Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette of Pops Supersonic Girl + Superstar Lips Review

October 24, 2018

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette of Pops Supersonic Girl + Superstar Lips Review

I’m on a Charlotte Tilbury kick with another review on some holiday launches. I reviewed the Stars In Your Eyes Palette a couple weeks ago and love it, but I received an overwhelming number of requests to also review her Luxury Palette of Pops Supersonic Girl. I ordered it before it sold out and also added some of her Superstar Lips to my online shopping cart. Thoughts, swatches and review today.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette of Pops Supersonic Girl + Superstar Lips Review

Case above by The Daily Edited. Tray from West Elm. Bracelet is Celine.

The Luxury Palette of Pops comes in two color options, I opted for the warmer Supersonic Girl because it launched first. It has already sold out at both Nordstrom and Charlotte Tilbury, I don’t know if they will restock. I hope I can ease your mind if you missed out. It’s good, but not as good as her Stars in Your Eyes or the NARS Singapore Eyeshadow Quad.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette of Pops Supersonic Girl Review Swatches

There are four glistening shadows that have intense microsparkle. It’s like finely milled glitter that glides onto the lids. The color is very sheer but you can still see color once applied on the lids. The shades include a glistening pink, warm orange shimmer, shimmering warm brown, and warm red sparkle. I love the pink and brown, the orange and red both kinda morph into the same color on my eyes and it’s very very warm. I think it’s beautiful but more of a party palette or layering for me. As a stand alone it doesn’t have deep enough shades to do a whole eye look for me as I prefer having at least one darker shade I can use as a liner or to smoke out. The Stars in Your Eyes is very different even though there are a few similar tones. To me this one is a better buy because of the versatility and color range.

She also launched a new lipstick formula called Superstar Lips. There are four shades Happy Lips, Walk of Shame, Pillow Talk and Confident Lips at Nordstrom and Charlotte Tilbury. Additionally there are two shades in Sexy Lips and Wild Lips exclusive to Charlotte Tilbury’s website. I ordered four from Nordstrom sight unseen.

Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips Happy Lips, Walk of Shame, Pillow Talk and Confident Lips review

These are an ultra slim glossy lipstick. Formula is semi-thick and glossy. They feel lush on the lips and are definitely not weightless. I think the formula is really really good but they’re super tiny especially for the price. They’re $34 each for 1.8 g, one of my Matte Revolution boxes says the formula is 3.5 g for the same price. Granted I have so many lipsticks so I’m not worried about using up colors or running out. I still think for the amount/size they should have lowered the price. They are scented in the same vanilla scent her other lipsticks have. The color stays put for hours, it didn’t slide around even though it’s glossy. Although if you’re lips are prone to having product slide around, I’d recommend you add one of her Lip Cheat pencils on your lips first.

Happy Lips is my favorite, it’s a happy coral peach color. Walk of Shame is a warm glossy red. Pillow Talk is similar to the matte Pillow Talk, it’s a nude pink, I prefer the matte version because it shows up better on my lips. Confident Lips looks black in the tube but has that Clinique Black Honey vibe, it goes on a deep wine plum.

One last look, I took these photos a few days before my hair transformation (more on Instagram in case you missed it!). Also wearing Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 6.5 + 7.5 mixed, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder #2, Supersonic Girl on the Eyes, By Terry Lash-Expert Mascara, Hourglass Arch Brow Pencil in Warm Brunette.

Charlotte Tilbury Happy Lips and Supersonic Girl

Overall I do think the Luxury Palette of Pops has a great formula for glitter sparkles. The colors in general are too warm for me to wear alone and also very sheerish on my medium tan complexion. It’s going to be perfect for the holiday season but you can get a similar effect by using similar shades and popping one of the Hourglass Scattered Light shadows on top. I think her Superstar Lips are really good with a beautiful glossy sheen. For the price they are extremely small. My favorite is Confident Lips – it’s the perfect deep fall holiday color that will look different on everyone but I still think flattering regardless of skin tone.

I bought the Super Sonic Girl and Superstar Lips at Nordstrom. Hoping she will restock the palette for those who wanted it! Also available online at Charlotte Tilbury. Did you check these out yet? What did you think?

New Charlotte Tilbury Magic Powder, Magic Away Concealer + Stars In Your Eyes Palette

October 14, 2018

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, Magic Powder and Stars in Your Eyes Palette Review

Today I’m covering a few new launches from Charlotte Tilbury including her Genius Magic Powder ($45), Magic Away Concealer ($32) and swatches of the new Stars In Your Eyes Palette ($75). I’ve been the biggest fan of her Airbrush Flawless Finish Pressed Powder in #2 for years now. It’s one I still swear by today and I was really excited to put her new face products to the test. I hauled everything from Nordstrom and two of the three products I hauled are hits.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, Magic Powder and Stars in Your Eyes Palette Review

Magic Powder + Magic Away Concealer

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, Magic Powder Review

Up first is a look at her new face products. The Magic Powder is a loose powder for under the eyes and all over the face. It’s a soft light-diffusing powder to blur the skin. I find that the Airbrush Flawless Pressed and Magic Powder Loose colors don’t match with the same numbers. #2 in the pressed is a perfect match for me while #2 in the loose is significantly lighter in color but it does have a translucent feel to me. The powder itself has a really nice matte effect without looking flat or cakey even though the color is pale. The jar seems well made and has a twist lid inside so you can keep powder from flying around when you store it. The only downside is the smell – it has a very strong plastic smell which I thought was the packaging, which could be the culprit. But if it is, it is also in the powder and it’s pretty bad. The good news is that once it’s on the face and sets, the smell dissipates after a while. Still it’s a scent I don’t think any makeup product should have. A quick look at the product description says it’s made of veggie powder and natural oils to absorb oil and condition the skin at the same time. This could be the reason it smells. For now I’m going to stick with the pressed version and other brands of loose powders. My favorites rounded up and reviewed here.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Powder vs Flawless Pressed Shade 2

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Pressed Powder, Magic Powder, Magic Away Concealer, Magic Foundation swatches

The Magic Away Liquid Concealer is a hit! I ordered two shades 6 and 7 sight unseen based on the fact that I mix the Magic Foundation in 6 and 7. Both concealer shades work for me, 6 is a good brightening color but 7 is an exact match for my tan skin right now. It’s a smooth finish, full coverage concealer with a sponge tip applicator. I actually prefer tube or wand applicators but this one works to blend out the product right on the face without having to use another sponge. I’ve been a die-hard fan of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer for under eyes because I need something that is a little bit dewy. This comes in very close second. The Charlotte Tilbury has full perfect coverage, stays put, blends easily and does remove the subtle darkness I have under my eyes some mornings. Shade 6 applied below:

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer 6

Left is applied heavily straight from the tube, you can apply as much or as little as you want. I did a heavy face swatch so you could see the color and texture. Right side is completely blended out with a sponge. Also wearing a mix of Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in 6+7 mixed all over the face, Diorshow Brow Styler in Universal Brown and NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Swing on the lips. Top from Madewell.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer 6

I’ve swatched the concealer below next to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, Macadamia and Ginger. I’ve also included one of the new MAC Studio Fix 24 Hour Wear Concealers in NC35, NC38 and NC40 (reviewing these soon, but I find this formula runs a tad bit lighter than the foundations).

Stars in Your Eyes Palette

The Stars in Your Eyes Palette is new for the season and it is one of the most beautiful warm palettes I’ve tried. I still don’t consider myself as really loving the red/warm eye shadow trend that’s been going on for a while, but this one is very wearable, doesn’t look too warm on my skin and has excellent color payoff. There is a mix of matte and shimmers. I think it’s a significant improvement compared to last years which I bought and still use but find high maintenance because it takes me a lot of layering to get the pigment I want. This year’s is perfect in every way for me.

Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette Review

This one has four sets of color-themed trios designed to Prime, Enhance and Smoke, but you can mix and match any of the combinations.

  • Love Eyes has a matte cream, shimmery rose gold, matte warm rose
  • Power Eyes has a shimmery soft gold, pale champagne shimmer, shimmery bronze
  • Happy Eyes has a rosy shimmer, warm soft brown matte, deeper soft brown matte
  • Confident Eyes has a shimmery mauve, shimmery plum and matte plum purple

Below wearing a mix of Stars in Your Eyes Palette Love Eyes and Happy Eyes, First Love Chic to Cheek Blush and NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Swing, same base as mentioned above:

Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette Review

As much as I love the pretty rose gold packaging it makes photographing product difficult. Colors will look slightly different in photos depending on what you see in the reflection, so I’ve included two photos, one with flash, one without.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, Magic Powder and Stars in Your Eyes Palette Review

Overall I highly recommend the Magic Away Concealer. I think it’s worth a look if you want a full coverage, smooth creamy concealer. It doesn’t cake or crease on me under the eyes and it also has enough pigment that you can use it to cover spots like sun spots or dark circles. I find it has better coverage than her other formulas. The Stars in Your Eyes Palette was a pleasant hit given last year’s formula was just ok for me. I’m thrilled that even though it’s warm toned it’s not too red or warm and easy to wear. The Magic Powder was something I had such high hopes for. The shades are a bit odd to me because the numbers don’t match in different formulas and the smell is so bad, but as a product it works on my face just fine. For now if you’re in the market for a new loose powder I’d say my top picks are the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder and Laura Mercier Translucent Loose (both compared here).

You can find the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, Powder and Stars in Your Eyes Palette at Nordstrom. Also available online at Charlotte Tilbury.

Have you tried any of these yet? What did you think?

Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette + Pretty Pink Lipstick Set Review

July 14, 2018

Nordstrom Anniversary Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette and Pretty Pink Lip Set Review

Charlotte Tilbury has a few sets and palettes available for this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I hauled two of the items! I picked up the Glowing Pretty Skin Palette ($75) and the Pretty Pink Lipstick Set ($60). As a long-time Charlotte Tilbury fan I was thrilled to find some new color options for the sale and think both picks are worth checking out.

Nordstrom Anniversary Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette and Pretty Pink Lip Set Review

The Glowing Pretty Skin Palette is a mirrored compact with six powders. Each powder is 2.8 g/0.09 oz and the texture is very soft but pigment is visible and smooth. If you’re familiar with her Instant Look Palettes you know they tend to have sheer/natural color payoff. For many of you her first Natural Beauty was really nice in concept but didn’t have enough pigment or color to show up on your skin (it didn’t show up on me). The good news is that this Glowing Pretty Skin Palette is MUCH better and has everything I want in a face palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette Nordstrom Anniversary 2018

In this palette you get:

  • Airbrush Powder #2 – a neutral skin-tone matte powder that covers very well
  • Pretty Blush – a soft peachy flush satin
  • Illuminating Glow – champagne soft pink shimmer
  • Bronze and Contour – neutral-cool soft grey tan matte
  • Summer Blush – a peachy coral with a hint of sheen
  • Highlighting Glow – a soft yellow gold shimmer

Both blushes swatch almost identical on the arm. At first glance I felt it was almost a waste to have 2 of the same color in a palette. You will notice a difference on the face though. The bottom one is more shimmery and a tad more vibrant while the top one is more matte. The overall effect is soft but still noticeable on my medium tan skin. By comparison to the Becca Be a Light Palettes this Charlotte Tilbury one runs more neutral in undertone for the powders and the blushes have more color. Texture and finish of course are completely different.

Next is the Pretty Pink Lipstick Set which has three full-sized products in a K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Blushing Dream, Matte Revolution Lipstick in Rose Kiss and Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Pillow Talk. The lipsticks are new and exclusive shades but the lipliner is a repromote of one of her best selling colors. Texture and formula of everything is really good.

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Pink Lip Set Blushing Dream, Rose Kiss and Pillow Talk

I’ve reviewed her lipsticks many times before but in case you missed the reviews or are new she has a few different formulas. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick is a full coverage, super creamy and very opaque lipstick formula. It can pull on the thick side but all you need to do is blot. They have a natural shine finish and stay put really well. Blushing Dream is a pretty soft pink. She also has a Matte Revolution formula which is one of the few matte lipsticks I love. They’re a luminous matte in the sense they have a matte finish but it doesn’t look or feel dry and they don’t make the lips look like shriveled raisins like some mattes do. I absolutely love them! Rose Kiss pulls very rosy on my lips and on the warm side.

Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette and Blushing Dream KISSING Lipstick

Nordstrom Anniversary Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette and Pretty Pink Lip Set Review

Overall thumbs up. I have medium-tan skin and the palette still shows up on my skin in a natural way. If you are lighter than me it will for sure show up and is neutral enough that it won’t pull orangey on your skin. If you are 1-2 shades darker I think it will still show up on your skin but it will definitely be a lot more neutral/flesh toned. I hope she makes more of these because I love the soft natural texture and finish.

For the lips nothing would have stopped me from buying the set, but I do think Blushing Dream is really close to The Duchess (reviewed here). Rose Kiss is warmer than I’m used to but I still think it’s a very wearable pretty romantic shade that has color without being too bold. I already own a few of the Pillow Talk Lip Liners, I would have preferred a new shade but the set is priced at a value price. I’m gifting the liner to a friend.

You can find the Charlotte Tilbury Glowing Pretty Skin Palette ($75) and the Pretty Pink Lipstick Set ($60) both exclusively at Nordstrom for the Anniversary Sale. Early Access for the sale is going on until the 20th and then it opens to the public.

There is also a set called The Gift of Glowing Skin Set ($75) and Supermodel Body XL Shimmer Shape, Hydrate & Glow ($75). Her body shimmer is one of the prettiest ones I’ve tried but since I rarely wear body shimmers I did not buy this one. Also be sure to check the Beauty Gift With Purchase page!

Have you checked out these sets yet? Are they on your radar?

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filters, Cheek Hug Brush + Collagen Lip Bath

June 20, 2018

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filter, Cheek Hug Brush and Collagen Lip Bath

Charlotte Tilbury launched Part 2 of her Beauty Filters collection focused on lips and cheeks. I picked up all three of the items including the Pretty Youth Glow Filter Kit in Pretty Fresh and Seduce Beauty ($60 each for blush duo + brush) along with the new Collagen Lip Bath ($35). I reviewed Part 1 last month on her Bigger Brighter Eyes Collection. Part 2 for lips + cheeks do not disappoint color and quality-wise.

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filters

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filters Seduce Beauty and Pretty Fresh | The Beauty Look Book

The Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filters are duo cream cheek palettes and the kits come with the Cheek Hug Brush at Nordstrom. It is only because of this brush that I think these palettes are worth the high price tag of $60. (The blush is available individually at Charlotte Tilbury’s website though.) In terms of quality and pigment both colors are really good but to me it seems as though there is very little product. These each contain a highlighter and blush – the brush is perfectly shaped and very well made to pick up both colors and apply them in a perfect blush/highlight motion. I simply swipe across the palette and apply in a swipe up method on the cheeks, then blend/buff with either my fingers or a separate blush brush. Texture is a silky cream finish. It’s truly a cream to powder like the description states. Color on me is medium to sheer.

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filters Seduce Beauty and Pretty Fresh swatches | The Beauty Look Book

Seduce Blush is the more neutral/muted option with a soft champagne and pinky-nude. There is a slight hint of shimmer in the pan but on the cheeks it’s very diffused and satiny.

Pretty Fresh is a brighter option with a paler rose shimmer and brighter pink. This one is my favorite of the two. It can be built up for more color but blends out to a very nice flush.

Closer look at the Cheek Hug Brush:

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek Hug Brush | The Beauty Look Book

Overall these had medium lasting power on me. I’m still experimenting with primers and bases to find what will last through the humidity. I felt like I had it all figured out last summer. Then we had about six months of truly mild weather here and I feel like I’ve forgotten what worked in humidity! I think these blushes are both excellent. I still really love her Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow for texture and finish and think if she had made these Pretty Youth Glow Filters colors in powder form I’d snap them up in a heart beat and that others would too. I’d say in terms of finish/texture the lasting power and pigment, the Pretty Youth Glow Filters is similar to that of the Sisley Phyto-Twist Blush sticks.

Some swatch comparisons:

Collagen Lip Bath

Then there is the Collagen Lip Bath which all of my friends were texting me about asking if I had tried it and if I thought it was worth the price. I love all of Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Lustres and Lipsticks so had high hopes for this even though it looked like it was basically a clear gloss. As soon as I opened my heart both sank and then rose back up.

Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath Review | The Beauty Look Book

When I removed the wand I was completely shocked at how little product there actually was in the tube. The wand takes up 1/2 the space! Then the actual wand itself is shaped like the top of a heart which is the cutest applicator I’ve ever seen. After getting over the shock of how little product there was I swiped it and fell in love. It makes my lips look lush and plump without any tingle or sting. They truly look super healthy and plump in the best way I’ve ever seen. It’s supposed to have peppermint extract to cool, but for some reason I did not feel any cooling sensation. It’s basically clear even though it’s a soft rose tint in the tube. Below is what my lips look like with clearish gloss, they almost always turn rose pink.

Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath Swatch

So in terms of performance and what it does, I 100% love it. I’m still peeved at how little product there is and I feel like I’m one who rarely gets upset about product weight. I still really like it and will use it up entirely in no time at all.

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filter, Cheek Hug Brush and Collagen Lip BathOverall beautiful. In my mind Charlotte Tilbury can do no wrong with the quality and color choice of her products. I think the Pretty Youth Glow Filters and Collagen Lip Products are beautiful additions to her line. I’d recommend them for anyone who wants a soft pretty and natural feminine glow. I do think the price points are a little steep, especially for the amount of product you get. I do feel the Cheek Hug Brush is really well made and makes the duos worth the splurge. For creams they aren’t too emollient but if you have super oily skin you might want to try before you buy if you can. As for the Collagen Lip Bath, I love it, but I don’t love the price. I wish it came in a squeeze tube like the MAC clear lipglass. The brush tip is nice and the design quite innovative but not a game changer to make it worth the steep price.

Charlotte Tilbury Haul: Star Gold, Rose Gold, The Duchess, English Beauty and American Sweetheart

May 13, 2018

Charlotte Tilbury Haul Star Gold, Rose Gold, The Duchess, English Beauty, American Sweetheart, Bitch Perfect Lipstick

I did another Charlotte Tilbury haul and ordered a few items that are online exclusives. Many of you have been asking about some of the limited-edition lipstick exclusives and I resisted for months but finally caved. I’m still loving the Beauty Filters Collection for Eyes very much but as a fan of her Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Shadows I knew I had to buy the new Star Gold and Rose Gold Shades even if it was going to be sight unseen. What I hauled:

The new Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Shadows in Star Gold and Rose Gold do not disappoint. Star Gold is the prettiest warm coppery bronze shade. In case you haven’t tried these (they’ve been out for a few years now), the formula is creamy and emollient with pretty shimmers. I find the pigment, texture and lasting power to be really good on my lids. I like to wear them alone, 2 shades layered together or as a base for any powder eyeshadow.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Shadows in Star Gold and Rose Gold Review + Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Shadows in Star Gold and Rose Gold Review + Swatches

To compare them to other brands they are most similar to the Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes. Chanel Ombre Premieres are not as emollient with a drier texture and they have a more opaque base. Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks are a little bit more emollient, but the Charlotte Tilbury cream shadows have more buildable pigment.

I use her shades Bette and Marie Antoinette on a weekly basis. I was really excited to find she launched more. For comparisons Star Gold is a true coppery gold which I find unique in my collection of cream shadows. Rose Gold is almost identical to Tom Ford’s Pink Haze. The difference is noticeable with Charlotte Tilbury’s being a bit warmer and Tom Ford’s a little more pink, but once blended I think they are really close. Shown below:

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Shadows in Star Gold and Rose Gold Review + Swatches compared to Tom Ford, Chantecaille and Laura Mercier

There are several online exclusives for lipsticks. I ordered the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula in The Duchess which is a medium cool-toned mauve rose, Matte Revolution in English Beauty which is a perfect nude pink, and K.I.S.S.I.N.G in American Sweetheart which is a warm peachy neutral rose. I also repurchased K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect which used to be more pinkish on me and to my surprise my tan has now made it where this is a lighter neutral peachy pink rather than a medium pink. I still had remnants from an older tube to compare and made sure the color is indeed the same, my 2-3 shades deeper skintone compared to when I was in San Diego makes a difference with lighter lipsticks!

I was a little bit prepared to not love the three online exclusives. I did search online but couldn’t find swatches that would tell me what they’d look like on my lips. The reason why is that the colors look almost identical in the tubes, on the arm they swatch warm and dark, but on the lips they look a lot better and aren’t as dark as arm swatches go. I’m relieved to report that my money was well spent. All three are perfect. The Duchess is a gorgeous creamy pink. English Beauty is my perfect nude for my medium tan skintone right now. It’s a bit more neutral compared to Pillow Talk which was my previous favorite. American Sweetheart is nice, but if I had to skip one it would be this, it’s warmer which isn’t a bad thing, just on me more peachy and I already own a ton of peachy lip colors.

For those who have missed my previous reviews on the Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick formula, her K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick is creamy and opaque with full coverage. They have a nice shine finish but aren’t glossy. Lasting power is excellent although they sometimes get on my teeth because they are so creamy. Her Matte Revolution Lipstick is among the few matte lipstick formulas I actually like because in general I hate matte lipsticks (they make my lips look shriveled like raisins!). Her mattes are modern mattes with a velvety finish but soft sheen. It’s hard to describe but they are amazing.

Bottom line this was a very happy haul. I’m 100% happy with everything, the lipstick colors are perfect and quality/pigment is excellent. If you already own Tom Ford Golden Peach Duo or Pink Haze, you can probably skip Charlotte Tilbury’s Rose Gold if you want to avoid dupes.

Right now Star Gold, Rose Gold, The Duchess, English Beauty and American Sweetheart are all exclusive online at Charlotte Tilbury. I’m not sure if they will launch elsewhere eventually, I know the lipsticks have been out for some time and haven’t popped up anywhere else (they are limited-edition). Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Filter Collection Bigger Brighter Eyes

April 28, 2018

Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Filter Exaggereyes and Transformeyes Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury has a new Beauty Filter Collection with her Bigger Brighter Eyes launch. In this collection she has two new limited-edition eyeshadow palettes called Exaggereyes and Transformeyes ($53 each for 5.2 g/0.18 oz) and a new mascara called Legendary Lashes Volume 2 in Black Vinyl ($32 for 8 ml/0.27 fl oz). The items launched early online at Charlotte Tilbury but are now available at Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman. I ordered everything sight unseen and when I opened the boxes my heart sank a little. Even though I’m a neutral shadow lover, the colors looked very boring and fairly basic to me, but I’m happy to report that upon swatching and testing – the palettes turned out to be a lot prettier on the eyes than I had anticipated!

The two eyeshadow quads are part of her Beauty Filters collection because the palettes have been designed to create the illusion of wider and brighter looking eyes. I was skeptical that the shades could be that good but they do just that. At first glance the colors look really dupeable. I think they can be, but the undertone, texture and pigment have the perfect amount of neutral + warmth to naturally enhance the eyes. It’s rare that a quad has all colors covered for me – I usually need to add at least one shade to warm up the look or add depth. These do everything I need for an eye look with the exception of liner + mascara.

Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Palettes in Exaggereyes and Transformeyes | The Beauty Look Book

Exaggereyes is the more neutral rose gold option. It swatched a lot warmer than I thought it would based on what I saw in the pan. It’s warm but not too warm. Colors include a pale warm champagne, shimmering tan rose, sheer sparkling silver mauve and warm tan rose brown.

Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Filter Exaggereyes Eyeshadow Palette Review + Swatches

Transformeyes has a warm gold shimmer, warm copper, matte warm red brown and matte deep brown. I thought this would be way too warm for my complexion but it’s a lot more wearable than it looks in the pan.

The Legendary Lashes Volume 2 is the best mascara she has launched to date. I’ve liked both of her formulas for the color, but they didn’t hold the curl. This one thickens and volumizes and holds the curl a little bit better. It’s still not as good as some others like Stila Huge Lash, L’Oreal Lash Paradise, Tom Ford Waterproof Extreme or Chantecaille’s Faux Cils but I think it’s good because it didn’t smudge or flake on me.

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara Volume2

Overall lots of love. Lasting power is excellent, pigment is smooth and easy to build, colors are perfect for everyday wear. They’re also versatile enough to wear with any lip/cheek combination! You may want to shop your stash if you already own a lot of neutrals. The colors are similar to other brands out there. Still I find them excellent just as they are. No tweaking required for me. I rarely do backups anymore, but both of these are so perfect for me I just ordered backups.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter Review and Swatches

The latest from Charlotte Tilbury is her new Hollywood Flawless Filter ($44 each for 1 fl oz/30 ml). It’s a complexion booster which you can use in a variety of ways for a radiant glow. I’m a huge fan of glowing skin and love mixing in liquid luminizers with foundation, applying as a base or layering it on top. I already own quite a number of glow bases but the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is one of the best ones I’ve used. It’s very pigmented but is easy to blend. It melts into the skin and layers well with liquid foundation. For me it has the perfect amount of glow to be noticeable without looking harsh. Texture is just perfect for my combination skin to last all day without getting too dewy looking.

There are seven shades total and each one has a really pretty glow to them. Her website has shade recommendations according to her Light Wonder and Magic Foundation shades. I’d recommend sticking with the shade recs there. I’ve always been in between colors for her foundation varying between 5 (a bit too peachy), 6 (a bit too olive) and 7 (perfect undertone but a bit too deep). I usually mix 7 with 6. The Flawless Filters come with a sponge tip applicator. With this you can wear:

  • As a primer under foundation
  • Mixed in with foundation
  • Or on top of foundation

I like it mixed in or on top. To mix I simply swipe on a few stripes on the face and dot in foundation on the forehead, cheeks and chin. I then blend out with a beautyblender sponge. The other way I’ve applied it is on top of blended foundation like you’d apply a brightening concealer or highlighter. Then blend with a sponge. Many of you have mentioned liquid highlighters tend to disrupt the foundation underneath. This one stays put and blends in with the base without wiping it away.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter All Shades vs Wonder Glow and Brightening Youth Glow

My best matches in the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is Shade 4 or Shade 5. I’ve experimented with both and there’s a pretty big gap. I’m on the lighter side right now so 4 works best. I’ve also found Shade 2 or 3 work to lighten some foundation shades that are a bit too deep for me because they’re my summer color. I did try to use the deeper options as a contour and for my skintone they are really too warm to use. The nice thing about this product is you don’t need an exact match as it’s intended to add glow to the complexion not cover up the skin like foundation.

Swatches next to the Wonder Glow and Brightening Youth Glow. Both of these are a lot sheerer in color and thinner in texture. The Wonder Glow has a beautiful golden yellow undertone which I have loved for years. The Brightening Youth Glow is more opalescent with a pearly glow. It’s also sheer and similar in concept to MAC Strobe Cream. The main difference is formula and color. MAC has more of an iridescent sheen and comes in different flashes of color. The Charlotte Tilbury is more of a natural flesh-toned shimmer. Applying all over does some slight color correcting in the brightening sense but in a very sheer natural way.

Bottom line love. I love these mixed in with foundation or layered on top. I’ve tried this with a variety of bases including the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, Dior Fiorever Foundation, Dior Forever Undercover, YSL Touche Eclat Glow, La Prairie Skin Caviar and found it compatible with all the formulas I tried. I like that the Flawless Filter has no detectable scent, has a dewy finish that doesn’t get greasy and has a beautiful glow. Quick note that a little goes a long way. The formula is very opaque and if you find you look too dewy or glowy then you’ve applied too much. I found there was a slight learning curve to getting just the right amount of glow. I think less is definitely more with this unless you want a real intense shimmer. I do wish there were a few more shades options. To me 1 and 2 look really similar but if you’re on the fair end of the color spectrum I suspect you will see more of a difference. I see a pretty big gap between 4 and 5 but I should be able to make them work with mixing for me once I get my tan back.

Overall I highly recommend these and think it’s definitely worth a look. They truly make the skin glow in a radiant way where you can control how much glow you have. You can definitely get a similar effect with other liquid luminizers but I feel like this formula works best for my skintype. So many other liquid highlighters tend to be a lot more shimmery or get dewy-looking very quick. This one has the right balance for me.

You can find these at all Charlotte Tilbury counters and retailers. Mine are from Charlotte Tilbury and Nordstrom.
