Tom Ford Beauty Soleil Color Collection for Summer 2016 – Sneak Peek + Swatches

March 31, 2016

Tom Ford just launched their summer beauty items in the Soleil Color Collection and it’s absolutely breathtaking. Everything is cased in the white and gold packaging for this season with new formulas for lips and beautiful items for the skin and cheeks. I have a quick sneak peek and wanted to list all the items that are available for reference. I received some press samples and purchased additional items to review which made a serious dent in my bank account but I don’t mind one bit because everything is gorgeous. Personal first impressions are all very good. Some items that were limited-edition in previous seasons have been repromoted this season such as the Cream and Powder Eye Duos, Pink Sand Cream Blush and Firelust Skin Illuminator. Also on a great note is that Tom Ford Beauty has now launched online at Sephora (yay!). The items in this year’s Soleil Color Collection:
Also not part of the color collection, but the Soleil Blanc Eau de Parfum and Shimmering Body Oil (previously reviewed here with other spring launches) have launched at all retailers (it was an early exclusive to Neiman Marcus for a while). Several of you have asked if this year’s oil is the same as last year’s – it unfortunately is not and I find this year’s version a bit sticky/tacky. I personally would recommend you skip the oil.

Quick swatches of what I have including some of the repromotes. Note I don’t have the entire summer collection swatched but here is what I have:

Fire Lust Skin Illuminator (press sample)
Pink Sand Cream Blush
Pieno Sole Cream Blush
Bicoastal Sheer Cheek Duo (press sample)

Gold Dust Bronzer
Terra Bronzer
Bronze Age (press sample)
Soleil Contouring Compact

Moisturecore Lip Color in Scandola
Moisturecore Lip Color in Carriacou (press sample)
Moisturecore Lip Color in Mustique (press sample)
Moisturecore Lip Color in  Pipa (press sample)
Moisturecore Lip Color in Cala Di Volpe (press sample)
Moisturecore Lip Color in Otranto
Ultra-Rich Lip in Les Mepris (press sample)
Ultra-Rich Lip in Temptation Waits (press sample)
Ultra-Rich Lip in Revolve Around Me (press sample)
Ultra-Rich Lip in Solar Affair (press sample)

Cream & Powder Duos in Golden Peach and Naked Bronze (original review here):

Most of the summer collection has launched in stores and online. The only item that is a bit hard to find right now is the Bicoastal Sheer Cheek Duo which is on backorder at many places. I bought some of my items (non-press samples) from Nordstrom. The collection is also available online at Sephora, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue

Stay tuned for individual reviews! I hope to have the Ultra-Rich Lip Color review up later this afternoon!

Some items featured include press samples and others purchased by me. Press samples indicated above next to the swatches.

  • I spoke to my Tom Ford SA and they're saying that the reason why Bicoastal is not available right now is because the products are being shipped out of Brussels. She said she doesn't know when they will be available, but I have mine on pre-order so hopefully it should be soon!

Thanks for your swatches, damn now I feel like I need Les Mepris.. even though I just bought myself Paradiso.

    • Hi Sheila – thanks for the info! I hope they do arrive soon – just played with it and it's definitely a winner.

  • I have to say, I'm absolutely smitten with everything in this collection; the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! Is there one thing that you think is a must have? I'm leaning towards the compact trio as it looks like the perfect travel piece

    • It's so hard to pick just one item. I do think the Contouring Trio is probably the most amazing item in the collection. If you don't have Fire Lust I think it's a beautiful liquid highlighter.

  • Thanks for the swatches! I'm sure your review of Bicoastal is coming, but do you have the NARS dual intensity blush in Adoration to compare to it?

  • The prices scare me, but goodness it's all so beautiful! I'm considering taking the plunge on fire lust – last summer I had a sample of the illuminators from Nars – orgasm and I can't remember the other color. I'm curious if you'd recommend the Nars formula over the TF? Thanks Sabrina!

    • Prices scare me too but I think everything is worth the splurge. To date there have been only 2 TF disappointments for me (the SS16 Lip Shine and this year's Shimmering Body Oil) – the summer collection is so gorgeous.

I have had the NARS Orgasm Illuminator (I don't own it anymore) but the TF is by far way better than the NARS. The finish of the TF is smoother and adds the prettiest glow. For NARS Orgasm I think the powder blush version is the best formula for that color.

    • Did you ever try the Ombrรฉs from last Autumn Sabrina?…..I think they were the worst ever TF product. They even got discounted to half price in the New Year Sales. I have never seen TF get reviews as bad as they got. But yes SS16 Lip Shine was a horror too. Like doing your lips with concealer. Luckily my TF Angel stopped me putting either in my 'shopping basket'. And when your Sales Advisor does that you know they've got to be bad. Xx

  • I keep my eyes out for the Tom Ford summer collection every year because I know the products are always amazing and they also come in the gorgeous white packaging! Definitely will check out the moisturecore lippies. And I am so glad that I caved in and got the shimmering body oil last year! I haven't actually tried this year's shimmering body oil but packaging wise I definitely prefer last year's bottle! xx

    • I'm glad you got last year's oil too – it smells different and feels so much nicer on the skin. The Soleil Blanc fragrance is to die for though!

  • We've still got four more weeks to go in UK unto launch but my shopping list is nearly everything!!!! I sent my pre-order to my TF Angel this morning and am glad to see my choices look even more spectacular in your post Sabrina. I have also chosen Ultra Lip Colour's in Aphrodite & Purple Noon. and the Radiant Skin Soufflรฉ. A vast spend this summer but I have cut back enormously on other brands so that I can justify going bananas with this collection because it has left me breathless with excitement. I cannot think of any other brand that excites me so much and has me three months before a launch searching the Internet for what's coming down the track so I can plan what I am going to buy on launch day. That white retro packaging gets me every time! Damn you Tom why do you have to make the whole range so spectacular. The only things I don't have to get are the new shade bronzer as it's too dark for me, and the repromotes of last year's Eye Creams and Lip Shines as I still have masses left. Fire Lust has to replaced but I just have to have those all those new compacts and new lip colours. Thank goodness I didn't like the new scent, Soleil Blanc…..I cannot do Cardamon in anything. Glorious pictures of glorious product Sabrina. Xxx

    • Hi Amanda – everything is really stunning this launch. I have yet to see what other brands are launching for summer as it's still early but I do feel that TF Soleil is phenomenal!

    • Burberry has a gorgeous compact coming for Summer. Charlotte Tilbury has the very NARS like Cheek Studio launching in a couple of weeks plus a whole new range of lip colours in the Summer. Chanel Summer…..Meh. But I do want to try the gel polish formula when it lands. But for me it's all about Tom Ford. Xxx

  • Oh and just to add…..I have also selected the Bronzing Primer Resort to Pleasure too. As the saying goes here in UK 'In for a penny, in for a pound'. Except my splurge is going to cost more than pennies or a few pounds but if you can't go wild with Tom in the Summer when can you do it? It will be like Christmas Day on launch day for me……sleepless the night before with excitement and then the actual launch day trance like playing with my new toys! I guess you all get I'm a bit of a Tom Ford obsessive? Xxxxxx

    • Would love your thoughts on the Bronzing Primer when you get it! I have been debating whether or not to purchase but I'm not sure how I feel about applying bronzer all over the face even if it is a primer.

    • That is my only concern Sabrina. But now I have Melasma, my face never ever goes in the sun. Trying to recreate a lightly tanned face to match my body is a real challenge. My TF Angel also said the soufflรฉ is the most gorgeous thing she's every used but not to wear it with the primer as anything that goes on after just slides off. TBH I thought if it doesn't work, the Primer that is, I would give it to my Mum who travels a lot and does go in the sun. Trouble is with tanning when you have a skin condition is you do go patchy so a primer that evens out skin tone before you start work on other make up would be a fabulous addition. Even with SPF30 and a hat, just the heat accentuates the Melasma but I need sunshine for vitamin D and there is no other way to walk the dog. But I love my TF primers in Pink Glow and Natural. Deciaions, decisions …….xxx

  • Deb

I pre-ordered three of the Moisturecore lipsticks and received them a couple of days ago. I was very excited to try them because I just can't do mattes. To my chagrin I did not find these moisturizing in the least. I keep my lips in good condition and I prepped them prior to trying these out. They weren't awful, but are somewhat drying. Curious to know what you think after trying them out.

    • So sorry to hear that Deb! I've been playing with them and they did not dry out my lips. I will have a full review soon but will say that at first swipe they felt a bit dry (from a fresh brand new tube). The first one I tested was Mustique and it looked a bit dry and patchy but I let it set for a few minutes and it adjusted to the most beautiful pale pink.

This may sound weird but I think once you use them and remove the initial top layer they feel better on the lips. I thought most of them had a semi-dry feel with the first swipe.

    • Deb

Thanks Sabrina, good feedback. I didn't really think of that. I'll go back and reapply all of them a few more times.

  • Wow! This collection is simply gorgeous! I really wish I had the money to splurge on Tom Ford at the moment but it's just too pricey for me… There's so many things from Tom Ford that I'm lusting for! x

Tom Ford Beauty Summer collections are the ones I look forward to most each year. I cannot wait for my order to arrive (The Afternooner, Bi-Coastal and Golden Peach). I'm really curious to see the comparison between Stroked and Bi-Coastal. Such lovely pictures and round up – thank you! – Zeynep

    • Interesting! I didn't think Stroked and Bi-Coastal were similar enough to compare. Would love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives!

  • I'm excited that it's at Sephora, I think of everything I like the Bicostal blush so I'll wait it out. I still have my Terra bronzer from last year which is the best tone for me so I'm sticking with it.

    • I'm excited about the Sephora launch too ๐Ÿ™‚ Terra is one of the best cool-toned bronzers I've tried based on the new ones if you love Terra then I will confirm your decision is indeed a good one ๐Ÿ™‚ Stick with the one that works ๐Ÿ™‚

  • What a stunning collection! I have yet to try a Tom Ford product yet, but their lipsticks in particular always look like such must-haves. x

    • Oh my – you should definitely treat yourself!

  • Amazing !! I would love to have this collection! http://www.sofarsosabine.com

  • Do you think you'll get the radiant moisture soufflรฉ? I'm curious about it but it's splurge, unless it's more or less a moisturizer replacement, then it's not so bad!

    • Hi Stephanie – I just bought the Moisture Souffle and have been using it as a regular moisturizer. I would say it's a good basic moisturizer that's hydrating but not too rich. I will have a full review in the next week.

  • Firelust is pretty amazing!

  • Serena – thank you these are so timely to maximize triple points at NM! Like others, am interested in your thoughts on the soufflรฉ? Thanks too for the note on the oil, I love last years and have only used a small portion so it's good to not think about splurging for that :).

    • I think the Moisture Souffle is a good basic moisturizer for my normal skin. It seems to add just enough hydration and smooth the skin to prep for makeup. I'll have a review up next week. I'm happy with mine and glad that I bought it, but if you have super dry skin I'm not sure that it will have enough moisture.

  • Oops, sorry, Sabrina!

As you have all of the moisturecore lip color's, can I ask which one you think the model is wearing on the promotion video/photo's?
