I have a roundup of some items on my radar along with a giveaway I’m hosting to celebrate the start of spring! First a quick note that I’ve updated the look of my site with a new design. There will be little tweaks here and there in the next week – but all the loading and mobile issues should be fixed now! If you still have any trouble viewing anything please shoot me an e-mail. For today’s post I have a few things on my radar right now:
Madewell Leila Sandals (1) look like the perfect casual spring shoes that will be good for warm weather that have the comfort of flip flops but are a bit more dressy
Chanel Cruise Collection for beauty is already live on Chanel.com! I have a few things sitting in my online cart including the Les Beiges Powder (2) in Medium Light, Le Vernis (3) shades in Coralium, Coquillage, Sargasso and Sea Whip, Rouge Coco Stylo (4) in Panorama, will be finalizing my picks later today
I’m a sucker for rosy pink sunglasses and these Kate Spade Aviators (5) look so pretty, I’m hoping the frames aren’t too large!
Edward Bess has some new things launched on QVC and as a huge fan of his cream highlighters I now have his Harmonious Hues Light Stick Trio (6) on my wishlist, they look perfect for spring to summer
Bite Beauty has a cute pink tin set called the Love, Bite Lip Set (7) which looks tempting!
RMS Beauty has a new Magic Luminizer (10) which is described as a moonlit champagne, I rediscovered the Solar Eye Polish and fell back in love with it so now of course I’m intrigued by other items from their line
MAC Lipglass (11) packaging got a makeover and they added more shades, I’ve accumulated a stockpile of empties for B2M and plan on checking them out later this week
NARS has a new Sun Wash Diffusing Bronzer (12) in four shades, I’m curious to see how this compares to their current bronzer, I’ll be waiting to see and test in person before splurging, if you’ve tried this let me know your thoughts!

Charlotte Tilbury launched four beauty sets called the Quick N Easy 5 Minute Makeup Looks ($75 each). These are designed to be multi-tasking sets for the woman on-the-go who wants to enhance her natural beauty with a few simple products. I think these are great options for those who are new to the line and want a nice introduction to her brand. Charlotte Tilbury products are quite luxurious and on the pricey side so it can be a bit overwhelming to decide where to start. Before her line launched in the US I placed an order sight unseen from her UK site and it took me hours of research to pick a handful of items. I’ve been really impressed with almost everything I have tried from her brand with color, foundation and skincare (one of the only items I don’t love is her mascara because it smudges on me). I will say that if you already own a lot from her line you may want to take a close look at the content listings before splurging as these sets contain existing permanent items. Otherwise these are great!
There are four options to choose from. Breaking down the price points of the individual items in the set show that most of them give you a bit of a price break rather than buying the products separately. In addition most of them contain 1-2 miniatures which are great to try out without having to splurge on the full size. On the claim that these are “5 minute sets” I will say that on their own they are. I tested each one and was able to get a complete look with each set in 5 minutes. However the pre-work for me with skincare and base usually takes me around 5 minutes, so total get ready time for my face with these sets is 10 minutes or less. But just with the sets alone yes you can definitely get a complete look in 5 minutes or less as there are a few select products that are easy to apply on the go or when you’re in a rush.
Up first is the Daytime Chic Look which contains a mini Wonderglow (review here), Mini Legendary Lashes Mascara (review here), Classic Eyeliner in Audrey, and the Beach Stick in Formentera (reviewed here). This gave the most natural look for me. Formentera is a very dewy neutral rose brown color you can wear on the cheeks or lips. It’s emollient but not overly greasy. Finish is sheer but buildable to a sheer-to-medium finish. If you need color this may be too sheer for you.
Wonderglow is swatched heavily in all the swatches but when you apply it on the face it disappears into a very smooth sheer subtle glow. I like mixing it in with my foundation to add a bit of soft luminosity. I absolutely love that it has a yellow tint to make the skin look youthful and radiant versus the pink tints you see in most liquid luminizers.
Next is the Natural Glowing Look which contains a mini Wonderglow, mini Legendary Lashes Mascara, Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria (reviewed here and here), Beach Stick in Moon Beach (review here).
The Smokey Eye Evening Look has one of my favorite nude pink lipsticks Penelope Pink (also reviewed here and here). Other items in the set are a mini mascara, the Color Chameleon in Black Diamonds, Rock N Kohl Eye Liner in Bedroom Black.
Last but not least is the Red Carpet Party Look. It’s simple but sometimes all you need to dress up a look for a party or hot date is a good red lipstick and a tiny bit of liner. This one has a mini Wonderglow, Rock N Kohl Liner in Barbarella Brown, Lip Cheat Lipliner in Kiss N Tell, Matte Revolution in Red Carpet Red.
Being the Charlotte Tilbury fan that I am I already own virtually everything in the sets. I don’t need duplicates so I swatched what I had from my own stash and I’m giving away the 4 sets to one lucky reader! Giveaway is open to US and Canada only, entry details below at the bottom of the post. Here are all four sets on me. Foundation worn is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in 5 and 6 mixed together. Knit sweater pullover by Soft Joie.
One last look:
I think these are beautiful starter sets that make for a nice entry to the Charlotte Tilbury beauty line. Each set comes with a zipped pouch which is super cute. For me they aren’t must-haves since I already own virtually everything in these sets so I’m happy to give them away to 1 lucky winner. All you have to do is enter via the widget below. Note it’s open to US and Canada only and you must be 18 years or older to qualify. One winner will be selected at random via the widget on 1/19 and contacted by e-mail from me to receive 1 of each set featured in this post (so 4 sets total). Please refer to the terms and conditions in the widget for all the details.
You can find the Charlotte Tilbury Quick N Easy sets online at Charlotte Tilbury as well as at all other Charlotte Tilbury retailers and counters. I do believe the sets are limited-edition but each item (except for the bags) are available to purchase individually in the permanent lineup.
Many thanks to the Charlotte Tilbury team for sending these sets for review consideration.
I have an Instagram roundup and an eGift Card Giveaway today! I can’t believe it’s already November. The weather has definitely shifted although the forecast predicts warm weather in the high 70’s to low 80’s here in San Diego the air feels dry and my skin has definitely felt it. I’ve been pulling a number of creams, oils and lotions to see what works best for dry sensitive skin and hope to have a roundup of the best very soon.
For Instagram I receive quite a few questions on the items I post. I tag everything to make it easy for you to identify anything that piques your interest – they’re meant to be highlights, previews or snippets of what I’m loving at the moment. Here’s a roundup with some more details:
My desktop is always cluttered with item I’m testing, swatching or simply just using. I know I’ve promised a beauty organization post and I promise it’s coming! I’m a perfectionist when it comes to finding just the right items finding storage solutions that work has been a long process. Anyways on my desktop: the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinishes (my favorite is Beaming Blush) and Glossier Serums (I bought these to see if they live up to the hype). One item I ordered from the Sephora VIB Rouge sale was the Elizabeth and James Find Your Nirvana Rollerball Set and it’s sooo cute! My favorite is still Nirvana Black. Also on the desk are a couple NARS Velvet Lip Glides (review here).
The founder of The Dry Bar Alli Webb just released her first book Good Hair For All. I was thrilled they sent me an advance copy. I love that it’s hardcover, has great photos and is easy to follow. I haven’t tried any of the tutorials but I they look like it’s actually possible to do the styles yourself.
One of my outfit flatlays, you can see the Coach Clutch here, Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Med-Dark here, Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation and Shimmer Shots here. Top is by Joie (no longer available), flats by Chloe, jeans by Frame. The Dior Addict Gloss in Nude is one of the prettiest soft pinks I’ve ever tried. I highly recommend it!
Many of you have asked about my pets and how I manage their white fur. Short answer is that it’s a lot of work and it’s daily. We have 3 furkids, one ragdoll cat and two Jack Russell Terriers. As you might imagine they shed and have lots of energy so their fur gets everywhere. We have to vacuum multiple times a day, are always well stocked on swiffers and lint rollers. The lifesaver has been the iRobot Roomba 650 – we have gone through 3 variations in past the 11 years we’ve had our pets so they do last a long time (also available at Macy’s). It can be programmed to go off at scheduled times, has separate sensors towers so you can control where it goes. It does a great job at picking up hair, dust, lint etc. on hard surfaces and they are really easy to maintain and clean out. For the rug it does an ok job but we still need to vacuum with a regular one. If you have pets or kids even I highly recommend it. I have the iRobot Roomba 877 on my wishlist as ours probably needs to be replaced soon.
Aesop released a new item called Redemption Body Scrub. I’ve been a long time fan of the Geranium Body Scrub. The new one has a more invigorating scent and also has oils to help nourish the skin. Le Labo Santal Shower Gel is a splurge but I love it everytime I repurchase it. One of the best dry skin remedies is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It helps with irritated skin, is gentle, hydrates and doesn’t sting. If you haven’t tried this before I suggest looking at the Minis Kit – you won’t regret it.
One of my favorite scents for fall is still Bal D’Afrique. Fall scent and fragrance roundup in this post here. I’ll have a home scent roundup for fall to winter soon.
I use Truffle pouches daily and my current favorite is the Clarity Clutch Mini because it’s small enough to fit inside purses without taking up a lot of room. You can see the black mini in action here and here.
I will have reviews of the Louis Vuitton Parfums and CoverFX Enhance Highlighter Click Sticks up. I feel as though I have a lot of items on my to-do list that have been there forever. I’ve been pretty good at managing things and life in general but have been battling borderline burnout for the past month. So I thank you for your patience when you see that I say posts are “coming soon” but feel like it’s taking forever!
Last but not least I’m having another giveaway – it’s my way of saying thank you and giving back. In a world filled with thousands of blogs out there I’m touched from the bottom of my heart that so many of you return to read this labor of love on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The eGift Card Giveaways seem to be the most popular choice. I also have some backups I have in my stash of hard to find items that I will be giving away in the next few weeks so stay tuned! Happy Friday everyone! It’s been one of those weeks I thought would never end and I am relieved that it’s almost the weekend. Thank you to everyone who shared what you wanted to see on The Beauty Look Book blog in my last giveaway post. It’s always great to hear feedback on what you’ve liked and also what you would like to read more about. There were a lot of requests for features on a wide range of topics and I am beyond flattered so many of you want to know what I think about well basically anything! Most popular requests were for higher end skincare (I did not realize you guys liked the skincare posts!), budget-friendly cosmetics, full skincare routine, current hair care routine, more hauls, favorites roundups, inside my purse posts, shoe features, tutorials, makeup storage, more travel (so happy many of you loved this), time management, exclusive promo events and videos!
Since reading your requests, I’ve started to pull items for a full summer skincare routine and hair care routine post. I do tend to test a lot of products on myself to review for you so my routine changes frequently – but I will pull my favorites and include items I’ve used up. A few notes:
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale hauls posted on the blog, makeup picks here and fashion and skincare items hauled here
Exclusive promo savings for readers via Space NK US here – my apologies for those who were not able to use the code on Oribe, after several e-mails to the team, they’ve fixed the code and it works on all Oribe items (full size and travel sizes)
Antica Farmacista is doing a special online promo code, enter code ANTICABLB at checkout for a mini body butter with any online order!
Summer bronzer edit posted here (many of you have been asking for this for weeks!)
On videos I am hoping to do some in the future!
Loving right now/favorites in this post here today!
Right now for skincare, hair care and the home, I’m loving the following:
Chanel Fresh Body Cream is a summer go-to for body lotions. It smells lightweight and fresh and even though a tub is pricey. I use it sparingly but it has lasted a long time. It hydrates without feeling sticky and won’t interfere with perfume. My wallet is crying at the thought of having to buy again but I think it is 100% worth the splurge.
Antica Farmacista is a line I just discovered and I really don’t know how this has passed my radar for so long, I received a few samples and the line is exquisite! My favorite item is the Cucumber and Lotus Flower Candle which is the perfect cooling relaxing scent for the home, I am going to need this one in all formats, detailed review next week – if you have any favorites from the line let me know! If you order online they’re offering a free mini body butter with any order, use code ANTICABLB
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ample Angora Volumizing Mousse is something new to me, I will say up front I typically hate mousse products because they’re usually sticky and make my hair hard to comb/brush, this one is really good though. I have naturally thick hair and find most volumizing products don’t really add that much volume to my already thick hair (I have tried dozens of sprays, creams, lotions, shampoos etc.) This one combined with heat styling of the T3 PROi Dryer (best dryer ever, thanks RaeView for recommending to me!!) gives serious volume all the way through from roots to ends.
La Mer The Tonic is a toner I alternate with the SK-II Clear Treatment Lotion, I like both but reach for the La Mer more these days to help remove impurities after cleansing and rebalance the skin. The formula has been a go-to for years and often times I try others in attempts to find a more affordable option, but this one never fails me.
Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash is a favorite for every day multiple times a day. It’s one of the few I can use frequently without it stripping my skin. I’ve tried and repurchased all her cleansers and this is the only one that won’t irritate my skin on tender skin days. My brother has acne-prone skin that is even more sensitive than mine. I bought him this one to try and it’s one of the few he says is gentle enough for his skin (he’s in his early 20s). Also available in a larger 16 oz size with a pump and her Clinic Solutions Kit (I bought this for travel).
For makeup and fragrance:
Hourglass Ambient Luminous Light Palette is nothing but pure love, it’s a Nordstrom Beauty Exclusive for this year’s Anniversary Sale and I think it is perfect. If you already own the palette from last holiday or the individual colors you can skip this one. Also there’s a new marble palette that’s coming out for holiday that you might want to wait for as previewed on @gossmakeupartist’s Instagram (it looks dreamy but I think the colors are different!). My review + swatches in this post here.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Sugarcane is a perfect baby pink that covers the lip entirely, I also like Honeycomb which is a perfect nude, swatches + review of the neutrals in this formula can be found in this post here
MAC Sunblessed Cremesheen (in the Nordstrom Sunblessed Kit) is a great pinky nude on me even though it looks more peachy in the tube. Swatched on my lips here.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips are almost too hot to handle. I adore her Matte Revolution formula and was thrilled to see more neutrals and brights launched in her Hot Lips Collection. All the shades purchased by me and swatched in this post.
NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette (review soon) is an exclusive to NARS online and boutiques. This has great neutrals deep enough for medium to tan skintones. I’ll review and swatch this soon.
