Loving This Week

June 10, 2014

This week I’m in love with Tatcha’s Indigo Hand Cream and Caudalie’s Divine Oil for extra moisture and hydration. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments in the mini sizes have found their way to my makeup bag on a regular basis lately as well for added moisture and quick touch ups. As my skin has started to clear up the Chanel Les Beiges Fluid No. 30 has started to be sufficient on its own (just with powder added) for a sheer evening base. As an update to my last review, I got a sample of No. 20 and found it to be a good match as well, just slightly too pink so No. 30 is a better match for me right now. Edward Bess Afterglow has remained a staple for me every day, I just used another one up and opened up a brand new one. Perfect as an eye base or highlight on the cheekbones. Another eye pencil I’ve been loving for an eye base is NARS Soft Touch Pencil in Iraklion as a good nude taupey cream base for powder eyeshadows. It’s a lovely subtle neutral. Sephora Beauty Insider offerings are killing it this summer with the Elizabeth and James Nirvana minis (I’m seriously considering the full size of Nirvana Black). MAC Sharon Osbourne Lipglasses in Pussywillow and Bijou are my new must-haves (review to come soon, I think Bijou is backup worthy). I’m planning a mid-week nail polish change on my toes but can’t decide between Dior Metal Montaigne or Incognito (do you ever do nudes on your toes?). Guerlain Cils d’Enfer in Waterproof Black is a new discovery thanks to The Raeviewer (be sure to check out her summer must-haves). I love it for lush thick defined lashes and the formula stays put all day long. Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope is a Neiman Marcus Camp Gorgeous Gift with Purchase Exclusive with a $250 LMdB purchase, I purchased items in store to get this, but just checked online to see it it was available. It’s not listed in the beauty offers section but if you add items to your cart the gift will show up once you hit the qualifying amount (while supplies last). I wish Le Metier de Beaute would release more kaleidoscopes that weren’t exclusives but I’m really happy to have this one.

Currently working my way through reviews of so many lipglosses that I’ve accumulated since May. Featured above are Marc Jacobs Overprotected and NARS Lipgloss in Istria, Belize, Sweet Dreams and Risky Business.

    • That's awesome! I collected 3 of the Nirvana Black and 2 of the Nirvana white πŸ™‚ They're so good.

    I am seriously impressed Sabrini!!

  • Hi Sabrina,

What a pretty set of favorites! I love the look of NARS Iraklion— it seems like such a wearable color πŸ™‚

    • It's such a you shade, if you haven't checked it out I think you should πŸ™‚

  • That stack of shadows is such a cute idea!

  • Hi Sabrina, I have been doing nudes on toes for about 20 years, usually when I want to make the dressy sandal or open toed pump take centre stage, I never was one for matching tips and toes even when it was de riguer. I think it makes the foot look so clean longer or shorter depending on the issue. I am now loving RBL Grunge for my pedi, it looks so much different on my toes. As a women of colour "nude" shades (cosmetic shades in general) for me are typically followed by exception rather the rules of hue. I am Chanel Vitalumiere 50 in winter, NARS tinted moisturizer Seychelles in summer.

By the way, I rarely comment but your blog is one of my favourites. It is very intelligent, Beautiful imagery and well thought out content. As a reader it is easy to see how much you love this project, and it pleasant to see that you don't use it as an outlet to relieve your frustration about the blogging process. Keep up the fabulous work it is highlight in my days.

    • Thanks for the idea on nude toe polish, believe it or not, I don't think I've ever done nude polish on the toes but I like the way you described it – I will definitely need to try it tomorrow since I wasn't able to get to the salon today.

Thanks for the kind words and for being a loyal follower and reader, I'm glad you enjoy it πŸ™‚

    • Dior Incognito is one of my favourites. for my lips and tips. I haven't tried it on my toes as yet. I have found with my skin tone the nude nail lacquer hues that wonderful on my hands don't serve justice on my toes. I think in my case it is because the cuticle colour changes from both areas as a black woman. I don't know if that affects you as an asian woman. But I tend to play to my undertone on skin rather than cuticle. It is subtle difference but makes all the difference when wearing the nude look as a woman of colour.

  • I always always do nudes on the toes! I have Incognito and another OPI one which is a dupe.. I wear them both on toes and tips!

  • Sleep! I'm loving sleep this week and not getting enough of it lol.

  • Always such wonderful pictures πŸ™‚ I love reading your blog πŸ™‚ Also, I love the look of that handbag! πŸ˜€

  • So many pretties!!
Can't wait to try the new osbourne's range for M.A.C!
    xo Holly xo

  • What I'm loving this week are all the promo pics for the fall collections that are beginning to pop up on the internet. I know it's not even summer yet, but fall/winter collections are always my favorites πŸ™‚ As for products, I just can't get enough of Tatcha hand cream and just bought two more–one for my purse and one for at home. I have working hands and so I love how the indigo combats the redness and heals any small nicks and scrapes I might get. This week I've been in love with MUFE's HD cream blush. I bought it in 210 Cool Pink and 215 Flamingo Pink. I actually prefer it to Chanel's cream blush which is saying a lot. As for fragrance, this week I've found myself reaching for TF's Shanghai Lily almost daily. It's light and invites people in πŸ™‚

  • I do nudes toenails not only when I want the shoe to take center stage, but also if I'm doing a super bright fingernail polish. It's really classy and lowkey.

  • The image in this post is absolutely gorgeous! As always, you have a way of describing products that makes me want to RUN out and snatch them up for myself! I really want to grab a few of the re-formulated NARS glosses; I just swatched them recently and they seem to be beautiful.

  • I have been away of blogs for like 2 weeks and I have sooo many things to catch up on, but I've been loving your instagram definitely lol! You're one of my favorite accounts πŸ™‚ X
