Loving Right Now

December 28, 2014

I can’t believe that this is the last week of 2014. I will have a year-end roundup/review shortly with some thoughts and reflections soon. For now I wanted to share a few things I’m loving right now. As always I would love to hear what you’ve been loving too!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes are a current favorite. It has the perfect mix of glow and pigment in one compact. I’ve been reaching for Luminous Flush lately which brightens the complexion and adds a nice healthy glow with the soft shimmer. Review + swatches here and here.

I’m a sucker for cute notebooks and Vianel has small Moleskin Pocket Notebooks that you can have personalized (for now the personalization is free of charge). I like that they give you a choice of engraving on the front or back of the notebook.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Peter is a pretty neutral nude shimmer I’ve been really pleased with. Based on reader comments, many of you seemed to like this one most in my recent post here. I like it so much that I bought a backup.

Marc Jacobs O’Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara is seriously good. When it comes to mascara it takes a lot to impress me, most mascaras turn grey on my lashes once they dry or smudge or flake. The Marc Jacobs O’Mega volumizes and separates my lashes without any clumping or flaking. It holds the curl without looking crunchy. Once it dries the color remains a true black. I will definitely be repurchasing it.

So many have raved about the Aesop Parley Seed Cleansing Masque. I have a few loves from Aesop for body products but many of the facial skincare products have a really strong earthy and herbal fragrance which I cannot tolerate. I decided to give this a try and am thoroughly impressed. This mask is amazing. It is gentle on the skin but really works to remove impurities from the pores. What I like about the Aesop mask is that it seems to be perfect for sensitive skin. It has a soothing feel once applied. There’s no tingly or burning feeling. If you have super sensitive skin and want a good clarifying/cleansing mask I highly recommend looking into this one. It has a natural earthy scent but it’s not too strong and actually quite soothing.

With the dry weather I’ve been exploring more in hand creams. I’ll have a roundup of all the ones I’ve been testing later this week. One new discovery of mine is the Eve Lom Hand Cream. For those who cannot tolerate highly fragranced hand lotions this is a good one. It has no added fragrance but still has a nice super lightweight naturally clean scent. It has lightweight airy texture that moisturizes well and absorbs quickly into the skin. A more detailed review to come soon.

For the home, I’ve been obsessed with Diptyque Figuier. In my opinion this is the best fig candle that I’ve tried (it beats Henri Bendel and Jo Malone, although those are very good too). It’s a good holiday candle that gives a warm and cozy feel to the home.

Last but not least, I’ve been loving the Faux Fur Throw from Williams-Sonoma Home (used in the background of the photo above). It’s super soft and thick and warm.
What have you been loving right now?

    Hi Sabrina,

I love your throw! I have a real weakness for faux fur anything. (Maybe more so as winter seems to last half the year here in Chicago…)

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:46 am

Thanks Dovey! Winter just arrived here in Southern California so it arrived at the perfect time.

I have not heard much about that Marc Jacobs mascara, but after reading your glowing review I am definitely going to try it. And I am currently loving the NARS Audacious Lipsticks, especially the color Greta, it's the prettiest bright pink!

I'm loving the byTerry mini lip baum set. Abolutely fabulous! I would have missed it had it not been for your lovely review Sabrina! I am still crazy and use daily the Marc Jacobs minis gel liner that came in a set recently. I have also been using daily a Guerlain coffret available at duty free of meteorites pressed powder, blush, and highlighter in pink leather zippered compact. Just lovely!

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:48 am

Hi Lisa, I'm so glad you were able to get that By Terry set! I think the size and packaging is pure genius.

This picture is just life. Amazing! I can't get over the Hourglass blushes, every time I try another, it's never as good as Hourglass.

Thank you Darlingdee, if you like Hourglass I would recommend giving Charlotte Tilbury a try. They have a similar luminous quality that is really pretty on the skin.

I love the Aesop parsley seed mask. I also use and love their Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser and Geranium Leaf Body Scrub. Makeup wise I am loving the Dr. Hauschka Lipstick Novum's. I have four of them and they are great. Perfect if you like a sheer wash of color. They are similar to the Dior baumes. I'm also loving W3LL People's Bio Brightening powder. It is similar to the Laura Mercier brightening powder but the W3LL People seems to make my skin look much brighter and glowy. I like to use it under my eyes and the LM always makes my under eye look dry when I do that but I do not have the same problem with the W3LL People. Also loving Treat nail polish in Cocktail Party and Date Night. Perfect for the holidays.

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:49 am

Hi Jo! I adore the Geranium Leaf body cleanser and scrub, but they always gets used up so fast for me! I just bought another of the shower gel. I have the scrub on my wishlist 🙂

good choice with the Peter – stunning on you!!

if you like mascaras that stay black you might try Serge Lutens Oeil Pour Oeil Mascara. yes it is stupid expensive but it is VERY black and stays black. it also wears like iron. it does lengthen and volumize well, but i wouldn't say that is where it's strengths are – i have others that do better in those categories. i loooove wearing this for day time because i can go to work, then come home late and my mascara looks just put on.

    great post!!

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:50 am

Thank you! And thanks for the recommendation on the Serge Lutens, I've managed to avoid the cosmetics for this long, the prices are just too much for me. Perhaps I will splurge later this year 🙂

I've neglected my HOURGLASS blush, I think I might need to pull it out and start using it again. x

Love this and Mmmm, that throw looks so inviting-LOL! Peter is amazing on you! I think I missed how pretty that one looks when I first read your post. I'm so excited he brought out a smaller, more "affordable" option–excited at the possibility of owning a TF lippie:)

    • Sabrina December 31, 2014 at 1:51 am

Thanks Michelle! I hope you get a TF lipstick soon! They are really fun and a treat to own.

The blush and lipstick look beautiful! I've been hearing a lot of good things about that Marc Jacobs mascara. I'll have to try it soon
