I’ve been browsing items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for a few days now. I stopped by my local store for Early Access last week to take a quick peek and bought two of the beauty exclusives from MAC and Dior. Since things looked like they were selling out quickly I stopped by my local store again today – there were a lot of things I had on my list that sold out including the Deborah Lippmann Undressed Set and YSL Rock Attitude Glossy Stain. If you see something on your radar I recommend you order online or visit your store as soon as you can.
Beauty Exclusives I picked up include the Dior Eye Reviver Palette in Rosy Nordy Girl and the Vernis in Majesty (peach). They also had some of the fall collection out, I picked up the Cosmopolite Nail Polish (muted plum).
I think the best value find for me is the T3 Compact Styling Set which is priced at $150. The Compact Folding Dryer is $150 by itself so with this Nordstrom set you basically get the flat iron for free. I love that the dryer will fold into a more compact size. If I could have only bought one thing from the sale, this would be it (they are boxed together).
MAC seemed to be selling through their sets faster than usual at the store. I picked up the MAC Look in a Box Pretty Natural Lip Kit that has Subculture Lipliner, Pretty Natural Lipstick and Feeling Fine Lipglass. I picked up mine during early access. Today my local store was completely sold out. It seems to have sold out online too but right now just came back. If you missed out – order soon, or keep the link bookmarked. It keeps popping back in stock. I’m a sucker for a good nude pink lipstick. Subculture Lipliner is a staple neutral I think everyone should own anyways.
Palettes are always big during the sale. I picked up three palettes, two are gifts for friends but I think now I want them too. The Chanel Travel Palette is something I picked up for a friend. It has the Les Beiges Powder 20, a blush, five eye colors, lip colors, mini brushes and a small mascara. I am not a fan of compacts that don’t have separators for cream and powder – I can see this one becoming a mess. Still it’s really pretty and the pink blush and lips are so so gorgeous.
Lorac has the best priced deal with a $15 The Skinny Black Eyeshadow Palette. I bought this because it’s a steal – how can anyone resist? My store had about 20 or so left on the floor display – there seemed to be a lot left.
For me, I picked up the new MAC Nordstrom’s Finest Exclusive 15 Pan. It’s not a Anniversary Sale Exclusive, but my associate said it’s a Nordstrom Exclusive (kinda confusing to me). I’m sure it has a lot of repeats for me because I already own a lot of singles but the convenience of having everything in one palette is appealing.
There seemed to be a lot of new fall items trickling in. Armani had a display unit for the new powder foundation but it didn’t have any product inside, nor did they have anything to sell. I’m hoping it will launch soon because I’m eager to test it out. I did pick up a few Fluid Sheers, left to right is 14, 17 and 18. It’s been a while since I last checked out anything from Armani but I’ve been told 17 and 18 are new.
All of Chanel Fall is now in store and online. I picked up a few items last week from Saks. Today I picked up a few more items including the three Le Vernis shades in Vert Obscur, Ecorce Sanguine and Chataigne. There are two new eye palettes: Tisse D’Automne Quadra Eyeshadow and a new Les 5 Ombre Eyeshadow Palette. I hope to swatch this weekend and have reviews soon.
I ran out of some nail care products so I restocked on the Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Oil (purple) and Cuticle Remover (white). I picked up her new All About That Base base coat.
Last but not least I picked up three clothing items – I ordered mine online and they arrived a few days ago. Rag and Bone Theo Pullover is a super soft black v-neck sweater. I find sizing in brands these days all over the place for tops. For most Rag and Bone I am an XS – this sweater fits nicely but has a slightly loose feel. It’s not too large on me but the look is slightly more relaxed than what the model shows. I ordered a Splendid Jersey Wrap Robe which runs true to size. I also ordered these J Brand Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans.
Did you pick up anything from the sale? Or are you planning to shop the sale this weekend? What did you end up picking out? I keep forgetting to stop by the shoes section – although since it’s summer I can’t get into the mood for boots.
I have bought a TON of stuff, returned a TON of stuff, and kept still quite a bit of stuff. I still have some returns to make, stuff is still trickling in. Most of the clothing I bought save for jeans and bras didn't fit me in the weirdest ways (shoulders!) and I overbought Zella to the point of really needing to make hard decisions.
I still have a maybe pile of things I need to make decisions on, as well as a couple more bags of returns.
I think clothing sizes are all over the place these days. Zella is always a good thing to stock up on during the sale. Good luck sorting through your picks!
I can't wait for your Deborah Lippmann 'All about that Base' review. I'm scratching out the last of my rehydrating base and have the CC Base in my Net-a-Porter shopping basket waiting for reviews. I bought the Dior Reviver Palettte in the summer. It's pretty much like all the other nude palettes I've bought over the last year but it is lovely. I'm not bothering with the Chanel palette….I don't lip product from palettes, it's a real pet hate but it goes off so quickly as it's too exposed so it's not really worth it even if the rest is lovely. I have Les Beiges in No. 25 now instead of mixing up No. 20 & No. 30. Xx

I've just realised that the Dior Eye Reviver palette is the pink version…..we've not had than in UK yet. It looks really pretty I hope we get it here. Xx

The EVE LOM special sold out while it was in my basket! That was a great buy! I picked up the Deborah Lippmann Stripper deluxe set (seems like the only time I find these big bottles is during the anniversary sale). I also bought the Blame It On Nars Cheek Palette after I said i was done with NARS palettes. I used it yesterday for the first time. Suitable for Fair to Medium skin tones this may be the best cheek palette NARS has ever compiled and I have purchased my fair share. The palette is a great shade for contour and bronzing the cheek colors are perfect and the the ligh tan color is a perfect glow highlighter. The included brush is well-made and functional and well made. I will definitely be using this for travel! I bought the T3 as well, haven't played with it yet though. My final purchase was the Guerlain perles Summer edition which is absolutely divine!
Oh no Lisa!! I think the Deborah Lippmann nail polish remover set looks like a good deal. I haven't seen the large size before except in salons. The NARS Cheek Palette looks so good! Love your picks 🙂
In truth, I wasn't blown away by the sale this year so there wasn't much diversity to my purchases. I did pick up loads of Antica Farmacista 8 oz. fragrance diffusers in Ala Moana (like a tropical breeze without being cloying) Proseco (a delightful sparkling citrus that is my all time fave) and Orange Blossom, Lilac & Jasmine ( a relaxing bedroom scent that is a nice departure from the usual lavender). I bought three of each scent so that should easily hold me over until December's holiday sale. I use them in all the bedrooms and bathrooms. They also make wonderful hostess gifts. In regards to cosmetics, I bought very little; just Chanel's Tissé Rhapsodie and the JC in Crescendo. That's it! Nothing else tempted me and the clothes/accessories really seemed meh to me. I'd much rather wait for the fall collections to come in. So, I got off easy this year 🙂

I got the Trish McEvoy power of makeup planner. I had also ordered a few Trish items directly from her website for 20%. I really like her products. I also got the Helene Berman wool waistcoat vest, but I think I'm going to return it. I ordered the halogen long sweater in grey, a blouse with tie, and a pair of wide legged green pants (have not arrived yet). I became a Nordstrom card holder because of the sale this year. Next year I will plan ahead!

I picked up the Deborah Lippmann Undressed set. I found them to be streaky and uneven, no matter how I applied the polish. As a fan of Lippmann, this was a big disappointment.
Lippmann has a new cuticle oil coming out soon, It's A Miracle. It's on HSN now (with a couple other new items) and her site, but hitting stores next month.

Hi Sabrina, I'm glad you had a good trip to Europe and enjoyed Paris so much. I'm traveling to New York next month, visiting a friend, so I can do lots of US-shopping and have it shipped to her address. I would love to get the Lorac Skinny Palette, but it's not available online ;-( I hope it will come back. Yes, what is a steal. I have the big palette and love the formula. I will also order some more Truffle clutches. I have one – thanks to you 🙂 – and now want the Clarity Document Case and the Clarity Pouch Small. Do you have the Document Case? Hi Danish – yes I have a document case but I rarely use it for papers, I store magazines inside it to keep the pages from wrinkling and folding around the edges. I do think it will work for papers though – as long as your stack isn't too big!
