Le Redouté joins the 34 Collection in two forms. I purchased the marbled porcelain jar version for $85. All of these are hand-crafted using the “terre mêlée” (mixed clay) technique which makes every piece is unique. It also comes in a pillar format which retails for $75 + $150 for a photophore (these are exclusive to the boutiques). Le Redouté is a cinnamon potpourri mix. It’s described as having cinnamon, clove, orange roses, cedar and amber. This one is also quite strong and fills the entire room within seconds. In this one it is primarily cinnamon which I think has more of a holiday feel. In Southern California we usually have sunny weather year-round, right now it hardly feels like fall. I’ve really enjoyed Le Redouté but will probably be burning it later in the season.
Diptyque has released a number of new candles for fall. I picked up Vanille ($60 for 190g/6.5 oz) and Le Redouté ($85 for 220g/7.3 oz) early last month. I’ve been burning each for a few weeks now and have completely fallen in love with both.
Vanille is a smokey vanilla that has a slight wood-like feel. It has a smokey vibe similar to Feu De Bois but not quite as dark. The candle is described by Diptyque as a “vanilla orchid” that “gradually gives way to the intensity of the pod … spices take precedence, blending with sandalwood and elemi to reveal a balsamy Bourbon Vanilla with smooth and woody accents.” When I first opened Vanille, it was primarily smokey, just like firewood, but after letting it breathe for a while it turned into a smooth warm vanilla scent. I’m a huge fan of vanilla scents in general, but finding a good one is difficult. I don’t like the ones that are super sweet. To date, my favorite is Henri Bendel Vanilla Bean because it’s the best smelling warm vanilla. Diptyque’s Vanille is more complex with an obvious firewood mix that makes it very unique. The scent is one of the stronger ones from Diptyque, I find it has a super smooth burn that feels just like fall. I really like Vanille, I think it’s for the vanilla-lover who doesn’t like super sweet vanilla scents.
A quick look at the new fall items from Diptyque at the South Coast Plaza boutique. The three pillars are exclusive to the stores and Diptyqueparis.com, there are three photophores to purchase in addition to the pillars but they didn’t have any on display at the time I went. There is also a larger version of Ambre in the colored glass jar.
Both Vanille and Le Redouté are beautiful home scents for fall. I’m particularly smitten with Vanille and will bring out Le Redouté later in the season. There is another vanilla candle called Benjoin which is an online exclusive, I expect to receive it soon and will make a comparison once it arrives. Do you have any favorite home scents for fall? Have you checked out any of the new offerings from Diptyque?

Where is your lighter from?! I've been looking for a nice one for a long time and yours looks great! Thank you!
SpaceNK sells a nice, refillable, candle lighter for $15
Hi, the one I have is a Zippo which I found in store at Henri Bendel, I didn't see it online. It's the brown style shown on the Zippo website:

Great, thank you!
My favorite during the cooler months (if they ever come to So Cal!) is Ambre, but it sounds like I should purchase Vanille to go with it. Amber and vanilla is such a classic combination. I usually alternate scents or use different scents in different parts of the house. I love moving in and out of various complimentary fragrances and, of course, there is that delightful sweet spot where they merge. It's hard to go wrong with Diptyque.
I'm a florals girl. Diptyque Mimosa or Diptyque Jasmine downstatirs, Diptyque Freesia or Jo Malone Wild Bluebell upstairs. At Christmas I put these all away and have a mixture of Diptyque Epinette or Jo Malone Blue Spruce and Pine & Eucalyptus Candle and Diffuser. Although I am intrigued by Jo Malone's Cherry & Clove for this Christmas! My all time favourite Christmas Candle is Diptyque Epinette and I have none left so I will on the hunt on ebay this year. I have tried nearly every candle in Diptyque and every Jo Malone but I always find my self wishing most would burn through so I can get back to my beloved Mimosa, Jasmine and Wild Bluebell. They make the house smell so feminine and fresh no matter what the weather is doing outside and no matter what my dog has rolled in that day! Xx
Being a candle lover can I just recommend that your readers Sarbrina do invest in a wick trimmer? They will make sure you get the most mileage out of your candles and that you get real good value for money because as we know these candles can be quite a large investment. You must get your money's worth. On a couple of occasions I have had replacements from Jo Malone when the candle has not burned equally despite being trimmed and snuffed which apparently is due to the wick not being centred properly before the wax is poured. Wick trimmers are available from both Jo Malone and Diptyque very reasonably priced. I know Diptyque also have a snuffer but I'm not sure Jo Malone does.
Mmm..I'm very intrigued. I've been enjoying my first-ever round of Dyptique candles:) I just burned a SpaceNK branded candle that is nice & very different; these also burn very well with great throw. I should add, they sell a fabulous, sleek, refillable candle lighter for $15!
Hi Sabrina,
I'm wondering if you could let me know (or possibly do a post on) 1) which dip tuque candles have the best throw / fill up a large space with scent very easily and 2) which diptyque scents you would most recommend for fall / winter. I haven't ever tried Diptyque but plan on taking the plunge soon! Since it seems like scent in the jar can vary from actual scent when burned, I would love to get your intelligence on this!
Thanks!
The marble looking design on the jar is so beautiful!

I have Vanille and love it. Can't wait to hear what you think of Benjoin!
Eeeee I absolutely can't wait to hear your thoughts on Benjoin! I got both Vanille and Le Redoute a few weeks ago as well but have only had a chance to burn Vanille so far (it's been crazy and I like to give myself a good four hours for a first burn) but I've just been enjoying the phenomenal wafting from the unburned candles. I pretty much love all their candles but their recent offerings have been so stellar. I will probably get Benjoin too…. ^^;;
Love Vanilla and Gardenia candles!!
Lots of love, xx
