August Beauty Favorites

Rounding up my August favorites this month! I have a mix of makeup, skin care, fragrance, body care and accessories I’ve been loving.

Givenchy Beauty

Givenchy Beauty loves Prisme Libre

I’ve slowly been trying more from Givenchy and have to say I’m obsessed. I think the Prisme Libre Concealer is one of the best concealers I’ve tried. I wear Shade C305 in the concealer and it’s creamy, easy to blend, has great coverage, doesn’t crease or cake. Love that it has the perfect consistency – not too creamy but not too matte.

The Prisme Libre Loose Setting Powder is also pure love. It sets foundation/concealer so nicely with a natural blurred effect. Based on the color descriptions I first tried 4 Mousseline Acidulee for medium skin tones which has green and lilac powders for color correcting. I’ve also tried 3 Voile Rose (a bit light, but I can make it work) and 5 Popeline Mimosa (a bit too dark). I still think Shade 4 is the best for me although I don’t really need the green and purple tones to color correct. I really wish they would make a medium shade without the color correctors.

Most recently I tried the Prisme Libre Skin-Caring Glow Foundation. I finally found my match in the shade N280. Love this formula for the natural glow and medium coverage.

No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers

For a glow complexion enhancer the No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers from Chanel hands down was my favorite (Exclusive to Chanel and Ulta Beauty). Full review here. For a more affordable alternative (but without skincare) I still recommend the Elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter (I wear Shade 3 or 4) for an all over natural glow booster.

Lip Favorites

This month’s lip favorites are primarily repeats. The YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Sticks in 13 Flashing Rose and 15 Showcasing Nude have been in rotation almost daily. Review + swatches here.

YSL Candy Glaze

I still reach for the Dior Addict Lip Maximizers in 14 Shimmer Macadamia (below left) and 038 Rose Nude frequently (below right). Review + swatches of more shades here.

Dior Lip Maximizers Shimmer Macadamia and Rose Nude

The Chanel Longwear Lip Pencils finally came back in stock! The shades Rose Naturel + Nude Brun are the best ones in my opinion for neutrals.

Chanel Lip Liners

In the matte lip/liquid lip world I tried some of the Lisa Eldridge Velveteen Liquid Lip Colour and was completely blown away! I am usually not a fan of liquid lips/matte lip formulas, but this one from Lisa Eldridge has the most comfortable liquid lip texture that I’ve ever tried. It has a nice dry down that doesn’t shrink or dry out the lips. Colors are very flattering and lasting power is impressive. I have not done a blog post on these but you can see them in action HERE on reels.

Eye Makeup Favorites

The Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Palette is hands down the best palette this month if not this year. I love the neutral-warm tones, pigment, color payoff and quality. Still in stock at Ulta Beauty, if you’re a Sephora shopper you can sign up for alerts when it restocks there.

Hand Care

Diptyque Velvet Hand Lotion

For hand care I’ve been a huge fan of the Diptyque Softening Hand Wash and the Velvet Hand Lotion. We have mutiples of these in our home, I just started using the Velvet Hand Lotion again and it’s pure love.

In my bag I carry the Chanel Le Lift La Crème Main which I love for hydration and smoothing.

For the nails I still swear by the OPI Cuticle Oil for an affordable option. I’ve been really interested in trying the Dior Huile Abricot which looks like it might have been reformulated recently.

Skincare Loves

La Mer Skin Favorites Moisturizing Soft Cream, Concentrate, Eye Concentrate

Not much has changed in my skincare routine lately. I still have my usual go-to’s in rotation but I’ve been really loving the La Mer Soft Moisturizing Cream, The Concentrate, The Eye Concentrate and the Treatment Lotion Hydrating Sheet Masks.

Fragrance Favorites

Diptyque L’Eau Papier

Even though fall is approaching it still feels very much like summer and my top 3 scents for August were Diptyque L’Eau Papier and Phlur Missing Person for skin-like scents and Phlur Father Figure for a lush fig. For date nights or something more sophisticated and dressy I love Creed’s Aventus for Her.

Handbag Essentials

Handbag Essentials

I rotate my handbags regularly based on outfits but I always keep a hair clip (love the ones from Emi Jay), blotting papers, travel perfume, and at least a couple lip balms inside. The Dior Blotting Papers have been a lifesaver in this weather. My favorite lip balms are the squeeze tube or click up style format. I also swear by the R&Co Dart Stick for flyaways.

Hair Care Loves

Kerastase Nutritive Hair Care Line

I’ve been a die-hard Oribe fan for the longest time. I keep going back to the the Gold Lust line for the Shampoo and Conditioner. I do like to switch it up though depending on my hair needs and just started using the Kerastase Nutritive Line and my hair looks so much better and feels amazing. I tend to forget in the hot summer months my hair tends to get dried out from the sun, heat and pool. They have different options depending on hair type (ie fine or thick) but I’ve been loving the Bain Satin Shampoo for Fine to Medium Hair + Hydrating Conditioner. They’re hydrating but rinse well so they don’t leave a heavy film on the hair.

The biggest game changers for me though are the Heat Protectant Styling Cream and Heat Protecting Leave-In Spray. Both are great leave-in products that help hydrate and reduce frizz without being too heavy.

If I had to pick one I really love the Heat Protectant Styling Cream (best for medium hair). If you have Fine to Medium Hair you might want to try the Leave-In Spray.

Mini Pouch

Stoney Clover Mini Pouch

Last but not least is a new mini pouch. I ordered one of the the Stoney Clover Mini Pouches (available at Revolve, Saks, Stoney Clover). It’s pretty spendy for a small pouch but I love the size and shape. There are lots of other options with a solid nylon material, patterened nylon, nylon + clear. On the Stoney Clover site you can customize your own with different patches which is cute. I do think with the material this will get dirty easily since it’s fabric but I love the size and structure.

Stoney Clover is having a pretty good Labor Day Sale this weekend with 40% off a lot of items. My clear pouch is included in the sale.

New Fall Beauty Launches Sephora

I have a Sephora haul roundup review sharing a look at some new launches! There are lots of new products that dropped this month. A few of these I’ve already shared but many of you have asked for comparisons and more details so I’ll answer your questions below. If you’re not signed up for the Sephora Beauty Insider Program I highly recommend you do (you can sign up here for free). Being a member opens up access to their promos, events, early access and more.

New Fall Beauty Launches Sephora

New Base Products

Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops

I’m always excited to try new foundations and complexion enhancers. The Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops combine skincare and color in glowy golden shimmer serum. The B-Goldi Bright Drops have 5% niacinamide to help with brightening and dark spots. I like mixing this with the D-Bronzi Sunshine Drops and Protini Polypeptide Cream for my base. It gives my skin a naturally glowy base with a hint of bronze for more color. The drops are versatile – you can use them all over the face, mixed with moisturizer, mixed with foundation or as a subtle highlight. I like that the shimmer has just the right amount of glow – not too much and not too little.

Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops v D-Bronzi

There are quite a few new foundations out now. Two hydrating skin tints I tried and love are the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint (I wear Medium 1) and the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint (I wear Shade 9 or 10). Both are great for normal to dry skin types and have a balm like texture with sheer to medium coverage. I like these for a glowy very natural skin-but-better kind of base. On good skin days or days I don’t want a lot of makeup I apply either tint and then add concealer to spots I need more coverage.

New Foundations Hourglass, Bobbi Brown, Fenty

A lot of you wanted to know which one was better, I think they’re both great. The Bobbi Brown tint has SPF and a slightly thinner texture. On my skin it has more of a hydrating finish while the Hourglass tint is thicker and more balmy with a tiny bit more pigment. I have a slight preference for the Bobbi Brown, but both are great. If you have normal/oily skin and want the same concept but not as hydrating, check out the Too Faced Healthy Glow Skin Tint or It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow instead.

Fenty Eaze Drop Blur Stick Foundation

Fenty Eaze Drop Blur Stick Foundation Shade 9

Fenty Eaze Drop Blur Stick Foundation Shade 9 vs 10

Fenty Eaze Drop Blur Stick Foundation Shade 9

Fenty added a foundation stick called the Eaze Drop Blur Stick Foundation and I’m obsessed. It has a texture that glides onto the skin with a satin finish. I really like that it’s not too matte so it doesn’t emphasize texture or pores. It has a slight blurring effect with medium coverage. I like layering it on top of the Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. I wear the same shade in both the fluid and stick in Shade 9. I also swatched Shade 10 of the stick below as well.

Patrick Ta Launches

New Patrick Ta launches

I love what Patrick Ta has been creating these days and always look forward to the next launch. He added a few new shades of the Major Headlines Blush. I picked up one of the new shades She’s Flushed which is a pretty medium rose pink duo (I think it will be pretty for fall).

He also added new coordinating shades of the Major Headlines Matte Suede Lipstick & Silky Lip Cremes. I picked up a few to try. Shy is a pale pink, Flushed is a neutral rose, Blushing is a berry rose and Seductive is a deeper plum mauve. Out of all the shades I tried I think Blushing is my fav in the Silky Lip Creme formula.

Eye Makeup Favorites

Laura Mercier Caviar Tightline Eyeliner

There are some new basics for the eyes which I think are worth checking out. Laura Mercier reformulated the Caviar Stick Matte Eyeshadow and Caviar Tightline Eyeliner. I really love the new eyeliners for intense pigment, smooth texture and long lasting wear time.

Too Faced Better than Sex Foreplay Mascara Primer

For the lashes I can’t rave enough about the Too Faced Better than Sex Foreplay Mascara Primer. It’s one of the few primers I’ve tried that holds the curl and helps mascara adhere better to the lashes. 100% worth checking out in my opinion.

Kosas Brow Pop and Brow Pop Nano

For brows my usual go-to’s are from Anastasia Beverly Hills or Benefit, but I’ve been really enjoying the Kosas brow products too. The Brow Pop is a great shaping pencil with intense pigment to fill in the brow area. Kosas just launched the Brow Pop Nano which has a super fine tip. This has one of the smallest tips for a brow pencil that I’ve tried and I like that it’s sturdy. I wear Medium Brown in both.

Last but not least is a quick look at the Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder Blush. I’ve been really loving everything I’ve tried from Givenchy and I’m so happy the loose powder blushes finally arrived in the US. I ordered three to try but honestly I think I’m going to have to try them all. 1 Mousseline Lilas is a lilac pink, 2 Taffetas Rose is a soft baby pink and 3 Voile Corail is a soft coral. Each powder contains four different colors. They come with a sifter cap where you can mix and swirl the colors on the cheeks. I prefer applying with a brush but the puff allows you too apply product with more coverage/pigment.

Formula is soft, matte and really pretty! Above wearing 2 Taffetas Rose with the YSL Candy Glaze 13 Flashing Rose (back in stock).

Natasha Denona

New Natasha Denona Launches

August 23, 2023

Natasha Denona I need a Nude Palette, Mini Starlette + New Lip Crayons

I’m always excited to see what Natasha Denona creates and this season she’s given us neutral makeup lovers some stunning palettes. I have a look at her two latest palettes I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette and Mini Starlet alongside swatches of her new I Need a Nude Lip Crayons.

Mini Starlette

I think her mini 5-pan palettes are some of my favorites on the market. I still adore her Mini Nude and Mini Biba Palette years after they launched. Her new Mini Starlette is beautiful. It has a very pretty mix of neutrals, both warm, neutral and cool. It has a soft matte cool brown, a sparkling champagne pink topper, a soft matte apricot pink and a cool brown plum matte.

Pigment is beautiful and easy to layer. The mattes don’t always swatch the best on the hands but I’ve always found they apply beautifully on the lids with smooth textures.

I Need a Nude Lip Crayon

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Lip Crayon

Natasha Denona added new shades of her I Need a Nude Lip Crayon. These are super creamy and opaque and glide on like a dream. I think the colors are just SO beautiful, but my darker tone pigmented lips cannot pull off the neutrals. They swatch beautifully on the arm but on my complexion/lip tone/skin tone they look very cool and grey.

This round I’m finally able to wear some of her new shades, in particular the colors with the P in the color code work really well.

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Lip Crayon

I Need a Nude Palette

I’ve saved the best for last. Her I Need a Nude Palette is a neutral-lover’s dream come true. I love her Biba and Glam Palette and this new one runs a bit warmer in tone which is perfect for me. I love a good neutral but there’s something about my olive/yellow complexion that can’t always pull off true neutrals and taupes. I feel best when I’m in warm-neutrals and while this palette isn’t exactly warm, it’s warmer than Biba (review here) or Glam (reviewed here).

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette

I’m obsessed and 100% think it’s the best palette launched this year. It has a beautiful mix of mattes, shimmers and metallics. Some of the metallic eyeshadows have an almost wet foiled effect when applied with fingers (with a brush the shimmer isn’t as intense). I love that she added a warm matte pink and a warm dusty rose pink which helps warm up the eye looks in the best way possible.

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette

Natasha Denona I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette swatches

I’ve only played around with this a few times – with the number of shades I think the combinations are endless but I’ve really like the look with Mesh, Vague, Wit, Ella and Sheen layered and then Silhouette as a liner.

Chanel Beauty Fall-Winter 2023

August 19, 2023

Equinoxe de Chanel Collection Fall 2023 Beauty Collection

The Chanel Beauty Collection for Fall-Winter 2023 has arrived with the new Equinoxe de Chanel Collection. Everything has launched now at Chanel.com. I have a look + swatches today covering a few pieces:

I don’t have every single color for the eyes or lips but I do have a 5 of the 6 new eyeshadows and 4 of the 6 new rouge coco blooms. The entire collection has medium to deep tones that feel like the fall season. At first glance I was worried everything would pull too dark and dramatic, but I was pleasantly surprised by a number of pieces. I think there are definitely some winners with this launch!

Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony

Chanel Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony

There are two new powder blushes called the Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony. I really appreciate how every season Chanel creates something special and unique. The embossed detail on their powders will disappear with use but these extra touches makes for a truly luxurious piece of art. These have two shades but with the design it’s pretty much a given that both will be mixed when you dip a brush into the powder.

Chanel Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony swatches

Beige and Corail 797 is a warm orangey russet color. It has a very tiny bit of shimmer giving it a soft luminous glow. It does pull warm but I think this shade is perfect for fall.

Chanel Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony Beige and Corail

Beige Rose and Mauve 798 is a plum with a soft rose pink. Purples are very difficult for me to pull off as a blush but with a light hand I think it’s a really pretty soft plum shade.

Chanel Douceur D’Equinoxe Powder Blush Harmony Beige Rose and Mauve

Both have medium pigment that is very easy to blend and layer. I really like the finish. It’s very smooth, doesn’t look streaky and I think they will be easy to layer with other powder blushes.

Rouge Coco Bloom

Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom

There are six new shades of Rouge Coco Bloom. These are high pigment lipsticks with a lot of shine. This kind of lipstick formula is one of my favorites. Neutral lip lovers will be able to wear Ease 150 (beige nude brown) or Sweetness 152 (medium-deep rose pink). The other shades pull very bold and edgy which aren’t my vibe, but if you’re one who loves a bold glam look I think you will absolutely love the bright orangey reds this fall.

Bright 158 is a bold and bright warm red. Wild 160 is a deep eggplant plum shade with a tiny bit of shimmer.

Ombre Premiere Libre Loose Eyeshadows

Chanel Ombre Premiere Libre Loose Eyeshadow

For the eyes Chanel launched a new loose eyeshadow called the Ombre Premiere Libre Loose Eyeshadow. I have mixed feelings about these because the product itself is SOOOO good, but the packaging/applicator is high maintenance.

The product itself is a beautiful loose shadow. I think the colors and textures are really stunning. Arm swatches can’t do these justice for how beautiful they are on the eyes. They have a gorgeous soft airbrushed finish with an amazing glow. The shimmer is super fine and smooth. Colors are perfect for fall but I think you can wear them year round.

Chanel Ombre Premiere Libre Loose

Chanel Ombre Premiere Libre Loose Eyeshadow swatches

402 Sycomore is a shimmery beige
404 Chene Brun is a neutral brown
406 Cedre Cuivre is a warm copper
408 Acacia is a reddish brown with shimmer
412 Bois D’Amarante is a plum with shimmer

below wearing 402 + 404

Chanel Ombre Premiere Libre Loose Eyeshadow

The biggest downside for me is the applicator but I’m not sure how else these could be designed or packaged. These have a sponge tip cap which picks up an impressive amount of product and applies the pigment to the lids really well, but there is a ton of fall out and they can get very messy on the cheeks.

I have some fall out with any powder shadow whether to be pressed or loose, so I almost always have to clean up the debris every time I apply product (unless it’s a cream).

To get the best application I dab a bit of the loose pigment into the palm of my hand and then dip a brush (like the Hakuhodo B004G, Chanel No 204 or Chanel Dual Ended 200) into the product and apply on the lids. It takes time to dip + apply + blend + layer so these aren’t going to be a quick swipe and go kind of shadow.

Le Vernis

Chanel Fall Winter 2023

Last we have two new shades of Le Vernis Nail Polish. Ete Indien is a sheer jelly bright orange. I can get smooth slightly transparent finish with two coats. Bois des Iles is a wine brown shade. With two coats it pulls very dark brown with vamp-like vibes. The brown-red undertone is noticeable so it’s not too dark.

Overall pleasantly surprised. I’m still used to neutrals or softer tones and I did not expect these colors to work for me. I really love both the lighter shades of the Rouge Coco Bloom in Ease and Sweetness. I think the blushes are beautiful although I’m still in the bright coral + pink + bronze summer state of mind when it comes to makeup colors so I’ll save these for September/October.

Did you check out anything from the fall launch yet? What did you think?

No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers

August 15, 2023

No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers

Chanel added a new product to their No 1 de Chanel skincare line with three shades of the No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers ($60 each for 1 fl oz). These are radiant illuminators that combine skincare and tint in one. The No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers contain the Red Camellia Extract and Red Camellia Oil which are supposed to help revive and protect the skin.

These can be worn on their own all over or as a primer underneath foundation. The three shades have a medium texture consistency – not liquid/fluid but not super thick like a cream. They do have a hydrating feel and a little goes a long way so you don’t need a lot.

No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancer Soft Pink and Medium Coral and Intense Amber

I’ve played with these a few ways. The shimmer is fine enough that I can apply all over the face in place of foundation for an all over glow. If I set with a good medium coverage powder on top like the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder or Chantecaille Compact Makeup the result is a naturally radiant glow from within kind of look, almost like fresh skin that is softly powdered.

I also like using as a primer underneath foundation or mixed in with foundation for a little more glow.

No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancer Swatches Soft Pink and Medium Coral and Intense Amber

There are three shades, Soft Pink is a pearly soft peachy pink, Medium Coral is a peachy shade, Intense Amber is a very warm golden amber shimmer. On my skin tone which is a Chanel B40/BD41/B50/BD51 I can use either Soft Pink or Medium Coral on their own. I also like the two mixed.

Formula is easy to blend and work into the skin with fingers. One pump is more than enough for me to cover my entire face. These are natural in finish but have more coverage with a thicker texture than the Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid or Fluid Enlumineur.

Full beauty look wearing:

There are lots of complexion enhancers out right now and for a similar finish, I would say the Elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter is the most similar in the way it looks on the skin. Of course the formulas and shades are completely different, but for a glow product I can wear all over the face on its own without looking like a disco ball, I feel these are similar. The Elf product is primarily makeup and the shades are closer to skin tone shades while the Chanel is noticeably more hydrating and the colors work to almost brighten the skin with the pink and peach tones.

Bottom line: love. I didn’t expect to love these as much as I do since I already am a die-hard fan of the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and Elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter. Both of those come in skin tones so I wasn’t sure I would like the No 1 de Chanel Skin Enhancers since the colors aren’t really skin tones.

The Chanel has a beautiful luxurious feel and adds a soft radiance to the skin. The tint in the base adds more life to the skin by adding some warmth. I will say that if you have super oily skin these may be too hydrating for you.

I did a review of the No 1 de Chanel beauty line a while ago here in case you’re wondering what other items I tried from the line. See the Enhancers in action here.

You can find these at Chanel and Ulta Beauty.

Have you tried these? What’s your favorite complexion enhancer these days?

Rare Beauty Haul All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks, Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner and the Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo

I hauled a few of the new Rare Beauty launches recently and have a review + lots of swatches today. I picked up the All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks, Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner and the Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo.

Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo

Rare Beauty Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo

Rare Beauty Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo

The Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo ($28) is a super cute set with a full size Stay Vunerable Glossy Lip Balm in Nearly Petal and mini Soft Pinch Blush in Happy. The Nearly Petal shade is a light peachy pink that’s very sheer and barely has any color payoff by itself. I like it layered on top of a liner or lipstick, but by itself I think it’s pretty much the same as a clear lip balm (at least on me).

The Soft Pinch Blush in Happy is a super mini. It’s very tiny but since the blushes are ultra pigmented I don’t mind the small size. It’s cute, I love the color, and the pink is really flattering for a healthy pink flush.

Rare Beauty Fresh & Dewy Lip Cheek Duo

Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner

The reviews for the Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner ($19) are overwhelmingly positive but I was pretty disappointed in this formula. It glides on beautifully on the hand, but on the eyes it drags and the pigment is not smooth or intense for the Cocoa shade. I felt like it disappeared on my skin within minutes. For a pencil liner in a twist up format I prefer the Tarte Quick Sticks or Sisley Phyto-Kohl Eyeliners by far.

I liked the Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara ($20) from a previous haul so I restocked on another tube. This time however I’m just not really a fan of the formula. I think since I first bought it there have been so many other great launches, this one is just ok. Adds nice definition on me, but doesn’t really volumize and absolutely does not hold the curl.

All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks

Rare Beauty All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks

Rare Beauty All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks

Rare Beauty All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks

Last but not least we have a look at the All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Sticks ($22). This is another product I have mixed thoughts about. I think they’re much better than the Hourglass Voyeur Eyeshadow Sticks (reviewed here) but I don’t think they are the best out there. Perhaps the formula is just not for my skin type/preference though. The Rare Beauty Eyeshadow sticks are long-wearing but they set really fast so you need to blend quickly. On bare lids they emphasize fine lines I did not know where there giving me almost a wrinkly dried out look. If I load up on eye cream and apply the shadows as a topper on top of a powder shadow I get a better result.

I did a demo with 3 shades on Instagram reels. I think the colors are beautiful. Formula is kinda high maintenance for me, although I don’t mind layering. I just see myself reaching for something creamier that doesn’t set as fast like the Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks (wish they would launch new colors) or the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks.

Overall I had fun trying some new launches. I don’t think I would call any of them must-haves although I do really like the eyeshadow sticks in Contentment and Growth. From the Rare Beauty line I still think the best thing I’ve tried is the Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer.

Base Makeup Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint + Powder

August 8, 2023

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint review

Bobbi Brown just added new items to their Vitamin Enriched line with a new Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint ($46) and Pressed Finishing Powder ($48). I’ve been testing both for a few days now and I think they are definitely worth checking out!

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Bace, Tint, Powder and Full Cover Concealer

The Vitamin Enriched Face Base has been one of my favorites for a long time. It’s one of the best multi-tasking primer-moisturizers in one. It works well with a wide range of foundation formulas and by now I’ve lost track of how many I’ve used up. I like that it hydrates and really sinks into the skin (while most primers seem to sit on top). It is scented with geranium and grapefruit but I haven’t had any issues with the fragrance on my skin.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint Medium 2 review

The Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint is a tinted face base with SPF 15. It is very hydrating and semi-thick but blends out easily with a sponge. I did a demo applying with a brush on Instagram Reels and it blends out nicely, but the best way is to blend and dab with a sponge.

I applied it on top of the Face Base Moisturizer. Swatches below of Medium 1 and Medium 2.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint Medium 1 and Medium 2

A little goes a long way and it gives very natural sheer coverage. If you need more coverage your best option it layer concealer on top, the formula of the base itself will be too thick if you try to layer it for more coverage.

I was sent Medium 2 which was too dark when I tried it last week. I ordered Medium 1 which was a better match, but we spent the weekend outdoors including a day on the boat so my skin tanned and now Medium 2 works. I feel like I’m forever having to purchase multiple shades since I tan so easily.

So far I really like the way it feels and makes my skin look. Since I have combination skin I 100% recommend setting with a powder.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Pressed Finishing Powder Neutral

I also tried the new tint with the new Vitamin Enriched Pressed Finishing Powder in Neutral. It has a soft blur/pressed formula similar to the Sisley Blur Expert and Chantecaille Perfect Blur Powder.

Formula of the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Pressed Finishing Powder is pretty good when you first apply but it does not last long enough for me. It’s lightweight, blurs, sets and is sheer enough that your skin shows through. I was sent the Neutral color which is a good match. It’s sheer enough that it’s forgiving so you don’t need an exact match, but the formula looks a little too powdery on my skin.

If I apply with a lighter hand for sheerer application I can’t get enough product onto my skin. I think this isn’t the powder for my skin type but I can definitely see it working better for normal/dry skin types. For me the base is best when set with other powders like the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder or Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder.

Bare Skin vs the Tint

Just the Tint

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint review

Overall I love the new tint. I think it will be even better for me when the weather cools down (which won’t be for a while). If you have dry skin I think you will love it. For me it performs better than the Hourglass Veil Tint. If you have normal, combo or oily skin I think you may find it too thick or hydrating for your skin type in which case I’d recommend the YSL Nu Bare Look Tint or Too Faced Born This Way Healthy Glow Skin Tint.

I think the powder is nice, just not for my skin type. But if you’re looking for a hydrating blurring formula I highly recommend checking it out.
