Spring Makeup Bag Refresh

Spring Makeup Bag Refresh | The Beauty Look Book

Spring beauty launches are here in full swing and there is so much to explore this season! I love that there is literally something for everyone this season whether you want something glowy or matte, sheer or full coverage etc. Most of my new discoveries are from Sephora so I’ve teamed up with them to share my top beauty picks for a spring makeup bag refresh.

Spring makeup launches everyone is talking about, Urban Decay Naked Reloaded, Hourglass Tinted Lip Oil, Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Foundation

Spring Base Favorites

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Foundation in Latte

The Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance Perfecting Foundation is one of the best new bases that launched this year. (My match is Latte). It’s luminous and radiant without looking too dewy and feels like second skin. Coverage is medium and buildable to full coverage and looks very natural! Complexion is brightened and evened out beautifully. I love this with any of her primers like her Radiance Primer or Protect SPF 30 Primer to help extend the wear. Make sure you set a powder. Any loose setting powder will do but my two favorites are the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose or Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder. Sometimes I’ll add the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose in Glow on the cheek bones for a little more radiance.

Lightweight Brightening Concealers

Armani Power Fabric Concealer, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Laura Mercier Flawless Concealer

I feel like my go-to concealer is always going to be the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger but I still love trying out new formulas. Many of you like the ones that are creamy and lightweight for under the eyes. I’ve recently discovered the Armani Power Fabric High Coverage Stretchable Concealer in 6.5 and think it’s an excellent alternative for a similar blendable feel but with a semi-matte finish. It has a creamy easy to blend feel making it really nice for under the eyes. I am a 6.5 in the Luminous Silk Formula and usually like to match my concealer shade, but you might want to go a shade down if you need extra brightening. The Laura Mercier Flawless Concealer is another great lightweight option that isn’t quite as creamy as the NARS but still blends nicely. I wear 3W in this formula.

Three Go-To Cheek Products

Becca Sunlit Bronzer, NARS Orgasm Blush, NARS Radiant Booster

There are a lot of great cheek palettes out this season but I’m really liking what I already own for this spring transition. I find the best natural bronzer to warm up the skin without looking overdone is the Becca Sunlit Bronzer. The shade options go from light to deep so there is something for everyone – even super fair skin girls who feel like they cannot wear any bronzer. I also think for spring anything peachy or pink-gold is universally flattering. You can’t go wrong with something like NARS Orgasm. For a natural cream highlight that won’t look greasy or too sparkly I highly recommend the NARS Super Radiant Booster.

Neutral Eyeshadow Colors

Urban Decay Naked Reloaded from Sephora

Urban Decay Naked Reloaded swatches

The eyeshadow palette I’ve been most excited about is the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette. It’s a really pretty updated version of their original Naked and I’m 100% obsessed. For something deeper with more mattes opt for the NARS Skin Deep. If you want something simpler for an easy everyday wash of color on the lids I’ve always sworn by the Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks. I often layer 2 colors together and then add a liner for a super quick and easy eye.

Spring Lip Must-Haves

Favorite Spring Lip Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip

Spring Lip Must Haves Bobbi Brown, Hourglass and Dior

I’m still really loving the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip. They’re probably my most reached-for lip products this year. Mixing and layering the colors will give the best effect – I love mixing Lychee Baby with Juicy Date or Peach and Quiet. For a tint and balm in one you really can’t find anything better than the Dior Addict Lip Glow. I’ve loved the classic shades like Coral for years now, but my favorite is the Rose Gold option. If you want to splurge on a tint + oil the Hourglass N. 28 Lip Treatment Oil in Adorn is a really pretty pink rose.

You look so young and fresh in these pics! I never noticed your dimple before in the last pic. So cute!

Awww thanks! Yes I’ve always had dimples 🙂

Love the jeans you’re wearing. Do you mind sharing the brand and style? I’m always looking for the next greatest concealer. How does the Laura Mercier one compare to the NARS or the MUFE Ultra HD self setting one? The SA at an Armani counter told me the new Armani would be too matte and drying for me.

    • BeautyLookBook March 12, 2019 at 5:31 pm

Sure! They’re by Frame, style is Le Skinny de Jeanne Jeans and color is Queensway – it’s one of their classic styles and colors, bought them here http://bit.ly/2EXnWyF hope that helps!

The LM Concealer isn’t quite as creamy as the NARS but has similar coverage. I haven’t tried the new MUFE one so can’t compare to that one.

I don’t find the new Armani concealer too matte or drying, but if you want a more creamy highlighting one for under the eyes or forehead, I think NARS is still the best.

oh wonderful! also where did you get that GORGEOUS tan leather bracelet??!! must have!!!

      • Tatiana March 12, 2019 at 11:50 pm

Thanks for the concealer info. My skin is very mature with a tendency to be dehydrated. So it sounds like the NARS is my best bet. Thanks for the link on the jeans. I’m petite so I’m always looking for jeans that I don’t need to cut off six inches to be able to wear them. I love a good rich blue, too.

Too bad you have only one face!

  • Kirsty Snovicky March 12, 2019 at 11:18 am

The Armani Power Fabric Concealer sounds interesting! I’ve been using their High Precision Retouch and love the coverage but find that it’s a bit clingy so something more creamy sounds perfect!

I’m really loving the BB Crushed Liquid Lipsticks too (thanks to your post)! I thought they’d bleed, but that’s not a problem, and they feel so good on the lips (and after they’re removed). I also purchased the Crushed Lipsticks in Telluride and Cranberry and love them as well. They’re unique shades, a little muted, and feel as good as the liquids. It’s been a long time since I really loved a BB product, but these are super. Great review, as always!

    • BeautyLookBook March 13, 2019 at 3:43 pm

Oh good! Glad you liked them 🙂 I agree with you on the Bobbi Brown line, I think her recent launches have been nice surprises!

I’m Still trying to use through my old purchases .. I love the liquid eyeliners of late and I keep gravitating towards tinted lip oils.

  • Arianna March 12, 2019 at 9:35 pm

The shimmer shades in the UD palette are so beautiful. I’m a sucker for a good shimmery eyeshadow 💕

I’ve mainly been using lipstick and then aquaphor because being a concierge is exhausting. 10 hour days are killer. Pat McGrath and Tom Ford are great though! Getting married on the 30th of March and it’s in a fancy backyard. Will you do a post on doing one’s own wedding make up?! I kid, but I’ll take any tips as I have no clue yet. Bought a dress from Anthropologie and Ted Baker heels!
And for this time of year, glitter toppers work great in the humidity of Savannah, GA!

    • BeautyLookBook March 13, 2019 at 3:42 pm

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! That’s so exciting. I don’t have a post or tips – we got married at the court house and never ended up having a wedding/ceremony.

Whatever you do I’d try a test run with a flash camera. I really love the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation for a long-wear no smudge, no flash back base. For blush something soft and diffused like Marc Jacobs Air Blush or Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chics are nice.

I really loved Chloe Morello’s wedding makeup tutorial (if you search on YouTube it will pop up.)

Whatever you do I’m sure it will be gorgeous!!!!

The NARS concealer (actually both of them come to think of it) is my go-to and has been for ages. It’s definitely not going anywhere! On my wishlist is the NARS Super Radiant Booster. I know I’m going to get it, it’s just a matter of when (but soon since it’s LE).

  • cpbebe March 13, 2019 at 8:19 am

Bobbi Brown has captured my attention with the latest releases. Crushed Liquid Lip is my new go-to, in Haute Cocoa and Smoothie Move. I repurchased the Extra Lip Tint in Bare Pink Sparkle from the Ulla Johnson capsule collection. I wish they’d make this color permanent! I also picked up Bare Raspberry, and for my caramel skinned teen daughter Bare Nude is perfection. Just started to play with the Haute Nude palette, and having fun. I haven’t been tempted by a Bobbi Brown palette in years, but I just had to get this. Good color options for fair skinned complexions like mine. Pink tones and lovely shimmers make my eyes feel Spring ready!

    • BeautyLookBook March 13, 2019 at 3:20 pm

Ooh nice! I wonder if the Ulla Johnson Bare Pink Sparkle is really a new color or repromote, but either way I think they should make it permanent! I remember it from last year and it sold out in the blink of an eye. Great pick on the Bare Nude for your daughter – she’s a lucky girl!!!

      • cpbebe March 15, 2019 at 7:58 am

There is a slight color difference in the Bare Pink Sparkle. the “new” one is a peachier base, but not enough of a difference to make me disappointed. It is just enough for me- the Dior ones are a little too blingy for my mature lips. But I might give Rose Gold a try, based on your rec. I am really curious on the new Laura Mercier foundations, since that seems to be the replacement for the Candleglow. Any chance you will be doing a full review? please and thank you

I think the Naked Reloaded palette has been calling my name, but I’ve been unsure until I saw your swatches of the colors. And, now, I think I need it in my life. 🙂 I have also been eyeing the Hourglass N. 28 Lip Treatment Oil in the color you mention, Adorn, and may have to splurge on that, too. I went in a Sephora last week to see if they had it there, but they only had what I would call the “clear” one. That won’t keep me down, though! Thanks for the great spring suggestions! I love them all!

I have got to try that Laura Mercier flawless luminere foundation, it sounds incredible!

The UD palette is so pretty, I want to purchase it but I’ve been putting myself on a no buy lately. Love all the products that you’ve featured on here.
