New Spring Beauty Launches 2018

Spring launches are trickling in and I’m so excited to see what will be launching in the next few weeks! A few new spring items that have caught my eye – highlighters still make my heart sing. I will have reviews of everything in this roundup in the upcoming weeks.

What’s on your radar this new year?

I thought I had escaped wanting anything, but now the new Dior luminizers are calling. I have always rued not buying the Glowing Gardens from two years ago and have to make this up somehow. That’s the justification.

My fave foundation, YSL Fusion Ink, is discontinued. I need to find a new one. No doubt this project will occupy much of 2018. I did end up buying the Tom Ford Traceless stick, matched to color 4, but it is too whitish. The next shade down was too orange. The search continues…

    • Oh no! So sad about your YSL – have you tried the All Hours Foundation? It had SO many rave reviews!

      • Suzanna

It is too matte for me. I might just have to go with Touche Eclat. The color 30 in YSL is almost perfect for me to wear year round since I can sheer it out in the summer and use bronzer to deepen a bit. No other color line works as well as this. Tom Ford has nothing for my skin tone, unfortunately. I fall right between the cool Fawn and the warm Bisque.

  • I am trying very hard to limit myself this year (LOOOOOOOL) and stick to a makeup budget (LOOOOOOOOOOOOL harder) so that we can remodel our kitchen in our house, get my husband his car, and pay for the apartment we need to pay for in the other city we need to split time between for his work. It’s going to hurt. But on my list, I do have a few things:

My big excitement is that Shape Tape Foundation is finally sounding like it’s going to happen. A year after the big tease…I cannot wait. Whatever “soon” is… I am testing the new Nars one and it’s nice, though it needs more coverage for my tastes. I’m waiting for the Jouer one to get the shade expansion CZ Jouer promised bec I am hoping a shade that will work for me hits in that. That formula is gorgeous.

Those Dior highlighters look interesting. I have NEVER tried theirs. I suck at highlighting. I really have no damn clue what I am doing, and end up basically having two giant shiny cheeks!

I picked up the PTR Hungarian Thermal Water Cream the other day, which I don’t know if that’s technically spring or not. It’s nice, but I think I am clueless on what a water cream is and does. I don’t know if it’s rich enough for me for winter/with retinoid use, but it’s nice. It might be more spring summer so I might need to wait on that.

    • I know! I can’t wait for the Shape Tape Foundation to be released!

      • Swingtime

I use Shape Tape as foundation on bad skin days. As long as my skin is well-moisturized, it blends easily and looks more natural than you’d think. It’s a huge tube of concealer–this is the only way I’ll ever use it up!

I must be good too! If I actually do want to have this wedding, I have to save money! Only going to the courthouse and having a reception, but I don’t want to feed people sackfuls of Krystals!

      • Swingtime

Elope and have a party later. It’s cheaper and way more fun. My husband and I did it almost 31 years ago and I have never had a single regret.

        • nic

We have to go to the courthouse for his grandpa. He’s 95. We already cancelled the wedding that was October 2017. We will have that party eventually, we just have to wait for his family in Hawaii and his marine brother to be able to visit! We got fake married in the Savannah, GA snow last night!

        • I ditto this! We skipped the wedding and don’t have any regrets!

      • susan h

We got BBQ from Costco, grilled it with friends on a Mon evening in the summer. Around dessert, we surprised everyone with a quick wedding “ceremony” if you can even call it that. Basically we signed the papers. Everyone was so surprised but we all had a great time because it was intimate, casual and exactly what me and my husband wanted. With social media, there’s so much pressure to have that perfect wedding, but please do what makes you happy πŸ™‚

  • That Tarte palette has caught my eye, too!

The way you laid out this is so beautiful. It makes me want everything!

  • anna

Why is that candle more expensive on the NM site than the own diptyque site? Am I missing something?
It looks gorgeous though and the rose is probably my favorite from them.

  • Collar Wilson

I just purchased three of the four Chanel spring nail polishes. I purchased them through the link on your blog. Thanks, Sabrina, for your recommendations. I really enjoy your blog and look forward to your posts.

  • Daphney Degand

Smith and Cult’s nail polish bottles are so beautiful! I just want one on my vanity! Lol.

  • That Bobbi Brown highligther looks bomb af!

Just bought the Diptyque candle and am SUPER excited about the new Dior Lip Glows — my absolute favorite lip product! Thanks for the intel Sabrina!

  • nic

Ok, I really do want a Dior balm, but have no idea what color to get.

  • Alison

Well, I am another nude polish lover– for whom Dior’s Lady was a fave. (Although the TF one is also pretty good.) Powder Posse looks the closest. Here’s hoping it isn’t too dark. I am currently looking for a good dark brown liquid liner. Using the Stila now– not too bad. I am much paler in winter and so can wear more warm toned eye shadows and am trying to match the liner. I am also looking ahead to ultra violet as the color of the year and hoping that brings in some dark purple and blackened purple liquid eyeliners and maybe even a darkened purple mascara. Chanel’s Purple Choc has been my go-to. I know you got a poor quality one. Mine works fine, but still hoping for more options.

    • Yay!!! Glad your purple one works great. Also Dior Lady is the best, wish it was still available.

    • Gail

When is Powder Posse supposed to be released?

      • Alison

Not really sure. But I have my Dior and TF polishes out to compare.

  • Thanks for the link! I was actually looking for the new candle yesterday and they didn’t have it yet on the website. Just got it πŸ™‚

  • I am loving the new Dior things <3 <3 <3

    xo, Rosie //Curvy Life stories

  • I’ve been eyeing on those beautiful Dior highlighters. I’ve seen swatches online and they are surreally pretty!

  • I will never not love Dior lip products. And those highlighters! My wallet is trembling. <3

  • Jennifer Jones

I’m excited to see your review of the new Dior colors before I make make my selection.

I’m excited about the new Bite Pearl Multi-stick, Bobbi Brown release, and more Chanel glosses. I’m curious as to what Tom Ford will release.

  • Why is that Diptyque candle so beautiful why πŸ™

  • lawler

The Givenchy La Couture Atelier palette is speaking to me. I don’t know why. I am determined to make this work on my face. https://ba.fimgs.net/system/pics/thumbs/18360/product/po-m.18360.jpg

Outside of this, I generally don’t get very excited about Spring releases.

Although, I did grab the new Sephora Favorites lip set (which I don’t see on the site anymore) that looks like a cute, floral animal crackers box for grownups. It has formulas that are all new to me, which is a feat in and of itself, so I will count that as a Spring purchase. The La Douche color from Stila’s Shimmer and Glow line also looks divine. I am considering the Drunk Elephant Protini cream as well.

    • Interesting! The bronzey/brown shade in the palette looks really pretty!

  • bisbee704

I am trying to cut back…but the new Dior lip glows are calling kept name…I actually have 4 Dior lip products in my cart.

  • Anne Capitant

The Chanel Spring/Summer collection looks so gorgeous this year!

  • Catherine Shi

I just picked up Rose Delight candle from the SF boutique yesterday! Haven’t gotten a chance to open it and burn it yet, but it really lives up to it’s name! Lightly powdery sweet rose with just a touch of green to keep it from being too sweet. I enjoyed it a lot and I can see burning it well through the summer months.

I’m so bummed about the Dior glow balms. They look so fun and beautiful especially now with the new sparkly ones. I’m allergic to the sunscreen in them so have to pass every time. I might have to look into the new Chanel polishes – that pale pink looks so springtime perfect.

    • Diptyque Rose Collector twins. Still sad I missed out on Rose Duet πŸ™ Bummer you’re allergic to the sunscreen in the Dior balms!

      • Catherine Shi

Yes! Aww, yea I miss Rose Duet a lot. Reps keep hinting at how they recycle the rose fragrances and I keep waiting for them to bring it back. I was actually mildly offended when they brought back Rosamundi again last year (though I think last year’s was better than previous versions) but I guess we’ll just have to keep waiting!

I love highlighters alot,. but Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask seems to be best pick as I will be taking rest at home for few months post delivery,.. Nice picks,..

  • Nemo Saint Claire

I bought the entire Chanel Neapolis spring makeup collection. It is wonderful.

    • High Five!!!!! You are my hero.

      • Nemo Saint Claire

Got so excited to hear from my dear pal Eileen that I forgot to address her comment. Yes, I’m the same Nemo! Yes, I still worship at the shrine of CHANEL! The eye palette is exquisite. The lipsticks look dark but they are sheer & springtimesque. The blue gloss is wonderful. It applies with a soft shimmer, not in the least freaky. And btw, Eileen, you may recall that I loved Le Metier de beaute too. A heads up to all: LMDB does very little color these days but they did do an eye kit called Starry Nights. $65, not $95. I bought it. The pans of color cracked & big chunks of shadow fell out. I sent it back. Sad. The best of 2018 to you!

    • Eileen

      Hi Nemo!
If anyone were to buy the entire Chanel collection, it would be lucky you. I remember you well from BTIB (attorney, blue-eyed blond, right?) You always were a big Chanel fan. It’s a stunning collection of springtime light and warmth and I bet it looks beautiful on you. As for me, I have my eye on the eyeshadow palette and can hardly wait to see it in person.

      • Nemo Saint Claire

Hi, Eileen! So good to hear from you! So wonderful! I wish we could correspond privately. Sabrina has my permission to give you my email address!

  • Sarah Jiang

Turning around and running away to stick my head in the sand…

Holographic seems to be the word du jour for many of the spring collections. I’m hoping that the prestige brands will be a bit more refined and sophisticated than all the unicorn stuff that is better suited to teens and much younger women. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it’s just that at 74 I don’t think of myself as one of those mystical creatures. LOL I love Dior’s highlighters and will be taking a look at the Holo Pink one. That Bobbi Brown opal powder also looks interesting. We shall see.

  • I’m all about trying that new Fresh mask!

  • Swingtime

I’m really getting into Smith & Cult’s cosmetics. I love their Flatte Lip Stains (very comfortable to wear) and glosses (and I’m not a gloss girl). I’m looking forward to trying some of their new additions to their line–shadows, liners, blush. They’re expanding slowly, which is probably a good idea, but I find their products to be of exceptional quality.

  • Elise Alyson

I keep hearing raves about the Dior highlighters so I picked up the Halo Gold at Nordstrom yesterday (I was torn between the two colors, but my bf voted for gold so I took his suggestion and the two colors are actually quite similar on the skin). I am also curious about the Bobbi Brown Moisture Balms, but I will wait for some reviews. I’m trying chill with my beauty purchases in 2018 because, you know, I have way more products then I can reasonably use.

  • all that jae

That Diptyque candle is so pretty! I want it but don’t know if I need another Diptyque candle in my apartment. But the pretty packaging makes it so hard to resist!

I just bought Dior Lip Glow balm and very happy with that )) Thank you for your review πŸ™‚

Chanel is on my radar. I’ve purchased the cream eyeshadow, both eyeliners and a lipstick. I returned a lip balm/powder as it didn’t work for me at all. I see you have Bobbi Brown on your radar screen. I purchased the Opal highlighter in a 2016 Christmas set and it is my favourite Bobbi Brown highlighter, possible my fave overall. I also own the BB Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm, which is a regular member of BB’s Extra line. I understand this product has been renamed ‘Bare’.
