We’ve been in Florida for two and a half years now and the best thing we’ve discovered are the beaches! We never really knew what truly beautiful beaches were like until our first trip to Florida three Decembers ago. As beautiful as San Diego is, West Coast beaches don’t compare at all to the ones on the East coast! Here the beaches are so clean, water is warm enough to swim in and the overall atmosphere is more relaxing and friendly. We’ve been exploring more beaches each weekend and finally went to Siesta Key off the coast of Sarasota. So many of you have recommended we visit and it’s one of the best ones we’ve been to! We also love St. Pete Beach and Anna Maria.
With each of our beach trips I try to share a little of what I pack with me on Instagram stories. Our beach days tend to be all day events, or at the very least all afternoon to late evening excursions. We go straight from the beach to run afternoon errands or dinner and even though most of everything in South Florida is very laid back and low key, I still pack beauty products and extra clothes to change into to look a little more polished.
A lot of you have been asking for a beach kit series along with an updated Florida post (ie beauty, towels, umbrellas, clothes, best beaches etc.). Today I have my beach beauty favorites. I’m working on the other ones to post for you soon! Above is The Daily Edited Clear Pouch in Pale Pink (love!). On the nails is Chanel Le Vernis in Purple Ray. Sunnies are from Celine.

Sunscreen + Sun Protection
favorite sunscreens in the Truffle Jetset Case
I owe you an updated sunscreen post but I have had the worst time with face sunscreen this year and had several severe allergic reactions to new formulas I’ve been testing. The whole testing process is taking longer than anticipated and I’m still going to have an updated roundup with all the hits and misses. The ones I swear by are my long-time tried and true:
- Sol de Janiero Bumb Bum Sol Oil with SPF 30 is something we’ve nearly used up entirely! It’s a delicious suncreen oil that has shimmer in side. The shimmer is very subtle and has no gritty feel/texture. We used this during our Miami trip and I’ve been using it here in Tampa too. It does have a very strong sweet smell so if you can’t wear strong scents opt for the Supergoop! Oil instead.
- Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen with SPF 50 is my most-used body sunscreen. It helps to prevent burn the best out of all the ones I’ve tried. It’s smooth enough and lightweight to reapply easily without feeling heavy. There’s no scent and it doesn’t feel sticky.
- Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen with SPF 40 is a great transparent face sunscreen for me. It’s invisible and lightweight, I can wear it under makeup or alone!
- Supergoop! Sunscreen Oil with SPF 50 is tied in my top two for the body. This was the first Supergoop! product I tried and it was love from the beginning. This one is also lightweight and is super smooth and easy to apply.
- Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist with SPF 50 is one of the best ways to reapply face sunscreen without ruining your makeup. I also love their powder but find the mist is something I reach for more often.
- Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen with SPF 35 remains one of my go-to’s for the face, it doubles as a primer for me and never clogs my pores. It does adhere to the skin so make sure to double cleanse in the afternoon to wash it off properly!
- Chanel CC Cream* with SPF 50 is one of the few CC creams I’ve actually liked. I did a full review here with swatches of all the colors. I hope they expand the color range!
- Eric Javits Hampton Straw Sun Hat is one of the best hats I’ve bought for sun protection. From browsing these online I didn’t this was going to be worth the splurge. After seeing it in person though I bought one and feel it was 100% worth the splurge. This prevents the scalp and head from getting burned better than any other hat I’ve tried. The top is woven and also lined to block 95% of the UVA and UVB rays. They have several styles but I opted for the Hamptons one. You can also see it worn in this post here.
- Neck masks and arm protectors are something both Andrew and I are looking into. We’ve researched a few online and I can share a better review once we’ve explored more options. There’s no escaping the sun here and it’s quite intense while driving so our arms get crispy. Sometimes I’ll bring a sweatshirt or extra scarf to cover my arms/legs in the car. Andrew bought a couple lightweight options that he’s been trying out the past few weeks. We noticed people who work at the beach here and in Miami are often covered head to toe with these – they wear them with their polos or shorts for extra coverage and still seem to be light enough to wear in the heat.
___________
Hair Accessories
The humidity, heat, salt and wind at the beach has made my hair look so crazy Andrew asked me to do something about it. I’ve made an extra effort to pack things to look a little more presentable with my hair. Hair scarves and the silk hair ties have been lifesavers. I also pack a little comb or brush as it gets progressively windy later in the day.
Yellow Bandana Madewell, Blue Skinny Scarf Something Navy, White Floral Scarf Rag and Bone, Small Comb Aerin, Long Comb Yves Durif, scrunchies from Slip
___________
Cheeks
For the face I typically just apply a little bit of bronzer on the cheeks before I leave the house and don’t do anything for touch ups for the rest of the day. A number of you have messaged me telling me you LOVE the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks and I decided to reinvestigate. I’ve found that adding a little bit of cream color after the beach makes me look more alive and I’ve been reaching for them more frequently!
The Sisley Phyto-Blush Twists* have been a favorite for a cream to powder product for a couple years now. They launched two more colors sometime last year and it took me forever to try them but the two new ones are the best ones. Shade 5 Contour can double as a bronzer and Shade 6 Passion is the prettiest coral pink gold. I bought one of the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks for a sheer glow. I had a few several years ago but gave them away in a beauty purge before during our cross-country move. I think Las Salinas is the prettiest pink with gold shimmer. Above I swatched with a heavy hand but all of these blend out for a sheerer wash of color.
___________
Lips
Lip products are something I always bring multiples of everywhere. The best effortless beach colors are ones that have a tint + treatment in one like the NARS Lip Oil or Dior Addict Lip Glow. Ones I’ve had in rotation lately include the ones below. I don’t pack ALL of these with me, I usually have maybe 3-4 in my bag at any given time. These are the ones I have in frequent rotation:
- NARS Orgasm Oil-Infused Lip Tint (review and swatches here)
- Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath (still think it’s way overpriced but really love how it makes the lips look, I just ordered the new tinted ones and will review soon)
- Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss* in Aurora (swatches here)
- Pat McGrath LUST Gloss* in Peach Perversion (swatches here)
- Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color* in Peach and Quiet (swatches here)
- Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Hall of Fame
- L’oreal Color Riche Shine in Shining Peach, best budget-beauty lip shines! (swatches here)
- Chanel Rouge Coco Flash in Flash (swatches here)
___________
Extras
There are a few extra things I keep on hand with me for the just-in-case moments:
- Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser in the mini is essential for us, we’ll use a water bottle if there’s no sink nearby. I started to develop a severe allergic reaction one day when we were out after testing a sunscreen. It didn’t start surfacing until about an hour after I applied it and my face was suddenly on fire. Andrew had one in his workout bag in the trunk of his car and since we were at a restaurant, I used this in their bathroom to wash it all off. Since that day I’ve always kept an extra cleanser with me just in case. I got mine with the Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday gift, wish they sold the mini! I do really like face wipes but they get really spendy with the amount I’ve gone through, also a regular cleanser just works better.
- Byredo Blanche Perfume is another essential, but really any travel size perfume is a must-have for me on the go. There are mosquitos and they love to bite me. They’re usually only out at dusk but depending on season sometimes they’re out more places than others. A spritz of perfume on the bite usually helps reduce swelling and itching. Otherwise my legs or arms can swell up to the size of a golf ball.
- Fenty Beauty Blotting Papers were so cute and come in this nifty dispenser I had to buy them. The paper is on the thin side but they seem to do the trick to blot shine. It’s super compact and has a tiny mirror which is convenient. I normally swear by the Tatcha Blotting Papers but wanted to give the Fenty ones a try. I like the Fenty packaging better, but the Tatcha papers perform better for me.
- Chanel Stylo Ombre Et Contour* makes for a quick and easy one and done eye look. Also kept with me just-in-case although definitely not essential.
- Other items shown: Truffle Clarity Mini, Rayban Sunglasses, Chanel Le Vernis in Purple Ray on the nails (review here), Aerin Comb and Slip Hair Scrunchie
For those who have been asking, I hope you found this post helpful on some beach beauty favorites! You can keep it as simple as your taste suits you. I do realize some of you don’t wear any makeup to the beach, especially if you swim, but sometimes it’s nice to have a few things on hand to put on afterwards if you don’t want to go bare faced!
If you have any beach beauty favorites let me know in the comments!

Awesome post! 🙂 Love the supergoop sunscreens
Yay! Me too 🙂
I always feel like my lips get sunburned at the beach. I like to use Jack Black lip balm with SPF 25 to keep my lips safe!
Love my Oaui Wave Spray. Oh how I miss the actual beach.
Sabrina, your reviews and giveaways are the best! Tell me, are each of the six steps all required to enter, or are each separate entries? X
You can enter by completing at least 1 of the steps. The more steps you complete the more entries you will receive.
One your recommendation I bought the SuperGoop! Unsceen Suncreen. I am very excited to use it.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Love this!I am tempted to buy the hat but would need to try it in person as I am not usually a hat person.
Yes, definitely try in person first! I’m so not a hat person either lol.
My favorite beach beauty products are all about sunscreen! Nothing is good at anti-aging as a trustworthy sunscreen with high SPF. My favourite ones are from La Roche Posay and Hawaiian Tropic.
My number one must have for summer is the Jack Black Intense Therapy SPF Lip Balm ~ Lemon/Shea Butter & Blackberry/Black Tea are my faves!
Thanks SO MUCH for the facial sunscreen info. I’ve recently had a pretty severe rosacea flare up and my dermatologist reiterated the importance of sunscreen.
Sunscreen by Laroch Posay.
Lately I’ve been loving the Alba Botanicals sunscreen in both the cream/lotion and the spray. Both are SPF50 and seem to work great and the aren’t heavily scented. The Sun Bum Sunscreen Lip Balm SPF 30 is another “must have” item for me both on the beach and also when I am driving. I would love to hear your recommendations for neck masks and arm covers- I don’t like “cooking” while I’m driving either!
By the way, when you are on the beach do you have to keep your beauty products in a cooler with ice packs or do they do okay in the heat without melting?
We bring a large beach umbrella which keeps things well shaded and relatively cool if it is out of the direct sun. I have not had any makeup melt on me yet except the Kopari Coconut Melt which I brought with me one time for a shoot/project. But that melts at room temperature.
There are days when it’s so hot here it reaches nearly 100 degrees, but that is mostly during the summer months here and there. Those days we try to stay inside!
I like the IT CC Illumination foundation for the beach…it’s sheer feeling but gives some coverage and it’s SPF50! I also am very into cream products, BB Pot Rouge and my new fave the TF Glow Stick in Sunstruck. I like Fenty gloss balm for lips as it’s an amazing shade but also last in the heat.
I’m envious that you have the beach pretty much year round!
Cheers Lisa
@LittleMama71
If don’t go to the beach, but if I did, my favourite would have to be my sunscreen. I use the Elta MD sport for the body, and it’s perfect! I use that whenever I’m outdoors. I also use my Kiehls SPF lip balm.
I have been eyeing the Supergoop sunscreens and will definitely be purchasing at least one of them. Thanks for always having such great, honest posts!
Sunscreen and sunglasses are my favorite beach beauty products!
The Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks are beautiful!

Sheisedo spray sunscreen and their powder. Love me some suoergoop too
i’ve been eyeing the nars lip oil!! are you going to try the new tatcha satin skin mist? i am wondering if it could also be used like blotting papers!
That’s an interesting idea!
These are good essentials!
I have to use lip products with spf in them if I’m going to be out in the sun! or a lip sunscreen and a color product over it. My favorite one-and-dones are the fresh lip products- feels hydrating, has spf, and easy to swipe on without a mirror.
EOS Active Lip Balm, Kopari Coconut Deodorant, Ouai Sun of a Beach Ombre Spray, Alterna Caviar Resort Breeze Air-Dry Styling Balm, IGK Blocked Water-Resistant Hair Shield. Playa Endless Summer Spray, Amika Bust Your Brass Violet Leave-In Treatment Foam, Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush, Garnier SkinActive Micellar Makeup Removing Towelettes and Pirette Fragrance Oil.
Living in Florida, I have to go beyond sunscreens for protection. I live in my Coolibar long sleeved fitness tee. It’s perfect for walking the dog.
If I want to show off some skin, my favorite is Australian Gold SPF 50 sunscreen with instant bronzer. Your arms and legs will never look better and the lotion smells like summer. Inexpensive and effective
Oooh the SPF with instant bronzer sounds really pretty! Will have to check it out.
The company uses the term ‘bronzer’ loosely. I would call it a ‘skin blurring’ feature. No matter how you say it, it does flatter your skin. Hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for a great post! My favorite beach product is sunscreen. I use Neutrogena 100+ (i am very fair) and eos lip balm
My favourite is sunscreen by neutrogena.
More than anything .. I am totally digging the glow your skin has in these pictures !!!
You just made hair scarves look so stylish !! I am taking out mine !
Awww thank you!
So funny, you say west coast and east coast beaches and I think of just Florida. Born and raised here, so to me I always think west coast Gulf beaches and east coast Atlantic. Which by the way, the west coast beaches are nicer, however my favorite beach is New Smyrna right below Daytona Beach 🙂
LOL you’re so right! There are two coasts in Florida 🙂 I’m so used to West Coast meaning California.
I too love Supergoop’s sunscreen. For a lip moisturizer, my go to is Clarins.
My only hot weather essential Is Biore Watery Essence SPF 50. And a hat 🙂
I love unseen sunscreen and definitely want to try the bum bum oil!
I can’t use chemical filters and stick with physical. I really love Skinceuticsls Physical Fusion and Replenix spray SS.
I have usually used Coola products but I guess I’m going to have to try Supergoop! Do you wear any lip pies with SPF? If so, I must have missed it.
I do not, I probably should!
I also carry a clear pouch in my beach bag but it was a gift with purchase from a brand I can’t remember the name of. In it I always carry some tissues, a bottle opener (a day to the beach is never complete without a nice cold beer) and a lip balm with SPF.
The one thing I use at the beach is the neutrogena sunscreen. It doesn’t feel greasy on my skin.
I love reading your Florida posts – I love FL and could see myself moving there someday. I am partial to gulf beaches over Atlantic beaches though – that fine white sand is amazing – but it gets everywhere! One of my staples for sun protection is a big, shady hat – like from Outdoor Research. I always use the ones with the chin strap so they dont blow off.
Gulf beaches are indeed so so pretty!
My only beach must have is sunscreen, I usually use the neutrogena spray one for my body just because of the convenience of putting it on. But I love the idea of Sol de Janiero Bumb Bum Sol Oil. Also thinking of trying the Tatcha one, heard lots of good things about it.
I don’t wear much to the beach, but I love Nivea sunscreen as it is not too thick, applies easily and washes off well at the end of the day!
I love the supergoop sunscreen as well. It’s my HG. And I just got the NARS orgasm oil infused lip tint. It’s really lovely to use. Very moisturising.
I need to get a new sunscreen so I’m definitely gonna check out some of the ones you mentioned, your recommendations are always good.

I’m almost embarrassed to say that it’s been over 3 years since I was last at the beach (OMG) but apart from sunscreen, I always have a leave-in hair treatment with me to help keep my hair in great health!
Perfume really works on stings!?
It helps me! Learned it from a room mate in college! Thought she was crazy but it works.
I have been loving my Bobbi Brown lipsticks. Juicy Date and Smoothie Move are my faves.
You are my favorite blogger. Your posts are informative and aesthetically pleasing.
Aww thank you Diane!
So glad you mentioned the SuperGoop mist! I’ve been tempted to try it! Love your posts, thanks so much!
Just tried the Supergoop unseen sunscreen as well as the matte and poreless, after remembering your love for Supergoop. I’m in love with both of them! Finally, sunscreens that don’t make me look greasy or have my makeup separate!
Nice! So happy to hear you love both 🙂
So far it’s only sun screen (La Roche-Posay, Eucerin or Vichy and Paula’s Choice for the lips) Love to try the Sol de Janeiro one but my husband can’t stand the smell of the Bum Bum Cream AT ALL so I’m very hesitant… 😀
I always use sunscreen with spf 50. We are at least 45 minutes from the beach – the farthest I’ve ever lived from it in my life. We spend most of our time by our pool in the summer.
We’re around 45 minutes from the beach too – which is why our trips are an all day thing, it takes us forever to get there. Hoping to move there soon.
Just a quick question. How do you keep your stash at the beach. All of mine melts and I have to toss. So I tend to put a couple of items in the cooler. I live on the east side of Florida but it’s basically the same as the west coast..love this post
Hi Gail, I keep my stash in my beach bag under our umbrella. It is thick enough to provide enough shade to keep things cooler. I haven’t had anything melt yet! We do sometimes bring a little cooler with cold drinks/ice packs but I don’t typically use it for beauty products.
I’m not sure where you’re located on the east side, but we’re in Tampa which is still hot but definitely not as intense with the heat as say Miami/South Beach! I feel like everything is SO MUCH hotter there!
I am in Boca Raton which is s north of Miami and I tend to go to the beach around 10 am and stay for 2-3 hours. I guess I don’t much except sunscreen and drinks and a nice lunch. Thanks for all your wonderful reviews.
I got a sample of the SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen and after working it in to my daily makeup routine for a few days I had to purchase the full size. It’s a fantastic face sunscreen!
Late afternoon beach lover here.
Once the sunbathe sun is gone, I would slowly get prepared to leave. I would leave on/refresh my Clinique sunstick around the eyes, this moves in a way that I’m left with the top of my cheekbones gently highlighted. I find that suntan colours already make my eyes stand out and my skin imperfections – albeit not major – camouflaged (so that’s eyes and foundation being taken care of). I love me a baked blush and a retractable kabuki. I can’t resist and more often than not I am found with more than one blush in my bag 🙂
I also used to put a very nice pearly champagne-y sheer lipstick to complete the beach glow look 🙂
For my offseason office look I would very often skip makeup altogether but post beach makeup is too beautiful to miss
If I find myself nostalgic to beach time, I would turn to Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess fragrance, you get the de rigueur coconut scent but many other olfactive clues as well: the sand, the skin, the burnt Lycra of your bikini, you get the picture.
Hope this long comment will help you with your makeup strategy 🙂
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen and/or Alastin Hydratint if I need some color. Welcome to my neck of the woods since I live in Sarasota. Longboat Key and Lido Beach are also lovely!
Where can I get that tote bag?
I really love the Elta MD sunscreens for my face, but they don’t really last long at the beach, so I use that for everyday and for the beach I’ll use a face stick made for babies on my face.
Love the Shiseido clear stick UV protector, Drybar Lil’ Lemon Drop Hairbrush, and the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip balm for the beach
Favorite things to take with me to the beach is my SWELL bottle!!! Love that it keeps the water cool the whole day! ♥
Living in the desert, I don’t get to the beach often – but it would have to be a good sunblock, big straw hat and lip balm.
I need sunblock, some bubbly water and magazines. Also love the bite beauty lip balm.
