Happy Friday everyone! In the “what would you like to see” survey posted a few giveaways ago, an overwhelming number of you requested I do more haul posts. I tend to buy things in little bits here and there – with free shipping or affordable rush shipping, it’s easy to place several orders as I think about things rather than do a larger one-time haul. Sometimes I’ll see something in store and decide to wait and think about it and then a few days later I decide to buy it. July was a very pricey and spendy month due to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I already did two haul posts on my picks (here and here) – since it only happens once a year and there were so many good exclusives/value sets I could justify the extra haul. I also found a lot of little things at Sephora so I’ve combined my recent picks into a haul post.
Up first are Nordstrom picks, some are non-sale items:
My Nordstrom hauls, mostly from online orders:
- Antica Farmacista Santorini Reed Diffuser – I discovered the Acqua Reed Diffuser as shown in this home luxuries post and fell in love. Several of you told me there were a number of options on sale at Nordstrom. I bought five variations of the 8.5 oz version. I haven’t opened any of them yet – for those who use these, do you use one at a time completely before opening another one? Unlike candles, I suspect you can use for a little bit and store away since the reeds become completely soaked with the oils?
- Antica Farmacista Reed Diffuser in Bergamot and Ocean Aria because I love the body cream version of this scent.
- Ivanka Trump Ellyn Lace Up Sandals in Rich Chestnut suede are super comfortable and I found them to be true to size. The color is just a tiny bit darker than the stock photo but very close, heel is at 2.5 inches which makes them easy to walk in and 100% pain-free (at least for me).
- Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in Telluride is actually something I ordered from Sephora, but accidentally put it with the Nordstrom haul, it’s a luminous soft pink with a very pearly finish, full review next week.
- Louboutin Loubilaque in Akenana and Bikini (not on sale), based on the good performance I saw with the Rouge Louboutin Loubilaque, I decided to order a few other shades, I haven’t tested them on my lips yet because I swatched a number of other lip products the past couple of days and one item ruined my lips so I’m waiting for them to rebalance/recover.
- YSL Vinyl Lip Cream in 404, 407 and 412 are items I was really excited to try. I adore the Glossy Stains (reviewed here and here) and a cream version just sounded like a dream come true. 407 and 412 worked perfectly like a lightweight stain but in creamy form. 404 gave me a WTF moment – it was extremely streaky and for some reason turned my bottom lip bright red, almost like a reaction but there was no tingle, sting or odd feeling. It’s now about 24 hours after I lip swatched it and my lip is still red. I tried makeup remover, cleanser and a very gentle rub with a washcloth – it’s the oddest thing!
- Vince Camuto Drape Front Blazer is something I stalked the web for the anniversary sale, it went out of stock in Size 0 and 2 but restocked. I’ve been searching for a white blazer for a long time and this has a drapey flowy fabric that feels comfortable. It’s a tiny bit long in the arms for me, but fits the shoulders well – it will need minor alterations for me, but I really like it.
- Vince Camuto Feina Booties are items I ordered as well, my local store was sold out, but they found them for me and had them shipped to my home. This is the first time I’ve tried Vince Camuto boots so I don’t know how they size compared to other styles. The sales associate recommended I size down since in her experience they run big. Size 6 fits like a glove with room for thin socks.
- Hudson Nico Ankle Super Skinny Jeans are very comfortable and they fit like a glove. The fabric is thick enough to be sturdy but not stiff so these feel good to wear. I’m normally one who opts for Paige, but I was really pleased with these. The raw hem gives them an edgy look. As one who is short, these are the perfect length that I don’t need them hemmed.
A look at the Vince Camuto Drape Front Blazer (Size 2, for reference I’m 5’3″ and 125 pounds) and Hudson Nico Ankle Jeans (Size 27, sized the same as Paige and Citizens, I go up for Frame with 28s).

Shoes, left are the Ivanka Trump Ellyn Sandals, true to size 6.5, right are the Vince Camuto Feina Booties which I bought in a 6 based on the sales associate’s recommendation that they stretch out.

- Sephora Play! July box contents includes minis of Benefit Dew the Hoola, Ouai Wave Spray, Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer, First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser, NEST Citrine Perfume and Beautyblender Blottertazzi, I have yet to try everything in last month’s box, but Dew the Hoola is swatched here
- Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Peyote is a cool-toned neutral pink with a tiny bit of shimmer, it’s a great light pinky color that does last a long time
- Bare Minerals GEN NUDE Radiant Lipstick in Strip is a medium nude pink beige – finally balmy glossy lipsticks that have pigment! I picked up two shades (yes, they look almost identical) and love love love the way these feel and look, they’re effortless kinds of nude with the feel of Chanel Rouge Coco Shines but more pigment.
- Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Trance is a gorgeous pinky mauve shimmer, formula feels a bit thick and dry without a base but it does stay put on the lips, I’ll need to experiment more with bases on this one. It’s not drying, it just looks a bit dry if that makes sense.
- Bare Minerals GEN NUDE Radiant Lipstick in Honeybun is a nude beige tan cream.
- Formula X Color Curators in Makeup by Rose XOXO Edition in Mahhveous Rose, Puffin! and Acoustick Dreams, these look gorgeous for fall, I’ll have swatches of all three shades soon.
- Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation in Nude which is one shade darker than Warm Ivory but too dark for my skintone. Warm Ivory is a better match, but if I mix both shades the match is a 100% exact match.
- Kat Von D Lock-It Creme Concealer in M19 and M27 – I matched myself in store and can’t believe I braved using a tester on my face in store. When I applied it my skin was a bit dewy as it was late afternoon and hot. It blended to a flawless finish so I bought two shades. When I got home and tested it the following days I found it looked cakey and patchy under eyes on my regular skin. I’m still testing with other eye creams and primers as a base to see how best to make it work. I’m not ruling it out quite yet, I’m determined to put it to the full test as I really like her foundation.
- Becca Champagne Splits in Flowerchild and Champagne Pop – by this point I have Champagne Pop in all the forms possible and I do think it’s a bit overkill. The individual powder and poured cream (both swatched here) are my favorites. I definitely did not need it in a split pan with a blush, but what can I say – I think we all get sucked in sometimes by pretty packaging.
- NARS Sculpting Multiple Duos in all three options, review to follow as soon as I can!
- Formula X The System Xcel is something that just popped up online, I already own and use the original System (reviewed here a while ago), the Xcel set is designed for a gel-effect so I’m curious to see how it compares to the original!
- Beauty Insider Points minis

I won’t be reviewing everything in this haul in a separate posts, so here are lip swatches for reference. The Bare Minerals GEN Nude Matte Liquid Lipstick in Swag was one of the Beauty Insider minis (love the color, not a fan of the matte finish). Above Bare Minerals Strip and Honeybun look identical, on the lips you can see the difference. If you click to enlarge the photo you can see how patchy YSL 404 applied on my lips, especially on the lower lip.

The vice lipstick color is beautiful! I've also been hauling, I just bought the Anastasia Beauty Express For Brows and Eyes and MUFE full cover concealer. Really love the brow kit, but hated the concealer. The concealer covered nothing, which was surprising.
Last thing I got from Sephora was the Hourglass Vanish foundation stick, another Veil Primer (travel size), Korres Pomegranate Balancing Creme-Gel Moisturizer (for my recent East Coast visit—this is great for the humidity), and Korres hand cream. I also got a sample of the Estee Lauder new nude foundation and the Burberry Cashmere foundation (I already have the cashmere concealer and love it).
I was wondering more about the Sephora monthly box- do you like it thus far? I just did a mini haul from Nordstrom for 3 Burberry shadows: dusky mauve, rosewood and almond. Excited!
Hi Giulietta – I'm undecided about the monthly boxes. It's a relatively small price to test out new items each month, but since I already have a lot and have tested out a lot – I don't think it's necessary. I plan on keeping it about 4 more months before deciding whether or not to keep.

I definitely went a little crazy at the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I picked up some athletic wear, a few makeup bits and new winter boots!
The last things I got from Sephora was the Philosophy Microexfoliating cleanser. REally gentle, non-drying exfoliator that I use in the mornings.
I bought the Marc Jacobs Instamarc contour powder and one of the new Bareminerals glosses. Love both!

My last haul from Sephora was just a mini haul, I got a new beautyblender and some lip glosses.
In my last Sephora haul I picked up my second bottle of the PTR Glycolic Acic 10% Hydrating gel, Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Babe Alert and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara.
All I bought from the Nordstrom sale was more Zella leggings-simply the best!
The last thing I hauled from sephora was a too faced melted lipstick in peony and the origins plantscription eye cream.
My last haul included Makeup Forever foundation and Better Than Sex mascara! 🙂

I've been pretty good at limiting my hauling lately, and the last thing I purchased from Sephora was actually a Nest fragrance for my mother's birthday. She got a nice surprise gift, I got a mini eye cream with points. Win win. 🙂

Based on your recommendation, I'm thinking of the VC Feina Boots…did you find that they stretched?
Hi Anonymous – unfortunately I haven't had them long enough to see how much they will stretch. Stretching usually takes at least 2-3 weeks of wear. I did wear them all day for one day and they were a bit snug, but they did not hurt my feet.
I got one of the new Rodin lipsticks (Billie on the Bike) and the Aerin lip balm from Nordstrom — but neither were part of the sale. I did get the Barefoot Dreams circle cardigan from the sale, though!
The last thing I bought from Sephora was the set of Clean perfume rollerballs.

Sephore opened in Sydney about a year ago and it was *amazing*. We are all so excited to have so many brands at our fingertips now! Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop Eye Stick in both Leila and Au Revoir and I love them both. Christy

Ended up starting my Christmas shopping early at the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Hauled a lot of Voluspa and Archipelago candles for gifts… and the Jo Malone fragrance set for me 🙂
YSL Vinyl Creams have a similar feel and texture to the Glossy Stains, coverage is fuller with the exception of the 404 which is a nightmare on my lips.
I love your pictures, they make all of the products look beautiful. The last thing I ordered from Nordstrom was the Lush V Neck Crepe blouse. It is gorgeous on and I was able to snag one in the bright coralish lollipop color when it popped back into stock.

Yes – Paige stays up better, J brand has a good fit but I always need a belt with them.

I am still waffling about a pair of Inola booties on the Nordstrom sale page. From Sephora I bought brush cleanser, the rouge volupte in Beige Blouse and the new Hourglass foundation.
I've been going a little nuts at Nordstrom's Beauty this year. I just got my Revitalash primer and black mascara as well as their special duo Revitalash Eyelash Serum, which I'm still waiting for. However, I think I'm going to have to get the New MorroccanOil Product, it's an orangey bottle, to put on hair before blowing it out for super shiny, soft hair with no frizz. There's a new Nordstrom's Exclusive Dior Eyeshadow Palette that's calling my name & I'm sure this weekend, as the sale gets wrapped up, they'll be having more beauty sales. From Nordstrom I got born flats which are really comfy, a long halogen open front cardigan in a deep berry shade that will be perfect for fall, leggings, and charlotte tilbury hot lips in super cindy, which has quickly become my new favorite lipstick!
Loved the haul! The last thing I purchase was an eye cream from Nordstrom and a Peter Thomas Roth mask from Sephora. Really excited about the review for the Nars duos, the look amazing!

I picked up the Nars blush palette during thd nords sale. Very happy i did. I have very dry lips so i am more interested in the Gen Nude lipsticks than the mattes.
I jumped on the new Formula X polishes. They may be my favorite three polish colors ever for fall.

I just bought one of the new Nars Hardwired Eyeshadows from Sephora.
I picked up the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black set from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and a much-needed eye/lip pencil sharpener at Sephora.
I hope you will continue posting more hauls like this with some first impressions on the beauty items. My last purchases from Sephora were Kat Von D's Shade & Light Eye and Contouring palettes and the Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black and White Rollerball duos.
I just got a pair of Quay Australia sunglasses from Nordstrom. From Sephora, I tried a new sea salt spray and the Mara Hoffman lipglosses. 🙂
Nordstroms always rocks! I purchased a beautiful open toed woven looking black suede ankle bootie by Vince Cumuto & a flat Iron by ghd to make my hair look great. Sephora! Sephora!Sephora! A girls candy store, I came home with smashbox photo finish primer, to lock my makeup look for longer time throughout the day, their insta matte, to make any cream lipstick matte. Neat thing is you can also put it on any long lasting or matte lipstick to make it feel creamy without compromising your matte lip…. Wwwhhheewww soun like an add 😀
For the nordies sale I only got one beauty item and that is new MAC eyeshadow matte palette. I also picked up UGG sandals that were on sale and are incredibly comfy.
I can't wait for your review of NArs sculpting duos. Been eyeing them for a while. I also got one of the BB new highglihters but I got sunset glow. Telluride was too dark for me.
The last thing I hauled from Nordstrom was the kiehls ultra facial moisturizer!!
I got the Paula's Choice BHA set from Nordstrom. I love that stuff, and it was a great price.
My last Sephora purchase was several Buxom full-on lip creams. My fave is Kir Royale!
I just placed my final (?) order. Returned a few items, but I think my "keeps" include 2 bras, the Diptyque candle set, one pair of booties, 1 pair of sunglasses, 1 PJ set.
The white blazer and boots are SO pretty! The last thing I got from Sephora were actually some of the own brand's sleeping masks. I really like the one with honey in particular!
Love those gen nude lipsticks! Will have to check them out. I just purchased the Hourglass Femme Rouge lipstick in Fresco – also love the color. Purchased Givenchy Acti'mine Color Correcting primer too in kiwi for redness. Haven't tried it yet but hopeful based on reviews!

Love the Antica Farmacista Santorini fragrance! Usually every year, Nordstrom has the hand soap on sale and I stock up. Unfortunately this year, no hand soap. boo hoo… That's ok, I made up in 3 new tops, new Eileen Fisher booties that I love! and a new necklace.
Ah I got the Hudson Nico jeans too! They are so damn comfy – even though it's blazing hot here in NYC, I can't wait to wear them in the fall with cute booties. Those Ivanka Trump sandals are so cute, thanks for the recommendation, definitely going to check them out 😀

My last thing I got from Nordstrom was a black shirt with black and white chiffon inserts… it's adorable and it was on the clearance rack to boot. One of my favorite shirts.

Apropos reed diffusers, no they are not like candles that you use off and on. Once you break the seal on the bottle, the scent begins interacting with the air and very gradually begins breaking down. Open your bottle (you bought the perfect size), stick those reeds in and enjoy the beautiful scent until the bottle is empty. It will last for several months. Every week, flip the reeds to renew the scent. I love these for bathrooms and bedrooms and select the scent depending on who will be using the room the most. As for your Ocean Aria, I tried that one last spring and thought it was very disappointing. I love the scent, but it doesn't have much throw and I had to flip the reeds every few days to keep the scent going in my husband's bathroom. Finally I gave up and moved it to the powder room. It did much better in a much smaller room. Most of AF's scents can easily fill a room with fragrance and so I was surprised by Ocean Aria's poor performance.

Oops, I forgot to say what I purchased from Nordstrom during the sale! Of the items on sale, I purchased Antica Farmacista reed diffusers, Lancôme Tonique Confort (special large size) and Natori Feathers bras. I bought some other things, too, but they weren't on sale not were they special anniversary items.
My last haul was one of the Nordie's LE anniversary palettes. So glad I got it!
Great haul!! Last thing I hauled was the entire NARS summer 16 color collection, as well as the new liquid Laguna, and two of the new NARS multiples.

– BareMinerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipstick in XYZ: mousse-y and very comfortable to wear, not as long-wearing as other liquid lipsticks in the market
– Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bombshell: this is going back, the formula didn't really work for me, it emphasized my lip lines like I was a million years old
– Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Liar: it is so creamy!
– Becca Split Pan in Amaretto and Prosecco Pop: I'm in love with this!

I went in to Sephora looking for a gentle eye makeup remover…decided on Makeup Forevers to try. But I don't have a lot of their products so I was like, if I'm going in, then I'm going in! I picked up some of the new eyeliners and decided I'd get a new brow pencil from them too since I needed on in a lighter shade now. Then the 500 point perk was MUFE too and so I snatched it up too, especially since it actually contained 5 products, and a bonus foundation sample. Then I bought like 10 other unnecessary things too. Ahh!

That is seriously concerning about the YSL Vinyl Lip cream and the one swatch is horribly streaky. They may need to do some serious reformulating. I love and have so many of the glossy stains and rouge voluptes so I was hoping these would be great, but it does not appear that way.
