Inside My Chanel

June 7, 2011

I tend to carry a lot with me in my purse. I accumulate things over the week so by Thursday, the purse of the week is typically chock-full of way too much. So for the woman who carries too much, what’s the best way to carry the just essentials? Find a smaller purse. Today’s feature will be on what’s inside my Vert Fonce (Dark Green) Quilted Caviar Wallet On Chain (I believe this style/color combination is exclusive to Saks).

For those new to Chanel, the Wallet On Chain is exactly that. A larger sized wallet/clutch styled bag put on a chain to be worn over the shoulder. It has a few slots for your id and credit cards plus extra pockets and 2 zippered compartments. It’s just the right size for just the essentials: keys, phone, id, money and a lipstick.

Inside mine: Edward Bess Lip Gloss, Chanel Rouge Allure Laque, mini Jo Malone purse spray (received as a GWP from previous beauty event), iPhone, keys, gum + id/cards, cash in the zippered front pocket

The little black case is a leather Jo Malone cologne holder, it came with 2 mini sprays and just so happens to be the perfect size for 1 mini cologne + 1 mini lipstick, I wish more brands did cute GWPs like this with useable cases/bags:

I don’t know the last time I carried this little. Even with my pouchettes, I tend to pack them. You can check out these resources for more information on pricing, dimensions, styles, colors, seasons styling ideas here:

Green isn’t really a “me” color but the moment I saw it I had to have it. That said, after having this for less than a week – I’ve found green is new to me for my wardrobe, I have quite a few kelly greens, no army greens yet. I will have to experiment in the upcoming weeks trying to coordinate green with the rest of my wardrobe. It matches the Khaki Vert nail polish perfectly (previously reviewed here), but as mentioned the other day, matching green nails with a green purse = too green. Overall a great going-out bag, perfect for biking on the weekends around the beach, nice for running quick errands, but for everyday – not so practical since I tend to carry a lot more than just the essentials. I’m still in love with the quilted texture.

Minimalist on Monday

April 4, 2011

I think every week should have a three-day weekend. Two days simply isn’t enough time to do the things I want to do (the fun stuff). Today’s look is quick and easy with a simple black cotton dress, tan belt, black flats, ivory leather bag. Outfit is almost entirely J.Crew (I can always rely on them for a classic simple look). Leather bag is by Balenciaga. Makeup is all barely-there natural colors. I’m a minimalist at heart even if my natural “no makeup” look isn’t really minimalist if you break it down to what I’m wearing.

Inside the bag:

What I’m wearing today: Chanel Tweed Rose Blush, Chanel Taupe-Délicat Eyeshadow Duo, Chanel Espresso Stylo Yeux, Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara, Chanel Confidentielle Rouge Allure, Chanel Star Glossimer, Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne, Chanel Peche Nacree Le Vernis

I hope each and every one of you have a great week! Remember Chanel Rouge Coco Shines come out this week in the US!

Inside My Miu Miu + A Few Things In The Works

January 20, 2011

Featuring right now: my Miu Miu Bow Satchel, from the first generation of bow satchels made in 2007. It’s been a whirlwind of a week. I’m backlogged on everything in my non-work life at the moment so new product reviews will have to take a break for a while. I will, however, be covering a few frequently asked questions in the near future:
  1. Since there are rumors that Chanel’s Teint Innocence will be soon discontinued in the US, have I found a holy grail foundation replacement?
  2. What are my must-have eye makeup brushes?
  3. Can I feature my collection of leather goods/accessories?
  4. Do I have a holy-grail-products-of-all-time list?
  5. How do I coordinate/pick out my nail polish colors for tips and toes?
In the meantime, here is what I’ve been carrying inside my Miu Miu Bow Satchel. It’s the small size but it’s still very roomy. When the bow satchel was first released, there were two sizes: small and large. Mine measures 6½”H X 12½L X 4½W.

Wearing: Cole Haan Black Carma Pumps, Theory Pencil Skirt, Banana Republic Top, J.Crew Sweater

As you can see, it fits quite a bit, and there is still more room inside for more. Inside = everything I need to take me from day-time-office to touch ups for night:

LV Alexandra Wallet, Gucci Sunglasses, J.Crew Calendar, iPhone, Candy, Keys
, Paul & Joe Makeup Bag with Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss #54 and #55, Rouge Allure Incognito, Paul & Joe dual lipliner, mini brushes, Armani Eyes to Kill Excess, NARS South Beach Multiple, Bobbi Brown Sand Castle Cream Eyeshadow, MAC Athma Eyeshadow Quad, MAC mini strobe cream

Inside My Marc Jacobs Little Stam

November 22, 2010

Featuring my Marc Jacobs Little Stam. Lacquered Quilting from Fall/Winter 2010 Collection in Pink.

Peeking in:

Inside: Mini calendar, mini Coach Makeup Bag (gifted to me from the 2002-ish), Coconut M&Ms, small wallet, pens, iPhone

Contents spilled:

Inside my over-packed Coach makeup bag: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink, Edward Bess Afterglow Highlighter, Trish McEvoy Little Black Card with Nude Shimmer Powder, Shell Eyeshadow and Raisin Eyeshadow, Diorshow Mini, L’Occitane Hand Cream Fleur Cherie, Chanel Star Glossimer, Chanel Mica Mini Glossimer, Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in Ming, mini brushes

Some of you have asked about the way I care for my handbags and why some look brand new even when they are from around 2005ish. Care and maintenance is something I learned from The Purse Forum. I highly recommend visiting the forums there for tips. I view my purses as luxury goods which I handle with care. I only wear super dark denim with my darker purses. Lighter purses are worn with care (usually ok with denim after having gone through at least 3 wash cycles). When not in use, I keep them stuffed with the original stuffing and stored in dustbags out of the sun. When possible, I store them upright, if they are flatter bags, then I lay them on a flat surface in my closet or on my shelves and make sure heavy things aren’t set on top.

Most of the bags I own are still in fairly good condition. Do I have any bags that show wear and tear? Of course – it’s natural that things get worn down with use, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t usable. Wearing down and ripping usually occurs at the bottom corners – places that aren’t always highly visible but have frequent contact.

Again, I can’t reiterate enough how helpful The Purse Forum is. I’ve found tips by designer since certain brands have different styles by material and finish. Of course I’ve been guilty of a number of no-no’s. Carrying pens, hand cream and nail polish in my bag is like an accident waiting to happen. So far, no catastrophes yet for me – but it’s bound to happen one of these days. Sometimes I just throw in what’s convenient and forget what I put inside until a week later.

Anyways, hope you all have a great week! Hope it’s a short one for the US girls and that you get a few days off for the holiday 🙂

Inside My Marc Jacobs Large Single

October 15, 2010

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t believe another week has flown by. Some of you are probably wondering if I will ever get to responding to your comments on recent posts. It has been my intention to do so for the past week, but I’ve been short on time and sleep. I will do my best to catch up this weekend. This is kinda a lazy post but know many of you like to see what’s inside my bag. I was able to fit a ton of stuff inside my Marc Jacobs Large Single in Beige from last spring (see my grey one from this fall modeled here). Those wondering where you can find the beige one – it’s probably very hard to find at this point since it was released about a year ago. However there is some good news! The MJ Resort Collection has another beige version which seems less pink and more cream colored but I haven’t seen it so I can’t confirm. You can see it on The Purse Forum’s Marc Jacobs Resource section.

The Large Single is a lovely purse but I think I will have to stop using it for work. The handle is on the delicate side and while it is sturdy, it doesn’t seem to be designed to support a heavy bag. If I do use it for work I’ll have to carry a lighter load by limiting my makeup to a lipstick and powder, perhaps one more small compact. (If you scroll down you will see I have my Paul & Joe makeup bag crammed full with way too much stuff.)

What I fit inside:

I love how the Spring 2010 Beige version has the slightest hint of pink to it.

Have a great weekend everyone!
