Lancome Erika F Eyeshadow

March 1, 2010

I was finally able to jump on the Lancome Erika F bandwagon which was possible thanks to my UK blogger contact (thank you a million times over again). It is even more gorgeous than I had imagined. I’ve seen it described a number of ways – so I was really curious to see what it looked like in real life. I’ve read it described as a lovely taupe – but to me, it’s more of a silvery greenish shade rather than a taupe. To me it’s a complex silvery green sparkle with maybe the slightest hint of taupe. Maybe it’s just my skintone, but I find Stila’s Diamond Lil to be green and I know many disagree with me.

The Lancome Erika F is very unique and the pigment is superb. I haven’t been a huge fan of Lancome eyeshadows, but this one has definitely changed my mind. Now if only they would release this formula & packaging in the US!

I pulled out my other greenish-taupe-silver shadows to see how it compared. Here it is compared to Benefit Where’s the Smoke, MAC Greensmoke, Paul & Joe #18, Bobbi Brown Pewter Chrome & Stila Diamond Lil. I feel that the Lancome Erika F is truly unique!

Swatches on bare skin (note again, please take swatches with a grain of salt, I have a light-medium complexion, if your skintone is different from mine, of course this will look different on you, and also, I’d like to point out again that my swatches are not the best):

Two more views of swatches, same order, different lighting:

Anyone else have this shade? What other colors do you use to compliment this color? I need inspirational ideas!

I want to thank you again for everyone who submitted feedback in my recent survey. Next week I will be doing a series on reader requests, focusing particularly the topics that received at least 3 or more mentions.

You are so lucky to have scored that shadow! If I only I had a UK connection! It's a great shadow to add to your collection.

I was on a quest for this less than a month ago & found it on Evecare.com (via Amazon.com). I guess I got lucky, because when I checked just now it is marked as Out of Stock. 🙁 But perhaps they will get some in again? It is a great color, so pretty — I use it alone with dark gel eyeliner or MAC feline smudged out. Haven't gotten more creative than that – yet!

    Wow, it really is gorgeous!

For the record, I love your swatches. =P

I think you have top notch swatches!! 🙂 And I love your color comparisons! Very helpful esp in cases like this where the color isn't readily available:)

*covers eyes* ahh taupes are my weakness! and your swatches are amazing 🙂

Hi Sabrina. First off, please don't ever apologize for your swatches. You do a wonderful job especially with the comparisons.

You're not the only one who thinks its green. Pink Sith described it as ". . .grayish-silver-sparkly-green. . ." and as "Greenish Taupe!" You can see her post by clicking on her Lancome link. Her review of it was on Jan. 21, 2009. She has some swatches (not nearly as comprehensive as yours) and a couple of pictures of it on her eyes. It's really lovely!

I picked this up on my last biz trip and I actually just wore it today! For a soft, pretty look, I like wearing it with lavender or pink. Today, I wore it with LM Metallic Creme e/s in Mercury and MAC Eye Kohl in Tarnish.
For a more neutral look, I use LM Metallic Eye Creme e/s in Platinum as a base and finish with Shu ME Brown e/l. I've also paired it with P&J eye gloss 02 and gold e/s with BB Bronze gel liner.
For a smokey look, I wear it over a black cream e/s base. It's actually a very versatile e/s!

I 2nd Eileen's comment: don't you dare ever apologize for your swatches! They're fantastic, Sabrina, and you do us a service by being the "eyes" for those of us who can't get to see things in person 🙂 Don't you know you rock, girl? 😉

2ndly … LUCKY! Erika F is SO pretty, but I'll be happy knowing that my BB Pewter Chrome e/s is not too far off!

Oh my god, this eyeshadow looks gorgeous! I'm a big fan of greenish-taupe-silver shades myself. This reminds me of my Bobbi Brown Chrome eyeshadow in Pewter.

I must check this out at the Lancome counter now! Hehe… 😉

I agree with Catherine – your swatches are fantastic!

i have CPed many Lancom Erika F for beauty friends. It is indeed one of the most unique colours of all Lancome eye shadows. For those who don't want to buy a single, you can find this colour in many Lancome quads too. But they are of course all Euro versions. I personally prefer the Euro Lancome products than the US ones, which just don't have that extra zing!

    Oh man. Isn't Erika F a winner?
I love it and yes. it looks different on different people but I think your swatches are excellent.

I use erika f all on it's own as a wash of color or I pair it with a cool toned olive green from Shu (I forget the number) in the crease and as a liner. I have also used BB Bash as a crease color with it, since bash pulls almost teal on me.
Lastly I have found that this shadow benefits from layering more than one coat (My pics on my blog are very light and I wish I had taken better pics of it)
But thank you for an excellent review and great comparison.
