Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Petal 135

December 13, 2014

I’ve received a few requests for a lip swatch on the Petal 135 Classic Cream Lipstick I featured in yesterday’s Dolce & Gabbana Beauty roundup. The online stock photos for Petal on my screen look lighter and less saturated in color compared to the real lipstick. I tested out a few of the nudes and Petal is a medium neutral nude pink. It’s the perfect balance between warm and cool, on me it leans slightly warm which works better for my lips.

Here is Petal 135 swatched on bare lips:

For skin tone reference, I am wearing NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation in Punjab (reviewed here) and Dolce & Gabbana Powder Foundation in Warm 100 (reviewed here).

Comparisons added to some other nude pink lipsticks, same set in both photos, just slightly different lighting:

Tom Ford Pink Tease Lip Color Matte (reviewed here)
Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick (reviewed here)
NARS Raquel Audacious Lipstick (swatches here)
Tom Ford Pink Adobe Lip Color
Tom Ford Pink Dusk Lip Color (lip swatch here)
NARS Vanessa Audacious Lipstick (swatched here)
Armani Rouge Ecstasy 103 (review + swatches here)

I hope the lip swatch + comparisons help!

Thanks for the swatch, Sabrina. I read the post yesterday and was one of those wondering what this looked like on the lips. In the arm swatch, it looks identical to CT Bitch Perfect….which I already have. You just saved me some money on yet another lippie I don't need! But of course want.

It does look almost identical so definitely no need for both lol. Glad I saved you some $$$ 🙂

Thank you Sabrina for the swatch! I was just thinking yesterday when you said you loved the lipstick if we could see it on you. This post was really helpful!

Beautiful shade. Wish I could wear it but I doubt I could handle the scent. 🙁
Patiently (ok, maybe not so patiently, lol) waiting for your review of the TF minis.

Hi Gail, I've been working on them, hope to get some up by the end of the week (fingers crossed).

How does this compare to one of the Aerin lipsticks? "Pretty" comes to mind. Sadly, DG lipsticks are heavily scented & do not agree with me.

    • Sabrina December 18, 2014 at 12:14 am

I'll have to see if I can find Aerin Pretty to compare, if you can shoot me an e-mail to remind me, I'll get back to you.

    Hi Sabrina,

Petal does look like a nice balanced shade on your lips! I love the effect, and wish I could wear medium pinks with as much ease. For some reason they tend to look much darker on me!

    • Sabrina December 18, 2014 at 12:14 am

Thanks Dovey! Weird how certain colors turn on lips, cool-toned pinks usually turn weird on me.

I was thinking it would be slightly less peachy than BITCH Perfect but a fairly close match. It's a great shade!

  • michelle December 15, 2014 at 7:00 pm

Very pretty! But are they still highly fragranced?

    • Sabrina December 18, 2014 at 12:14 am

      Yep!
