Chanel April, May and June for Spring 2012

Chanel Spring has started to trickle into stores in the US. Nordstrom should be receiving their items any day now and Neimans already has the product instore at counters (most of the items have arrived). Chanel.com just launched the spring items online. Of course I could not resist the three new Le Vernis Nail Colours in April, May and June – all cream non-shimmer shades with smooth rich coverage. Although these shades do not appear to be special or unique, I find that Chanel once again has mixed the perfect amount of color to create shades that are amazingly beautiful. Lined up together they remind me of a sunset.

April is a cream mauve plum. In the bottle it looks like almost reddish but it swatches with a hint of purple.

May is a baby soft pink. It’s a neutral-cool, similar to Melrose, but April is slightly warmer in undertone.

June is a soft pastel apricot cream. It’s a lighter brighter version of Miami Peach/Orange Fizz.

Comparisons to other Chanels and 1 RBL, L to R: Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised, Chanel April, Chanel Fantastic, Chanel Rouge Fatal, Chanel Rose Confidentiel, Chanel May, Chanel Melrose, Chanel Morning Rose, Chanel Riviera, Chanel June, Chanel Peche Nacree, Chanel Miami Peach and Chanel Orange Fizz.

Bottom line: I don’t know what else to say but “love”. *UPDATE* Check out The Purse Forum: Chanel on your nails #2 thread page 408 for awesome comparisons from Elisaq (I think you have to login to see images).

Hi Karen, thank you for the nice compliment! I would say practice, practice, practice! Swatches in general are a challenge for me, in particular nail swatches. Sometimes I'll have to redo 2-3 times before it looks decent. If you look at some of my older nail swatches from 2009, you might be able to see the improvement (such as the ones from here http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2009/12/chanel-les-impressions-de-chanel-for.html)

I start with a swipe on the outer sides of the nail and then finish in the middle. Usually 3-4 swipes of the brush for 1 coat in sections. Let dry about 2-4 minutes before second coat. If you apply the second coat too soon, it will cause gooping/uneven-ness.

    HTH some!

I am darned disturbed. I don't know what to do. I'm torn in three directions, but for whatever reason, Chanel dot com doesn't ship to Alaska anymore, so they are missing out on my dollars. Seriously!!!!! I think I will be needing two of these. Wonderful review, as always!!

  • Flauros December 11, 2011 at 10:21 pm

May looks just like Chanel's Organdy from like… 5-6 years ago. Slightly purpled cool-tone pink. Do love! If I ever finish Organdy, May might be my backup.

Thank you for your hard work, Sabrina!
It's first Chanel Spring for many years I don't call around and run on the first day it's on sale.
These nail polishes are very pretty but I want some challenge from Chanel, the nail polish which not everyone can pull off, some new huge nail trend…

  • brittany December 12, 2011 at 12:28 am

those shades are amazing. I love april. it reminds of the borghese nail polish I own (forgot the name) and nicole by opi mulberry magic.

  • HeidiB December 12, 2011 at 1:48 am

The other the are a little meh, but June looks really awesome. I think it's a must have for me!

I'm soo glad I came across this posting, as it made me purchase Chanel's May. Absolutely gorgeous pastel pink that suits my olive complexion (even one coat shows up on my nails). This is the first time I've come across a pastel nail colour that doesn't streak (in comparison last summer's Mimosa was extremely streaky on application). May on the otherhand is delightful…

I'm soo glad that I came across this posting, as it made me go buy Chanel's May nail polish. Absolutely gorgeous pastel pink that suits my olive complexion. Normally, I would avoid buying pastel polishes as they're usually not opaque enough and/or are streaky on application, neither applies to May (in comparison to last summer's Mimosa (sunny yellow polish) that was extremely difficult to apply).

I really like May. June I have but I firstly need a tan to wear it.. And April seems next to lotus rouge a bit pale.. But I´m still thinking about getting it..
