Best Beauty Discoveries and Highlights of 2014

December 29, 2014

2014 has been a very exciting year and I feel incredibly blessed in so many ways. I am grateful for each and every one of my readers. Without your passion for all things beauty this blog would not be a possibility for me to keep up. Each week I am touched by the kindness some of you have shown through e-mail and comments. I think the internet and social media is amazing with the way it enables us to connect with each other across the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for following me through this blog 🙂

I have a roundup of beauty highlights in 2014. There have been so many great beauty releases and innovations this year. I think the holiday sets this season were the best ones I’ve seen to date. I’ve linked previous reviews of my favorite beauty discoveries for 2014 below. Please let me know what your top beauty discoveries were as well, I’d love to hear what your favorite picks were!
This year marked the year for a number of brand launches and store openings. New beauty brand launches in the US that I was really excited about included Gucci Beauty and Charlotte Tilbury. A number of brands added new stores and boutiques. Diptyque on Larchmont opened in Los Angeles. In Venice Beach Caudalie and Hourglass Cosmetics opened up boutiques. Another highlight for me was finally visiting the NARS Boutique on Melrose (although it opened a few years ago).

Additional highlights include a couple special features for The Beauty Look Book. In January I was really excited to be featured on Barneys New York – The Window. In March of this year I was beyond thrilled to discover that InstyleUK included me in their Top 50 Websites (thank you!!).

The best thing for me this year though was being able to connect with some bloggers and YouTubers in person (in beauty and fashion). Meeting them was incredibly inspiring. There are few things that give me that warm fuzzy feeling like seeing women support other women and I value their friendship, advice, encouragement and positive outlook on life.

What were your top beauty discoveries this year?

The Dior lip baumes, Becca cream blushes, Tom Ford Nude Dip palette, Tom Ford Coral Beach nail polish and Bobbi Brown Raw Sugar nail polish were highlights for me.

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:43 am

Aaah, Nude Dip is a beauty. It was hard for me to decide between that one, Chanel and Urban Decay.

  • Amanda Hollingsworth December 30, 2014 at 6:55 pm

My choices include: Tom Ford Nude Dip Eye Quad, Anastasia Beverley Hills Pro Series Contour Kit, Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi Quadra Eyeshadow Tisse Poésie (234), Chanel Dentelle Precieuse & Camélia De Plumes Highlighting Powders, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush and Ambient Lighting Palette, Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil, Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara in Black. My star product of the year was Christian Louboutin Nail Polish.

Blog post of the year must go to Sabrina at The BeautyLookBook for Christian Louboutin 'The Nudes'. Sabrina I consider your blog to be the finest blog out there. I trust it, I trust you and I love your presentation. You have real class and style. Your Christian Louboutin 'Nudes' post was breathtaking and the most beautiful post I have seen all year and that includes the glossies (Vogue, Harpers etc). A stunning visual treat that left me desperate for you to do the same with 'The Noirs' and 'The Pops'. I am certain Monsieur Louboutin himself would have loved your work with that post. Many congratulations on the continued sucess and development of your blog. Personally I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2015. Xx

Thank you Amanda for your kind words. You just made my entire week. I am really happy that you love the Louboutin Nail polishes so much. Raves like yours made me so much more at ease about buying them sight unseen. I have a few of the Noirs and Pops, I have considered doing a post about the ones I own soon. I would love to write a feature on all the shades but that would make a hefty dent in my wallet!

Thank you again Amanda for your support and kind words. It means a lot to me 🙂

    Happy New Year Sabrina.
