Today I have my Best of Beauty Roundup for 2017 with my makeup favorites of the year. I feel like I always say this but I cannot believe another year has flown by! Beauty, skincare and fragrance testing has been a challenging process as we transitioned from the mild climate of San Diego to humidity and different water conditions in South Florida. Many things that worked for me in California suddenly didn’t work the same way for me once I landed in Florida. With seasonal changes I had to switch things up in skincare but the good news is for makeup most everything still worked for me. My best of beauty for makeup this year includes my top picks of the year with a mix of old and new launches. Items that were press samples have a * next to them. - Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Nude Dip – one that has remained a classic staple for years, also among the few I’ve hit pan on before and repurchased (original review and swatches here)
- Chanel Les 4 Ombres in City Lights – best neutral with shimmer discovery this year, it was limited-edition and may be hard to find now, a close more neutral option is Tisse Rivoli (swatches here)
- Diorshow Brow Styler in Universal Brown – most natural easy to wear pencil that’s pretty much goof-proof, it’s pretty much the one I’ve worn in most of my beauty looks on this blog
- Tom Ford Fiber Brow Gel * – favorite brow gel that adds definition, fills in sparse areas naturally and lasts all day (review here)
- L’Oreal Lash Paradise in Waterproof Blackest Black – best mascara of the year that holds the curl, doesn’t smudge, stays put all day and actually makes my wimpy lashes visible (review here)
- Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope in Flash Phenomenon – best glowy eyeshadow palette of the year (swatches here)

- Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick * – one I love the formula of even though I still think they are insanely overpriced for the amount of product you get, color and finish is phenomenal (swatches here and here)
- Louboutin Metalinudes Loubilaque * – best shimmery high shine gloss for my lip gloss loving self (swatches here)
- Sisley Phyto-Lip Twist in Baby – best tinted balm discovery, I’ve since added more colors to my collection and will try to review/swatch soon (swatch of Baby here)
- Tom Ford Lips and Boys in Bradley – best nude lip color of the year and one I repurchased (swatched on lips here)
- MAC Lipglass from the Nicki Minaj Collection in N-U-D-E and Under the Sheets * – both were limited edition so if you can’t find them I’d recommend you check out Love Nectar or Oyster Girl for similar shades
- Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss in Tendresse 172 (swatches here) – best rosy tinted gloss, one Andrew told me looked good whenever I wore it!

The lightest is too pink and the second lightest is too dark for me. I make it work though. 2. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush “Exposed” – oh, boy was I late to this! Perfect blush color and formula for me. I have reached for it almost every time I wear blush! 3. Urban Decay “Sidecare” eyeshadow – technically this is in my Naked 1 palette, but I don’t want to count the whole palette as a favorite, just this eyeshadow. It does have some fallout, but I wet my brush to minimize. This shade is gorgeous all over the lid and blended into the crease. It’s perfect for an easy look that still makes me look put together. 4. Dior Diorshow Mascara – I have always been the type of person that thought high end mascaras were not worth the price until I tried this one! One coat and my lashes look natural, but lifted and fuller. Two coats and my lashes still look natural, but INCREDIBLE. Holy grail for sure. 5. Essence Pure Nude highlight – technically I didn’t discover this in 2017, but it was my favorite highlighter for the year. I reached for it the most because it was so natural looking, but also incredibly beautiful. I got compliments every time I wore this.
Still have yet to take the plunge for the TF quads but this post may send me there.

I kee eyeing that Chanel City Lights palette (still see it in a few stores here), but I have Poesie and Tisse Rivoli, (both which I adore), so I can’t justify… But I did get another limited one, from the Spring collection I think – it had different enough colours. 🙂 i really enjoy these new formulations, didn’t care soo much for the old European baked versions we used to get here.

My favorite type of posts! It’s hard to choose lip favorites for me as I sometimes feel like too many are good and they are too different to compare. My favorite bronzer is the one from filmstar palette Charlotte Tilbury and my absolutely favorite blush is Max Factor Nude Mauve. I got Houglass Mood exposure with a hope it will be the fancy version of Nude mauve but it turns so different on skin. It turns coral instead of mauvie natural looking shade and I read it looks coral on lots of people. So while the blush is good it’s a bit disappointing as shade changes on skin so much:/

For Australian readers of this blog – I also love the Nude by Nature BB Creme in porcelain and their Airbrush Primer as well as Natio’s Blush/Highlighter in Sunkissed. Natio’s Golden Eyeshadow palette is pretty good value for under $20Aud. too.

3.Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Diamond Dust – its just so sparkly.
4.LipStick Queen matte lip gloss in Honest Politician (not new to the world, but new to me and it’s great as blush too and I love a cream product)
5.and… L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara, it doesn’t seem to budge, holds a curl a little even though it isn’t waterproof and it’s pretty easy to remove… where some of my other mascaras feel like they need a few goes…. it’s a little clumpish – but I kind of like that so it works for me!
Nude Dip is one of my all time favourite quads too. I’ve barely worn any make-up this year, but newly discovered favs include Glossier Cloud Paint, Charlotte Tilbury kohl eyeliner and the Burberry brow stylo.

My 2017 discovery was LaMer foundation in Linen. Matches perfectly and the finish is amazing! My other favorites were Armani Luminesse CC Cream, Dior loose powder and Chantecaille lipstick in Bourbon Rose. I am planning on trying the YSL 24 Hour foundation and primer in 2018. Oh, and I have to add that I LOVE By the Fireplace by MMM Replica for discovered fragrance!

My top 5 makeup products for 2017 would be: FENTY BEAUTY Pro Filt’r Soft Matte foundation, L’OREAL Lash Paradise mascara, MARC JACOBS The Wild One eyeshadow palette, LAURA MERCIER Translucent Loose Setting Powder in the new shade Medium Deep, and TOO FACED Better Than Sex mascara.
I looooooove Marc Jacobs Slow Burn, too! I use the matte version and it looks so good.
I also love Becca Champagne Pop for highlighter, RCMA no color powder for setting powder, Diorshow Brow Styler (so easy to use and stays forever!), and MAC Let’s Skate paint pot (discontinued, so sad)
Chanel Road Movie quad, Chanel Le Volume mascara in Noir, Chanel Coco Codes blush palette, Chanel Codes subtils quad, and Rouge Coco Shine in Noir Moderne were my favorite discoveries this year.
