If you’re still doing some last minute shopping for gifts I have one last Holiday Gift Guide with some ideas for you!

A few of these I own myself and love. The Aesop Protector Trio ($82) has all of my Aesop favorites for the home. I think this makes for the perfect hostess gift! Their Adventurer Roll Up Hand Trio ($56) is another one I love with their hand sanitizers and hand cream.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to jewelry but if you’re looking for some nice classic pieces I love the Mejuri Bold Hoops Earrings ($160) that come in 14k Yellow Gold and White Gold. These are solid gold pieces and I wear these almost every day. I splurged on the Pave Diamond Bold Hoops version ($495) earlier this year and love them. Also love this dainty diamond necklace (worn here).

Lululemon is a favorite at our home. Both Andrew and I use or wear something from Lululemon nearly everyday. I love their Everywhere Belt Bag ($38). It’s the perfect size to carry just the essentials. I bought a bunch of these to give as stocking stuffers this year. I also really love the Everywhere Fleece Belt Bag ($48) which sold out super fast but I have seen it restock a couple times.

The Jewelry T Bar Stands I have that many of you ask about from stories are from Kendra Scott. I have both the Large ($85) and Small ($80) and think they’re really well made. I think these would make super cute gifts, also shown in this Reel here.

The Tarte Bow and Go Set ($35) restocked online at Tarte! And they’re having 30% off sitewide with code 30OFF at checkout! Sephora’s Beauty For All Event ends today with 20% off with code GIFTEASY (one-time use). I’m ordering this Gucci Perfume + Mascara Duo along with a few other things.

Last one I want to highlight is Skinstore! They have lots of great gifts at all price points, great sales and sets. I shared four sets on Instagram in this post here including the Holiday Edit Box ($75), 111Skin Jetsetter Pouch with my favorite Eye Masks ($30, available in Rose and Black), and the NuFace Fix Set ($139). US readers might be really excited to know they carry Nuxe which is so hard to find these days. I’m really happy to have been able to buy their Huile Prodigieuse Trio Set ($66.75) so I can have their body oil in my life again.

Omorovicza Skincare Favorites

Omorovicza Skincare Favorites

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to have a one-on-one interview with one of the co-founders of Omorovicza, Margaret de Heinrich. Omorovicza has been a long-time favorite for years and it was so great to connect with the brand founder and learn more about her skincare philosophy, background behind the brand and her own self-care routine.

The line was founded in Budapest where Margaret and her husband Stephen met. They were impressed by the healing properties and benefits of the Hungarian mineral rich waters and began their quest to capture these ingredients into their own skincare line. You can read more about their brand history and the inspiration behind their skincare line here. I love that she has so much passion for her brand! Also truly appreciate that she understands the seasonality of skincare as well.

I’ve used quite a few things from Omorovicza over the years. Long-time readers know that I’m a huge fan of the Queen of Hungary Face Mist. It’s made my favorites list countless times and they’ve since added a few more formulas to their lineup! For those new to the brand I thought it would be fun to share my Top 10 favorites!

Omorovicza Skincare Favorites

Cleansers

Omorovicza Cleansers

Readers know I love trying cleansers. I think having a good cleansing routine is essential to having clear healthy skin. I’ve tried nearly every cleanser Omorovicza has!

Moor Cream Cleanser ($82) is the first cleanser I tried and it’s one I’ve kept repurchasing. It has such a unique cream mud texture that works to purify the skin while moisturizing. It has Moor Mud with calcium, magnesium and a blend of essential oils to cleanse and purify.

Cleansing Foam ($82) is a sulfate free cleansing foam. This has been formulated for all skin types but for me I find it best suited for normal-oily skin or combination skin. It’s gentle and non-stripping but works to help remove excess oil. Key ingredients include Copper Gluconate, White Lupin Extract, Apple Pectin and their patented Healing Concentrate.

Queen Cleanser ($95) is one of the newest additions to Omorovicza and I love it! It’s like a cold cream cleanser and works well to clean the skin gently while calming the skin. Calendula extract calms the skin. It contains evening primrose oil, Vitemin E and linseed oil to smooth and protect the skin. This cleanser leaves the skin feeling soft and well balanced.

Peachy Micellar Cleansers ($52) these cleansing pads are among my favorite from the line. I use it as a first step cleanser to remove makeup at the end of the day. It has a super fresh feel to them. These contain natural Olive Oil Ester to draw out oil and impurities, Damask Rose Flower Water to soothe and soften and a gentle Patchouli + Peach fragrance.

Mask/Treatments

Omorovicza Blue Diamond Resurfacing Peel and Deep Cleansing Mask

There are several masks and peels from Omorovicza. I have not tried them all yet but two I really love are the Blue Diamond Resurfacing Peel and Deep Cleansing Mask. The Blue Diamond Resurfacing Peel ($200) is an ultra-gentle exfoliating and brightening peel with AHA and Lactic Acid. This is one of the few peels I can use that is gentle enough for my sensitive skin. You leave it on for a couple of minutes and rinse off. It’s recommended to use 2-3 times per week.

The Deep Cleansing Mask ($125) Is a great purifying mud-mask. It has a slight cooling effect and works to reduce pore size and clarify the skin without stripping it. It contains their Hungarian Moor Mud rich in calcium and magnesium to clear the skin. I’ll use this 1 time per week or every other week. I like that this one is soothing and not too strong.

Queen Cream

Omorovicza Queen Cream

For moisturizers I’ve really loved the mists from Omorovicza but haven’t really explored the other creams or lotions yet. One that I have tried is their new Queen Cream ($249). It is phenomenal! Margaret describes it as a cloud cushion for the skin and I couldn’t find a better way to describe it. It has a unique balm texture that glides onto the skin and doubles as a makeup primer. It primes and preps the skin for foundation. Love that it has a nice blurring effect!

Face Mists

Omorovicza Face Mists

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist

I’ve saved the best for last! I’ve loved the Queen of Hungary Mist for years. It’s a gentle hydrating mist that works to refresh the skin without being too heavy or oily. It has a mix of orange blossom, rose and sage. It’s the best skin refresher I own.

The Magic Moisture Mist ($99) is a bi-phase formula that also acts as a liquid moisturizer. It has oil and water that gives the skin a nice fresh glow.

The newest addition is their Queen of Hungary Evening Mist ($84). This is designed to help soothe the skin overnight and has lavender oil to relax, melatonin to repair the skin overnight and CBD to calm and reduce any inflammation. I keep this on my nightstand and I love it. It’s the perfect skin treat to end the day.

Omorovicza Skincare Favorites

You can find all of my favorites at Omorovicza. There’s a lot to explore by skin type and collection. They also have some items in travel size as well.

Giveaway On My Radar

On My Radar

April 3, 2017

On My Radar | The Beauty Look Book

I have a roundup of some items on my radar along with a giveaway I’m hosting to celebrate the start of spring! First a quick note that I’ve updated the look of my site with a new design. There will be little tweaks here and there in the next week – but all the loading and mobile issues should be fixed now! If you still have any trouble viewing anything please shoot me an e-mail. For today’s post I have a few things on my radar right now:

  • Madewell Leila Sandals (1) look like the perfect casual spring shoes that will be good for warm weather that have the comfort of flip flops but are a bit more dressy
  • Chanel Cruise Collection for beauty is already live on Chanel.com! I have a few things sitting in my online cart including the Les Beiges Powder (2) in Medium Light, Le Vernis (3) shades in Coralium, Coquillage, Sargasso and Sea Whip, Rouge Coco Stylo (4) in Panorama, will be finalizing my picks later today
  • I’m a sucker for rosy pink sunglasses and these Kate Spade Aviators (5) look so pretty, I’m hoping the frames aren’t too large!
  • Edward Bess has some new things launched on QVC and as a huge fan of his cream highlighters I now have his Harmonious Hues Light Stick Trio (6) on my wishlist, they look perfect for spring to summer
  • Bite Beauty has a cute pink tin set called the Love, Bite Lip Set (7) which looks tempting!
  • Antica Farmacista just launched their Lush Palm Collection and it’s divine! I’m in love with the Lush Palm Diffuser which they sent over and I’ll review it soon (8) but now have the Room Spray (9) on my wishlist
  • RMS Beauty has a new Magic Luminizer (10) which is described as a moonlit champagne, I rediscovered the Solar Eye Polish and fell back in love with it so now of course I’m intrigued by other items from their line
  • MAC Lipglass (11) packaging got a makeover and they added more shades, I’ve accumulated a stockpile of empties for B2M and plan on checking them out later this week
  • NARS has a new Sun Wash Diffusing Bronzer (12) in four shades, I’m curious to see how this compares to their current bronzer, I’ll be waiting to see and test in person before splurging, if you’ve tried this let me know your thoughts!

On Instagram + eGift Card Giveaway

November 8, 2016
Instagram Roundup @beautylookbook

I have an Instagram roundup and an eGift Card Giveaway today! I can’t believe it’s already November. The weather has definitely shifted although the forecast predicts warm weather in the high 70’s to low 80’s here in San Diego the air feels dry and my skin has definitely felt it. I’ve been pulling a number of creams, oils and lotions to see what works best for dry sensitive skin and hope to have a roundup of the best very soon.

For Instagram I receive quite a few questions on the items I post. I tag everything to make it easy for you to identify anything that piques your interest – they’re meant to be highlights, previews or snippets of what I’m loving at the moment. Here’s a roundup with some more details:
  1. My desktop is always cluttered with item I’m testing, swatching or simply just using. I know I’ve promised a beauty organization post and I promise it’s coming! I’m a perfectionist when it comes to finding just the right items finding storage solutions that work has been a long process. Anyways on my desktop: the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinishes (my favorite is Beaming Blush) and Glossier Serums (I bought these to see if they live up to the hype). One item I ordered from the Sephora VIB Rouge sale was the Elizabeth and James Find Your Nirvana Rollerball Set and it’s sooo cute! My favorite is still Nirvana Black. Also on the desk are a couple NARS Velvet Lip Glides (review here).
  2. The founder of The Dry Bar Alli Webb just released her first book Good Hair For All. I was thrilled they sent me an advance copy. I love that it’s hardcover, has great photos and is easy to follow. I haven’t tried any of the tutorials but I they look like it’s actually possible to do the styles yourself.
  3. Two things I love for dry skin are the Lanolips Balm in Strawberry (available at Ulta and Net-A-Porter) and the Jo Malone Germanium and Walnut Hand Cream (picked up from Nordstrom). The Lanolips is one of the best balms I’ve tried I was really surprised as I did not know what to expect.
  4. One of my outfit flatlays, you can see the Coach Clutch here, Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Med-Dark here, Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation and Shimmer Shots here. Top is by Joie (no longer available), flats by Chloe, jeans by Frame. The Dior Addict Gloss in Nude is one of the prettiest soft pinks I’ve ever tried. I highly recommend it!
  5. Diptyque Noisetier, Figuier and Feuille de Lavande recycled with the Lanolips Net-a-Porter Duo shown. The Noisetier is hazelnut and one of my favorite home scents for fall.
  6. Many of you have asked about my pets and how I manage their white fur. Short answer is that it’s a lot of work and it’s daily. We have 3 furkids, one ragdoll cat and two Jack Russell Terriers. As you might imagine they shed and have lots of energy so their fur gets everywhere. We have to vacuum multiple times a day, are always well stocked on swiffers and lint rollers. The lifesaver has been the iRobot Roomba 650 – we have gone through 3 variations in past the 11 years we’ve had our pets so they do last a long time (also available at Macy’s). It can be programmed to go off at scheduled times, has separate sensors towers so you can control where it goes. It does a great job at picking up hair, dust, lint etc. on hard surfaces and they are really easy to maintain and clean out. For the rug it does an ok job but we still need to vacuum with a regular one. If you have pets or kids even I highly recommend it. I have the iRobot Roomba 877 on my wishlist as ours probably needs to be replaced soon.
  7. Aesop released a new item called Redemption Body Scrub. I’ve been a long time fan of the Geranium Body Scrub. The new one has a more invigorating scent and also has oils to help nourish the skin. Le Labo Santal Shower Gel is a splurge but I love it everytime I repurchase it. One of the best dry skin remedies is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It helps with irritated skin, is gentle, hydrates and doesn’t sting. If you haven’t tried this before I suggest looking at the Minis Kit – you won’t regret it.
  8. One of my favorite scents for fall is still Bal D’Afrique. Fall scent and fragrance roundup in this post here. I’ll have a home scent roundup for fall to winter soon.
  9. I use Truffle pouches daily and my current favorite is the Clarity Clutch Mini because it’s small enough to fit inside purses without taking up a lot of room. You can see the black mini in action here and here.
  10. I will have reviews of the Louis Vuitton Parfums and CoverFX Enhance Highlighter Click Sticks up. I feel as though I have a lot of items on my to-do list that have been there forever. I’ve been pretty good at managing things and life in general but have been battling borderline burnout for the past month. So I thank you for your patience when you see that I say posts are “coming soon” but feel like it’s taking forever!
Last but not least I’m having another giveaway – it’s my way of saying thank you and giving back. In a world filled with thousands of blogs out there I’m touched from the bottom of my heart that so many of you return to read this labor of love on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The eGift Card Giveaways seem to be the most popular choice. I also have some backups I have in my stash of hard to find items that I will be giving away in the next few weeks so stay tuned! Good luck! I have lots to share and review coming up on the blog and can’t wait. I sometimes feel like I need to clone/replicate myself to edit and accomplish things faster. If you have any tips or tricks on battling burnout let me know in the comments! I’ve been trying things and so far have been able to manage stress by making lists, making a point to exercise daily, eat better to feel better from the inside out, I’ve juiced on and off for the past year and can share what I’ve tried if you’re interested!
