Dior Addict Lipstick + Forever Skin Glow Foundation Reformulations

May 14, 2022

New Dior Beauty Launches Addict Lipstick + Forever Skin Glow Foundation

I put a few of the newly reformulated products from Dior Beauty to the test! They revamped their Addict Lipsticks and Forever Skin Glow + Matte Foundations and several of you have been asking for a review. I have a look + swatches at some of the new launches for you today.

Addict Lipstick (New)

New Dior Addict Lipstick Review

The new Dior Addict Lipsticks are a shine formula that’s refillable with added hydration and shine. They’re available in a wide range of colors retailing at $39 and refills priced at $32.

The formula is described as offering 24 hours of hydration and 6 hours of wear. They do feel comfortable on the lips with a nice glossy finish and hydrating feel. They have natural medium coverage with medium lasting power. In terms of lasting power I don’t think I could get 6 hours of wear with these. They do stay put as long as I don’t touch my lips to anything but between drinking water, coffee, snacking I can’t avoid contact and it does transfer. However it’s a formula I don’t mind re-applying. They have a sweet almost candy-like scent but it’s not too strong or overpowering.

The Dior Addict Lipsticks are refillable and there are three different cases you can purchase separately to interchange your lipstick in a fun case. Cases retail for $28 each which I find a little steep but they’re fun and I thought they were pretty so I splurged on the Pink and Denim one. They seem to be sold out everywhere right now but I hope they will restock soon.

New Dior Addict Lipstick Review

Lipstick shades I picked include:

  • 100 Nude Look is my perfect everyday nude pink
  • 329 Tie and Dior is a pale cool rose pink
  • 331 Mimirose is a soft peachy nude
  • 537 Atelier is my lips-but-better pink beige brown
  • 422 Rose de Vents is a pretty rose pink
  • 525 Cherie is a warmer deeper rose with some shimmer

Dior Addict Lipstick Cherie

My favorites are Nude Look, Rose de Vents and Cherie. I ordered mine without testing them (they didn’t have testers when I went to look). Now that I’ve had a chance to sample some I think I would have opted for some of the brighter fun shades like Rose Bobby, Rose Bagatelle or Dioriviera for more variation.

Overall really love these. If I could do it over would have picked a few different brighter colors!

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation in 3N

Dior reformulated their Forever Skin Glow Foundation and the Matte Foundation and the reviews out there have been mixed. I tried the Glow variation which has been revamped to contain 86% skincare with more hydration and improved lasting power. I really loved the original and I think the new one performs the same on me, but I would say your mileage may vary depending on your skin type and sensitivities to alcohol (it’s high on the ingredient list). My skin is hit or miss with formulas that have alcohol and I was fortunate to find this worked for me.

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation in 3N

The colors in my shade range are different in the original versus new version. I’m usually in the N neutral range for Dior foundations. In the original version I was a match to 2.5N because 3N oxidized and darkened once it set. The newer version seems to be more true neutral in undertone (see swatches below) and I had no oxidizing with the new formula. For the new version 3N is a good match. Feedback from a lot of you indicates many also experienced the same color-wise with the new formula (better undertone, no oxidation, good wear time).

The new Dior Forever Skin Glow has medium coverage with a glowy finish. Formula evens out skin tone enough that I don’t need concealer. It makes the complexion glow and look radiant. For me it worked well on top of several different moisturizers like the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Hydrating Moisturizer. (I tried it over quite a few!) Overall I think it’s a very good formula, but if you are sensitive to alcohol ingredients it probably will be irritating to your skin.

Dior Forever Bronzer and Backstage Blush

I recently partnered with Dior Beauty to share a makeup look in action with some of the new launches. You can see the video on Reels here. I know some of you still prefer blog posts with images as a reference guide so I thought I’d swatch everything and share some more thoughts here too.

The Dior Forever Nautral Bronzer is one of the best matte bronzers I’ve tried. It’s available in 8 shades (biggest shade selection is available online at Dior.com while other retailers seem to only carry a few shades) and I’ve tried Shade 03 Soft Bronze and 05 Warm Bronze and love both. It’s a natural bronzer with a matte finish and doesn’t look muddy. Shades range from ultra light to deep. For the Summer Dioriviera Collection they have Shade 04 and 05 with the limited-edition embossed texture which I think is beautiful!

Dior Forever Nautral Bronzer in Shade 05

The Backstage Blush is often sold out but pops back in stock every now and then. If you find it I do recommend it! The Pink shade gives the skin a very soft pink glow. The flush depends on how much you layer onto the skin. If you don’t want to wait to track this down I find that NARS Blush in Thrill gives me a similar effect.

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes

The Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow palettes are some of the most under-rated palettes! If you’re not into the trendy warm or red tones, Dior offers quite a few neutrals and neutral-cool options. The one I wear the most is Nude Dress. They still have a lot of more bold and trendy variations too. Formula this round has improved significantly in terms of better color payoff than older versions.

Last mention is yet another rave for the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara. It’s been one of my favorites for nearly a year now. It’s the best for volume and holding a curl on my super straight lashes. The brush can get some buildup after a while but I just wipe it clean with a piece of paper and it’s like brand new again. I love it with their Diorshow Lash Primer which I’ve purchased and repurchased countless times.

Dior Makeup Favorites and Staples | The Beauty Lookbook

Dior has some great everyday makeup staples and I wanted to do a blog roundup for those of you who still prefer detailed blog posts versus video or social media posts. I’ve done a few tutorial videos on my Instagram which I will include below for reference. Many thanks to each of you who took the time to leave a nice comment on the video or messaged me! I truly appreciate the support!

I love Dior for their beautiful limited-edition collections but today’s roundup focuses on staples that are part of their more permanent collection. I usually shop for Dior at Sephora because they have the Backstage Line or Dior.com because they often have great deluxe samples available with your purchase. I love getting those little samples of their La Privee fragrance line to try! Also the Dior website usually stocks the entire collection for limited-edition launches while it seems like other retailers don’t always have everything.

Base Favorites

There are two foundations I love from Dior. If you like medium to full coverage with a glow, the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation ($52) is a nice one with SPF 35. I use either the Shade 2.5N or 3N. It has a natural radiant finish with good lasting power. I do find the color oxidizes and darkens slightly once it sets.

For a more fluid lightweight finish the BACKSTAGE Face & Body Foundation ($40) is a popular one you can use to blend out imperfections and uneven tones. It’s a sheer natural finish but has buildable coverage. It’s waterproof and sweat resistant. I love the BACKSTAGE Customizable Set that’s a Sephora.com exclusive. It’s the same price as the individual foundation but comes with a large mesh zip pouch and a mini primer.

Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation and Backstage Face and Body 3N

Another product I love is the Dreamskin Fresh Perfect Cushion, but this is more of a skincare SPF product with a tint in one versus a foundation. I love the formula and wear but the shade range is horrendous. I love cushions but they still haven’t seemed to taken off in the US.

Concealer

Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer 2N, 2W, 2.5N, 3N

The Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer ($36) has been a cult classic for quite some time but I never tried it until recently. It 100% lives up to the hype and is now in my Top 3 formulas for multi-tasking. It’s creamy, opaque, easy to blend and makes me look more alive. I ordered quite a few shades since I wasn’t sure how it would perform color-wise. Shade 2.5N is my favorite for my skin tone but for brightening 2N or 2W work for me too.

If you try one thing from Dior I would recommend that you try the concealer.

Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer swatches 2N, 2W, 2.5N, 3N

Powders

Two powders I like from Dior are the BACKSTAGE Face & Body Powder-No-Powder ($40) in 2N and the Forever Loose Cushion Powder ($58) in 20 Light.

Dior BACKSTAGE Face & Body Powder-No-Powder and Cushion Powder

The Backstage Powder is a pressed blurring powder with a sheer finish. It still has enough color that you need a good match. I picked one shade lighter than my usual tone because I found the colors run dark. (Also on the face in this Dior Lip Glow post here.)

The Forever Loose Cushion Powder is cased in a beautiful compact with a mesh cover and powder puff. This is a sheer matte finish powder that sets the makeup really nicely. I like that it’s matte but not overly matte. I would say the main downside is the price. It’s expensive for the amount of product you get.

I recently ordered a few beauty tools from Dior and really like the Dior Backstage Kabuki Brush 17 ($57). There are a lot of good retractable brushes out there so if you already have one I’d recommend sticking with what you have. I do like having a cover on some of my brushes as it makes it easier for touch ups on the go or for travel.

Cheeks

Dior Bronzer + Blush Favorites

Dior blushes and bronzers have also gone through multiple reformulations and revamps over the years. I really love the blushes and wish there were more colors! Rouge Blush ($44) in Charnelle 459 is a really nice brownish neutral with a satin glow. Formula is soft, blendable and melts into the skin beautifully!

The Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush ($37) in 001 Pink is like the Lip Glow but for cheeks. Your mileage may vary depending on your skin tone but I like this for a really natural light pink flush. It does adjust on my skin a few minutes after application. It’s almost always sold out at Sephora, but still available at Dior.com.

For bronzer the Dior Forever Natural Bronze ($48) is one of the best matte bronzers I’ve tried. Looking at the pan it’s not 100% matte. I would call this a radiant matte. I use Shade 05 Warm Bronze but can also wear 03 Soft Bronze. It warms up the complexion in a natural way and I like the color tones. This is another example of a product where Dior.com has more shade options available than other retailers. If you’re ultra fair 01 Fair Bronze looks like one that won’t be too dark for you.

Eye Makeup

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes

The 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes ($62) are palettes I think I’ve tried in every re-formulation since the 2000s. This current formulation has the softest most finely milled texture out of all the Dior eyeshadows I’ve tried. They can be on the delicate side so I’d recommend being a little more careful with the palettes. Dior.com has the most color options available. To track down other shades you might have to do a bit of shopping around. Four I really like are New Look, Nude Dress, Mitzah and Poncho. They have a good mix of finishes with mattes, shimmers, satins and sparkles. Even the mattes have a luminous subtle glow.

Pigment is medium to full and buildable. The soft texture makes it easy to blend and layer.

Lashes

Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume Plumping Lash Primer and Iconic Overcurl mascara

Dior has so many formulas of mascara it’s hard to pick a favorite. I’ve tried so many over the years but most recently repurchased the Diorshow Maximizer 3D Triple Volume Plumping Lash Primer ($29.50, one of the best lash primers) and the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($29.50). I really love the overcurl formula for volume and holding the curl. I also BACKSTAGE Lash Curler ($26) which is pretty good!

Lips

For lips I love the Lip Maximizers ($35) for a nice plumping gloss that doesn’t have the sharp sting. Colors adjust on my lips with a subtle tint. I have quite a few shades but find I reach for 001 Pink, 012 Rosewood or 016 Shimmer Nude the most. I also really love Ultra Pink (limited-edition shade).

Dior Lip Maximizers

Dior Lip Maximizer swatches

I still love the Lip Glows but already did a full review. In case you missed it you can see the review and swatches of the New Lip Glow Formula here.

For lipstick and lipliners I have to admit I find the color options a little overwhelming, especially when counters like Nordstrom, Sephora or Neimans don’t always have the full color range. I picked Nude Look 100 in the Rouge Dior Lipstick ($38) and Lip Contour Lip Liner ($31) and LOVE the color. For a liquid lip the Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Transfer-Proof Lipstick ($38) in Forever Nude 100 is a close match with a lightweight finish.

Dior Summer Dune Collection 2021

May 12, 2021

DIOR Summer Dune Makeup 2021

I’ve been a bit MIA on the blog because we’ve taken a little road trip getaway to the other coast of Florida to celebrate my birthday in Miami! This one is a big one as I have just turned 40! I don’t know if I will have a travel diary on the blog but if you want to see some highlights, I have snippets saves on my Instagram Highlights @beautylookbook under the MIAMI tab. (Thank you so much to all of you who sent the sweetest birthday wishes!)

Today I have a look at some items from the Dior Makeup Summer Dune Collection for Summer 2021. You can find the vast majority of these at Dior.com and select items are available at retailers like Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale’s etc.

Pieces I hauled from the Summer Dune Collection plus a few new items I spotted online:

  • 5 Couleurs Couture in Mirage 699 and Dune 759 ($63 each)
  • Diorskin Nude Luminizer in Pink Dune 001 and Peach Dune 002 ($50 each)
  • Addict Stellar Gloss in Golden Hour 110, also picked up Dior Garden 213 and Sunrise 611 new but not part of the summer launch ($30 each)
  • Lip Maximizer in Shimmer Bronze 023 ($34)
  • Addict Lacquer Stick in Nude Desert 323 ($38)
  • Dior Vernis in Dune 323 ($28)
  • Pouch shown was a GWP on Dior’s website from a few weeks ago, but I just saw it online at Saks (says available with a $150 purchase, while supplies last through May 15)

Eyeshadow Palettes

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes Summer Dune collection

There are two new limited-edition eyeshadow palettes in the 5 Couleurs Couture format called Mirage 699 and Dune 759. Both are shimmery with a marbled swirl of color mixed in. Mirage is the softer of the two with warm copper, corals and peach shades – they all blend into very similar tones once on the skin but if you layer them with the sponge applicator or a dense brush you can see some more variation. Texture feels super lightweight with medium pigment. I would have liked to see more variation and contrast in the colors to create a more complete eye look. By itself it does give a nice ombre effect.

Dune is more sparkly with tiny micro sparkles. This pulls very warm by itself but if you add a cream brown shadow as a base you can make it more neutral. I added the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Cocoa to help create more dimension/contrast. Application is smooth and shimmery. The micro sparkles seemed to adhere pretty well with minimal fallout.

For the cheeks I could not resist picking up the new Diorskin Nude Luminizer in Pink Dune 001 and Peach Dune 002. Both have a smooth beautiful shimmer. The colors themselves aren’t the most unique but I think they’re very wearable for a nice glow that isn’t over the top. Pink Dune is a shimmery light pink and Peach Dune is a peach gold.

I hauled a lot of the new glosses! The Addict Stellar Gloss in Golden Hour 110 is one of the new ones for summer which is a sheer pale gold shimmer. It’s almost clear on the lips with an opalescent sheen. I also picked up Dior Garden 213 which is a pale shimmery lilac pink (also almost clear) and Sunrise 611 (nude pink caramel) both new but not part of the summer launch.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss Dior Garden

I already featured the new Lip Maximizer in Shimmer Bronze 023 in this post here. This one is a warm coppery bronze with a soft sheen. It pulls very orange on my complexion which I think is fun for summer!

Last but not least for lips, I ordered the Addict Lacquer Stick in Nude Desert 323. I love this formula and wish there were more lighter neutrals available. This is a creamy nude, on my lips it looks more flesh toned than it does in the tube – but this could just be my pigmented lips and tan. I really love this one! (Wearing this in the top photo.)

Dior Addict Lacquer Stick Nude Desert

Nail Polish

Dior Vernis in Dune

The last thing I have to share from the Dior Summer Dune collection is the Nail Polish in Dune. This looks like a peachy brown online, in real life it is a lot more brown and deeper in color. I’m personally not a huge fan but after showing a sneak peek on stories I received an overwhelming number of messages and responses on this one. Apparently most of you LOVE it! It did grow on me a little. I will say that I do think it is a unique peachy brown shade – I haven’t seen anything quite like it.

Overall some pretty launches for summer with good performance and wearable colors. I don’t think anything is a stand out for being super unique and while the eyeshadows are really stunning, I wish there was a bit more variation/contrast in the palettes.

After playing with everything the top 3 stand outs are the Addict Lacquer Stick in Nude Desert, Addict Stellar Gloss in Sunrise and Diorskin Luminizer in Peach Dune. I think I will be more of a fan of the Chanel Les Beiges Summer 2021 collection which just launched online at Chanel.com and will be reviewed very soon!

Dior Addict Lip Glow – New Formula

April 19, 2021

Dior Addict Lip Glow New Formula | The Beauty Lookbook

Dior just revamped their classic Addict Lip Glow and I hauled a number of colors! The formula is now reformulated to be 97% natural. These are color reviving balms so the color will adjust slightly to give the lips a custom glow. Brightness varies depending on lip chemistry. I know some of you have mentioned the classic Original Pink turns into a bright fuchsia pink, while for others it’s more of a softer flushed pink. These are currently available at Dior and Sephora.

To me these seem pretty much identical to the original formula – hydrating, smooth, slightly minty in scent and a subtle glossy sheen. I did an IGTV featuring a natural glowing makeup look featuring the new Rosewood 012 which you can view via @BEAUTYLOOKBOOK.

I also hauled a few of the other shades and have them swatched below. The colors on the lips mimic what you see in the tube with a flush of color as they transform on the lips.

Dior Lip Glow | Beauty Look Book

Colors I have in the new formula:

  • 000 Universal Clear
  • 001 Pink
  • 004 Coral
  • 008 Ultra Pink
  • 011 Rosegold
  • 012 Rosewood
  • 015 Cherry
  • 020 Mahogany

Swatches below. These will look different on everyone as they’re transforming balms and the flush that will appear is going to vary depending on your lips. Even on me the flush doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes the flush and brightness is bolder, other times the color looks more true to tube.

Dior Lip Glow swatches | Beauty Look Book

Looks with the Dior Addict Lip Glow colors I hauled on my lips (all except Rosegold 12 which is similar to Pink 01 on me except for a veil of shimmer), also wearing:

Swatches:

Dior Lip Glow Universal Clear

Dior Lip Glow 01 Pink

Dior Lip Glow 04 Coral

Dior Lip Glow 08 Ultra Pink

Dior Lip Glow 12 Rosewood

Dior Lip Glow 15 Cherry

Dior Lip Glow 20 Mahogany

A look at a couple more items below. The 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palettes are the newest formula from Dior and I think the texture is a significant improvement from past palettes. Nude Dress is a nice everyday neutral with a mix of shimmers and mattes. Mitzah reminds me of a less shimmery version of Tom Ford Honeymoon (I prefer the Tom Ford for colors and formula). They’re beautiful and nice for everyday with soft blendable textures and long lasting pigment.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadows in Nude Dress and Mitzah

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadows in Nude Dress and Mitzah swatches

I also hauled the new Backstage Face and Body Powder-No-Powders. They looked like they ran dark online so I ordered 3 Neutral (what I thought my shade would be) and 2 Neutral (one shade lighter). They do run darker from what I expected and 2 Neutral is the perfect color for my medium tan skin. It has a soft sheen with a blurring effect. Texture is lightweight and finish is sheer. I didn’t swatch these because they blend into the skin and you can’t really see them in an arm swatch, but they do melt into the skin with a super lightweight finish.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss + Stellar Halo Shine Lipsticks

March 31, 2020

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss and Halo Shine Lipsticks

The latest from Dior Beauty is the new Dior Addict Stellar Gloss ($30 each) + Stellar Halo Shine Lipsticks ($38 each). I hauled several colors in the new formulas and have swatches for you today! Most of the colors are available at all retailers like Nordstrom, Sephora etc. There are a few shades I was only able to find on Dior.com. Color options may vary by country as well.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss Review

I bought eight of the Dior Addict Stellar Lip Glosses sight unseen. I’ve been buying the lip glosses from the line for as long as I can remember and by this point I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve reformulated them. This variation comes with a large sponge tip applicator. They also have a sweet vanilla scent this round which I don’t remember them having. The Dior Addict Stellar Gloss has a high shine finish with a balm-like feel. They are smooth and non-sticky but semi-thick because of the balmy feel. Lasting power is better than average. They stay put on the lips for several hours but aren’t going to be super long lasting.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss Review via The Beauty Look Book

Finishes range from creams, shimmers to high shimmers to a few sparkles. I’d say pigment varies by color as well. The deeper brighter shades have better color payoff. A lot of the nudes I got look similar in the tubes. You can see the variation once you swatch them on the hand. However on my pigmented lips many of them look the same.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss haul

Colors I hauled:

  • Diorsolight is a pale milky beige pink cream
  • D-Way is a milky beige with tiny silver and beige shimmers
  • J’Adior is a perfect beige peach nude cream
  • Mirrored is a shimmery reflective nude
  • D-Light is a smooth shimmer beige with pinkish/silver sheen
  • Diorama is a smooth soft muted plum with silver shimmers
  • Stellar is a clear base loaded with lilac glitter (still applies smooth and there’s no texture even with the sparkles)
  • Everdior is a gorgeous shimmery coral with gold shimmers

Dior Stellar Halo Shine Lipsticks

Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine Lipstick review

I was really excited about the new Dior Stellar Halo Shine Lipsticks because of the shimmery stars in the center of each color! Some have a gold star, others have a pink star. The lipsticks themselves are more of a satin with a soft sheen but the star center adds either gold micro glitters or pink micro sparkles. On the lips they are shimmery but aren’t too frosty.

Pigment-wise the deeper colors have better color payoff. These have a lot of slip to them because of the shine. To me they have a similar feel to the YSL Rouge Volupte Shines or Chanel Rouge Coco Flash. The Dior Stellar Halo Shine Lipsticks also have a sweet vanilla cake kind of scent. Since there is a lot of shine and gloss to them, they almost feel like they’ll slide off the lips without a liner or primer. To me they feel more like tinted balms rather than a lipstick, but it’s pleasant and lovely to wear.

Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine Lipstick review

Colors I hauled below. As always please note because I have a natural pigmented lip base, the nudes will most likely look different on you as my natural lip shows through:

  • Cherish Star is a nude pink in the tube, but on my lips it’s almost a pale sheer pink
  • Treasure Star looks like a taupe shimmer in the tube, on my lips it’s a nude pink shimmer
  • Peace Star is a coral peach shimmer, on my lips and complexion it pulls more pinkish
  • Pink Star is a lovely almost soft raspberry pink shimmer

Dior New Stellar Gloss and Halo Shine Lipstick

Overall I’m happy with most of my picks. Had I seen them all in person I probably would have picked different colors and skipped most of the nudes I bought – mainly because they look so similar on me. Since the formula pulls sheer-ish I think the brights and bolds would be a lot easier to wear than I anticipated. At this point I don’t think I’ll be hauling any more colors since summer launches are right around the corner and I’m interested in seeing other new things. I do like the look of some of the brighter glosses though which I think would be nice for summer.

Colors I hauled were from Nordstrom and Dior.

Have you tried any of these yet? What did you think?

Dior Lip Glow Oil Review

February 4, 2020

Dior Lip Glow Oil Review via The Beauty Look Book

There are quite a few new lip oil launches this spring and I have a Dior Lip Glow Oil review and swatches today. There are eight colors available. Six are available at all Dior counters in Pink, Coral, Raspberry, Cherry, Berry, Rosewood (the non-shimmer ones) like Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus etc. and then there are two of which have shimmers with tiny glitter flecks in Pearl and Holo Pink that I found online at Sephora. I ordered five of them.

Dior Lip Glow Oils Pink, Pearl, Raspberry, Holo Pink, Rosewood

Dior Lip Glow Oil

The Dior Lip Glow Oils have a wide cushiony applicator. It allows me to coat the entire lip in one swipe which is nice. They have a thick texture that adheres to the lips and while it feels lush and thick, it’s not greasy or too sticky feeling. It’s comfortable and offers instant hydration to the lips. After testing I have mixed feelings about these. While I like them and think they are lovely the colors all look the same on my lips, even the sparkle ones. They have a slight color enhancing finish to them – they do transform the tint on my lips in a subtle way. Raspberry and Rosewood have the deepest tints to a flushed pink on my complexion.

Colors I bought:

  • 001 Pink is a soft pink
  • 003 Pearl is a clear almost white base with loaded glitter
  • 007 Raspberry is a sheer medium bright pink
  • 010 Holo Pink is a clear pink base with glitter suspended
  • 012 Rosewood is a medium rose

The glitter ones have a very subtle glitter effect. I can barely see them in a swatch or on the lips. The shimmers in the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer or holo options for the Dior Addict Lip Glows are a lot more noticeable.

Moisture-wise I don’t think these are the best for a lip treatment. I tried these on numerous occasions and even waited until a super dry lip day to see how these performed. I had dry lips to the point of peeling one morning. Application offered instant relief and moisture as it hugs the lips and acts like a glossy cushion. It stays put for several hours without budging or fading. The main downside for me is the moisture doesn’t stay there. Once it’s off the lips there isn’t any remaining moisture. With other balms, even when they fade or wear off, I feel like lips are left hydrated and feel better. The effect of any hydration seems to only be there when the product is on the lips, once it is off, my lips are left feeling dry again.

I like these as a lush thick gloss with high shine. As a lip oil, it didn’t perform as I had hoped – but that doesn’t make them bad. For moisture I prefer the original stick Dior Addict Lip Glows by far. Even the Addict Lip Maximizers have more lasting hydration on me.

If you’re looking for a subtle color-transforming gloss with a lush look and high shine, I’d recommend trying one. I don’t think you need more than one color as they look very similar in my experience. They have a very subtle minty scent but it’s barely noticeable and there’s no tingle or plumping sensation which is a plus for me since my lips are sensitive and often go fully numb with plumpers.

You can find the Dior Addict Lip Glow available at all Dior counters. The shimmer ones appear to be exclusive to Sephora for the moment. I bought all of these from Sephora. Makeup bags shown in most are by The Daily Edited (clear pouch) and Cuyana (mini bright pink bag).

Have you tried these yet? I ordered a few of the new spring items and the Rosewood Dior Addict Lip Glow. Review coming soon!

Dior Makeup Holiday, Lip + Base Haul

October 13, 2017

Dior Haul, Holiday, Lip and Base | The Beauty Look BookI have a collective haul post today with some Dior bits. Over the past few months I’ve been using a lot of their base products and found some new favorites. Some mini collections have launched new products such as the Rouge Dior Liquid Lip and Metalizer for Eyes that I’ve been testing. So many of you have asked about the Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stains and I picked out two (thoughts below). Holiday has also launched and I picked up three items from the collection to review today. So there’s a little bit of everything in today’s roundup post. I hauled these items from both Nordstrom and Sephora but you should be able to find most everything at all Dior counters now (I think holiday is still trickling in stores).

For holiday Dior has a mix of items with shimmers and mattes. The eyeshadow palettes look gorgeous in the formulas but colors aren’t really up my alley like they were in previous years so I limited my picks to three things:

  • Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in Precious Rocks 001 is one of the smoothest shimmer highlighters I’ve tried. It’s so unique with an opalescent shimmer quality. To me it has a pinkish beige tinge and depending on how the light catches it, sometimes it will look more warm/gold but if you see it in person I think you’ll see it’s definitely more pink. On my olive medium tone skin this has a light opal pink finish. If you are fair this may look more peachy/deeper on you. When I first swatched it I thought it was going to be a near dupe for the regular Nude Air Luminizer in 002 but it’s not (comparisons below).
  • Diorific Matte Fluid Lip & Cheek Velvet Colour in Charm is something I had high hopes for since last year’s options were just perfect and festive for holiday. I picked up one shade in Charm which is different from last year’s Charm. This year is a nude pink but it dries down to a dusty finish. If you are lighter in complexion than me or darker I think it will look more flattering. On me it just makes me look a little dead. Drydown is nice for a matte, but it’s more of a satiny matte.
  • Diorific Vernis Nail Lacquer in Ruby is a metallic pink ruby red and the shimmer is smooth and free of brush strokes. It has some pink which gives it a more youthful effect compared to a traditional red.

I’ve been a long-time fan of the Dior Airflash Foundation but anyone who has tried it knows it’s one that takes a bit of time to apply. I tried some other foundations and concealers from the line and love everything I’ve bought. My base picks and testing include:

  • Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation in 21 and 31 – this isn’t a new formula but for some reason it escaped my radar for a long time. I’ve featured it in my summer base edit here. I matched myself and in store 30 was perfect. When I got home I applied it and found it oxidized a full shade darker and looked very pink. I went back and found that 21 and 31 have a more yellow undertone and since I tan easily (and loose my tan just as easily) I decided on both to mix the colors. The formula is medium but buildable to full coverage and looks natural. It holds up well in the humidity here and I love the way it covers everything up evenly.
  • Diorskin Forever Perfect Cushion Foundation in 21 and 30 – this was a newer launch last month in the US and is one of the best in-between cushions for coverage. Most cushions I’ve tried are either very sheer or very opaque. This is a good in the middle option. Colors are very limited though – I wish they would expand the line! I was lucky to find two matches. Again I picked out two shades 21 and 30 (since they don’t have a 31).
  • Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer in 30 and 31 – is also a new launch, I can’t remember the last time I tried a Dior concealer so I can’t compare this to others, but this has impressive coverage with smooth creamy texture. It is similar to NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer but the Dior isn’t quite as creamy or emollient and it has a slightly more matte finish. I use this both under the eyes and on spots. 30 is more neutral and 31 is more yellow.

Additional misc items below, I saved the worst for last. Sorry to be harsh but these weren’t up my alley. I had such high hopes for these too!

  • Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain in Vibrant Metal and Delicate Satin – I am a huge fan of the Rouge Dior Brilliant Lipshine & Care Couture Colour so I thought I’d like these. There are a few finishes: Satin, Matte and Metal. I knew I wouldn’t like the mattes so I tried the other two. The Vibrant Metal shade looks so pretty in the tube and swatched on the hand but on my lips it’s like I straight up applied this hideous copper orange foil onto my face. Delicate Satin is a more wearable color and I actually like it for a warm neutral rose pink brown. I just find the formula too airy and mousse-like, it has that silicone powdery feel which I don’t like on the lips. It also wears off really easily. I suspect that matte ones wear better but since I really don’t like mattes on my lips because they make them look like raisins I passed.
  • Metalizer Eyes & Lips Cream Shadow in Platine Fusion – is a metallic cream shadow that you can use on the lips or eyes. I felt these were best suited for eyes. It has a very fluid texture in a squeeze tube that doesn’t retain its shape well. The color is swatched in the top swatch photo and you can see the color is very standard and basic. I will say that it does have great lasting power – once you put it on it doesn’t budge, but I’m just not the biggest fan of the finish (it is sheer but buildable) and the packaging style just wasn’t my cup of tea.
