March 20, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! The past few weeks I’ve been testing some new haircare and skincare items. There are several items I’ve already fallen in love with. I’m particularly smitten with the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Gentle Shampoo and Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum. I hope to have roundup features and reviews in the upcoming weeks on some tried and true plus new favorites.

One thing I’ve been on the hunt for is a good eye cream for day and for night. I’ve accumulated a few sample packets and minis from gift with purchases and samples from online orders (I’ve been testing La Mer, Tatcha, Fresh, Chanel, First Aid Beauty and more). If you have any favorites I’d love to hear what you use and love. The Chanel Sublimage Eye Cream is the best one I’ve tried but I’m trying to find something less expensive (although at the end of the day I think that one is the one for me). If you’ve tried the Le Lift version, what did you think?

If you follow me on Instagram @beautylookbook you’ll notice a wave of flowers filling my feed. There’s nothing quite like having simple fresh cut flowers in the home to change the mood and refresh the look of any room. To all those who follow me and take the time to comment throughout the day, thank you!!! It means so much that you take the time out of your busy lives and schedules to comment and like 🙂

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

I'm really loving the SK II Essential Power eye cream for night, it soaks in quickly, isn't greasy, and doesn't cause milia. For day I am in love with Ioma Flash Youth Eye Contour Concentrate (unnecessarily long name). This has such a nice cooling feel, gives a nice wake me up feel, and I love that it can be used all around the eyes. I purchased mine at Saks, but recently I haven't been able to find the brand not heir site. When I asked customer service they gave the generic "I guess we're out of stock" answer. It's not just the eye cream gone, but the whole line so maybe not a great recommendation.

I cant wait for your review of the Chanel Hydra Beauty serum. I'm looking for something light weight for upcoming summer, maybe this will be it?

Hi Shauna, thanks for the eye cream recs! I've been tempted by the SK II eye cream as I've been really happy with everything I've tried from the line so far. The Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum is a nice lightweight serum. One of the lightest I've tried but still delivers beautiful hydration. I think it will be perfect for summer!

I completely understand about the Sublimage eye cream…I really think it's the best one I've ever tried, but it's painfully expensive. I've ordered a set of 5 sample sizes off eBay; you get the same amount of product (15 ml) but it's less than half the price. I realize, however, that eBay is not everyone's cup of tea! I am currently using Le Lift as my day eye cream and I really like it. It's not hydrating enough for me to use it as a night cream, but maybe that will change in the summer if it ever arrives here.:)

Thanks Jess – a few friends have recommended the ebay route as well but it seems too risky for me (even with good seller ratings). Thanks for the tip on the Le Lift, I just placed an order online for some mascara and a sample of the Le Lift is on its way so I'll give it a try once it arrives.

Thank you Lori! You are too sweet 🙂

You have a beautiful feed! I recently tried the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy Overnight Balm. I love it because it's really moisturizing and my eyes look brighter in the morning! Hope you get to try it.

Hi Pam, I do have this one and I've tried it for a few weeks. I really like it but the Chanel is still my favorite based on samples.

i really like the La Mer gel for DAY. it isn't rich enough for nighttime – but it feels wonderful, has a pump applicator which is great for my rushed mornings, and i don't have to wait very long to apply my cosmetics over top.

i haven't found any WOW nighttime eye creams. i am using Sisley's right now and i'm very happy with it but i could be convinced to try something else 🙂

Thanks SJ! I do like the La Mer Gel for day but like you mentioned it's not enough for night. I keep hearing good things about Sisley but still haven't tried anything from the line.

I recently got a sample of Le Lift but I haven't tried it yet!

For day I use Clinique's all about eyes. It's lightweight and causes no creasing with my concealer. For night I love Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye. It's amazing! I tested a couple of Chanel's formulas thanks to samples, but somehow they are all irritating. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye definitely works best for me.

Thanks Alexandra, someone else also emailed me about Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye. I think I'll have to see if I can get a sample to test out. Thx for the rec!

Hi. I really love the Chanel Le Lift eye creme…,it's great for the price point. Sublimage is awesome and actually the scent is mesmerizing to me, but the price…ouch! I also like La Mer eye balm intense…I keep going back to Le Lift because of the price though… 🙂

    • Sabrina March 22, 2015 at 10:02 pm

I'm in the same boat as you with the price points 🙂

  • AnneD March 21, 2015 at 4:30 am

I like Le Lift but since I am older, the SA recommended Sublimage. I went with Le Lift anyway and think it works great for moisture and suppleness. I like the Hydra products also, but I always get shooed away from them because of my age. I buy them anyway!

    • Sabrina March 22, 2015 at 10:03 pm

Thanks Anne! I'll have to check out the Le Lift then 🙂

For day I love Amore Pacific Rejuvenating Eye Treatment Gel and I don't think I'll ever stray from it. It's very moisturizing and perfect under concealer. For night I like Cle de Peau Anti-wrinkle Eye Contour Balm, it contains retinol and is very hydrating.

I've only tried Le Lift moisturizers and serums. I've also tried and love Amore Pacific Time Response eye cream (oh, and moisturizer) and thought they were divine. However, I tend to take the more clinical route when it comes to skincare. I'll mix a little Retin-A with whatever I'm using. Right now I'm finishing off a bottle of the NeoCutis PSP wonder eye cream, and I have an iSClinical one to use after that. I also tried a sample of one of the Laboratoire Remede (bliss spa line) and thought it was wonderful.

    • Sabrina March 22, 2015 at 10:04 pm

Thanks for the recs Kirsten. You sound like a mix-master when it comes to skincare! I think I have a few minis of the Amore Pacific Time Response Eye cream. I'll have to see if I can find them and give them a whirl.

I love all the Chanel but I recently bought Kiehls new eye opening serum..loving it and I do love their midnight recovery eye at night..much less than the Chanel..they also have a de puffing stick..I carry that with me..very cooling ..love for the hot weather in Florida. And if u fly a lot..travel friendly. .think it's $20..I bought a bunch for stocking stuffers.

    • Sabrina March 22, 2015 at 10:05 pm

Interesting! I'll have to google the depuffing stick. My eyes are prone to puffiness occasionally.

  • kimmiegc March 22, 2015 at 12:39 am

I adore Neocutis Biolumiere eye cream. It has no scent and is medical grade skin care. Love it! Kim

I love chanel sublimage too.. Less expensive wud b elizabeth arden ceramide capsules, have u tried it? I also like guerlain super aqua specially before applying makeup, it hydrates and makes concealing a dream job. Also try some estee lauder advance night repair eye serum or advance time zone. Hope this helped..

Try Shiseido's Benefiance WrinkleResist 24 Eyes cream. This is the most Sublimage textured cream you will find, and it costs much less. This eye cream has been in Shiseido's line for many years, with a bit of a name and formula change a few years ago. I have found nothing to have a lasting effect like this cream. Love it, and you need only the tiniest amount.
