This holiday season Chanel has launched their classic No. 5 Eau de Parfum ($160 for 3.4 fl oz/ 100 ml) and No. 5 L’Eau ($160 for 3.4 fl oz/ 100 ml) in limited-edition red bottles. Right now Chanel.com has the early exclusive until November 1, 2018. It will be available online and at select boutiques from November 2, 2018 to December 31, 2018. I’ve been a fan of the L’eau version for a light powdery floral. It had been a long time since I tested the original No. 5 Chanel and was thrilled for a chance to try it from Chanel. The bottle is a deep red in the classic glass shape. Depending on how much light hits the bottle you’ll see different intensities of red color and I think it’s just beautiful!
Wearing Rouge Puissant on the nails.
Chanel describes the No. 5 Eau de Parum as an “unprecedented use of aldehydes, which add layers of complexity, N°5 was the world’s first abstract fragrance. The Eau de Parfum draws inspiration from the Parfum, sharing its floral aldehyde signature. This floral bouquet composed around May Rose and Jasmine features bright citrus top notes. Aldehydes create a unique presence while the smooth touch of Bourbon Vanilla leaves an incredibly sensual trail.”
I think most of you are familiar with this scent, it’s a classic! I smell rose, jasmin and a hint of powdery florals mixed in. They list vanilla as one of the notes but I cannot detect it. It’s ultra feminine and has very long lasting power. By comparison the No 5 L’Eau is lighter, brighter and does not last as long, with perfumes it’s something I don’t mind as I love to reapply, I often keep minis on hand with me.
It’s a classic for sure. Floral, feminine and has a soft powdery feel. If you like the L’Eau version better it also comes in the limited-edition red bottle for the holiday season.
The Chanel No 5 and No 5 L’Eau are available exclusively at CHANEL.com from now until November 1, 2018. Available online and at select boutiques from November 2, 2018 to December 31, 2018. Retail price for each is $160 for 3.4 fl oz/ 100 ml. In the post I’m also wearing Le Vernis in Rouge Puissant (reviewed here) and Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in #116 Extreme (swatched here).
Have you tried this one before? What’s your classic perfume scent? I always love reading about your favorites, let me know in the comments.

This bottle is beautiful!
How gorgeous is this bottle!
Breathtaking photographs! what a lovely post. Your lips and nails add the perfect punctuation to this post. I adore the Chanel fragrances. My top favorites are Eau Premiere, L’Eau, No. 19, No.22. No. 5 brings back good memories and is one I will always go back to when the mood strikes.
How outrageous! This red bottle is the usual 3.4 ounces yet pricey at $160. Is it worth it for the red bottle? Hardly. More: You can shell out $30,000–yup, $30k—for the 30-ouncer red bottle. Chanel is a joke.
Wow, the design is gorgeous!

Wow, your photos are so stunning! What a beautiful holiday edition! I’m a bit sad they didn’t do Eau Premiere in the red glass, as that’s my favorite iteration of No. 5. Maybe I will have to try L’Eau. Truthfully though, I’m a Guerlain girl when it comes to classic fragrances and my favorites are Jicky and L’Heure Bleue. Around the holidays I’m a huge huge fan of Serge Lutens Fille en Aguilles (just pulled it out for the season yesterday!) and Ambre Sultan, Tauer Phi Une Rose de Kandahar, L’Artisan Tea for Two and Histoires de Parfum Ambre 114.
My classic was Mitsouko, but they changed the formula and now it doesn’t smell good at all. I am disconsolate!
If I had $160 I would get this just for nostalgia’s sake, but that’s gonna have to go to student loans and medical bills so maybe there will be a different LE situation that’s as good next year.
I like SISLEY EAU DU SOIR, BOTTEGA VENETA (the 1st one), FREDERICK MALLE BIGARADE INTENSE + COLOGNE INDELEBILE and for every day ESCENTRIC MOLLECULES N01 (both escentric and mollecules) and JO MALONE (grapefruit and many others)
I love Chanel madamosille.. my all time fav ..as much as I love no 5, it doesn’t last on my skin beyond a few hours..
I’m a fan of perfumes. Chanel occupies a special place in my collection. Coco Mademoiselle was my favorite a few years ago. I like Chanel N ° 5 Eau Premiere and Coco Noir as well. I have Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, Chance Eau Tendre and Chance Eau Vive at the moment. Would like to try this new Chanel No 5 too.
I always have No. 5 edt, edp and parfum on hand and it’s always “right” no matter the season. My fave Chanel frag, however, is Bois de Iles and I wear the parfum for its late-fall evocation of rustling leaves and woods with a trail of spice.
I live for blood red, so this bottle got my attention immediately. However, my scent taste leans more towards Tom Ford’s Oud Wood.
One of my favourite Christmas traditions is gifting myself and my family something red … this year I bought myself this Chanel L’Eau special edition perfume and I couldn’t be happier!
