I love the summer sunshine and warm weather. It’s one of the main reasons we picked Florida to move to from San Diego because we really just love the sun. I’m especially fond of summer for beauty because bronzer is in and even though I wear it year round, I’m always looking forward to new formulas and colors. There are quite a few new summer launches that I’ve been loving – if I made a comprehensive list it would be quite long. Many of you want a super edited version so I’ve picked my top five summer beauty essentials to share today.

My five simple summer beauty must-haves include:
- A good body oil – I just did a roundup of summer body oils for soft glowing skin, of course right after I did my testing Maison Margiela launched a Replica Beach Walk Dry Body Oil (thanks to one of my readers Lori for putting this on my radar!). I still really love my top picks as mentioned in my previous post, but Beach Walk is a summer beach vacation in a bottle. This one has a salty more beachy feel compared to the fragrance version. I think the two layered together makes for the ultimate summer combo. The Dry Oil feels silky smooth on the skin and is nicely hydrating. Also huge plus it comes with a spritzer! Notes include Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Coconut Milk, Heliotrope, Musk, Cedarwood, Benzoin. There’s also a Body Lotion and Shower Gel version too.
- An everyday sunscreen – my go-to winning brand this summer is Supergoop! with a tie between the Sunscreen Mousse and Everyday Sunscreen. I carry both in my purse almost all the time (I alternate between the two and they both come in travel sizes). Both have SPF 50 and are easy to reapply. I find it impossible to stay out of the sun here in Florida and sun protection is a must. Both have been really good at preventing the burn and protecting skin. - Summer fragrance – I’ll do a roundup of the best summer smells soon, Tory Burch just launched a new fragrance called Bel Azur and it’s just beautiful. It comes in a few sizes. It has a light fresh and sweet combination with a bright feel. Notes include Bergamot, Mandarin, Lemon, Neroli, Pink Peppercorn, Peony, Patchouli Heart, Vetiver Heart, Cedarwood Oil. I notice peony and neroli a lot in this one.
- Lip moisturizer – I’m a lip balm junkie and I’ve been really loving the Clarins Lip Oils. They have a nice lush feel and are super easy to just swipe and go. They launched new shades this spring including two that will change color with your lip chemistry. In case you missed it, review and swatches in this post. There are 7 shades total now. They give the lips just a slight tint of color.
- Bronzer – I’ll forever be loyal to Edward Bess’s Daydream as my holy grail, but this season I’ve also been loving the Becca Sunlit Bronzers and Guerlain Terracotta Ultra Shine Bronzer. For the Guerlain one I have to say Cafe Makeup made me do it. We both stopped by the Guerlain counter during our beauty trip in New York earlier this spring. It rained in the city the day we met up but it didn’t stop us from going all around town to scout out the best in beauty. The artists put this on her at Bergdorfs and it just made her skin glow in a naturally beautiful way! This one is really gorgeous.
Also not beauty-related, but to date the best summer sandal splurge I’ve made are the Tory Burch Miller flip flops. They are really quite expensive but 100% worth the splurge. I wear them everywhere and am a bit embarrassed to admit how many different colors I’ve bought by now but they’re really comfortable and they make wearing flip flops fashionable.

It’s hard to find a bronzer that doesn’t pull red on my skin :-/ but I find GA Sun Fabric quite lovely; it’s my favorite so far.
To be honest, the only beauty bronzer I like for my face is by Clinique. I have been using the same one for several years. It has a light and a dark shade. I use it all over my face and as an eyeshadow base. It may not be the most glam of bronzers out there, but it works for me!
I don’t use bronzers; i have a few received as gwp that i sometimes use as eyeshadow or blush though.
My favourite bronzer is Too Faced Milk Chocolate soleil 🙂
Guerlain terracotta, though bronzers never look quite right on me, so I usually go without.

I do have Daydream from Edward Bess (just because of your recommendattion!) and like it very much. I also often use Terra from Tom Ford. My current favourite bronzer is Soleil Tan de Chanel. It is difficult for me to use it at winter (looks quite orange), so I enjoy it during summer very much! Most days I also use a second bronzer on top of this and it looks very naturally.
The other day I ordered Sun Tonic from Guerlain’s summer LE and I am curious if it will suit my skintone.

My favorite bronzer is the Tom Ford Terra and from your suggestion, I was able to find the La Mer Glowing Body oil. I must try Replica Beach Walk Dry Oil.
I also have the Tom Ford Terra bronzer although I’ve been using some of the other TF summer LE bronzes to try and use it up. Too much TF inventory!
I have very fair skin and tend towards cooler colors, so I haven’t found a bronzer that really interests me.
My favorite bronzer is Terra from Tom Ford (seems to be a popular choice based on other comments)

My go to bronzer this summer is Hourglass’s new Diffused Bronze Light, I find it a perfect subtle bronze when applied lightly. My previous favorite was MAC’s Aphrodite ‘s Shell but I used it up and sadly they haven’t re released it again.
I have been using a lot of Chanel bronzers the past few years and I love the cream one that is always sold out Soleil de Chanel bronzing makeup base and I have an old one by Orlane that looks like a big blue pancake that I still love.
I’m loving the Diffused Bronze Light by Hourglass. Lasts all day and is very subtle.
I’m a fan of RMS Buriti Bronzer. I totally need to try Edward Bess’s Daydream. Thanks for the opportunity!

I love the Chanel bronzing base but lately I’ve been using Hoola by Benefit and loving that. The Hoola Lite is great for my neck when I feel like my face is a little darker than the rest of me.
This summer I’m loving cream products, including RMS bronzer and liquid and cream blushes from Stila, The Body Shop and Chanel.
Love the Tory Burch Miller sandal as well!

My favorite bronzer is probably the physician’s formula butter bronzer but hoola is a close second.
I’m so glad you like the Replica oil! I received the shower gel last week and LOVE it. I really hope Replica does these products in the Lipstick On fragrance, it’s a staple for me (I swear if I’m having a bad day this is perfume instantly lifts my spirits!).
And forgot to say Nars Laguna is the staple bronzer I buy over and over. I really want to try Guerlain soon.

I rarely use bronzer but I’ve heard good things about the Cover Girl Queen collection ones especially for dark skin like mine.
Beautiful post! Summer is my favorite time of year too! Funny you moved to Florida because I actually moved from Florida to San Diego last year! I love bronzers, but every time I see a new one come out, I have to stop myself because I haven’t even hit pan on many of the bronzers I already own. I love Hourglass, Bobbi Brown & Laura Mercier bronzers and the Milani bronzers are very nice too! I always wanted to try the Chanel cream bronzer. I just picked up the new Clinique Illuminating powder in “Golden”, which is more of an all-over finishing powder, but they do make a darker bronze version. I usually don’t like those types of powders, but I really am enjoying the Clinique powder! Have a wonderful Summer!!
I just picked up the Clarins Lip Oil in Red Berry and I’m in love. It makes my lips look so plump and healthy! Fave traditional bronzer is probably Benefit Hoola, but right now I’m loving MAC Extra Dimension in Glow With It as a shimmery bronze blush.
I can’t find a bronzer that I like. Maybe I just don’t know how to apply them.
I really need to try body oils. I always use moisturiser but may need to try some oils!

My favourite bronzer is probably Guerlain 4 Seasons, it’s amazing and it pains me that they’ve discontinued it! Hopefully, Tom Ford Ultimate bronzer will be able to take its place in my makeup stash.

OMG a body oil from Maison Margiela! I must go check that one out. And currently my favorite bronzer would have to be either the bronzer from the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (I’m hella pale so it works great) or the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Bronzed.
Bronzer is one of my top favorite products so it’so hard for me to choose just one.. if it was a ‘dessert island’ case though I think I would probably take my Bobbi Brown in ‘Natural’ as it is one of these I always go back to, bo matter what esle I try 😉

My favorite bronzer is by Han Skin in Maui.
The only bronzer I’ve tried so far is the bronzer quadrant in the Coco Codes blush harmony released late last year. I am so inexperienced! I do think that one is pretty, though.
I will have to try those sunscreens !! I am always on the hunt for a good one as I live in the sunniest place possible… and that body oil sounds and looks amazing I will have to give it a go

I just learnt recently how chemical sunscreens might not be good for you (and I’ve been using it whole my life I believe) so in search for new ones now.

My absolute favourite bronzer of all time is the Chanel Soleil De Tan. It’s so warm, buttery and melts into the skin leaving this soft silky finish on my skin. Not to mention looking like a lil bronze goddess 😛

I haven’t worn bronzer before but I’m curious about the NARS Laguna bronzer.
I don’t wear bronzer. But my By Terry blush and bronzer palette does contain some bronzer shades and I actually put on the bronzer today because despite all that sunscreen, I did get a little color.

I haven’t tried a lot of bronzers because I already have tanned skin but during special occasions I like to use hoola bronzer on top of my foundation. Guerlain terracota is great too! I’ll definitely purchase one when I hit pan on my hoola.🤗
I really appreciated your post on the best summer oils. I received the Ouai Rose Oil in the sample size, and am loving it for summer. Moisturizing without being heavy, because as humid as it is in the Mid Hudson Valley I need something light.

I am loving the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer in Baked! It’s a great color, not too warm or cool, easy to blend, stays on well, and is just so easy for a light summer makeup look. I am interested in trying Tom Ford Terra though.

The Clarins lip oil IS perfection! I’m of the thinking the “slipperier” the better, I don’t like hard balms like EOS, and this one is super luxe, and not watery.
I’ve tried both the Clarins lip oil and the Supergoop sunscreen mousse and like both. I like the smell of the sunscreen mousse quite a bit. I just wish it didn’t feel quite so heavy.
That Guerlain bronzer it’s so luxurious, the color seems like it would be nice for me!

I wish bronzer worked better for me (or perhaps that I were better at applying it!). I own a ton of them, from Tom Ford to Hourglass to Guerlain, but bronzer just seems to make my sallow skin look muddy. Even in summer, a better look for me is a gray contour (like Chanel’s Notorious) and pink/rose blush (like Edward Bess’s Bed of Roses). Too bad, because that Guerlain Shine bronzer looks gorgeous!
Saw the Ouai set that you got from Sephora for $22..contemplating getting it..lol. Current favorite bronzer is TF terra..but I will have to look into the Edward Bess one. Actually don’t have any of his products but I know you rave about them. I’m gonna say, Sabrina from beautylookbook made me do it (:

Right now enjoying the Benefit Hoola Contour stick – it’s a nice mix between bronzer and contour. Also quite subtle, since I already have quite a bit of a tan!

(i hate reformulations!) 🙂

I love the Clarins Lip Oils too. The best I’ve ever had.
I’m all about NARS Laguna. I love that it doesn’t have glitter but still has some shimmer and dimension. I wish they didn’t put it in all of their palettes/gifts etc, but it is still a great product!
Guerlain Blondes is my favorite bronzer. It’s a kaledeiscope of multiple shades and adds a beautiful hue.
My favorite bronzer is the Guerlain quad in #4. I am always on the hunt for a bronzer that is matte but not flat, muddy or too orange. I feel like I have tried them all in my search. I like the LaMer bronzer, but it doesn’t show on my skin (I’m only medium, so it puzzles my why I can’t find bronzers dark enough to warm up my complexion). St. Tropez has a new powder bronzer out this year and it is pretty good. I like Laura Geller, Bare Minerals, and Tarte bronzers, but still haven’t found the “one” that can top my Guerlain quad. I also can’t have sparkle due to texture issues with large pores and acne scars… I don’t ask for much, huh? LOL. Thanks for your amazing posts and photos!

Surprisingly my favorite bronzer for face is the Chantecaille. Unfortunately I can’t recall the name off the top of my head but it’s the new one for spring/summer in the spotted egg packaging. It’s just bronze enough to give me a healthy glow.
I love Chanels’ Soleil Tan de Chanel for bronzing all over the face. I find it’s quite natural and the neutral undertone suits my skin well.
I like the too faced chocolate bronzer, it gives me a hint of glow in summer.
I am currently loving the Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Bronzed Bondi!
Hi Sabrina, I just love your summer product posts – especially your sunscreen posts. So informative and helpful when shopping. My go-to bronzer right now is the Hourglass Luminous Bronze Light. I feel like I’ve been using this since it came out and the pan is still going strong. Sometimes I change it up with some of the Chanel limited edition bronzers or the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzing base.

I’m currently using the Smashbox Contour Sticks and the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, but I’m seriously thinking about getting the Marc Jacobs Bronzer – unfortunately, it’s always sold out!
My number one favourite bronzer is the Physicians Formula Butter bronzer because it smells like coconuts and sunscreen and it blends like an absolute dream! Sunscreen, a light BB cream, and a nice perfume are mu summer beauty must-haves! x

I used to use The Body Shop bronzer religiously (I think I used the lightest shade). I stopped using bronzer all together a couple years ago when I stopped wearing foundation. Without foundation or any type of a base, bronzer looks too harsh on my very pale skin.
After this post, I am dyingg to try the Supergoop Mousse! I have been using their oil sunscreen as per your recommendation, but I would love to switch things up!
Ah, I don’t have a favorite bronzer. This is a step I skip in my routine since I am always short on time. Brows are always a must for me though.

Bronzer is my thing. I bought tomford terra, edward bess daydream, CT..after seeing them in your blog. I like all of them but TomFord suites me best. I was looking at your review on CT first love blusher and am wondering how it is different from bronzer? It looks like almost bronzer to me…I like the finish of CT blusher as some how it blurs my pore. I don’t wear blusher but am interested in First Love
And next to bronzer, foundation! Your foundation was always best and very helpful. I have enlarged pores and my skin eats up foundation so foundation does not last as they promises. So far power fabric works better than any others and I am thinking to start using Tomford per your recviews. I will definetely try the water proof one. If you have to choose foundation stick between tomford one and hour glass one, which one would you choose? I know you previously liked tomford one but when I read your recent post, I got the impression that you seemed to favor hourglass stick over tomford stick, so.
