Loving Right Now

Right now I’m really loving the Burberry Beauty Complete Eye Palette Quads. I’ve tested three so far … eventually I think I will need one of each shade. (They are really that good.) What I’m loving even more is what beauty bloggers have done for those of us who don’t have easy access to those hard-to-find brands. Burberry Beauty still has limited availability in the US in terms of being at your nearest counter to try-before-you-buy. I love that so many dedicated bloggers have taken the time to photograph and swatch the palettes (in many cases all the palettes!). Loving Right Now

A heart-felt thank you to each and every one of you for your support, kind e-mails, tweets, comments. I haven’t had much time to blog these days but love what I’ve been reading on others (discovering amazing new ones each week!). First an update on our kitty: he’s a two month old ragamuffin (part Siberian), and we named him Calvin. He’s already settling in quite well with our two jack russell terriers (matched energy, lol). For those wondering about our other cat, he disappeared back in late July (yes, a total heartbreak, we had him about 6 years). I thought I couldn’t possibly replace him – but it was love at first sight when I saw this little white fluff ball in a local pet store window. (On the nails above is NARS Storm Bird.)

Onto beauty related loves …

  • NARS opened a new store on Melrose, I can’t wait to see it in person! For now, amazing photos were posted by others of the grand opening on Twitter and Instagram here, here, here, here, here and here
  • Burberry Beauty is releasing new Eyeshadow Quads next month, see previews on Bella-Shmella and swatches on British Beauty Blogger
  • Edward Bess is also releasing three new stunning Eyeshadow Quads next month, the Bergdorf Blog 5th/58th has some preliminary information
  • Giorgio Armani has revamped their eyeshadow quads (yet again), I fell in love with 2 and 6 (reviews to come soon), Best Things In Beauty has done extensive testing and swatching
  • Guerlain Holiday looks amazing this year, I went for the nail colors only, but the Wulong Meteorites Pressed Powder makes Temptalia’s skin glow (I’m tempted)
  • Cafe Makeup posted swatches of all the new Burberry Lip Velvets from Nordstrom San Francisco (great reference)
  • The Non-Blonde has a sneak peek of Laura Mercier’s new Illuminating Eye Color

Loving Right Now

Right now I’m loving contrasting nude and vampy colors. I haven’t done extensive at-home testing yet on all the items, but I loved reviews I’ve seen on other blogs and of course ran to the counters over the past couple weeks to try in-store (fun at Sephora, Nordstrom and Neimans). Reviews to come soon but for now I’ve linked a few other blogs I really liked featuring these items.

Right now I’m loving (left to right):
  • Dolce & Gabbana Passione Nail Lacquer is the perfect mauve-pink-fuschia cream (here)
  • Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay is my latest fragrance love, fresh, sweet but not too sweet
  • MAC Cremesheen + Pearl has to be one of the prettiest collection of neutral pinks, peaches and corals I’ve ever seen! I had to get one of each shade but my favorites are the Cremesheen Glass lipglosses in Floating Lotus, Paper Lantern, and Pagoda (the swatches on Temptalia are phenomenal)
  • Chanel Coromandel Le Vernis is a classic rich warm bright red (here), it was discontinued a while ago but it’s now re-released on Chanel.com

Right now, I’m loving …

  • Giorgio Armani’s newest Eyes to Kill Intense shadows, my top three this moment are #24, 27 and 28, they really stay put (reviewed and swatched last week here)
  • Chanel’s Concealer Brush #10 for cream shadows, I find this brush works really well with the Armani shadows
  • NARS Larger than Life Volumizing Mascara has made my top picks list multiple times this year, it thickens, holds curl, defines and doesn’t smudge
  • Frédéric Malle En Passant trio from Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, a perfect light summer scent, (reviewed here)
  • Chanel Le Vernis shades in Frenzy (here), Delight (here) and Paradoxal (here)
  • Edward Bess’s Deep Shine Lipgloss in First Kiss, the perfect healthy pink (here)
  • Bobbi Brown Pink Sunset Shimmer Lipgloss from the new Twilight collection, sheer but shiny, reminds me a bit of the older discontinued Rose Gold Shimmer Lip Gloss (I don’t have it swatched but Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog has the entire collection swatched here)
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Fetiche is a nice healthy but soft pink (here)
  • MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Highlighter in Light Year gives a beautiful angelic glow when dusted with a fluffy brush (I don’t have this swatched, but love the feature on Temptalia)
  • Davines OI/OIL Absolute beautifying potion, a more detailed review to come soon, but I discovered this recently and love love love this, I use it either before I blow dry or after as a finishing product (in the meantime you can read more about this on their website which also has a salon locator for where to purchase)

Loving Right Now

I’m always drawn to matched lip and nail collections. I loved the Chanel Extrait de Gloss Collection (from 2010, see summary on Karla Sugar) and the recent MAC Fashion Sets, in particular Angel and Please Me (see lineup on Temptalia here, here and here). Right now I’m loving something that’s a little more mixed lip/nail combination and something a little less matched, but still in the same color family. Here are a few mixed and matched combination sets I’m loving right now. Swatches below as well.

Right now I’m loving soft baby blue nail polishes. In particular these colors shown below: Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air, NARS Kutki, Dior Glacier, Dolce & Gabbana Anise and OPI My Pointe Exactly. All photos by me.

  • Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Rivière, a soft seafoam green shimmer as seen on Cafe Makeup and The Non-Blonde (I heard rumors that the latest Asia Le Blanc Release will be available at Nordstrom for their Anniversary Sale)

I’ve made new friends, discovered new brands, started getting into perfumes, learned new techniques, figured out how to paint my own nails properly, and have learned so much from so many of you.
