New Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colors

New Chanel Le Vernis Shades

I’m back! We’ve been away on a two-week vacation in Miami. We had so much fun with Ollie. He was such a good boy! I’ll be sharing more on the blog soon but if you want to see more from our trip, you can find more on my Instagram Miami Vacay highlights. I’ll share more soon but first wanted to share a look at the new Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colors.

Chanel revamped their Le Vernis Nail Colors ($32 each) with an updated brush and new colors. Some of the classics are still in the collection but there are lots of new shades. There are 24 total. The Chanel PR team sent a handful of beautiful colors for me to try. While in Miami I stopped by one of the beauty boutiques to check out the rest of the shades and picked up the new La Base Camelia and Le Gel Coat to try.

Also tried on these sunglasses and was tempted but did not pick them up this trip.

The new Le Vernis formula has definitely improved with better pigment, coverage and application. I think it’s actually just as good as the original version but the new brush makes application much easier with just a few brush strokes. According to Chanel they’ve made the pigment more concentrated. I wore my favorite shade Premiere Dame while we were on our trip and it lasted nearly a full seven days on the tips and on my toes they look fresh like the day I applied.

Chanel Le Vernis Original vs New Brush

Normally on trips my nail polish is destroyed within a couple of days because of all the sunscreen I apply. It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of formula I use, sunscreen can be fairly destructive to clothes, polish, the car seat etc. The gel coat and new nail polish formula combination held up remarkably well for me this trip though!

I did quick swatches in this video linked here (in case you want to see them in different lighting or in action). Each one applies with full perfect smooth coverage with two coats. Ballerina has significantly improved this round but for me still requires 3 coats.

101 Insomniaque is a pure neutral white

111 Ballerina is a beautiful sheer milky pink

155 Rouge Noir is a blackened plum (new version seems a little bit deeper in the base color)

131 Cavalier Seul is a beautiful soft sage green

So many of you wanted to know how Faussaire compares to Organdi so I’ve swatched it on a nail wheel below. They are similar but on my fingers Organdi is lighter in color while the new Faussaire matches my skintone more. I pulled what I could find in my stash to compare below.

Chanel Le Vernis comparisons

I’ve been such a long time fan of Chanel nail polishes. I know they can be hit or miss for some of you, but I’m really loving the new formula and brush. The base and top coat are listed as “new” but I’m not sure I can tell the difference from the previous formulas. They do have the newer wider brush. I really like how they perform.

Overall lots of pretty colors to choose from. A few of you commented on my video you’re happy to see more bright colors in this launch and I agree! It’s nice to see some brighter shades especially for summer. I still have my eye on a few more shades but I have so many to play with I think I’ll be set until the next seasonal launch.

Out of all the ones I tried I’d say my top 5 favorites are Premiere Dame, Muse, Cavalier Seul, Immortelle and Incendiaire.

You can find the shades out now at Chanel.com. Have you tried any of these new colors yet? What did you think?

New Chanel Fall 2022 Le Vernis Nail Colors

Chanel Fall 2022 Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colors

The Chanel Fall 2022 Makeup Collection with new shades of Le Vernis Nail Color and Rouge Allure is here! They launched a beautiful color palette of neutrals and everything is stunning. I’ve split my review into two parts: I have my picks of the Le Vernis today and Rouge Allure Lipsticks swatches will be coming in a separate post. The new lipsticks are phenomenal.

There are 12 new shades of Le Vernis in neutral nude shades. I have 11 of them swatched for you today. All the colors applied smoothly with a full coverage finish except one of the shades (Denude is semi-sheer). I like that they have nudes with different undertones. Some are more beige/yellow/brown and others have a more pink undertone.

Chanel Fall 2022 Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colors

New colors I have are below (I’m missing 957 which I’m undecided about purchasing). I received 5 in PR and the others I ordered online. All shades are swatched with 2 coats.

  • 937 Harmonie
  • 939 Singularite
  • 941 Spontane
  • 943 Enigme
  • 945 Emotion
  • 947 Desir
  • 949 Denude
  • 951 Originel
  • 953 Essentiel
  • 955 Inspiration
  • 959 Infinite

955 Inspiration is a gorgeous chestnut brown cream

959 Infinite is a perfect deep chocolate

All the colors performed well and I think they are all gorgeous. From a distance Desir and Infinite look almost identical, Desir is deeper and darker, Infinite has a bit more warmth. Based on how much I like Inspiration I think there is a very high chance I’ll also order the 957 color. If I do I’ll add the swatch to this post.

For those who want to know my current hand/nail care routine, it’s pretty much the same as what I have in my Hand and Nail Care Routine Favorites. I’ve also since added the Chanel L’Huile Camelia and Hermes Nail Oil to my routine.

Will you be checking out the new neutrals? What shades catch your eye?

Favorite Light Pink Nail Polishes

Best Pale Pink Nail Polishes

I’ve been on a baby pink nail polish kick lately and have a few favorites I love I wanted to share! So many of my favorite light pinks have been discontinued from Chanel and Dior. Rescue Beauty Lounge also used to make some of the best pale pinks (so sad they’re no longer around!). Here are my favorites right now!

Olive and June Pink Sands ($8, available at Olive and June) – This one is super creamy pale and opaque white-based pink, apply 2 thin coats for full coverage. (If you want something with a little less white base try Olive and June SE.)

_________

OPI Bubble Bath ($10-$10.50, Target and Ulta) – This is one I rediscovered early summer, I remember not liking it before thinking it was sooo sheer it was difficult to get the color to show up. I tried it again and if I apply 2-3 coats I find I get the perfect pale pink manicure.

_________

Gucci Beauty Ellen Blush ($30, Nordstrom, Sephora, Gucci) – I just ordered a few of the newly repackaged nail polishes from Gucci. This one has full opaque coverage with one stroke but I still prefer to apply 2. Ellen Blush is the perfect medium light pink to me.

_________

Essie Fiji ($8.99 at Target) – This will be hit or miss depending on your skin tone or undertone, it’s a cool-toned blue based pale pink with full coverage. It has the tiny skinny brush which I wish they would update. I do think it’s a classic pale pink on me though.

Essie Fiji Nail Polish swatch

_________

Essie Muchi Muchi ($8.99 Target) – Muchi Muchi is a medium pale pink on me. It’s not quite as pale as most lighter pinks which makes it more fun for me.

_________

Essie Gel Couture Polished and Poised ($11.50, Ulta) – A newer to me discovery, love that this is a really pretty light medium neutral warm pink that has full coverage but doesn’t have too much white in it.

For those curious, my go-to base and top coats are the OPI Natural Base Coat and Top Coat. More on my current Hand and Nail Care Routine in this post here.

What are you wearing on your nails for this summer? Any fun ones you’ve pulled out recently? I’m already working on part two with some baby blue shade, lilacs and corals. Let me know what you want me to swatch next! Peach? Lavender? Purples? Neutrals? Shimmers? Any other brands you want me to swatch?

I usually buy my OPI and Essie nail polishes from Target or Ulta. Olive and June has sent a number of bottles for press samples but I also buy from their website Olive and June and Target.

Pink + Red Nail Polishes To Try for Valentine’s Day

February 9, 2021

OPI Pink and Red Nail Polishes for Valentine's Day

I’ve swatched and rounded up some pink and red nail polishes to try for Valentine’s Day! OPI is one of my favorite brands for nail polish and they just launched their new Hollywood Collection. I received a few press samples to try but the ones that stood out to me were the lighter shades so I ordered them from Ulta (also available at Amazon). I decided to swatch of the new ones alongside a few of their classics. Colors I have swatched are all with two coats. I found they applied smoothly – I tend to prefer the opaque colors anyways!

For those interested in my DIY hand and nail care routine, you can see my Hand + Nail Care Routine and Tips post.

  • Movie Buff (Hollywood Collection) – pale creamy pink mauve
  • Hollywood and Vibe (Hollywood Collection) – pale cool-toned pink
  • I’m An Extra (Hollywood Collection) – medium pink peach
  • Suzi Calls the Paparazzi (Hollywood Collection) – neutral creamy pink rose
  • Princesses Rule – sheer sparkling light pink with microsparkles

Holiday Nail Polish Swatches OPI, Smith & Cult + Dior

December 27, 2020

Holiday Nail Polish Swatches OPI, Smith & Cult, Dior

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Holiday! Andrew and I had a nice Christmas eve with close family. We made Christmas dinner at our house this year and tried making gingerbread houses too which was fun but super messy! I have a nail polish swatch roundup of a few colors I’ve been loving this season. I have been sticking with my usual neutrals for the most part this year but thought it was time to switch things up and play with some sparkle and shine.

OPI Naughty or Ice? is a pretty semi-sheer pearlescent white. It’s similar to OPI Happy Birthday but the holiday Naughty or Ice pulls a little more champagne/warm.

OPI Snow Falling For You is a metallic light pink. It has minimal visible brush strokes so it applies pretty smooth. I love this pretty pink!

OPI Tinsel Tinsel Star* is a light blue-grey shimmer. It pulls on the sheer side with 2 coats (shown below). You can get more opaque coverage with 3.

OPI Merry In Cranberry is a pretty pearly cranberry shade. It has full smooth coverage with 2 coats.

Spring Polish Colors to Brighten the Mood

April 9, 2020

Best Spring Nail Polishes

acrylic display stand from Muji

Doing something as simple as painting my nails these days has some kind of calming effect on me. I’ve been painting my own nails for several years now and since we’re all stuck at home this might a good time to try and improve your own technique! I’m rounding up my favorite spring polish colors to brighten the mood. I’m kinda into softer shades and pastels at the moment. If you have any ones you love let me know in the comments!

First, if you want tips and info on a DIY mani, you can check out my hand and nail care routine roundup.

Chanel

Color-wise, my favorite colors right now are the Chanel Fleur do Pecher and Petale from the La Fleur Et L’Eau Collection. However many of you asked me for more budget-friendly recommendations so I’m sharing some colors I’ve hauled recently from Essie, OPI, Olive and June below.

Chanel Le Vernis Fleur de Pecher and Petale swatch_______________

Essie

Essie is a favorite among many of you. Color-wise I think there are some really nice shades. Formula-wise it’s not my favorite simply because I find other brands last longer/better on my fingers. They recently launched a new quick-dry formula called Expressie and it really does dry faster! I picked up 3 colors to give a whirl and love all of them. I can get full opaque coverage with 2 thin coats.

Buns Up is a neutral beige cream, similar to OPI Samoan Sand, but the Essie is not as yellow and also has more opaque coverage.

Essie Expressie Buns Up

_______________

Crop Top and Roll is a nice everyday neutral pink beige cream, I can get full smooth coverage with 2 coats as well.

Essie Crop Top and Roll

_______________

In the Time Zone is a blue-based cream pink, but isn’t too blue on my golden skin tone.

Essie Expressie In the Time Zone

_______________

For the spring color launch I think all the colors are really fun and fresh. I limited myself to 2 of them including Kissed by Mist, a light blue-based pink with tiny violet sparkles.

Essie Nail Polish Kissed by Mist

_______________

Spring in Your Step is one of the prettiest smooth pearl lavender colors I’ve seen. It flashes a very subtle hint of pink in the shimmer.

Essie Spring In Your Step

_______________

OPI

OPI is my favorite affordable nail polish brand. I think they have the best color selection and lasting power. I’ve used a number of their base and top coats in the past and love them to extend wear. My most-worn neutrals are Samoan Sand, Machu Peach-u and Tiramisu for Two. In case you missed the swatches, check out my Top 5 Best Nude Nail Polishes post. They recently launched a Neo-Pearl Collection and since everything is online only these days I relied on YouTube swatches to pick a couple colors. I normally prefer the regular formula, but it appears the Infinite Shine 2 options for this launch are better and less streaky. I ordered these from Ulta but it looks like they are sold out right now. You might have to do a bit of searching to find these.

I’m a Natural is the perfect pale pink polish color. It’s a soft pink that flashes a slight hint of blue. I think it’s perfect! This one is best with at least 2 coats. In online swatches and photos I’ve seen it flash more purple/blue. I guess it depends on the angle and lighting!

OPI Infinite Shine 2 I'm a Natural

_______________

You’re Full of Abalone is a pale ivory white that has a flashes a tiny bit of blue/violet. It’s sheer so I like it best with 3 coats. It’s a nice clean white that isn’t too stark or sharp on my skin.

OPI Infinite Shine 2 You're Full of Abalone

_______________

Olive and June

The Olive and June nail salon in LA is one of the cutest places I’ve ever been to. I’ve only been there once and it was the most expensive nail treatment I splurged on with a friend. We both still remember it! They launched their own line of polish and nail care products and I think they’re super cute. You can see a previous review of their Tool Box here. A few of their polishes are now available at Target, but the vast majority of their products are online at their website Olive and June.

GH is a pale pink that’s almost white on my skin. The formula is buildable so don’t be shocked if the first coat looks streaky. Just apply 1 thin coat, let it dry completely. The 2nd coat will smooth out to smooth coverage.

Olive and June Nail Polish GH

_______________

TT is a pale lilac, also almost off -white on my skin, but looks clean and fresh!

Olive and June TT

_______________

SE is a baby blue-based pink, best with 2 thin coats. You may need a third on this color.

Olive and June SE

_______________

BI is a perfect peach cream. The formula on this one was difficult for me to work with, but if you have patience to apply slowly and let each coat dry completely, I think the end result is pretty!

Olive and June BI

_______________

Favorite hand cream of the moment is Chanel La Creme Main in Le Lift or the La Mer Rejuvinating Hand Serum. Favorite cuticle moisturizer is Olive and June’s Cuticle Serum and Dior’s Huile Abricot. More recommendations here.
