusives are on their site now. A few of you asked if I had purchased any other skincare sets after my initial haul post. I fell in love with the Malin + Goetz Rum Body wash in our Miami hotel and was thrilled to find a Jumbo Rum Wash available for the sale so I picked it up. I also ordered the Glamglow The Clear Skin Set for my brother. And then not on sale but I repurchased the La Mer Moisturizing Soft Lotion because Andrew ran out and asked for a replacement. There is a nice GWP for La Mer so I added a powder to replace the one I used up to take advantage of the gift.

One last note is the Sisley team is hosting another giveaway for 1 US reader. I’ll be posting it on my Instagram page @beautylookbook later today so be sure to check it out for a chance to win this set.

Do you have any Sisley favorites? Or skincare favorites right now? Let me know in the comments! P.S. The Color Twist Set from last year is still available online and was just marked down.

Many thanks to Sisley for hosting the giveaway! Nordstrom set provided for review.
