Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST 007 Skin Show Review + Swatches

I ordered the Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST 007 in Skin Show ($75) sight unseen which features new liquid lipsticks, a clear gloss and a micro glitter pigment. After falling in love with the Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipsticks I decided to try this set. There are two shade options and I went for the nude one. Quick takeaway is I still prefer her regular lipstick formula but for liquid lipsticks hers are pretty darn good. I feel like I’m pretty much the only one who is in general anti-liquid lipsticks because they just don’t work with my lips, often look dry and shriveled. I usually have to add gloss or balm to make them work.

The LiquiLUST 007 is part of her limited-edition Lip Labs Collection. This set comes in an iridescent sealed pouch stuffed with lavender colored sequins. It’s definitely eye catching and fun but I have no idea what I’m going to do with all these little bits of iridescent purple sequins. Andrew was worried the cat would jump into my flatlays because he likes shiny things and get glitter all over the place. In reality he should be more concerned that I’d get it everywhere – there’s something about glitter and sequins that makes me think it would be super fun to just throw toss up in the air everywhere in the house.

Overall thoughts on the set are positive. The Liquid Lipsticks have no detectable scent, full smooth coverage that is 100% streak-free and feels remarkably comfortable for a matte. They do have a matte finish and drydown but don’t dry out to the point they make my lips look shriveled. Divine Nude is almost identical to the MatteTrance Lipstick in 1995 (I prefer the lipstick version). Lasting power is really good – they stay put for hours without budging.

The gloss is also unscented and has a slightly tacky feel. On the lips it doesn’t feel too sticky – it actually feels really comfortable, almost hydrating on me. As I’m really not a fan of matte lips, I find if I apply the gloss first then apply the liquid lipstick on top, it’s almost like an opaque gloss like the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Cremes.

The only color I felt was too dark was Slay-OMI but it’s really nice for a deep lip. I didn’t try the gold glitter except to swatch. It’s a yellow gold and as I don’t like to wear yellow or glitter I don’t see how I’ll get any use out of this (it’s being regifted to one of my friends).

Bottom line a solid win, but I still think her LuxeTrance and MatteTrance Lipsticks are better for me. At this time I don’t know if her Liquid Lipsticks are going to be launched individually or in more colors outside of her sets. There’s another LiquiLUST 007 Duo available with another new gloss formula but I’m probably not going to order it as it has Divine Nude and I now have it from the kit I bought.

You can find the Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST 007 set available at Sephora and Pat McGrath Labs. While supplies last. Have you tried or seen these yet? What did you think?

Haha, omg, you can string the sequins together for a festive wreath. 😆

I’m so klutzy when it comes to glitter; I tend to get it everywhere.

The packaging is super cute, but I prefer the LuxeTrance, too. Certain liquid lipsticks make my lips look like that of a 90 year old woman, I like a little moisture, lol.

I definitely prefer the look of her lipsticks. I feel that they are more unique with both packaging and formula. The liquid lipsticks just look like every other one that’s on the market.

I like the way Possessed looks on you; a really nice shade. If I’m not mistaken, the gold glitter is meant to be layered ontop of the clear gloss and liquid lipsticks to give that dazzling bejewelled look. Of course, you can wear these however you want, but it’s good inspiration for those of us who have similar shades and products at home!

Pat McGrath’s packaging makes it so hard for me to reconcile my love for shiny, sparkly things with my distaste for excessive waste.

I haven’t tried any of pat mcgrath beauty products, but the packaging is awesome.

I’ve been so intrigued by these, as I do like the look of matte lipsticks but my lips are so freaking dry I can’t really wear any (the powermattes look great but I need like two days prep and a week recovery) but I really want her to release singles! All the colors look really nice but like you, I wouldn’t use a yellow gold loose sparkle powder haha. I was so excited when I saw the liquid lip and gloss duo on Sephora and then so disappointed that it was only one color offering….

Possessed is stunning, I love this color ! I never tried Pat Mc Grath products because this brand is not sold in France

    Pretty colors.

Divine nude looks like a perfect your lips but better color! They look gorgeous, but I am secretly waiting for the liquid lip trend to end. My lips need moisture, especially with Winter coming!

  • Glenda November 29, 2017 at 10:45 am

I still haven’t opened mine haha The sequins discourage me.
But I must say – I really like them all on you! Even Slay-Omi. I fear that one will be too dark and too brown on me, but I hope the red tones will make me like it. I was never afraid of the vampy shades anyway.

I also don’t think I’ll get a lot of use out of the glitter. I wish she’d give us more wiggle room – to choose the items we want to buy, instead of a fixed set that’ll feature things we won’t necessarily use…

Such a gorgeous set, ooh I love it! Possessed looks amazing on you.

  • tasa November 29, 2017 at 6:48 pm

Thanks for this thoughtful review! With all the liquid lipstick formulas out there, I keep thinking I’m missing out but every time I try one, it’s a bust. Well, except for one: the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink liquid lipstick I tried, I’ve loved.

  • Lisa C November 29, 2017 at 7:51 pm

I put my sequins to good use by putting them in my colorful tall but wide glass, and I put my most used eye brushes in there!

  • Marcia Scully November 29, 2017 at 9:49 pm

I’m waiting for my OMI matte comes anytime soon. I have a very pigmented lips like you and normally when it looks good on you, it’ll work for me. Thanks a lot for your great reviews and pics!

The Possessed shade is very nice

  • AstarteOurania November 30, 2017 at 10:26 pm

I was tempted to buy them online but didn’t, then saw them in a Sephora store near me. I was rather glad that I didn’t buy the set because the colors in both sets are not my favorite although I liked this one better. I think I will stick with the her regular lipsticks. I do still have the sequins in a bowl from a purchase I had made some time ago. I find they magically appear in other places, especially my laundry room. lol

Oh man “Divine Nude” looks like something I need — I keep buying matte liquid lips in this shade range, and they keep turning out too brown, or too grey, or too pink, or too warm-toned, ugh. (Definitely couldn’t use the entire set, though.) Thanks for swatching these!
