Best Makeup Sephora Sale Spring

In today’s post I’ve included the best primers, foundations, concealers and setting products. These are the staples I always go back to for my everyday makeup look.

Primers

Best Primers Tatcha and Bobbi Brown

I like to keep my base as lightweight as possible so my skin can breathe and often look for multi-taskers. The Bobbi Brown Enriched Face Base Priming Moisturizer is my go-to for a primer + moisturizer in one. It works well with a wide range of foundation formulas. Can’t rave enough about it!

Also love the Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas which a lighter version of their classic Silk Canvas. The Liquid Silk Canvas is the one I prefer, it makes the skin look smooth and minimizes my pores. Foundation adheres well to the skin with this one!

Foundation

Best Foundations Fenty, Armani, NARS, Charlotte Tilbury

My most-used foundation is the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It’s the best one for natural medium coverage with the perfect glow. It has enough pigment to even out the skin and just the right amount of luminosity!

For a lightweight base the Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint is another favorite. It’s what I would want in a tinted moisturizer but with a little more pigment and not as dewy (which is perfect for me). If you’re looking for a nice everyday base for spring to summer with light coverage but enough to smooth out the skin, check this one out. Wearing Shade 10 below.

Fenty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint Shade 10

Two new foundations I’ve been loving this year are the NARS Light Reflecting Advanced Skincare Foundation and the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation. Both have a skincare component to the formula. The NARS offers a bit more coverage on my skin, but both are really beautiful formulas I’ve used a lot this year.

Highlighters / Bronzer

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Bronzing Drops and Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

To enhance the complexion the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is hands down the best product I’ve tried. I own this in multiple shades but use Shade 3 and 4.5 the most (also available in travel-sized minis). It’s a versatile multi-tasker you can use under foundation to add a glow or as a subtle highlighter on the cheekbones or anywhere you want a highlight.

The Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Bronzing Drops are essential in my routine for a truly natural bronzed look. I mix it in with my foundation to add a little warmth and glow.

Concealer

Best Concealers NARS, Dior, YSL

For concealing, if I had to use one the rest of my life it would be the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I’ve used this for years (my match is Ginger) and it’s the best creamy under eye brightener that blends well, looks natural and lasts all day.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Ginger

The second runner up would be the YSL Touche Eclat Brightening Concealer (I use Shade 3 and 4.5). For more coverage the Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer (I use 2.5N) is a staple.

To set you can use your regular loose or pressed powder, but I also really love the Pat McGrath Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Setting Powder to lock concealer and other cream products under the eye into place.

Powder / Setting

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder

Last I have a roundup of my top setting products. I always set my cream base with a powder to help extend the wear and set everything. The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder is the best blurring setting pressed powder I’ve tried! I’ve gone through so many of these.

I also love the NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder. It’s like magic on the skin for me! Blurs pores, smooths skin while being completely transparent. They have it in a translucent shade but it’s also available in tinted options as well.

For loose powder it doesn’t get more classic than the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I alternate between the Translucent shade or Honey.

To set makeup or refresh my look the two best setting sprays I’ve used are the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray and Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. Both help give the skin a refreshed set look – so it’s not too powdery looking.

Best Setting Powders and Sprays at Sephora

You can find all of my favorites and staples at Sephora during the Spring Savings Event. It’s a great time to restock your staples or try something new! If you’re looking for a good base to try I hope you found this roundup helpful!

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait Review

March 30, 2022

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait

Chanel launched their new Rouge Allure L’Extrait ($55 each) which is their first refillable lipstick ($40 for the refills). I saw the collection earlier this month in Miami and hauled 6 of the 20 colors in the new launch. The Chanel team also sent a selection of colors so I had a few more bolds to share! They are available now online at Chanel.com.

A closer look in one of their beauty boutiques in the Brickell City Center below!

The Rouge Allure L’Extrait is one of the best high-pigment lipsticks I’ve tried. They are ultra creamy, smooth one swipe wonders with a comfortable hydrating feel. Formula adheres nicely to the lips (almost hugs them!) and stays put remarkably well. No bleeding, sliding, creeping!

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait review

These come in a slim black case with the pop up end. They are tiny for the price and since these are refillable the cases aren’t labeled on the bottom. If you have more than one you will have to pop open each lipstick to check the shade. The shade names are in tiny print on the gold tube casing which is hidden once you insert it into the base.

You do need the full case to use the lipstick. There is a click component in the base of the refill portion that allows you to twist it up. Without it you cannot twist up the lipstick.

There are two neutral colors, a few pinks and a wide range of reds, orange shades and bolds. For the red lipstick lover you will really love this launch because they’ve thought of every variation, brightness and undertone of red! For the neutral lip lover (like me) you will still find a couple of nice lighter options. I hope they add more neutrals!

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait review

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait swatches

Colors I have:

  • 812 Beige Brut is a perfect flawless beige
  • 814 Beige Imperieux is a medium coral peach
  • 818 Rose Independant is a pretty rose pink
  • 822 Rose Supreme is a medium cool rose
  • 824 Rose Invincible is a deeper rose pink
  • 828 Brun Orgueilleux is a plum brown
  • 832 Rouge Libre is a blue red
  • 862 Brun Affirm is a brown pink red

Below swatches on the lips below! Quick note that most reds look REALLY red on my complexion. Also wearing:

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 812 Beige Brut

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 814 Beige Imperieux

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 818 Rose Independant

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 822 Rose Supreme

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 828 Brun Orgueilleux

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 832 Rouge Libre

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait 862 Brun Affirm

Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait

My favorites of course are 812 and 814. I’ve already made a sizeable dent in 812 so I’m happy to have a refill on hand! Sunglasses featured are the Butterfly Sunglasses style. They were quite a splurge but I love them! You can see them in action in my Reel here too.

You can find the Chanel Rouge Allure L’Extrait available now online at Chanel.com. Have you tried these yet? What did you think?

Diptyque Do Son Collection for Spring 2022

March 24, 2022

Diptyque Do Son Collection Spring 2022

Diptyque just launched their limited-edition Do Son Collection featuring their Do Son scent in beautiful special turquoise packaging. The Do Son Eau de Toilette is one of my favorite scents from the line with a beautiful mix of Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Marine Accord. I own it in multiple formats like the perfume, hand cream, and hair mist!

This spring’s limited-edition collection has Do Son in multiple variations, size options and sets. The packaging is stunning in the most beautiful shade of turquoise blue!

The Do Son Eau de Toilette and Hand Cream come in a Boxed Set ($120) with a travel sized perfume and full size hand cream. Both are also available for purchase individually ($45 for the hand cream, $75 for the 30 ml Eau de Toilette). I love the smaller sizes which makes them perfect for travel or the purse!

Eau de Toilette

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Toilette

The Do Son Eau de Toilette ($150) is available in the 100 ml size which has a nice lovely lightweight floral + marine accord mix. It’s not too strong on the tuberose which I actually love. To me it’s a unique floral that isn’t too flowery. Lasting power is medium on me.

Eau de Parfum

Diptyque Do Son Eau de Parfum

I tried the Do Son Eau de Parfum ($190, for 75 ml) for the first time a few weeks ago in the Diptyque store in Miami. I almost always prefer the EDT format for scents when both the EDT and EDP formulas are available. I was pleasantly surprised by the Eau de Parfum! It’s stronger on the tuberose notes. It has a mix of Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Amber Wood. It’s richer in feel with stronger floral notes. It’s hard to pick a favorite but now that I’ve tried the parfum, I think I like it more!

Tubereuse Candle

Diptyque Tubereuse Candle

Diptyque’s version of the candle is Tubereuse ($78). I love this one for a lovely fresh and green kind of floral. The turquoise glass jar is so beautiful, it brings life to my home office with the color!

Coffee Table Book

Diptyque Do Son Coffee Table Book

Diptyque has launched another book! The Do Son Coffee Table Book ($120) is a large sized book with photographs and illustrations inspired by the Do Son universe. As the ultimate Diptyque collector I bought it the minute it launched online (along with a couple other things). A week later I received a package from the Diptyque team with the full collection so now I have one for my office and one for our coffee table!

You can find the Diptyque Do Son Collection out now at Diptyque. I recommend checking their Special Offers page to find the latest gift with purchase offer they have. They usually send alerts if you’re subscribed to their newsletter (which I am). Their free-standing boutiques often have lovely seasonal gifts and extras as well. Also available at other retailers like Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-A-Porter and all other Diptyque retailers.

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Review

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Review

I’m excited to share a look at the Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipsticks today! I’m late to review these as I picked these up over a month ago. We’ve been traveling so I’m a bit behind on reviews! These are limited-edition colors for spring but they’re still in stock at Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Hermes. They are very steep in price at $72 each but I think the colors and formula are so good, I feel they were worth the splurge for me.

These are translucent lip colors with a glossy finish. The color payoff is exceptional for something that has a translucent finish. They’re pigmented but balmy and glossy with a slight transparent quality to them. The colors were inspired by a garden filled with light and water and I couldn’t have described them better!

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Review

There are three colors:

  • Beige d’Eau is a sheer beige but still shows up as alight peachy beige on my lips
  • Orange Capucine is my new favorite bright coral orange, bright but wearable
  • Rose Nymphea is a gorgeous bright cool pink lilac, surprisingly wearable on my olive complexion even though it’s more cool-toned

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Review

Makeup worn:

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Beige d'Eau

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Orange Capucine

Rouge Hermes Shiny Lipstick Rose Nymphea

Texture is smooth and glossy. They have an almost balm-like feel. The colors are flawless and bring the complexion to life! I love that they’re bright but not too bright. These make for a nice change from my everyday neutrals. If you can splurge I highly recommend these for both color and quality.

Also wanted to share a look at three of my favorite Hermes Nail Enamels ($45 each). These still are harder to find. They keep selling out on multiple sites but will pop back on every now and then. Sometimes Saks will allow you to pre-order online (how I got several of the colors). Some shades also available now at Bloomingdale’s.

Hermes Nail Polish Rose Horizon, Orange Poppy and Rose Incarnat

I’ve been asked if these are “worth the price” and I still don’t think any nail polish is worth $45. I do love the formula, I think the colors are perfect and really flattering. I have no regrets with my splurges.

  • Rose Horizon is the perfect mix of pink and coral
  • Orange Poppy is a bright vibrant orange
  • Rose Incarnat is a bright pink

Formula has great lasting power (no chips or peeling). I can get 7 days of wear without any chips or tip wear although some sunscreens completely ruin my polish (top coat and all) so I don’t always get to wear it for a full week. I’ve had Orange Poppy on my toes for nearly 3 weeks now and it’s held up remarkably well.

Beauty Essentials to Pack For Your Next Vacation

March 14, 2022

Vacation Makeup Essentials

We’re back from another week in Miami and we had such a great time in the sunshine! Today I’m sharing my vacation makeup essentials featuring favorites from Nordstrom. They carry most of my go-to brands and beauty staples. I love browsing their New Beauty Launches on a weekly basis for the latest!

Stephanie Johnson Miami Makeup Bags

I’m always on the hunt for cute functional makeup bags to take on travel. Stephanie Johnson has some really cute options and I bought the Miami Palm Medium Makeup Bag ($35) and the Zip Around Medium Makeup Bag ($40). (There’s also a Jumbo Size available too).

The zip around case is the perfect size for essentials. Quality is great and they have other prints available too. The flat one is also nice and perfect to hold beach essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, perfume etc. I love the sleek and streamlined design. Also love being able to see inside through the sides since the material is slightly see-through.

Base Essentials

Vacation Makeup Essentials

My go-to vacation base combination is the Chanel CC Cream with SPF 50 ($55, I wear 40 Beige), YSL Touche Eclat All-Over Concealer Pen ($38, I wear Shade 3 or 4.5) and the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Filter Powder ($45, Shade Medium is my match). My base rotates depending on season and weather but time after time I keep going back to these 3 staples.

I love the Chanel CC Cream because it has the perfect texture and coverage (I blend it with a sponge) and has a high SPF. It’s one that lasts all day and looks good in photos.

The YSL Touche Eclat ($38) is a nice brightener for under the eyes and works to conceal redness around my nose. I use the classic Touche Eclat most of the time, but they also have a Touche Eclat High Cover version ($38). It has more coverage and in my experience it’s just as good, just more pigmented.

Pressed powders are always the way to go for for travel. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Pressed Powder ($45) in Medium to set, blur and smooth the skin. Two other favorites for blurring powders are the Chantecaille Blur Finishing Powder ($79) or Sisley Blur Expert ($105). Expensive but worth the splurge!

Best Makeup Bases: Charlotte Tilbury, YSL and Chanel

Bronzer, Blush, Highlight

I love trying new bronzers each season. My go-to bronzer of the moment is the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Powder in Deep ($58). Anytime someone asks what bronzer I’m wearing it’s this one! For my no-fuss natural looking blush I love the NARS Orgasm Blush ($30) for a pretty flattering soft peachy pink with gold shimmer. The Tom Ford Soleil Highlighting Duo in Reflects Gilt ($89) has been a long-time staple I really love too. I also use this on the eyes sometimes!

NARS Orgasm Blush

Vacation Makeup Essentials Chanel Les Beiges, NARS Orgasm, Tom Ford Reflects Gilt

Eye Makeup Favorites

For the eyes I think the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Crème in Tiger Eye ($89) is the perfect palette for a pretty vacation eye look. I brought 3 eye palettes with me on my trip and this was the easiest to use for a quick eye look. My current favorite eyeliners are the Sisley Phyto-Khol Star ($62) in Sparkling Bronze and Black. They have lots of colors and the formula stays put all day (also available in a Matte Version). I always pack the Tom Ford Eye Defining Liquid Pen ($59) for a liquid liner. My favorite mascara right now is the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl ($29.50).

Eye Makeup Favorites

Lip Favorites

Spring to Summer Lip Favorites

For lips I tend to pack way too many lip products even though I usually use 1-2 shades on vacation! I’m all about the shine lipsticks and absolutely love the Sisley Phyto-Rouge Shine ($60) for a hydrating lipstick with a glossy finish. Dior just launched their new Addict Shine Refillable Lipstick ($39) and they have so many good colors. I picked up a few of the neutrals and immediately fell in love with their classic Nude Look 100. They also have a few Couture Cases in Silver, Denim and Pink available separately. You can interchange them which is super cute and fun! (Haul + review on what I picked soon.)

The NARS Afterglow Lip Shine in Orgasm ($26) offers the smoothest finish I’ve tried for a gloss with a pretty peachy pink shine. Love pairing this with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Pencil ($18) in Sun Baked.

Spring to Summer Lip Favorites

Sunscreen, Perfume, Hair

Vacation Perfume and Sunscreen favorites

I’m currently testing several new sunscreen formulas and will have a roundup soon. The one I liked the best during my trip was the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion ($49). It has a clear transparent finish (no white cast), has a good dry down, blends in easily and has the longest lasting power on me. It’s easy to reapply without feeling goopy or thick.

My go-to vacation perfume is the Chanel Les Eaux de Chanel in Paris-Riviera ($90 to $140). I have this in both the travel and full size. It’s my most-worn scent these days and it’s Andrew’s favorite on me! I also adore the Tom Ford Soleil Blanc in the Shimmering Body Oil (love the mini sized duo).

I’ve started to get into scrunchies for hair accessories and splurged on this chic Saint Lauren Bandana Scrunchie. Spendy but I love it. Lots of other cute Hair Accessories at Nordstrom that are more affordable in hair clips, scrunchies, scarfs and more.

For hair styling products I found the dpHUE Color Fresh Leave-In Conditioner ($28) to be the best multi-tasker for me. It worked to detangle, condition and smooth the hair while doubling as a good heat protectant for my hair dryer.

Recent Hits and Misses

Beauty Hits and Misses

Sharing a roundup of some recent beauty hits and misses from things I’ve been trying lately! I rediscovered some older favorites on my recent trip and also put some new beauty buys to the test. Thought it would be fun to share them with you!

I used the Chanel CC Cream the entire week we were in Miami. I’ve loved it for years (original review here)! It has high SPF and great natural looking coverage. Love that it lasts all day on me and evens out the skin nicely. It’s one I keep going back to even though I try to rotate and incorporate other formulas into my routine. I love it. Highly recommend.

Chanel CC Cream 40 Beige

For the complexion I repurchased a few of the NARS Liquid Blushes (original review here, time flies!). I’ve been loving the Liquid Blush in Orgasm and it’s just as good as I remember. These work well alone or layered under a powder blush. Pigment is excellent and easy to blend. A little goes a long way.

Bronzer-wise I have been loving the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Powder in Medium-Deep or Deep for a subtle luminous glow. Since these powders are more skin-tone colored (versus a cool or warm bronzer) I find them really natural on the skin. You won’t see any greyish or orangey undertone. Color is natural and buildable. They have a very subtle luminosity to them which makes the skin glow without any harsh shimmer.

Chanel Les Beiges Deep and NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

For the lips I’ve been loving the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm* (available at Naturium and Target). These come in a clear option and tinted versions as well. I brought the clear with me on my trip and love the thick lush formula. It has a really nice cooling tip applicator (similar to the Hourglass Lip Oils). It’s hydrating, comfortable and smooth.

Naturium Lip Balm, ABH Peach Bud, Sisley Sheer Blossom

Also obsessed with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liner in Sun Baked + Lipstick in Peach Bud combo for the perfect medium peachy lip (swatches here). I just reviewed the new Sisley Phyto Rouge Shine and my favorites are Sheer Blossom and Petal. In case you missed it you can see them in action on my latest Reel too!

Another lip combo I’ve been loving is the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Color in Bloom (new shade at Tarte) on top of the Makeup By Mario Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip Pencil in Johnny. The lip pencil is the perfect medium pink rose color I feel like I’ve been searching for my whole life. It’s close to my natural lip color just a little more pink. Topping it with any light pink color gives the perfect juicy glossy pink lip.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip in Bloom and Makeup by Mario Lip Pencil in Johnny

The eyeshadow palette that has been getting me the most compliments lately is the Tarte Leave Your Mark Eyeshadow Palette. It’s a nice one for any beachy vacation! Or even for everyday wear. It’s a softer glowy and less glitzy version of the Patrick TA Major Dimension Palette (at least in my eyes). Colors are soft and easy to layer. I think they’re no-fuss colors for a good eye look. (I just ordered the Leave Your Mark VII which is deeper and peachier.)

Tarte Leave Your Mark Eyeshadow Palette

I tried Skylar perfumes at Sephora while on my trip and really fell in love with a few of them, in particular Salt Air and the Vanilla Sky. I decided to buy the Discovery Sampler Set first before committing to one. They’re fresh and clean smelling. I am definitely buying Salt Air. Trying to decide on one more too.

Skylar Perfume Discovery Set

I’ve been searching for a more affordable body wash that I really love. All the ones I like tend to be on the spendy side. Naturium sent a package of skincare for me to try and I’ve been really loving all of their body washes. Still working my way through the different formulas but my favorite is the Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash*. It’s an oil-to-gel formula with a decent lather and hydrating formula. It’s nicely moisturizing but doesn’t leave any film or residue on the skin like a lot of hydrating body washes. A solid win and I’m 100% repurchasing this when it’s used up.

Naturium Glow Getter Body Wash and Oribe Hair Alchemy

Still loving the Oribe Hair Alchemy* line for their Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner. I brought these with me on my vacation and even though it took up extra space it was 100% worth bringing.

A hair care line that just popped on my radar is Michael Van Clarke. It’s one that’s new to me and I have fallen head over heels in love with their No 1 Brush*. It truly is a game changer for brushing and smoothing the hair. It has different levels/sizes of flexible nylon bristles within the brush to detangle, fluff and brush out the hair smoothly. I want the travel size for my purse or for travel too. You can find it online at their website Michael Van Clarke.

I splurged on a Celine Comb at the Miami Design District. It was crazy expensive but I love it. It’s so chic! Full Celine haul on reels too.

Beauty Misses Makeup By Mario, Sol de Janeiro, Glow Recipe

Last we have some misses for me. I tried some new things at Sephora, all of which had mixed reviews. Makeup by Mario launched new Ultra Suede Cozy Lip Cremes and I bought two shades he launched first (new ones were just added today). I have Nude Suede and Pinky Brown. Formula is ok, I would say it’s true to the description. Whipped matte lips often are challenging for me because the colors look dusty and lifeless on me. Colors were a fail on my lip and skin tone. There’s not enough warmth in these two shades so I look like a corpse with these. I don’t think I’ll check out the other colors.

I also had high hopes for the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Glossy Nourishing Anti-Frizz Hair Oil as I’m a huge fan of the scent and have loved everything from the line. The formula is ultra thick, almost goopy. I showed a preview on stories and dozens of you messaged me saying it was a miss. It is indeed VERY thick and heavy. Even one tiny drop is thick – I had to wipe off most of the excess on a paper towel before applying to my hair. A review at Sephora describes it like olive oil for the hair and I think that description is spot on. I did try it and it worked well on my hair. But the consistency and fact that I have to wipe off product on a paper towel makes it too high maintenance for me to be willing to use. So this is a miss for me too.

Last miss for me is sadly the new Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinimide Sunscreen with SPF 50. I had such high hopes for this one! The packaging is excellent and I love the dispenser at the tip. I tried this on bare skin and also on top of one of the Glow Recipe serums. I really wanted to love it but it pilled like crazy as I blended it into the skin. Some areas I was able to blend it in, but I had patches of white peeling product on different areas. Even after I tried to fix it Andrew told me it looked terrible and that I should wash my face immediately. Was really sad about it because the texture felt nice, scent wasn’t too strong and my face actually felt nice. But the pilling is a major deal breaker. This one is going back.

That wraps up my recent beauty hits and misses! We just got back from our Miami trip so I will be getting back to work ASAP! I have lots to share with you in the next week.

What have you been loving lately? Any misses for you?

Press samples have a * next to them. All others purchased by me.
