Rescue Beauty Lounge Killa Red

February 9, 2010

I believe every woman needs a good classic red nail polish in their stash. A good classic red is probably one of the favorite color families for toe-nail polish. I normally don’t wear reds on my fingers (more of a neutrals girl for manicures), but I thought today, why not try it on the hands.

Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Killa Red Nail Polish is definitely that perfect classic red shade – it’s not too bright and not too dark, just the right in-between shade for my liking.

The formula is excellent for this color. I’ve been testing out a few of my other RBL nail polishes one by one and I don’t love all of them – but this one is more along the lines of your typical high quality RBL nail polish. Smooth and rich in color.

Here it is swatched with 2 coats.

Swatched with different backgrounds:

Compared to a few other Rescue Beauty Lounge Reds, Killa Red is one of the more darker reds without venturing into the burgandy/wine category. Cherry Love is more blue-based and cooler toned, Glamourpuss is a brighter warmer more attention-grabbing red, Chinoise is an orangey-red color. I’ve used all the shades on my toes in the past and love them. I think RBL has a great selection of reds to choose from.

Purchased from RescueBeauty.com, retails for $18 USD.

wow – that is quite lovely. I have always loved the short nail/classic red combo. It's classy, chic and sexy! You just inspired me for my next manicure and I was going to do crazy green with the new OPI "Jade is the New Black"

This is one of my favourite shades for a mani. I always feel chic with this sort of shade on the tips. I like nude of my toes and a hit of colour on my fingers.

This is beautiful on you, Sabrina! I debated about Killa Red during the last RBL sale (I was hooked by the description of Hitchcock blondes wearing this color), but I decided against it for more the brand's edgier colors. It's such a classic, gorgeous shade that I'm definitely picking this up when I make my next order.

Thanks for the fab swatches, and I look forward to seeing more of your RBL collection!

Looks beautiful on you. But I hate red on me. Not for my looks. Makes me feel like a hag, not fresh.

Thanks girls – I'm not used to wearing reds on my fingers. I don't think DH was crazy about it, he normally like natural lighter colors for my fingers. I like reds – just not for manicures, it just feels a bit loud for my taste.

Lynn – the purse is a Gucci Princey tote in the white leather. It was purchased from around 2007.
