My Neiman Marcus finally received this instore! This is Sylvie’s Personal Palette and retails for $72. It so pretty I don’t want to use it to ruin the surface (the iridescence is the overspray).
For actual swatches, check out Karla Sugar’s awesome Blog. FYI Neiman Marcus has their Beauty Event starting next week so if there are more Chantecaille items, this is a good time to take advantage of the gift. I couldn’t think of more things to get so I decided to pick the palette up yesterday instead of waiting for the event. The gift with purchase for the line is:
They will be having two more incircle events for this year in October/November and December.
1. Paul & Joe Pearl Powder 01 2. Nars Cyprus 3. Benefit Fawn Over Me 4. Dior Beige Print 5. MAC Deckchair 6. Shu Uemura P Brown 820 7. Dior Beige Sunshine 8. MAC Femme-Fi 9. Bobbi Brown Beige Shimmer Wash

Every year Bobbi Brown releases some exclusive seasonal items at Neiman Marcus several times a year and more recently also at Saks and Nordstrom. I have some details about these exclusive collection items:
Saks is having their beauty event at the end of the month called Bounty of Beauty. Each line has something exclusive to the store – I’m in the process of getting more info, but Laura Mercier has a baked eyeshadow palette with brushes, Armani has a special size of their Crema Nera etc.
Saks Bobbi Brown has a limited edition Black Fawn set which retails for $100 and includes: * Black-plum metallic leather zip case * 4 pan palette with full sized Ivory Eyeshadow, Fawn Shimmerwash, Powder Pink Pot Rouge, and exclusive Paisley Rose Lipgloss * 3 mini brushes: eyeshader, eyeshadow, and lip
Neiman Marcus & Bergdorf Goodman have some more exciting exclusives which include:
Black Plum Deluxe Brush Set (brushes featuring a new black handle, forgot the brushes in the set and the price, but probably in the $200 range)
Black Plum Collection Set $245 which contains: * 9 pan dark-silver palette (gorgeous) with full sizes in Navajo Eyeshadow (matte), Ash Shimmerwash Eyeshadow, Deep Plum Eyeshadow (matte & exclusive), Natural Bronzer (size of the blushes), Washed Rose Blush, Plum Blush, Brown Lip Color, Rose Petal Creamy Lip Color, Pink Chandelier Lip Gloss (repromote from their party collection) * black plum metallic zip portfolio pouch * short handled (but not mini) black handled brushes: bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip, and one more I can’t remember
These are the items in the set (palette and case not pictured):
I saw the Black Plum Set today and it’s absolutely stunning, but I already have most of the colors! The brushes won’t be in for another month. The counter near me only received 6 sets and had already sold 2. Their gift for beauty week on the 10th is a full sized Navajo Metallic eyeshadow, .24 oz Crystal Lipgloss, .1 oz Everything Mascara, and a .24 oz Hydrating Eye Cream.
They will be having Incircle Gifts in October & December as well.
I haven’t called Bergdorf to check on their event dates or gifts. But here is a scan of the set from their fall catalog.
Later in October, Neimans will receive three mini shimmer bricks in Sandstone, Nectar and Plum – the catalog stated they retail for $50 and we couldn’t discern whether it was a set or if the prices were individual. Anyone have any details? There are also 3 new exclusive lipsticks coming out
None of these sets are online yet. I do not know if they will be released online. Your best bet to purchase these would be to call your local Neimans or Bergdorfs to place an order or to put one on hold.
Received another goodie in the mail yesterday from Sephora.com along with my new shadows which is the DiorShow Black Out Look set which basically their Black Out Mascara that comes in a soft black tied pouch and a mini iridescent quint of Smoky Light 019. The set retails for $24 so you basically get that cute quint for free.
I’m a huge fan of Dior Mascaras, I actually prefer Iconic and DiorShow, but couldn’t pass on this cute quint.
I have seen this on various e-bay international seller auctions and have been looking all over to see if they have this quint in a full size, but I believe it’s only in the mini size right now. I haven’t had a chance to test it out, but it seems like what I wanted Sky Glow to be (that is the quint minus that powder blue shade which I know I will never wear).
Has anyone seen this in full size or know any other details? I think I would be in heaven if this came out in full size, even more so than when they released the Leather Palette for Eyes and Iridescent Leather quint.
* Due to the uber-tiny size of this, I probably won’t be swatching the palette. Thanks for understanding!
Dior just released a collection of single eyeshadows in a new formula called “1-Couleur Ultra-Smooth High Impact Eyeshadow,” retailing for $27.50. Dior released a few in the new formula in Argentic 056 & Trendy Taupe 066 with their fall 2009 Jazz Club collection in the US.
I bought these from Sephora.com because of the “ONLY AT SEPHORA” note beside each shade, but it seems like Sephora simply received the new eyeshadows first (similar to the release of the reformulated Addict Lip Color where they received the lipsticks first before other retailers like Nordstrom & Bloomingdales) since today, I now see the shades available at Nordstrom.com.
Nordstrom.com describes the product saying, “Dior takes shadow play to extremes with Color Extreme powder eyeshadow singles. Maximum color. Maximum wear. In a single sweep they’re on to stay for hours. The new innovative eyeshadow uses a new Japanese slurry powder process to create a formula that delivers maximum color payoff and extreme hold in just one coat.”
Sephora.com has decent product photos and color descriptions.
I ended up purchasing two of the shades Bronzy Night 486 and Beige Print 626. I had purchased Argentic 056 when the fall collection came out.
Additional product photos, swatches and scans/pictures from various magazines.
Swatches compared to a few other singles from the original single eyeshadow line:
1. Argentic (new formula) 2. Bronzy Night (new formula) 3. Beige Print (new formula) 4. Beige Sunshine (original formula for single shadows) 5. Brown Sequins (original formula for single shadows)
From Biteki September 2009: * Item #1 is Gold Touch 546 * Item #2 is Trendy Taupe 066
These come in the same size compact as the One-Colour Eyeshadow which retail for $25.00, I don’t know what the difference is in formula that would justify the higher price tag of $27.50 (which I think is really steep). I will have to play around with the colors a bit more to see exactly what the difference is, but initially, it seems that the new formula is more shimmery and the texture is highly pigmented and slightly creamy versus powdery like traditional eyeshadows.
Overall I’m really pleased with the pigmentation and the shimmer is finely milled so it’s not over the top or too subtle. I will definitely be on the lookout for the product instores to test out the other colors like Nude Luminescence, Ultra Violet & Brown Fever.
I finally got my hands on the new Stila Smudge Pots in Black Cat, Kitten, and Little Black Dress. I found these at my local Ulta – I’ve heard several sighting posts around various message boards. The store near me didn’t have them on display but the manager on duty this morning was kind enough to allow his staff to pull them from the back since I told him I didn’t need to test them out and knew what I wanted to get already.
Here are the new shades compared to Golden Noir from the Indian Summer Collection. Each retail for $20. Not all of them are online yet, but the release dates for each collection are September, so I expect these to be trickling in soon. FYI, from the Barbie Loves Stila collection, there are also two other smudge pot shades. Check stilacosmetics.com for more details.
Left to right: Golden Noir, Black Cat, Little Black Dress, Kitten
Descriptions + links to Stila’s and Sephora’s websites:
* Golden Noir – a black base with gold shimmer, according to stila, “This new twist on the cult favorite Smudge Pot sprinkles genuine 24kt gold flakes into the rich matte black base leaving eyes gilded and glam.”
* Black Cat – a soft black with a cooler base than Golden Noir, but this might be due to the silver sparkles that are in the product (haven’t seen this online yet)
* Little Black Dress – described online as a “black with pink shimmer” this really seems more like a deep purple infused with pink and violet shimmers which was surprising to me, especially since it swatched brighter than what it looked like in the pot
* Kitten – this is a shimmery nude champagne pink, similar to the powder eyeshadow version, seems like an odd shade to have as a liner, but I will probably use this more like a cream eyeshadow

I first saw the new Bobbi Brown Pewter Metallic Eye Set on Nordstrom.com about a month ago and immediately inquired about it at several stores while I was in Seattle & Portland and also when I got back home. I was told that it wouldn’t be released until October for the Nordstrom Trend Shows. I finally caved in and ordered it online and here it is (retails for $40):

At this time I am not quite sure if this Pewter Metallic Eyeshadow will be the same as the Pewter Chrome Eyeshadow that will be released with the Chrome Collection in October (details and photos at PinkMelon). All I know is that the packaging material is different – the metallic one from nordstrom is in the regular black compact while the chrome looks like it will be in the same size/shape of compact, but a different color to go along with the chrome theme.
Overall thoughts: the Pewter Metallic Shadow is absolutely gorgeous. It’s an extremely complex taupey/silvery/pewter shimmer shade with a hint of gold tones. If you’re a Bobbi Brown fan, I highly recommend checking this out at your local Nordstrom counter!
