Christian Louboutin Loubilaque in Rouge Louboutin

June 10, 2016

This July Christian Louboutin will launch a new lip product called Loubilaque ($85 each) which is a new full coverage opaque liquid lipstick. According to Christian Louboutin, “Loubilaque is for the bold woman who wants to bring attention to her lips …” I am thrilled to have a preview of one shade Rouge Louboutin for you today and can report that it is indeed a very bold kind of lip product. The Loubilaque has a high shine full coverage finish and is absolutely flawless. It has a sponge tip applicator and comes in a bullet that is slightly larger than the Lipsticks (reviewed and swatched here). The Rouge Louboutin color is identical across formulas, including the Nail Polish. Loubilaque is the boldest out of all the lip formulas and has a lush moisturizing cushiony feel. You can feel it on the lips but it is not heavy. The color stays put once it is on and has impressive lasting power. It literally stays put and doesn’t budge once it’s on the lips and even after a few hours still looks as fresh as it did when I applied it. Color transfer will happen though if you drink or eat – but even with snacks it still stayed on my lips. It is pure love and I am looking forward to seeing the other 7 shades that launch come July.

A closer look at the lipstick – it’s a true red, color will look brighter or deeper depending on the light. The press gift came in a glorious framed embossed heart with a chain – it looks like something that came out of a Snow White story.

More details and also comparisons of the Loubilaque packaging compared to the lipsticks:

Rouge Louboutin Loubilaque on the lips and Rouge Louboutin on the nails

I didn’t think it was possible to top the lipsticks, but Louboutin has managed to make red lips even better. There is a soft perfumed scent to the lipstick which gives it a nice feminine feel. Based on my testing for the Rouge Louboutin I can say that these are top of the line amazing. The formula is flawless – it stays put, doesn’t bleed, lasts long, moisturizes the lips, feels like a cushion and is the epitome of luxury in a tube. I know many will want comparisons to other formulas and off the top of my head I cannot think of a dupe. The Dior Addict Fluid Sticks are my favorite liquid lipstick because they are a hybrid of lipstick and gloss in one with amazing shine and color. I would say the Louboutin Loubilaques are most similar to those but the formula is a lot more opaque, lasting power is better and overall look and feel is more bold.

Starting July there will be eight shades total. Colors include Bengali, Bikini, Colibretta, Casanovella, Altressa, Altareva and Akenana – I don’t have descriptions of photos but I hope to find them previewed on @Louboutinworld’s social channels because I literally cannot wait to see what the other shades look like.

The Louboutin Loubilaque will retail for $85 each. Launches in July. Now available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-A-Porter and Christian Louboutin.

Many thanks to Louboutin for sending me a preview of the new Loubilaque.

Would you ever BUY an $85 lipstick, though?

    • Sabrina June 10, 2016 at 8:11 pm

I bought 4 of the $90 ones 🙂 just haven't had a chance to review yet.

I love the pine cone design of this Loubilaque. Still don't think it can lure me with its price tag 🙂 When I saw it, I thought I hope there is a nice neutral for Sabrina in that batch. The color looks splendid on you though.

I'm so excited! Even though I probably won't buy it because my bank account will cry, I still die over the packaging and the colours of all the Laboutin lipsticks! And the colour looks amazing on you!

  • C Sand June 11, 2016 at 4:38 am

    Is there a well-priced dupe?

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:27 am

Not sure about it color-wise, I don't own many reds. Dior Addict Fluid Sticks are similar in finish – not sure if they have a red, you might also want to check Chanel Rouge Allure Glosses as well.

Hii sabrina..amazing packaging and pics.. this colour looks so good on u..
Please do a review of the other louboutin lipsticks that u bought. ..

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:27 am

Hi Anu – I plan on doing so! Not sure how soon I can but will definitely review them!

  • kmc June 11, 2016 at 1:03 pm

These remind me of the old Dior Plastic Shines. Even the packaging shape is similar; what is old is new again. I used to love those lipsticks, does anyone else remember them? Or am I just showing my age?

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:28 am

Ahh I vaguely remember those! You're so right – I completely forgot about that formula, Dior has reformulated everything SO MANY times I have lost count.

  • Estelle June 11, 2016 at 2:19 pm

Gorgeous pics (as always!) of a gorgeous product, Sabrina – can't wait to see the whole collection swatched and photographed by you!

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:28 am

Thank you Estelle! I don't know that I will splurge on the whole collection, although the formula is so good I just might.

  • Susan Hooey June 11, 2016 at 5:15 pm

Pretty but it's only a lipstick!

  • Deb June 11, 2016 at 7:22 pm

Hi Sabrina. How well does the shine last?

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:29 am

It lasts really long – I was really impressed.

  • Kathy June 11, 2016 at 9:20 pm

The colour floored me – it's absolutely THE perfect red! I so hate that you love this product so much, it's only adding to the temptation of getting my hands on it T_T
Would you say the price is justified?

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:30 am

I would say that anything over $35 for a lipstick is not really justified in my mind, but it doesn't mean I won't pay it. I've bought the Tom Ford, several Louboutin Lipsticks (which are $90!!).

In this case the formula is really unlike anything else I've tried because it's hydrating, shiny, opaque – I will have to test the other colors to say for sure. But if they are like the Rouge shade, I will be buying at 2-3 other shades for sure come July.

  • ahhhsoNeo June 11, 2016 at 10:49 pm

dammit… my purse is already screaming! It looks amazing.

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:31 am

      Me too 😛

  • Evelyn June 12, 2016 at 3:59 am

Wow. I haven't bought any of the other ones although I really love the look of the satin. This one though…I think it will push me over the edge to actually buy it!

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:32 am

Can you try before you buy? If you do purchase, I hope you like the formula you end up picking! Check out RaeView on YouTube – she did an amazing video on the different formulas applying them. It's really the best one I've seen.

  • Jenn June 12, 2016 at 4:50 pm

Such a classic, beautiful red on you! I love that you specifically compared these to the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks because I love those. I'll have to get my hands on a few of these then!

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:32 am

Thank you Jenn – so kind of you to say! I really love the Dior Addict Fluid but the Loubilaque is like the Dior on steroids.

  • MizzJ June 13, 2016 at 7:20 am

Wow this looks stunning! And that packaging is so unique. I'd feel like such a bad ass carrying that around lol

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:33 am

It almost looks like a weapon haha!

  • Jessica June 13, 2016 at 1:36 pm

OMG!!! This is sooooo pretty. Love the vibrant color and so looove the packaging.

    • Sabrina June 14, 2016 at 12:33 am

Did you purchase Rose du Desert in the sheer voile? I'm considering pulling the trigger during the Sephora sale next month but I can't decide! I need a counter near me to swatch ☹️️
