Chanel Lip Haul: 31 Le Rouge, Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue + Rouge Coco Flash

Chanel Lip Haul 31 Le Rouge, Rouge Coco Flash, Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue

I hauled a few lip products from Chanel recently and I am thrilled with the things I picked up! They re-released a few shades in the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue and Rouge Coco Flash formula (both great colors). Chanel also launched new colors of the 31 Le Rouge in both the satin and matte formula and I splurged on two of the new ones. I shared a demo here in case you want to see everything in action.

31 Le Rouge

Chanel 31 Le Rouge

The Chanel 31 Le Rouge ($195) is still one of the best lipstick formulas I’ve tried. It is one of the most expensive lipsticks on the market but it’s everything I want in a lipstick. It’s a classic formula that is super creamy, smooth in coverage, bold in coverage (except the shimmers) and absolutely perfect to me. You can read my original review here (lots more swatches in this post!).

There are six new shades, 3 satin and 3 matte. I picked up 7 Rouge Brode (satin) and 17 Rouge Confident (matte) and love them both. I also realized I had two of the previously launched mattes in 13 Rouge Jersey and 14 Rouge Intimiste in a storage box that I had never got around to reviewing. I’ve added them to my roundup today.

7 Rouge Brode (satin) is a shimmery light pink. It’s on the sheerer side, similar in the finish to 1 Rouge Beige (my favorite). The sparkles are multi-colored if you look really close. I think it’s a stunning one. It reminds me of some of those epic Glossimer shades that have long been discontinued (ie Seashell).

Chanel 31 Le Rouge - Satin 7 Rouge Brode

Chanel 31 Le Rouge - Satin 7 Rouge Brode

_________

17 Rouge Confident (matte) is an ultra pale beige matte. I was worried it would be too pale for me, but since it has a warm undertone I decided to give it a try. In store I still do not try testers on my lips or face, but I do still swatch on my hand. It was an expensive risk to take but I love it! Most shades this pale are too cool toned or pastel – but this one is perfect for me.

Chanel 31 Le Rouge - Matte 11 Rouge Confident

_________

The other two mattes are darker and beautiful for fall. Both are full coverage with a classic matte finish. Since it’s matte it adheres a bit more to the lip and they tug a little when you apply, but it’s not a deal breaker. I love that they don’t look or feel dry. I think 14 Rouge Intimiste is a beautiful mauve pink brown color that isn’t too dark or brown, but I think out of all the shades this is probably the easiest to dupe.

Chanel 31 Le Rouge - Matte 14 Rouge Intimiste

_________

13 Rouge Jersey is another beautiful neutral. It pulls very warm but I tend to like warmer nudes on my dark pigmented lips.

So many of you have asked if these are “worth” the price tag and I don’t know that anyone can say a $195 lipstick is “worth it.” I still don’t know that I can even say a $50+ lipstick is truly worth it. I am 100% happy with my purchases though and I have no regrets.

Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Endless Pink

The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue ($50) is the best long wear liquid lipstick I’ve tried. Once it sets it’s pretty much budge proof. They re-launched 174 Endless Pink which is a warm pink shade so I repurchased it the second I saw it pop up. I think it’s a great everyday almost coral pink, but still pulls neutral on me. If you’re looking for a true neutral 186 Pink Nude is still the best one.

Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Endless Pink

These liquid lipsticks come with two sides, one has the color, the other has a gloss topper and I think you absolutely need to apply the top coat otherwise the liquid lipstick side can feel a little thick or tacky.

Rouge Coco Flash – Bisous

Chanel Rouge Coco Flash Bisous

Chanel also recently launched the Rouge Coco Flash in Bisous individually. This was exclusive to the Nature Getaway Set from last year and I think that it’s one of the prettiest coral pink shades I’ve ever tried. It is sheer but you can build the color if you apply with a brush. The formula is smooth, hydrating and glossy. Pretty much my go-to formula for a lip.

Overall love these new splurges. I picked them up from my local Chanel boutiques. Also available online at Chanel.com.

Best Makeup to Shop during the Sephora Sale

The Sephora Savings Event for Holiday starts today with first access for Rouge Members! Use code EVERYTHING to save when shopping online, these are the details per tier:

  • All Sephora Collection 30% off: 10/31 – 11/10
  • Rouge members 20% off: 10/31 – 11/10
  • VIBs 15% off: 11/4 – 11/10
  • Insiders 10% off: 11/4 – 11/10

I’m rounding up my staples and favorites by category. I tried to narrow each category down to my Top 3, but there are a few sections I have more than 3 favorites.

Best Primers

Best Makeup Primers Saie, Charlotte Tilbury, YSE Beauty and Bobbi Brown

These are my favorite primers. I try to find ones that multi-task (ie has SPF, adds hydration or glow.

Best Foundation Formulas

Best Makeup to Shop during the Sephora Sale

Best Foundations and Skin Tints

I’ve split the foundation and skin tint bases into a few different categories based on formula.

Best Skin Tints/Sheer

Best Medium Coverage

Best Stick Foundations

Best Concealers

Best Concealers YSL, Natasha Denona, Givenchy, NARS and Armani

Best Setting Powders

Dior Forever Nude Matte Filter and Nude Radiant Filter

I’ve split my favorites into pressed and loose versions. To this day I still prefer a pressed format for convenience, but I find that loose powder applied with a puff last longer.

Loose Powder Favorites

  • Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc Free Translucent Loose Setting Powder – This is the setting powder formula that gets me the most compliments. Anytime I use Translucent or Rose people always say that my skin looks flawless. It’s really not these days but this powder really does work to blur the skin beautifully. I use the Makeup by Mario Powder Puff with this one.
  • YSL All Hours Hyper Blur Loose Setting Powder – I bought 02 Fair Medium back in April and really like it. It blurs, sets and doesn’t darken. I might try the Translucent formula since my skin tone is a bit lighter right now.

Pressed Setting Powders

Setting Spray Loves

Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray

I don’t find myself using a setting spray very often these days, but the ones I have tried and like are from Charlotte Tilbury, Makeup by Mario and NARS. All of these are lightweight with an ultra fine mist.

Best Bronzers

Gucci Eclat Soleil Bronzing Powder Shade 01, 02 and 03

My bronzer favorites are still the same as they’ve been for years. I keep hoping for another new formulation to fall in love with, but I keep sticking with these for the tones and formula.

Contour

Rare Beauty Contour Bronzer Stick

I tend to use bronzer as a contour instead of a traditional contour, but three I really like because of the tones

Best Blushes

Also split my recommendations between powder and cream/liquid. I usually prefer a powder format for lasting power.

YSL Make Me Blush 24H Buildable Powder Blush

Favorite Powder Formulas

Armani Luminous Silk Cheek Tint Shine

Favorite Cream or Liquid Formats

  • Armani Luminous Silk Cheek Tint – This is still the best formula for a liquid blush. It’s flawless and long lasting. The shine shades are nice too, but the matte formula is better for lasting power. Review + swatches here.
  • Hourglass Unreal Liquid Blush wins for the best tones and formula. These are on the dewy side but this year my skin has been exceptionally dry so I’ve been loving them. Review + swatches here.
  • Rhode Pocket Blush – I still really love these. Freckle is the best everyday neutral. Swatches + review here.

Highlighter Loves

Dior Beauty Forever Glow Maximizer Gold, Peachy and Rosy

Eyeshadow Palettes

Best Eyeshadow Sephora Patrick Ta, Makeup By Mario, Armani Beauty

Best Cream Eyeshadow

Go-To Brow Products

My top four brow products are the:

I recently bought the ABH MicroStroke Detailing Brow Pen and love it. I’m still trying to master the application but after trying several pens and hating them all (some of the colors looked straight up green on me) a friend recommended the ABH one and she was 100% right about the tones and formula.

Mascara Favorites

Tarte Tartelette Tubing Mascaras

I feel like I need to expand my mascara rotation this year. I’ve been sticking to three tried and true formulas which I still really love, but I think I need to change things up a bit.

Favorite Lipsticks

Rouge Dior On Stage

Rouge Dior On Stage 120 Iconic Rose

I have so many lipstick loves. It’s hard to narrow down my favorites, but if I had to pick my top 5:

Best Liquid Lipstick

Refy Lip Stick

I’m still not really into liquid lipsticks since most are matte and I prefer some kind of shine or gloss, but I do think Dior makes beautiful ones!

Favorite Tinted Lip Balms/Oils

YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick Review

This is another favorite category of mine. I’ll link the swatches I’ve posted of each formula.

Lip Liner

New Tom Ford Lip Liner

Best Lip Gloss Formulas

Dior Lip Maximizers Shimmer Macadamia and Rose Nude

The best gloss formulas ranked by how often I wear them:

Favorite Makeup Tools

Hourglass Travel Brush Set

Quick mention on some tools that I really love that are available at Sephora.

  • Hourglass Travel Brush Set – I bought this several years ago during the Sephora Sale and it was 100% worth the splurge. This set includes the full-size options.
  • Ilia Brushes – These are SO under-rated, I really hope they make a full line of brushes. I think every one I’ve tried is 10/10 incredible.
  • Glossier Lip Pencil Sharpener – Not the most exciting tool, but this is the best sharpener I’ve found. The way they designed the container makes it perfect to carry in your makeup bag or for travel.
  • Makeup By Mario Powder Puff – Not all puffs are the same. Many of my favorites seem to have changed texture but the Makeup By Mario one is ultra soft and I love the size and shape.
  • Sephora Collection Brush Cleaner – This is the best cleaner to clean creams from your brushes (foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, blush etc.). Since it is spendy I recommend using the Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray first with a brush pad. For those stubborn creams I will then use the Sephora Brush Cleaner and it works wonders to remove cream products.
  • Sephora Collection Cotton – Another staple I swear by. I do love the plush cotton from other brands, but this one is my most-repurchased one.

That wraps up my extensive makeup favorites roundup! Stay tuned for the roundup for other categories very soon! Use code EVERYTHING to save when shopping online, these are the details per tier:

  • All Sephora Collection 30% off: 10/31 – 11/10

Refy Lip Stick

October 25, 2025

Refy Lip Stick

Refy Beauty launched a new lip product called the Lip Stick ($28 each, available at Refy Beauty and Sephora). This is an innovative liquid lipstick in a unique twist up pen + roller ball type applicator. I was thrilled to partner with them to share a try-on of all shades on Instagram here but also wanted to share a blog post with more thoughts + swatches here.

These are a satin finish liquid lipstick with a sponge tip applicator. These are hydrating and creamy with a soft texture. The pigment is unique in the sense that you can achieve an almost entirely different color with 1-2 clicks of the pen vs 3-4 clicks. More clicks result in a deeper more opaque color.

The applicator tip has a pointed end so you can apply with precision around the edge of your lips. Formula is truly incredible. They’re smooth and apply easily just like you’d expect from a liquid lipstick but they don’t look dry. Lasting power is very good – they will stay put without migrating for hours, however they aren’t budge-proof or transfer proof.

Refy Lip Stick

Shades in this launch are bold and pull very dark. The colors are darker than shades I usually wear but I think there are some beautiful shades like Ruby or Maple I can wear for a more glam look. I hope they consider expanding the shade range because the formula is SO good – I am a huge fan of the tones in their Lip Sculpt and Lip Gloss line (review here) and I think shades like Oat, Blush, Taupe, Rosewood would incredible in this particular Lip Stick formula.

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025

YSL Beauty has some of the prettiest limited-edition packaging with their holiday collection this year! I picked up the Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette ($85) along with the new shades of Loveshine Plumping Lip Oil Gloss ($40) and Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick ($43).

Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025 Golden Oasis Palette

The Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette comes in a stunning limited-edition mirrored compact with six cheek colors. Three of the colors are shimmery highlighters, three are blushes with two shimmers and one matte. I think out of all the recent blush launches the YSL Make Me Blush formula is the best for the soft blendable texture and colors. Original review here. Having multiple shades in a palette is a beauty lover’s dream come true. You can see all the shades in action here.

A few of the colors are really similar to individual shades I own. The peachy shimmer resembles Restless Rose and the rose pink shimmer is really close to Nude Lavalliere.

Shades in this palette include a soft peachy gold shimmer, pale gold shimmer, pale iridescent pink sparkle, rose shimmer blush, deep magenta matte blush and warm copper gold shimmer.

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025 Golden Oasis Palette swatches

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025 Golden Oasis Palette Makeup Look

The highlighters are very shimmery so if you can’t wear high shimmer shades, I recommend opting for a different face palette.
I really love this one. I think it really does have everything you need for a holiday look and I love that you can also wear the shimmers on the eyes.

New Holiday Lip Colors

YSL Beauty Holiday 2025 Lips

There are two new shades of the Loveshine Plumping Lip Oil Gloss in 100 Sparkling Dream and 12 Honey Moon. I tried these earlier in the year and reviewed them here. I love the colors + shine but the plumping factor is extreme and the sting and tingle is overpowering for me. I decided to try these again anyways since the colors are SO beautiful but I still cannot wear them comfortably on the lips. I will say though that if I layer them on top of a lipstick, the lipstick underneath acts as a buffer and making the plumping gloss more bearable to wear. All shades swatched in this video here.

YSL Candy Glaze 21 Shimmer Nude

YSL Candy Glaze 22 Shimmer Rose

As a Candy Glaze lover I could not be more thrilled they launched new shades in this particular formula (original review here). 21 Shimmer Nude is a beautiful pale opalescent champagne beige shade but pulls very pale on my complexion. 22 Shimmer Rose is the one MUST-HAVE in my opinion. It’s such a stunning soft rose pink shade. It’s currently sold out online but I still highly recommend using the Buy Online Pick Up In Store option – it’s a great way to reserve the products online and pick them up at your convenience. I also use it to make sure my local store has things in stock before heading over in person. By popular request I pulled a few comparisons to other rose tones and other Candy Glaze shades. I really love that Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in 083 Sparkling Rose which is a slightly warmer version of the YSL 22 Shimmer Rose (but in gloss form).

YSL Rose Lip Swatches Candy Glaze

Overall love everything in this collection color-wise. I still cannot wear those plumping lip glosses but the colors are 10/10 stunning. If you pick up one thing from this launch though I do think that Candy Glaze 22 is the best one. I highly recommend adding these to your list for the upcoming Sephora Sale starting on the 31st for Rouge Members!

Merit Holiday Sets 2025

Merit Holiday Sets 2025

Merit Holiday Sets are here! I picked up the Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio ($39) and the Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set ($52). Both are available now at Sephora. You can see both in action here and here in case you want a live demo.

Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set

Merit Holiday Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set 2025

The Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set has three full-sized lip items with a new mauve shade called Archival. The set includes a Signature Lip Lightweight Lip Blush, Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner and the Tinted Lip Oil.

Merit Holiday Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set 2025 swatches

The pencil and lipstick both pull very cool toned on me. I wasn’t sure they would work for my skin and lip tone since most cool colors look greyish on me, but they work! And the gloss really pulls the entire look together.

Merit Holiday Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set 2025 swatches

The Merit Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner is very different from any other liner on the market. It’s almost like a glossy crayon in lipliner form. Unique for sure and nice for those who like a minimalist look. I love that they glide on the lips and have that glossy finish. Lasting power isn’t quite as long as a matte, but I think they’re really interesting.

The Lip Blush has a very lightweight feel, it’s a subtle kind of lip product but pigment is still very good. Texture is smooth even though it’s matte. This is very different from their other Signature Lipsticks. I tried their lipsticks a while ago when they launched and wasn’t a fan. They felt a little to waxy for my taste, but I might give them another look since so many of you love them. The new Lip Blush in this set is almost like a diffused matte lip tint instead of a regular lipstick. I’m still a glossy lip lover at heart, but I do like the texture and finish of the Lip Blush.

Lip Oils are nice for a subtle tint. These also pull on the sheer side for me but I really like them on top of a lipstick to add dimension and shine. They are very thin in texture so they’re not sticky. Also since the texture is thin they won’t have very long lasting power, but they do stay on longer when you pair them with a lipstick or liner.

I shared a demo of the lipliner and oils in this post here back in April. I don’t think I did a blog post on these so I swatched the shades I have so you can see the new Archival tones next to some of the existing colors.

Merit swatches

Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio

I’ve had such mixed feelings about the Merit cream blushes because they’re usually too dewy and sheer for my skin but so many of you asked for a review on this year’s Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio Set. This year has definitely been a transition year for me with our move, aging and skin changes and it’s been noticeably more dry. I’m still in the process of finding a dermatologist since we moved, but since it’s been more dry I can wear more creams.

Merit Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio

I think these are so cute but I still think they are too dewy and creamy for my taste. They’re fun for a pretty flush of color and if you’re into cream blushes that blend to a sheer tint or like that dewy look then I think you’ll really like them.

I will be able to wear these for a night out but will most likely have to top them with a powder blush to set. For a dewy cream blush I think the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Sticks are better. For something that isn’t quite as dewy the Victoria Beckham Cheeky Posh Cream Blush Sticks or Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks are better options (for me).

I really love the look with these blended out, I just wish they weren’t as dewy looking. A satin or semi matte finish would be 100% perfect for me.

If you’ve had your eye on these I hope this review is helpful! You can find these now at Sephora.

Hourglass Holiday 2025 Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palettes

September 19, 2025

Hourglass Holiday Palettes 2025

The Hourglass Holiday Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palettes have launched for 2025 this year and they are beautiful! I picked up three of the four and already put them to the test with demos on Instagram. While I do think there are a lot of repeats and similar shades I do think these are stunning. By popular request I’ve put together a review and a few side by side comparisons to previous year’s palettes.

All the palettes have officially launched now at Nordstrom, Sephora, Bluemercury, Ulta Beauty and Hourglass ($94 each). Each palette has a matching dual ended Ambient Lighting Edit Brush II ($52 each). The Horse Palette is exclusive to Sephora.

Hourglass Holiday Palettes 2025

In addition there are some other sets that have launched including a Face and Eye Travel Brush Set, Best Sellers Set and Sculpt Gloss Duo. I have my eye on the brush set although they look like minis or short handles from the stock photos. I do still have and own the Vegan Travel Brush Set (this one has all full sizes) which I love and use every week, but the new one this year looks great for a more compact option.

Deer Palette

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Deer Palette 2025

The Deer Palette is the lightest option and I think it’s a beautiful one for a more natural look. You can see it in action here. On my medium tan skin the colors pull more on the barely there side, but if I apply a cream or liquid blush first the powders apply with a bit more pigment when layered.

  • Finishing Powder Dream Light
  • Finishing Powder Aura Light (new)
  • Bronzer Diffused Bronze Light
  • Highlighter Iridescent Strobe Light
  • Blush Radiant Peach (new)
  • Blush Vibrant Pink (new)

Swan Palette

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Swan Palette 2025

The Swan Palette is the medium tone option and I love it. I do think all the shades look very similar to previous year’s options (even the new shades), but that mauve purple is SO beautiful I think this is worth a look. If I had to pick one to travel with this seems to give the most look options with the 3 different blush tones. You can see it in action here.

  • Finishing Powder Dim Light
  • Highlighter Golden Hour (new)
  • Bronzer Natural Bronze
  • Blush Luminous Coral (new)
  • Blush Sunset Flush (new)
  • Blush Mauve Fusion (new)

Horse Palette

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Horse Palette 2025

The Horse Palette and Brush are both exclusive to Sephora and has all repeat shades. I do think this is my favorite out of all three, but since it has all repeats you might want to shop your stash if you already own a lot of previous years’ palettes. You can see it in action here.

I was a little hard pressed to pick which one to compare this to, but decided to pull the swatches from Leopard 2023 but I do think there are probably others that the Horse 2025 palette is similar to given the repeats.

Hourglass Horse Palette vs Leopard

Overall love. I think the brushes are beautiful and so well made. Based on the feedback you’ve given me so far the consensus is mixed. Some of you are head over heels in love with the launch while others feel there are still too many repeats and similar shades. At this point I definitely do not need another one since I’ve collected the holiday launches for so many years. I still really look forward to the launches and do get a lot of use out of these. Palettes can be hard to love since there is usually one or two shades I am not crazy about, but with these I can say EVERY single shade is wearable. I love that you can mix and layer too. They’re really great for travel or if you need to throw something in your purse to do your makeup on-the-go.

I skipped the darkest palette Fox because the deepest ones are usually too dark for me. I have seen a lot of great tutorials which makes me want to check it out though. If I pick it up I’ll do another review.

The new Hourglass Palettes are all available now. You can find them at Nordstrom, Sephora, Bluemercury, Ulta Beauty and Hourglass.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Boutons

Chanel Les 4 Ombres Boutons

Chanel Beauty launched new limited-edition eyeshadow palettes called the Les 4 Ombres Boutons Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($86 each, Chanel and Nordstrom). They sold out quickly but just restocked online at Chanel. They’re also available at Nordstrom.

There are four variations each with such beautiful elegant embossing with button designs. As a long-time Chanel fan and beauty collector I bought all four and I think they are beautiful. They are on the softer side pigment-wise but I love the textures and finishes.

209 Boutons Mademoiselle is a peachy coral palette with a light warm pink, peachy shade, soft taupe and a diffused ivory shimmer. Wearing this coral quad with the Rouge Allure Liquid Velvet in 238 Emotive and Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Rose Radiant + Beige Eclatant mixed (blush review here). My foundation shade is still the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation in BD41.
