Truffle Insider Holiday Sale Event

I’ve been obsessed with flat zip pouches and clutches pretty much my entire adult life and finding simple classic-looking ones isn’t always easy. Truffle makes sleek looking ones I’ve found are very well made. Their Clarity Clutches help keep me organized and I love the see-thru aspect so I don’t have to dig through my makeup bags to find what I’m looking for – my go-to is the small size because it fits in most of my bags. I’ve also been obsessed with the Privacy Clutch. Last year I stocked up on tons of these during the sale and gave them out as gifts. They are the perfect size to carry the essentials: phone, lipstick, powder, keys. I like that it can really be used as a clutch.

Over the past year I’ve teamed up with Truffle to photograph their pieces for their website. If you’ve been eyeing the pouches, document cases and clutches and want some ideas of how to use them, here are some photos I took that didn’t make the final cut.

Molton Brown Friends and Family Sale, October 1 – 5

Today the Molton Brown Friends and Family Sale starts on their US site where everything is 25% off with code FRIENDSUSA. All orders also receive free standard shipping (woohoo!). The sale starts today and goes on through Monday October 5th. There are a number of cute gift sets including this Mini 4-Piece Candle Set and this gorgeously packaged Hand Cream Trio.
A few holiday sets have launched early. The Holiday Shower Gel and Hand Wash Baubles are back. Gingerlily is sitting in my cart right now because it’s the most heavenly relaxing scent I’ve tried and the boxes this year are more beautiful than ever. The Fiery Pink Pepper Holiday Cracker (for her) and the Re-Charge Black Pepper Cracker (for him) are super cute for stocking-stuffers. Also in my cart is the Men’s Travel Luxuries Set for my husband and the Women’s Travel Luxuries Set (it has minis of all the Gingerlily items, body wash, body polisher, body lotion,  hand cream + a mini shampoo). I hear the Lip Saver is really good – so I might give that one a try as well. If you have any recommendations on the Hand Washes I’m all ears – the ones I have are running low so I need a replacement soon.

Do you have any Molton Brown favorites you’d like to recommend? I’d love to hear about your tried and true. The Shower Gels are always a winner for me. I’m obsessed with their Hand Creams and the packaging is compact, super cute and pretty affordable. The Holiday Baubles were so cute last year, I am glad they are back again.

Last Few Days for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

July 31, 2015

There are only a few more days before the Nordstrom Anniversary sale ends. Prices go up on August 3rd. I placed one last order online today for a few more items. Thanks to several of my readers who recommended this Deborah Lippmann The Stripper Duo – I don’t think I’ve ever seen the jumbo size in stores so I’m glad I was able to get this from the sale. Sara Happ is another highly recommended brand – my friend swears by the clear shine lipgloss so I ordered two of The Sparkling Pink Lip Set (one for me, one for her). This Kiehl’s Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap is on discount for the sale – I stocked up on a few for my husband. The fourth item I ordered is this Ahava Mineral Hand Cream Duo – several readers emailed me about this the last time I wrote about hand creams stating this was their favorite – I’m giving it a try. Last but not least I ordered the Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Hair Set.
Three last things on my radar that I haven’t pulled the trigger on include the NARS Blame it on NARS Cheek Palette, this MAC Sophisticate Face Kit and these Kate Spade 53mm Sunglasses. The glasses look like they have small frames which is what I need but I won’t know for sure until I try them on. I’m hoping my Nordstrom store will have them when I stop by tonight.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access Starts Today

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access starts today for Nordstrom Cardholders. At the top of my list each year for the sale are the Beauty Exclusives, Paige Denim and anything from Zella (I’m obsessed with their capris). The catalog arrived last week with a sneak peek. I’m happy to see there is a wider selection online and in stores. Be sure to check out the gift with purchase offerings too – store options may vary. On my wishlist and radar:

Diptyque has three gift sets this year, each set has a 6.5 oz candle, a 3.4 oz eau de toilette and a solid perfume. The options are Do Son and Tubéreuse, L’Ombre dans L’Eau and Baies and Philosykos and Figuier.

There are a lot of value sets and multi-packs including the Rose Balm Lip Trio, Supergoop! 3 Pack of SPF 50 Mists, Phyto Hydration Brilliance Kit, and this Lancome Mascara Wardrobe. YSL has a Rock Attitude Glossy Stain Trio with Glossy Stain No. 7 Corail Aquatique, Pop Water No. 204 Onde Rose and Plump Up No. 200 (swatches in this post here of 2 of the shades).
NARS has a gorgeous Blame it on NARS Cheek Palette exclusive to Nordstrom along with a couple Lip Pencil Trios.

Dior has four Nordstrom exclusives this year. On my radar is the neutral Rosy Eye Reviver Palette and this peachy Majesty Nail Polish. I hope to check them out in person today.

Also on my wishlist includes the Compact Styling Set from T3 (on sale), Look in a Box Pretty Neutral Set from MAC, and possibly this Lorac Palette (because it’s only $15).

Shoes are always good for fall preview. These Enzo Angiolini Manna Heels look like classic staples but might be too high of a heel for me. (Have you tried these before?) I’m in some need of a couple pairs of ankle booties. The Dolce Vita Kadie Bootie is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Last but not least, Longchamp has several colors of their Le Pliage Expandable Tote for the sale in Black, Navy, Red and Slate. When we were in Paris, my husband and I picked up Expandable 21 inch version (not on sale) because our carry ons weren’t quite enough (after this purchase, we each had 2 bags to carry on flights). After using it for 3 weeks I’m a huge fan of expandable bags.

Sephora Beauty Insider Sale / VIB Rouge Haul

I took advantage of the Sephora Beauty Insider sale and used my VIB Rouge discount for a massive haul. I planned on stocking up on skincare and haircare staples, but there seemed to be a wave of new beauty launches too. I ended up placing a couple of orders online. Here is the majority of what I bought. I have one more package coming in the mail but I’ll be out of town when it arrives at my home later this week. Be warned, this list is very long.

1 + 2 + 3 / Surratt Beauty just launched at Sephora, most of what I wanted was already sold out by the time the sale started, but I managed to order three Artistique Blushes in Guimauve, Parfait and Aurelole plus the Large Custom Palette Case. I also bought one Lip Lustre in Coquette.

4 / Urban Decay released the Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation in a wide range of colors. Each of the main shades come in Warm, Neutral and Cool. I picked out Medium Light Warm, I hope this is the right color for me, it’s hard to tell in stores.

5 / Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders in Dim Light and Diffused Light come highly recommended by my readers as all over setting powders. I have Dim Light in the Palette Form which I really like but feel it’s easier to dip a large fluffy brush in a larger compact. I’ve been obsessed with Diffused Light after testing it for a few days, it’s the perfect all over setting powder.

6 / Koh Gen Do Cleansing Wipes are a must for me. I stocked up on the 3-pack.

7 / Laura Mercier Baked Blush Bronze Compact in Ritual is new for me, but I don’t think it’s a new shade. I have swiped it a couple times on the hand and it looks very dark, but there is a pretty pink glow mixed in. From what I have read, each one has different swirl patterns.

8 / Lavanila is new to me and I usually buy Dove deodorants but the concept of a soft vanilla scent in deodorant seemed really interesting. Fresh Vanilla Lemon is a light vanilla with a hint of citrus.

9 / SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil has been on my list to try for a long time. I decided to use the discount to save on this since full retail is $70. Review to come as I play with this.

10 / Christian Louboutin Nail Colour in Wherever is a deep but bright blue cream. I reviewed all of The Nudes here. I have several of the brighter Pops Colors and love the formula.

11 / Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7 in The Lolita and The Lover are really pretty neutrals. Swatches and review posted here.

12 / Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers Duo is a Sephora exclusive. Review of the full size version here. This duo has a small pack of Evening Papers in a darker color that is purse-sized. I haven’t tried them yet but I couldn’t resist a small one for clutches or small bags.

13 / YSL Gloss Volupte in Nude Carat has been on my radar for a while. The sale made me do it.

14 / I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from the Drybar line. These Hold Me Hair Clips are perfect for sectioning hair up when you curl, straighten or blow dry the hair. They are large and angled so they really grip large sections of hair without tugging, pulling or getting tangled without leaving dents.

15 / Tarte is a line I haven’t explored much of but the Smolder Eyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner has gotten so many raves. I bought Sunstone Bronze.

16 / Surratt Beauty Surreal Skin Concealer seems promising as it comes highly recommended by Beauty Professor. I don’t have immediate access but I ordered Shades 4 and 5 based on her swatches. I’m excited to try it.
